Business Development

Hi,
It has been over a year since I posted to SDN.  I was working as a manager at an Indian conglomerate.  I have been to ill to work for some time.  I am now working part time as a consultant in the area of OLAP and Business Intelligence.  I only have one client.
I do not know anything about business development.  I would love to hear from other consultants as to how they get clients.

  • Got a pop-up to download latest version, but when I went to confirm, one of the choices for type of user "Business Developer" was misspelled- a sign of phishing

A .exe popped up to "update to latest version". I wanted to confirm this was from Mozilla so I went into contact, and planned on sending a message. Two things I noticed:
    1) There was not a text box for me to write out a message with my inquiry.
    2) There was a dropdown for me to select- if I was a User, Advertiser, Business Developer, etc.; however, the word "Business" was misspelled- a typical sign of phishing, and not something that I would think you would not have caught on your browser help tools.
Needless to say, I discontinued and closed the browser window. One way or another, I thought you would like to have this brought to your attention.

If you are interested in doing some contract work, we can talk. Feel free to send a resume, references, certifications, specialties and anything else that would be useful. Just be sure to indicate you are interested in remote contract work.

  • Apple iTunes U Contact for Business Development

Hello,  I would like to talk with an Apple iTunes U Product Manager or Business Development Manager.  Does anyone have a contact they can provide?  Thank you.

Apple typically does not make such information public. In general most inquiries are routed through the institution's local Apple account executive. If you'll tell us the general nature of what it is you wish to know or discuss, though, perhaps someone can offer a suggestion as to how to make an appropriate contact.

  • How to do business development?

    Hi,
If you've been following my other threads you know that I'm trying to either A) find a new job in Southern California or B) get transferred to the Irvine office of my current company.
I want to propose that if they transfer me and if I can't stay billable for enough of my time, that I try to get new business.
I have no idea, other than cold calls, how to drum up business. And I hate cold calls. What other methods are there to drum up new business? Especially inexpensive ones, since I have to make the case that I've never been a sales kinda guy and they aren't going to want to invest money in this. Opinions?
    Thanks,
    Stan

The first customer is hard, Stan. But once you have that, referrals can start to happen.
Don't undercut on prices to get the first one. You will either get the person who will never pay a fair price in the future (and possibly will stiff you if given a chance). And it is very difficult to get to a fair price when some has been getting a deal.

  • How configure reporting services configuration with sql server business development studio

I have installed sql server 2008 r2 mixed mode(sql server authentication) with native mode
I want to run report using reporting  services config manager.
I made report in ssrs and I have configured reporting services configuration and  web url from RSCM( reporting  services config manager), i put on ssrs report.
report is build and deployed but when i take deployed url on Internet explorer, it shows the window below:
when I put the password nothing happened . if I put url in google chrome then it shows authentication required window like the same in IE
if I passed username=(levent/sa) and password then goes on window but does not see on page,  if I passed only administrator name (levent) not passed sql server login name (sa) then does not close 'Authentication window'
    'Computer connect net with modem'
before i tried on earlier PC, it worked fine.
setting is below link like this.
only set service Account is Use_built=NetworkSrvice
    link
    http://www.azurecurve.co.uk/2012/02/how-to-configure-sql-server-reporting-services-in-order-to-deploy-reporting-services-reports-in-gp/
    what is the problem
    Plz give suggestion quickly

    Hi tusharshinde,
Per my understanding that when you log in the report Manager you got the pop-up window ask for credential, you try to enter  the SA account and the window account as the username and password but both not work, right?
Your issue related to the authentication. As you mentioned you have choose the ”Network Service” as the Service account, generally using this account in RSCM and RSWindowsNegotiate is added to the RSReportServer.config file as the default setting. With this
setting, the report server can accept requests from client applications requesting Kerberos or NTLM authentication. If Kerberos is requested and the authentication fails, the report server switches to NTLM authentication and prompts the user for credentials
unless the network is configured to manage authentication transparently.
The issue can be caused by many factors and please check one by one.
Did you enter the username and password for three times and got blank page or got some error? If you got some error, please provide the error information.
you can delete the specific Authorization Types inside rsreportserver.config  file, open path:” \Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rsreportserver.config”.
Search the file for the “AuthenticationTypes” section. Remove RSWindowsNegotiate and RSWindoeBasic to ensure only “RSWindowsNTLM” is specified in the file rsreportserver.config file.
Before do any modification, back up the files and remember to restart the ReportServer instance in the RSCM after the modification.
If step1 doesn’t work ,please also do the trusted Site Setting in the Browser, article with details steps for your reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb630430.aspx
Please check the Report Manager's authentication mode.Have a look in the Report Manager's web.config file to check if you can find below information under the <system.web> (Path is “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting
    Services\ReportManager\Web.config ” ).
    authentication mode="Windows"
    identity impersonate="True"

Please tried to provide us more details information, if the problem still exists:
Did you login in the report manager locally or remotely via Browser and which URL you are using to login the Report manager?
Did you modified some configuration file before and what did you modified?
Did your windows account have the right permission to access the report manager?
Any problem, please feel free to ask.

    hi,
with business developer installation you get a DOCs folder where you can find the best BC guides there are - if you're not satisfied however you can always attend BC530 and BC531 from SAP
but those from docs folder are enough to start doing flows in BC,

  • Deaf Company applying for Developer Program hitting a snag

A month ago I applied for the Apple Developer Program.
I and my partner, we are Deaf, and founded a company. We are developing a visual communication system for sign language users. We, the founders, and the customers are Deaf. We released our visual communication service about three weeks ago. In our multi-language country the sign language community is very excited about our service, because it overcomes language barriers. We also got a note from European Deaf communities because a Deaf in a country might not be able to write the language of another Deaf's country, but they are able to send messages to each other in International Sign Language.
Of course we want to develop an app for our service on iOS. Therefore we applied for the Apple Developer Program. However we were hit by a snag. It seems to be required that Apple calls back for verification.
How can you phone a Deaf person?
I offered alternative communication. Short message service, Skype, Whatsapp, old reliable email, whatever.
We got an email after a week that our case has been escalated. After another week an email pleading for patience. This has been two weeks ago. Four weeks have passed since the application. And now nobody answers anymore when I send emails or support forms requesting a status update.
    It's like Apple died.
We want to be treated as everyone else. If phoning is not possible because of a handicap there are other solutions to contact us. It's the same as providing accessibility to buildings and websites. The Apple Developer Program has to provide accessibility like everyone else.
My partner is very disappointed in Apple. He said, Apple believes that Deaf people are dumb and not able to develop software.
Apple, what are you up to? How can we register for the Apple Developer Program?

    nalply wrote:
    etresoft, please stop being angry.
A sure-fire way to get one's thread deleted here in Apple Support Communities is to leave the technical discussions behind and start attacking people personally. I'm not one to report posts like that when directed at me. I prefer a more orthoganal engagement.
Do you know how essential phoning is today? Delivery people phone ahead to check if anybody is home. Many forms have phone numbers required. Customs try to phone me to find out what to do with the package. Apple tried to phone us. The CA tried to phone us.
Actually, no. I haven't had a single business-related phone call in two years at least. Nobody phones anymore. People send e-mails and the luddites still send faxes. Curiously, the vast majority of complaints from non-US developers trying to get business developer accounts stems from Apple's reliance of faxes for international business. They ask "Seriously Apple? Who has a fax machine anymore?" Why didn't you mention anything about a fax? This is the very first time I have heard of a phone call in this context.
But please imagine: You order a thingamajig on a foreign website. They ask for your tax number. You don't have the right one because you live in a different country. You get a few mails that they escalate and reassign your case. After two weeks this stops. No replies, no mails, nothing.
After four weeks, boom, you have your thingamajig delivered.
A developer account is a far cry from a "thingamajig" you order over the internet. It is a financial service where Apple pays you money. And yes. Taxes are involved. You don't live in a different country. Your product will be sold from the United States so you and Apple are responsible for complying with US and international trade, financial, and tax law. It gets complicated real fast. You are doing international business deals and those things simply take a long time.
And for the record, Apple's support number for people needing accessiblity services is:
    1-877-204-3930
It works fine when I called it. Please use the correct number. When dealing with things like software development, taxes, money, and the law, details are important.
