Business explorer in sap bw

while viewing reports in Busineess Explorer (BEx) if I set filter on one characteristic and navigate it shows the values,if i want to continue for a a second filter then also it works,and when I want to continue with any navigation or to set a filter it throws an error message and Bex is being disconnected from the server .this happens to me every time i view the reports in Bex. presently I am using Excel 2007 version, I have also tried with Excel 2003. can anybody give a root cause and a solution regarding the disconnection from the server.

the error message states that;
microsoft excel has encountered a problem and needs to close immediately.and also asks weather to send the error report or not. I have tried to send the report but there was no such solution. i have enquired one of the basis people regarding the issue ,they said it might be a GUI problem. But could not fix it.

Business Explorer - Internet Explorer

I present you following problem :
since the installation of the module Business Explorer for SAP Gui 7.10 we encounter problems with one of our manufacturers website application through Internet Explorer. It seems that Internet Explorer can't open the module (which is used to list a tree of several components) and so gives us an typical script error message on that specific page.
This problem has been reproduced on several computers and only occurs when the combination of Internet Explorer and Business Explorer is installed. The problem does not occur with other browsers like Firefox.
I wanted to download the latest patch available " bi710sp06p_602-10004472.exe BI AddOn Patch for GUI 7.10 602 Info 34960 21.08.2008" but can't seem to download it (error HTTP 400), even through the Download Manager.
Can anybody help us?

Laurent, it appears our company is also having any issue with IE after upgrading our BI 7.0 Front End tools to PL5 or 500. In reading the notes regarding PL5 and PL6 (600,601,602) have not seen any mention of potential installation issues with PL5.
Our desktop group is researching what IE items might have changed with the BI 7.0 Front End Tools upgrade to PL5 and once I get some info from them, I will open an OSS message on this.
I am also trying to re-create on my laptop so I can see the issue myself.

the Business Explorer role is a show case for Information Broadcasting. My Portfolio, BEx Portfolio and Collaboriative BI have different layouts and features for working with a BW report.
Information Broadcasting is a feature of a BW system.

Business Explorer Error after installation of SAP GUI 7.10

Hi Experts
we have installed SAP GUI 7.10 successfully and there seems to be an error on Business Explorer.. while processing some of the queries in designer it gives out an error message " critical program error occured.The program has to close.Please refer to the trace for further information" this caused the entire application to close.
Trace : Error(08.11.07 15:19:10.965): mode completion failed, rc=-1 (error=6 UI ThreadHdl=1436)

Hi ,
I have updated the GUI for the latest patch , that is 5. and still at sometimes when using query designer "critical Error" msg used to appear.. i have checked the logs but it doesnt give out any clue why this error occurs.. if ya have any suggestion please let me inform as well..

I'm not an expert SAP.
I need to know SAP BW and BEx Business Explorer Tools.
I downloaded and installed version of SAP Netweaver trial for Windows 32-bit that I found at this link:

SAP Business Explorer Analyzer Performance testing

Hi, All
I don't have any experience in SAP at all. So maybe I will ask silly questions.
I was asked to provide performance testing for SAP Business Explorer Analyzer. As you know it is Excel base application with ActiveX control from SAP. HP Loadrunner doesn't support such configuration (It can only work with SAPGUI). So I am forced to search for other possible solutions. So maybe here I can get ideas and opinions about options:
1. I asked SAP admins about possibility to do the same things what users do from BEx (query execution + some drill down in data) in SAPGUI, maybe with predefined parameters or with additional customization. Unfortunately I've got an answer that it isn't possible at all. Is it really?
2. Another idea is to simulate what users do in BEx with VBA since anyway Excel interacts with BEx engine via DBA. There I met another problem. There is no any documentation about ActiveX components (e.g. com.sap.bi.et.analyzer.addin.BExConnect) or API used in BExAnalyzer.xla. The question is "is it possible or not to fully automate all data manipulation with VBA" and "Where can I get documentation about SAP VBA API?"

You can run the queries with drilldown using transaction rsrt in list mode and interact via standard screen functions
This won't however give you the WAN or the presentation server overhead (ie formatting of the cells with excel wrappers of styles)

For clarification, in 2008, SAP used the term u2018business intelligenceu2019 in two ways:
SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions
SAP NetWeaver BI
In order to remove confusion, the term business intelligence is now associated only with the solutions from the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio.
SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (BI) is no longer used and instead we refer to the following:
SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (BW)
SAP Business Explorer (SAP BEx)
SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator (BWA)
Therefore, this forum name should probably not refer to BI. We hope this helps clear up the confusion.

SAP Business Explorer 7.0 availability

Hello Expert,
We've migrated BW 3.5 query in BW 7.3 SAP System. Dataflow migration was successful but Query Designer 7.3 product version not compatible with BW 3.5 Query. Have found from SAP SCN thread that firstly we need to install BEX tool 7.0 & Validate/run all queries in 7.0.After that all these works fine in BEX 7.3.
While checking BW 3.5 query in BI Business explorer query designer 7.10 getting the following error message.
Please check the attached file ABAP dump -ST22 for the more details.
Status Messages:
Terminate:Unexpected Error:RFC_Error_SYSTEM_FAILURE-Exception Condition "X_MEssage" raised.
Terminate: Query Designer must be restarted:further work not possible
We've tried to install SAPGui version 710,720,730 but unable to find the BI Business Explorer 7.0 version in these SAPGui version & getting the same error message from All these BEx versions(710,720,730)
Can anyone guide us in which SAPGui version we'll find the BI Business explorer query designer 7.0 version

What do you mean by saying "SAP BW 3.x" is integrated?? I suppose you ask because you have "Business Explorer (SAP BW 3.x)" in your Start Menu.
I have just finished (at least I hope so) installing SAP GUI 7.10 two hours ago (man, this was an experience...), and I believe that:
- SAP GUI 7.10 (the install package) comes with BI Addon 7.10 by default, but you do not need to install that if you do not want it
- You can download and install BW 3.5 AddOn separately (a separate .exe file for the Windows platform).
So I think, first SAP GUI 7.10 was installed on you PC without BI7.0 Addon and after that BW3.5 AddOn was applied. I am not sure if any of these addons (BW3.5 Addon, BI7.0 Addon) have anything to do with R/3, I do not think so.

It may help you to know I currently have two OSS messages raised for just this error - I suggest you do the same!
The combination of software elements that you have may well be the issue, but raising the OSS will help take you through the process of identifying the issue.
The 710 GUI seems quite flaky still, I'm just hoping it will be robust before we roll it out globally.

Hi dear,
first of all you need to divide the error analysis in several check-areas...
(WHERE your data is wrong ? in PSA? in data mart section? in the final infoprovider ? only at query level ? at DB level?)
As you can see, understand WHERE is your problem solves half problem it-self !
Then look at OSS notes, first of all to verify that there is no std bug in some pgm, or to receive some useful suggestion...

Business Explorer and Business Intelligence Roles

Can someone answer the following questions about these 2 roles:
Business Explorer
pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/Roles/com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase
Business Intelligence
pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/Roles/com.sap.ip.bi.bi_showcase
It appears the BI Role above has the Business Planning feature, but Business Explorer does not. Other than this, can someone explain the difference and why 2 seperate roles?
Also, if we give users the Business Explorer role, we do not want them to see the Bex Broadcasting tab that comes by default. Is the only way to avoid this is create a copy of this standard delivered ivew (contained in the Business Explorer Role) and remove this tab?
Can anyone share thoughts or experience with these 2 different roles and modifying?

Business Explorer role is from 3.5 and BI role is new in 04s.
You will have to create the copy and remove the unwanted iViews from the new role.
You can set permissions at iView level (permission to specfc users for broadcaster iView) but it will be hard maintaining it.

Problem with Business Explorer 7.0?

I have installed SAP GUI 7.1 and BI 7.0 Add on.
When I tried to open Business Explorer after opening this screen, when I am trying to open the queries here it was showing the language is German.
I am not able to open the queries in Business Explorer
Please see the procedure what I followed.
1. Uninstall of old versions of SAP GUI and BI ADD on.
2. Uninstall if Dotnet 1.1 version.
3. Install of Dotnet 2.0 version.
4. Install of SAP GUI 7.1 version.
5. Install of SAP BI 7.1 ADD on(SAP netweaver2004)
6. Install of SAP GUI Patch 5.0
Please help me how to correct this issue.

We used to have the same issue. Check the system requirements for BI7.0 Analyser. We need to have Microsoft Excel 2003.
