Business Explorer 3.5 compatibility with BI
Our current environment is Windows 2003/SQL Server 2005. We have a existing BW 3.5 system. Now we want to upgrade the existing BW 3.5 to BI 7.0. We don't want to install the BI_JAVA usage type this is a ABAP stack only. Now I have some questions in regards to this and if anybody can help me with this I would appreciate it greatly.
Q1. If we upgrade to BI without the BI_JAVA usage type would we be able to use all of the BW 3.5 functionality without having to install JAVA Stack?
Q2. This BW system connects to ECC 5.0 and SRM 5.0. I would like to know do we have to upgrade the Plugins to a specific support pack level in these source system (ECC5.0 and SRM 5.0)?
Q3. What is the minimum patch level for Business Explorer front end tools with version 3.x to work fine with BI 7.0 system?
If you can awnser any of these questions I would appreciate your help immensly and award you points generously as well.
Thank you,
AA
If it's MiniDV and has a FW port, I can almost guarantee it will work. Both FCE and FCP's "compatibility lists" are for the most part incomplete-- I have seen many devices not listed there work fine.

Dear all,
Could anyone let me know how compatible is ABAP Web Dynpro with Business Package 1.2 ?
The Source is updated with Enhancement Package 2.
Does BP 1.2 supports ABAP Web Dynpro by default ?
Thanks!Dear Andy, Chris,
Thanks for your inputs.
I checked the SDN Port folio area but I could not find BP 1.2 for download. Could anyone help me with the place to download the same ?

Federating the Business explorer role
Recently we have successfully federated some reports for some business users. Now another business group is interested in federating the Business explorer role. They would like to take advantage of the BexWebanayzer iview and a few of its features. They want the ability to personalize (change the columns and filteringu2026) a report and save it in their personal Portfolio area in KM on the producer. I'm having some issues federating that iview and the business explorer role. Is anyone aware of any other SAP users that have federated the Business explorer role?
Along with federating the role the users would like to hide 2 of the tabs within the popup iview of the "save as" in the BexWebAnalyzer iview . I don't know if this is even possible to modify the popup and I can't seem to find that popup object/iview.
Thanks, any info is appreciated.
JimHey @ All,
how did you install the EP? What kind of Usagetype did you select?
To have the BI content installed to the EP you need to install the BI usagetype as well. So in SAPinstaller you have to check the marks properly.
If you have installed only the EP usagetype you are able to reinstall the BI usagetype afterwards. As far as I know you can start the SAPinstaller again and set the right checkmarks.
The BI (usagetype) content needs a WEBAS Java and EP installed.
Hope this explanation helped a little... if so points are very welcome since i am starting from scratch!
kind regards

Business Explorer 7.1 With Windows Server 2000?
Hi
We are looking to upgrade our SAP GUI from 620 to 710. As part of this due to other system install and upgrades we are looking to upgrade the Business Explorer from the included 3.5 to 7.1.
My issue/question is this......I am reading conflicting information, of sorts, in that in the prerequisites it states that Business Explorer 7.1 is only compatible with Windows XP or Vista. However in the installation guide for Business Explorer 7.1 in Chapter 5 it says "The user with which you are logged in to your workstation (Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista)"
To add to the confusion we access the SAP GUI, and in turn the business explorer, via Citrix and so there is no SAP software installed locally on the users desktops.
So in case I haven't yet asked the question, Is it possible to have Business Explorer 7.1 working on Windows 2000 Server? And if so is it straightforward or are there workarounds required?
Thanks in advance
Ian NewburyWe have installed the BEx Analyser version 7.1 and it works so the answer to my question is Yes.

Adobe Flash Player not compatable with Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2
I installed Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 and I noticed Adobe
Flash Player 10 was not compatable with it, so I had to downgrade
back to Internet Explorer 7. Does anybody know if Adobe is
developing a flash player that is compatable with IE 8? I know IE 8
is still in beta, but when it gets released I want to be able to
download it and have Adobe Flash Player work in it.I am on my home computer and version 10.2.159.1 is installed. Interestingly, it appears that it is installed correctly. I can view Youtube flash videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8tSMKGbnW0 and browse to the Adobe home page and view the flash. However, if I go to certain websites

It tell me to update my flash player. It works fine in Firefox. -
Internet Explorer 10 compatibility with Moss 2007.
Hello , We are facing issue with MOSS 2007 and Internet Explorer 10.There are few out of box fields are not working at all with IE 10.
Lookup field – with more that 20 items in it.
Date and Time
These fields do not work at all.
I know there is workaround of switching to compatibility mode, however looking for some permanent solution
Based on the following article I installed hotfixes of .net framework which didn’t help. Though I noticed same issues I had with IE 11 are resolve .
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/88505e15-d453-4336-995d-12c010c5ad49/internet-explorer-10-compatibility-with-sharepoint-2010-sp-2007-interface
Thanks in advance.SharePoint 2007 is fully supported with the following browsers, from Plan browser support (Office SharePoint Server):
Level 1 Web browsers for Office SharePoint Server 2007 with SP2 are as follows:
Windows Internet Explorer 6.x (32-bit)
Windows Internet Explorer 7.x (32-bit)
Windows Internet Explorer 8.x (32-bit) (includes running in compatibility mode)
Windows Internet Explorer 9.x (32-bit) (includes running in compatibility mode)
Level 1 Web browsers for Office SharePoint Server 2007 original release and Service Pack 1 (SP1) are as follows:
Internet Explorer 6.x (32-bit)
Internet Explorer 7.x (32-bit)
As well, IE 7, 8 , and 9 64-bit, Firefox 3.x and Safari 3.x are supported with limitations. If you don't have SP2 or newer installed you could throw on your nostalgia hat and also use Firefox 1.5, Mozilla 1.7, Netscape Navigator (!) 7.2 and 8.1, or Safari
2.0 again with limited functionality.
I'm afraid IE 10 isn't on the list so you will need a work around. It sounds like compatibility mode works for you, how about setting up a
Group Policy Object that sets the compatibility settings for your SharePoint URLs in all your users's browsers?

Business Objects Reports compatibility with firefox
Hi,
Some BO web intelligence reports which were having issues on our live environment. I have noticed that the reports are having no problems with the fonts and numeric display in BO Infoview while using IE browser.
The problem is noticed in BO Infoview while using Mozilla firefox browser. This does not look to be a font specific issue.
This looks to be more with BO reports compatibility with firefox.
Can any one please let me know the plugin / Patch need to be installed which will correct compatibility issue with IE and Mozilla
Environment Details: BOXIR2
Thanks alot !Hi,
Your only approach is to :
a) use a product that is currently supported by the vendor & who's codeline is still actively maintained
and
b) use a mix of software components that are validated for compatiblity and supported by our product development.

Canu00B4t run business explorer from APO
Hi,
I can´t run the business explorer from APO (transaction RRMX). I get the error message "Please install Excel as a viewer" (Msg no BRAIN 871). However opening BEx in excel and then opening queries work. Any suggestions how this could be solved? Have checked the add-ins in excel and they are all disabled.

Authorisations to Save in a role in Business Explorer
Good Afternoon,
I am attempting to allow certain users to save their workbooks in a certain role in Business Explorer, where they can share their workbooks with others that wish to see them (those who have access). But I dont want the users to be able to save changes or create workbooks in every role.
I am currently adding the authorisation object S_USER_TCD (Authorizations: Transactions in Roles) with the value * (All transactions) to the role. Unfortunately this allows the user to modify workbooks in EVERY role. How can I avoid this and only have the one role modifiable??
Your help would be greatly appreciated.Hi Simon,
Using Auth object: S_USER_AGR, provide activities: 01, 02, 03, 06 and in the Role Name add the name of the role to which the workbooks are stored. This new role will then become your workbook maintenance role.
Hope this helps... -
Business Explorer and Business Intelligence Roles
Can someone answer the following questions about these 2 roles:
Business Explorer
pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/Roles/com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase
Business Intelligence
pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/Roles/com.sap.ip.bi.bi_showcase
It appears the BI Role above has the Business Planning feature, but Business Explorer does not. Other than this, can someone explain the difference and why 2 seperate roles?
Also, if we give users the Business Explorer role, we do not want them to see the Bex Broadcasting tab that comes by default. Is the only way to avoid this is create a copy of this standard delivered ivew (contained in the Business Explorer Role) and remove this tab?
Can anyone share thoughts or experience with these 2 different roles and modifying?
Thanks, Mark.Business Explorer role is from 3.5 and BI role is new in 04s.
You will have to create the copy and remove the unwanted iViews from the new role.
You can set permissions at iView level (permission to specfc users for broadcaster iView) but it will be hard maintaining it. -

JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.Hi,
Take a look at these screencams.

Business Explorer (BEX) Query open Error
Hi
When opening BEX(Business Explorer) Queries from Excel , it asks for System to choose.
But business doesn't want to see this option. It should go directly to open query selection for the system it has logged in.
Say , it has logged in BIQ , it should go to open the queries selction for BIQ without asking to login to BIQ as user has already logged in BIQ.
In some other users desktop , when they open Queries from Excel it directly goes to open query selection without prompting for System selection
We are using SAP GUI 7.20 patch 4 , BEX 3.5 patch 3.
We also have BEX 7.20 but we will not use it
We tried to with applying all latest patches but we still get the same error.
We perfomred a Excel test provided by SAP , that shows gree.
Business wants to use SAP GUI 7.20 patch 4 and BEX 3.5 patch 3.
Can any one help on this ?
Note: please don't recommed to apply latest patch to GUI or BEX or apply patch to System component. . Thats not the solution as the current version works in some other desktops.
Please let me know if you want to understand more in this scenario.
Thanks
Rabi KumarDear Das,
In that case you need to call the RRMX transaction from your BW system and if SSO works , then it leads you directly
to the Open save dialog.
For SSO , I would suggest you to please implement the below note:
Note 1498947 : RRMX: Logon mechanism for 720 GUI.
