Business Content - Version Comparison

Hi Folks,
I have a request to provide a list of activated business content objects which have been modified.
I can tell if business content has been installed when I go to Administrator Workbench - Business Content and collect an object.  I can also find out more details on differences between the delivered version and the active version using RSD1.  If I want a list of active objects, I can go to the metadata repository
However, is there a list or report available to give me list of business content active objects which do not match the delivered version?  If not I would like to develop a report.

Try installing the business content for exploring system objects such as
Content Browser (INFOAREA 0BWTCT)
BW Metadata (INFOAREA 0BWTCT_META)
Once you have installed the InfoCubes, infoobjects, etc. Install the related queries to these cubes. Setup the infopackages, load masterdata first, then load the cubes (for content browser, metadata is a remote cube and thus doesnt require dataloading).
Then execute and explore the varios queries. At the very least, it will help you to identify the activated business content that you use. As for comparing the installed content to the delivered content, that might be a bit trickier or more of a manual process. There are also other business content that may be worth exploring for your purposes.
Also of note, the content browser in BI 7.0 already indicates that it is obsolete, but the infocube indicates the new alternative for this.
These reports are also useful for tracking the customer defined objects and queries. Also please note that if you copied business content to a customer name space (0FIGL_V03 --z ZFIGL_V03) that these objects will most likely technically not show up as business content in the reports.

  • SAP Business One version comparison

    Hi, we're currently using 2005, and we're considering an upgrade to 8.8 later on. When researching the compatibility/benefit issues, I can't find anything that compares 8.8 to 2005 (all I can find are 8.8 to 2007). So I tried to find the comparison between 2005 and 2007 but can't find anything as well.
    Can anybody help me on this? Please advise me on what's the difference between 2005 and 2007? (what's the compatibility issues, performance gain, new features, etc).

    If you have addon's running on 2005 then for 2007 you will need to recompile them with the UI and DI API dll files from 2007 SDK.  This would be your first step for the addon to even work in 2007.
    I would recommend update your current company db by installing 2007 on a test environment and try the above steps for your addon.

  • Business content not available in A version

    Hello,
    I'm trying to transport my cubes etc. to another system, but I get an error message every time: "business content not available in A version" (with reference to a bunch on info objects..).
    When looking in BC in the target system i notice that these are white (not green as they would usually be)..
    I'm in a BI 7.0 environment. the business content version is the same in both source and target environment. Any ideas of what could be wrong?

    Yes, all is active in the source system. However, I get these errors in STMS in target system anyway.. I could install the business content in the source system without a problem, but when transporting to target I'm missing active versions of info objects.
    When looking in the BC tab in RSA1 in target i notice that these objects are "whitened".. Why? After installing them directly in the target environment, they turn green also in BC tab..
    How come they don't get activated directly during the transport? Is the basis setup wrong here?

  • Business content infosource

    Hi All,
    How do I do a comparison between the active infosource (2LIS_03_BF) vs. the business content infosource, or just to view the business content info source.  I am interested in both the communication structure and the transfer rule.  The current active infosource in the system was from release 2.x prior ro our system upgrade to release 3.5.  I need to implement the new 0IC_C03 inventory cube.  The old 2LIS_03_BF infosource was customized to load a different info cube. 
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.  I will assign points for those who are spending their time to help!!

    I looked at help.sap.com and did not find the fields for the communication structure and transfer rule for info source 2LIS_03_BF.   Can you point me to the right direction? 
    Also, I was hoping that there are some SAP utilities where it would show the differences between the active version vs. the business content version for the infosource.  Such as the one available in the info object display.

  • Business content installation query

    Hi Experts ,
    i am installing PM Business content installation , while installing 0PM_C03 there is an infoobject 0EQUIPMENT which is existing in present system but of old version   and mst of the attributes are time independent
    now  i  want to install   business content in such away that current 0EQUIPMENT  should not be disturbed  and business content version has attributes that are time dependant
    Question is shall i install 0EQUIPMENT  or not,  and let the old version remain , as 0EQUIPMENT  is under use at few places
    secondly if i dont install in future will there be any problem in loading PM data .

    hi,
    use the option Match (X) or copy.
    The Match indicator is set as default in order to prevent the customer version being unintentionally overwritten. If the Content of the SAP delivery version is to be matched to the active version, you have to set the Install indicator separately.
    The active version is overwritten with the delivery version if:
    ¡        The match indicator is not set, and
    ¡        The install indicator is set.
    In other words, the delivery version is copied to the active version.
    Note
    If the Install indicator is not set, the object is not copied or matched. In this case, the Match indicator has no effect.

    I got an error when installing the  Business content ODS (0OPA_O08).
    IC=0PROD_CATEG IS=0PROD_CATEG_ATTR syntax error: rows 0
    Message no. RSAU466
    Diagnosis
    When generating the update program for data target 0PROD_CATEG, InfoSource 0PROD_CATEG_ATTR, a syntax error occured in row 0.

    also are there any short dumps for the same in ST22 ?

    1. You download and update SAP Solution Manager content.

    5. In the software lifecycle manager, you check your IT landscape for required content software components.
    6. In the Administrator Workbench (part of usage type BI) or Portal Content Studio (part of usage type EP), you install any missing business content shipment units.
    7. In SAP Solution Manager, you generate a configuration task list.
    8. In the Administrator Workbench or Portal Content Studio, you configure content objects.
    9. In the Administrator Workbench or Portal Content Studio, you activate selected content objects.
    10. You test and transport your changes.

  • Transfering 0CUSTOMER from R/3 and activating in Business Content

    Hi all,
       New to BW. Trying to learn Data Transfer. Need help activating infoobject 0CUSTOMER in Business Content. I transferred 0CUSTOMER from R/3 without any problem. When i try to activate it in Business Content I get the following errors:
    1) Char. 0CITY is an navigational attrib. of 0vendor. Exclusive attrib not possible
    2) InfoObject 0CITY being used in InfoCubes or ODS objects --> error:
    3) Characteristic 0CURTYPE: The length has changed from 000003 to 000002
    4) SID Table /BI0/SCURTYPE contains data: Characteristic 0CURTYPE cannot be activated     @35\QLong text exists@
      Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Prabhu,
    The error messages you got are for those InfoObjects that are already activated, and whose active version is different from the business content version. When you are installing 0CUSTOMER, you need to be very careful as to NOT INSTALL those objects that are already active, unless you specifically want to.
    in the BC scrren, Right click on the 0CUSTOMER, and select "remove optional objects". Then the system will not select the active objects for installation again. Even after you do this, expand 0CUSTOMER tree to the lowest level and see what objects are prompted for installation. And remove the check marks for those objects which are alrady active

    0CITY has been modified and the flag "attribute only" has been removed from it. You are trying to install it again, which puts the flag back. But, since it is being used as a NAV attibute, you can  not do that. hence the eror.
    2) InfoObject 0CITY being used in InfoCubes or ODS objects --> error:
    Same reason as above. When you mark something as 'attribute only' it can't be used in InfoCubes or ODS objects.
    3) Characteristic 0CURTYPE: The length has changed from 000003 to 000002
    0CURTYPE in active version is different from the business content version. You are trying to change that again.
    4) SID Table /BI0/SCURTYPE contains data: Characteristic 0CURTYPE cannot be activated @35\QLong text exists@
    same reason as above.

  • Modelling approach for Business Content

    Hi gurus
    I need your opinions about a subject that has been discussed in a couple of threads but I canu2019t formulate a clear opinion.
    Is it better to use for e.g. infoobject 0BPartner from business content and make all customizing changes needed there (for e.g. Compounding key for data coming from 3-4 different sources) or make 3-4 copies of it for example ZBPartner, YBpartner , XBPartner and differentiate my data there.

    ZBPartner will be a template of 0BPartner. So everything in the beginning will be exactly the same. Customizing of the 0BPartner or ZBPartner depending on the choice we make will follow afterwards. Following that some other BPartners that cannot fit well in the existing model will be modeled in subsequent XBPartners that will be the copy of the Business Content Version or maybe the copy of the changed BI version of 0BPartner or ZBPartner.
    So the question remains. At the beginning use 0BPartner and customize that or copy it to a ZBPartner and customize this.

  • Translation of business content

    Hello,
    I have installed a new language in BI and updated the business content version of cubes, info objects etc. The active versions of the objects were however not translated.
    Which is the best way to translate the active objects to the new language?
    Do I have to re-install (re-activate) the business content or is there  a translation tool?
    How can i do this?

    we have NW Version 7.10.6.0.
    I guess with NW 7.1.1 (EhP 1) it will work fine when i can use the Developer Studio, but that is not available for 7.1

    Business Content is a pre-configured set of role and task-relevant information models based on consistent metadata in the SAP Business Information Warehouse.
    Business Content provides selected roles within a company with the information they need to carry out their tasks.
    Business Content can
    be used in particular industries without being modified
    be modified, meaning you can work with it to any degree of detail
    serve as a template or an example for customer-defined Business Content
    This information model includes integral Roles, Workbooks, Queries, InfoSources, InfoCubes, ODS objects, key figures, characteristics, Update rules, and extractors for SAP R/3, mySAP.com Business Applications, and for other selection applications.
    To summarize,
    Business Content enables a quick and cost-effective implementation.
    Provides a model that can be used as a guideline during implementation using experience gained from other implementations
    SAP delivers Business Content in the SAP Delivery Version (D version).
    Changes are saved in the M version.
    Active Business Content is saved in the A version.
    In the Administrator Workbench, one can collect and transfer the Business Content delivered by SAP. In this way, all additional necessary objects are taken into account automatically, as is the sequence for the activation.
    SAP delivers the Business Content objects in a new D Version. The customer can compare the new Business Content with his/her active customer version, and either adopt the new version or merge it with his/her version.
    Adopt: The customer version is deleted and replaced by the new Business Content version.

    depend on how that person activate the 0plant,
    when install business content (not in background),
    system will ask whether keep the active version,
    or overwrite with business content version.
    (will come out screen with checkbox to mark
    which one).
    if you change nothing to the activated one, then
    whether that person 'overwrite' or not will just
    the same.

    I am using my ECC 5.0 as BW system as it got BW 3.5.. and I am really trying to see the Business Content Cubes like 0PUR_C01,0PUR_C04 etc... and in RSA1>Business Content> Object Types I could see only the Technical Content cubes..(not able to see the SD,MM..etc related cubes)...
    And yeah I have R/3 PI installed with 2004_1_490 Version.. and so I could see all the Business Content DataSources in the source system...
    Is there one more PI for BW?? or the same as above??

  • Business Content - BC Version changed to ""has no InfoArea?

    Hi, I'm looking at 0COUNTRY InfoObject in Business Content and it is telling me there is a difference between the Current Content and the Active Version.  The only difference seems to be that the Content Version is Blank where the Active Version is 0CA_IO (Cross-Application).  Why would they deliver an object like 0COUNTRY with no InfoArea?
