  • BW Business Document Service (BDS) in Design Studio

    Hi all,
I am trying to migrate a WAD-Report to Design Studio 1.4. In WAD it’s possible to use BW Business Document Service (BDS). Documents can be opened by using the context menu.
I created a Test Report in Design Studio 1.4 and added a crosstab and assigned the Data Source. The report shows the data correctly but the context menu of Design Studio doesn’t show the document links.
I couldn’t find any information about BDS in DesignStudio in the Adminstrator and user guide.
    Has anybody tried this before?
    Does DesignStudio support BDS?
    Thank you in advance!

Hello Tobias - we have received a similar question here: Access Document Item/List similar to WAD
Would you please see if the response answers your question?

  • Business Document Service versus Mime Repository

    Dear experts,
we are looking for the best way to store a couple of graphics (Bitmap or JPEG), not thousands but maybe a few hundred, and due to lacking experience and information we cannot really decide wether they should preferably be saved in the BDS or in the mime repository.
Does anybody know if there is some sort of general information on when to use which one?
Pros and Cons of both types of repository? I couldn't find anything like that. In the books I've been reading on the usage of the SAP Picture Control I find example for both ways but without any notice concerning principal advantages that one of the techniques may have against the other.
Thanks in advance for your help !
    regards
    Andreas

"Wiki documents" are a feature of Document Service. This is why Yannick complained that the name is a bit confusing.
There is also a "Wiki", which allows you to create/maintain wiki pages.
say if i want to customise it then what do i need to do and more importantly i want the steps to use document task flowsWhat do you want to customize? If you search Yannick's site there are also blog articles on how to customize task flows.
If you want to just use them, you can go ahead without customizations - I'd recommend to get familiar first what OOTB task flows can do for you. I guess for your use case they should be sufficient.

  • Information about BDS (Business Document Service)

    Hello everyone,
I am developing a program to display a report through ALV, and also plot the graphs for the same.
I have got a way to do so, through a blog on SDN, "Report with a Graph... An Approach!".
The person has showed the report output in ALV, but has showed it in EXcel View, by downloading the Standard ALV template for Excel.
I got how to do that,
Through Change Layout->Vierws->Excel View->select the template here.
But first, we need to download the document(Template) from  BDS, and then Upload the document(after making the chjanges we want, that is what I know now).
I need to know, is there any specific setting that we need to do for BDS.
Why am I asking this is because when we change the view to excel, there are predefined sheets which are there, into which the ALV data flows automatically.
I need these data sheets, as I have to do the further processing on them.
Please help me out, it is important and urgent.
Points are assured for helpful answers.
    Thanks and regards,
    Prerna.

  • Business Document Service

    Hi,
I am bit confused in knowing about BDS. Could some one help me in detail about it.
    Thanks,
    Prabhu Rajesh.

    Hi,
    Why BDS is required?
=> to store documents. e.g you may to store a scanned image of a document along with the vendor master.
    Where can I use?
=> its totally customizable according to your request.
What is the advantage in using BDS?
=> if you were to store the documents outside of SAP , there are lot of issue like how do u map it to the object, how will u retrive it, etc.
more info you can find at http://help.sap.com
also look at OA* transactions in sap.

  • Need authorization for business document services attachment list with user status in ps claim for clm2 and clm3

    Dear Friends,
client wants to restrict the attachment list changing, deletion after the user status sets to close in PS Claims for transaction clm2 and clm3.
Currently any one can attach documents as GOS and delete even the claim is completed and status is closed.
How can we restrict all users even who created the claim can not change create and delete attachment list documents once the claim is completed and approved and user status sets to closed.

    HI,
what is the claim creation transaction in that 01 is for creation 02 is for edit and 03 for display so with the help of basis consultant you can assigned transaction in user's assigned role accordingly.
But user who is authorize for create claim can not modified or edit once he save the job. this would be limitation.

  • Easiest way to transfer all Business Documents to another instance

We have to transfer all appraisal documents to another SAP instance. We know how to transfer all other parts except attachments (such as Excel sheets) of appraisal documents. These attachments are stored in Business Document Service (BC-SRV-BDS) with classname APPR_DOC.
What is the easiest way to transfer all such attachments (in other words, all business documents of type APPR_DOC) to another system?
For example, can transaction OAOR be used to transfer all documents easily? I have currently some authorization problems so that I can't test OAOR myself, and I am not sure whether you can easily select all documents for transport or do you have to do it one-by-one.
Another option would be to do the transfer via RFC, but it involves writing programs to both the source and destination instances.
    Any other ideas?

If the music is already in iTunes and you want to organize it in a single file you con click under Advanced>Consolidate Library.
Otherwise if the music is not in iTunes yet, I believe it is necessary to do it manually, maybe try an automator workflow?
This is an example workflow that can help you:

  • Business Object Services- Attachment vs store business document

    Hi,
There are two ways to add attachments to a Purchase requisition.
    1. as a generic attachment- (System --> services for object --> create attachment )
    2. as a business document ( System --> services for object -->store business doucment)
Looks like in both the options, attachments could be stored on HTTP Content server.
What are pros and cons of storing an attachment as a business doc?
What are additional functions possible with option 2?
    Thanks ,
    Vinay

    Hi,
Attachments are stored in binary format.
Advantage of  storing in SAP is speedy access, than compared to content server.
Disadvantage some of the table space grows exponently.
Some of the tables attachments get stored are SO*
To get the link for the folder and attachments stored in SRGBTBREL
Various type of attachments are ATTA NOTE URL MSG etc.
For custom attachment options can be enabled using class CL_GOS_MANAGER
    aRs
    If useful pl. assign points

  • Services for Object - Store Business Documents (issue with XLSX files)

    Hi,
We are using the Services for Object > Store Business Document to be able to drag and drop files into (for example) Sales Inquiry, Sales Order, Sales Quotations etc.
Within OAC2 we have set up the global document types and these have been linked to the relevant Object Types and Content Repositories in OAC3.  We have also set up the Content Repository as Document Area 'ARCHLINK'.
The ArhciveLink Basic Settings in OAG1 have the 'Always Copy Document Class from Document Type' set under Storage Settings.
The issue we are having is with XLSX document types.  When we drag and drop the XLSX documen type using the Store Business Document the file is stored against the Sales Order but when you come to view the attachments MS Excel opens but an error message appears saying 'Excel cannot open the file '******' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file'?
We have reviewed SAP notes 1925897, 1739026 and 1145885 however non appear to give me a clear answer as to why this is happening?
I have found that if we unselect the option 'Always Copy Document Class from Document Type' in OAG1 then we can open the XLSX files.
As we have a significant amount of documents attached to various objects, what would be the implications of making this change agianst existing records and new records?
Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Gary B

    Hi David,
    No joy I'm afraid!!
I added entry 'xlslx' with the relevant MIME Type, Application and Description into table TOADD for the ArchiveLink settings and also this entry was already in tables SDOKMIME and SDOKFEXT for KPro.
I then following the process via the Services for Object within VA12 (Change Inquiry) to then Create > Store Business document > Select the relevant Document Type > Drag and Drop the XLSX file into the empty box.
I then saved the record and tried to view the attachement but I am still getting the same message  'Excel cannot open the file '******' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file'?
Our client is on componet SAP_BASIS release 701 Support Level 0014 and Support Package SAPKB70114 and I can see that note 1237688 is for SAPKB70112?

  • Business Address Services (BAS) and Where-Used ADRV/ADRVP

Can someone point out any good sources of information on Business Address Services or possibly its predecessors either online or hard-print?  I've been through the help.sap.com information for BAS and all sorts of SAPNotes without finding what I'm looking for.
In particular I'm trying to understand default SAP's usage of the Where-Used links in BAS that are stored in the tables ADRV and ADRVP.
My Issue: If I create a Sales Document in SAP referencing a partner address stored in BAS there is no Where-Used ADRV record created.  So I cannot use the address number of the ADRC record to find which documents are referencing it via ADRV.
    steps to recreate:
    - Using existing Customer/Partners
    - Create Sales Document (Order) adding partners by selecting partner #'s and not manually overriding any address information.
    - Address of the partner is now linked in the Sales Document via VBPA-ADRDA=D and the ADDRNUMBER references the same ADRC address records that KNA1 points to.
    - There is no Where-Used record created in ADRV indicating that the Sales Document is linked to that address.
    - If I change or delete the ADRC record from KNA1 then I do not have the information available to take any special actions on linked Sales Documents.
Note: If you manually override the address or use a one-time address when entering the Sales Document then the new address is linked via VBPA-ADRDA=E and a Where-Used record is created in ADRV.  Also any follow-on documents created with reference to the Sales Document will also have Where-Used records created in ADRV.  So in the case of changed or manually entered addresses ADRV does work as I would expect it to.
I am observing this behavior in both R/3 4.6c and ECC 5.0.  Trying to understand why SAP is using or not using ADRV in these situations and whether the behavior can and should be changed.
