Business Hours & Service Window

Sorry for basic question - I seen the article on Maintenance. Window vs Business Hours but does the business hour time impact the deployment of Software Updates and Forefront definitions?
I'm troubleshooting some out of date Forefront clients and seeing service window not available so wondering whether the Business Hours come into play - we have no client Maintenance Windows and all Software Updates are deployed with a past deadline i.e.
install now
On the subject of business Hours are they not controlled via policy ? - out of the box its set 7am to 10pm and we don't want users to be able to change any settings here.
Ian Burnell, London (UK)

Business hours do not come into play after the deadline was reached.
You cannot set business hours via policy, but there is a script on my blog that can set them.

  • Running OneDrive for business as a windows service

    Hello,
    I have a requirement where we have some files (backup files with some app data) that should be synced from a Windows Server 2012 VM  to a shared folder on OneDrive for business and then the reversed on some other Windows Server 2012 VMs that use the
    files for testing.
    How can I run the OneDrive for business sync agent as a windows service? i.e. I can't have someone logged in to make the sync work.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    This tutorial shows how to
    run OneDrive for Business as a Windows Service. OneDrive will start when the PC boots and remain running in the background, even if no one logs on.

  • Deadline, Business Hours vs. Maintenance Windows

    I read the blog about Business Hours vs. Maintenance Windows, but I still have two questions
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/server-cloud/archive/2012/03/28/business-hours-vs-maintenance-windows-with-system-center-2012-configuration-manager.aspx
    Event 1: Application A
    No Maintenance Windows &  No Wake on LAN;
    Business hours is 5am to 10pm;
    User start laptop at 8AM and close at 5PM every day;
    Deadline is 11PM, Thursday;
    Available is 9Am, Monday, User clicks "Install Later".
    So when A will be installed?
    Event 2: Application B
    Maintenance Windows is 1AM to 4AM , NO Wake on LAN, B has not been configured that install when out of Maintenance Windows;
    Business hours is 5am to 10pm;
    User start laptop at 8AM and close at 5PM every day;
    Deadline is 11PM, Thursday;
    Available is 9Am, Monday, User clicks "Install Later".
    User never start laptop in Maintenance Windows time, so if it mean that B will never be installed?

    To add a couple of clarifying points to the article linked:
    - Business hours are meaningless after a deployment's deadline and are only used before the deadline.
    - Business hours are only relevant if a user has explicitly stated for a deployment to be enforced outside of their business hours.
    - The intent of business hours is to allow users to schedule enforcement of a required deployment before a deadline but outside of their work hours so it never interrupts them.
    The article does say all of this, just not as directly.
    For Event 2 (application b), this is why using maintenance windows usually doesn't work well for workstations. Why would the business hours be set for 5AM to 10PM though? That really makes no sense based on my third point above. Of course in this case, if
    the system is totally off, it doesn't really matter anyway.

  • How to set Business Hours with script?

    I have a single SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 server running on Windows Server 2012.
    My business has multiple locations and some of them have different hours of operation.  I am wanting to change the "Business Hours" for some of these sites and looking for the best way to do it.
    I found this guide that uses PowerShell, but I get a "Script is not signed" error:
    http://powersheller.wordpress.com/2012/11/20/sccm-2012-setting-software-center-business-hours-with-a-compliance-configuration-item/
    I saw Torsten's example using a VBscript, but I get an "Incorrect function" error:
    http://www.mssccmfaq.de/2012/03/26/software-center-business-hours-auslesen-setzen/
    Both of those web pages look like they were done a couple years ago so I hope everything still applies.
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks

    For the Powershell one... make sure you have two things. In the ConfigItem, for the Compliance test, you did check the box about "run the specified remediate script ..." right?
    for the Baseline, when you assigned it, you did check the box about remediate when you deployed it to the collection?
    If either or both of those are missing, what you are doing is monitor only... so the remediation script won't ever actually run, so it's monitoring only.  So it would make sense that you are getting non-compliants back.  You aren't ever asking
    it to really run the remediation piece.
    EDIT:  Just referencing this here... just in case:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/server-cloud/archive/2012/03/28/business-hours-vs-maintenance-windows-with-system-center-2012-configuration-manager.aspx  Sometimes people misunderstand what a business hours definition means vs. what a Maintenance Window
    (Service Window) means in Configmgr 2012.  If you aren't 100% positive what the difference is, read through that blog just to get it straight.

    These errors don't stop the business connector from starting up, but the errors are not normal behaviour. When I try to start the business connector through a Windows service then I get the message "Could not start the SAP Business Connector Service on Local Computer. Error 126: The specified module could not be found".
    I have a working business connector installation on a Windows 2000 server, and when I checked the error log of that installation I noticed that it had logged the same errors about the 'WmPartners' package. It on the other hand didn't have any problems loading the 'SAP' package.
    I tried installing the business connector on two different systems with identical results. Has anybody been able to get the business connector to work on Windows XP?

  • Very High messages not forwarded to SAP out of the Business Hours

    Dear Gurus,
    I work for a SAP partner and we have the Solution Manager 7.0 + EHP1, SP stack 24, running under a Windows Server Machine with MS Sqlserver Data Base and we're facing the following problem:
    In between the business hours we are able to forward messages to SAP manually, however, after the business hours, messages set as 'very high' priority aren't being forwarded automatically to SAP.
    We have already triple checked the configs listed on the SAP Notes 1084744, as well ran the Z-Report included in the note 1225682, however no success at all.
    Would you kindly please shed a light on this matter?
    Thank you in advance.
    Everton.

    Hello Everton,
    If you are a var Customer using the transaction type ZLFN and action profile ZSLFN0001_ADVANCED, the action profile should be AI_SDK_STANDARD.
    I don't now if that is the case.
    If your issue persists, please trigger a message in SV-SMG-SUP.
    Best regards,
    Guilherme

  • Restrict data to after Business hours only...

    hi all,
    I am trying to ascertain how many services calls are logged to a particular workgroup made after business hours i.e. after 6.00 pm(18:00hrs) and before 7am (07:00hrs), each day for past 2 months.
    so how do i restrict the data only between these times.
    i am confused as 7.00am fall on the next day early morning.??? thus data is restricted to from 6 in evening to 7:00 hrs next day in morning.
    any inputs or ideas will be highly appreciated mate..
    regards
    abhi.

    Use a record selection formula that ONLY pulls times (hopefully you have a date time field) that are between 6pm and midnight OR between midnight and 7am.

  • Building a report filter that excludes non-business hours and weekends

    Hi All,
    I need to know if this can be done in Answers:
    I have built a system in CRM that captures timestamps when SRs are moved into and out of stages in the SR resolution lifecycle. Then I have a report that uses timestampdiff to calculate the time that a SR spends in each SLA metric window (Respond, Diagnose, Resolve). The report currently displays only the hard difference based on a 24 hour clock.
    We need to be able to build a filter that will exclude any non-business hours (say outside of 9:00 to 5:00) and weekends, so that if my Respond window is 2 hours and an issue is recorded with a Response Start timestamp of 4:00pm, the report would show that if the Response Stop timestamp is at 9:30am the next business day, the SR met the required SLA.
    Does anyone know if this can be done? If so, any insight on how to build it? I've seen a document that explains how to exclude weekends from workflow, but can the same thing be done in reporting?
    This is a very urgent request and any help here is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Exclude weekends you can do but not business hours but perhaps you can create something....if timestampdiff(Days) greater than 1 then take off 16 hours....Mike Lairsons book has the formula for excluding weekends and I think someone may have posted it in this forum if you search for it.
    cheers

  • Server Utilization report (for processor) for business hour is incorrect

    Hi,
    We are using SCOM 2012 SP1 UR3 in our environment.
    Recently got a query from one of the team that the processor utilization report is incorrect for business hours.
    First I pulled a SCOM report (Performance by Utilization) for business hours say 1st Feb to 15th Feb processor.
    Then I pulled a Raw report from SQL DW targetting % Processor time , exported it to excel & filtered it for the same duration which gave an average value of 86% for processor.
    Finally, also pulled the same data from default report (Operating System Performance) under Windows Server 2008 Operating System which also gave me an average value of 86%.
    To summarize Performance by Utilization  does not calculate the accurate business hours & needs to be corrected.

  • Would it cause any harm to stop the DBworker process on the logger and let it restart during business hours?

    I'm trying to connect to a database in an ICM script for the first time and I added a new database user to the Router registry. I think I must have to restart the service to activate the new credentials. Would it cause any harm to stop the DBworker process on the logger and let it restart during business hours?

    Lisa,
    You shouldn't need to restart any processes. If you already had the database setup in Database Lookup Explorer before putting the credentials in the registry, you can just make a change to the Database Loookup entry, and the Router will try to reconnect.
    Also, the Logger has nothing to do with ICM database lookups - the DBworker is part of the Router processes.

  • At&t business internet services dial-up configuration

    Hi
    Rarely, but at times when traveling, I require to connect to Internet via dial-up. I use Mac's USB modem, which dialed up after first install no problem, but I could not connect to Web pages via Safari. After some fussing around here's what worked for me (at&t business internet services, basic plan, credit card customer):
    System Preferences>Network
    Telephone: enter your access number WITHOUT hyphens or spaces, "202xxxxxxx," for example
    Account Name: internet.usinet.xxxxx where xxxxx is your actual account user ID
    Click "Apply"
    Click Connect
    Surf the Web.
    (Note to at&t, which now offers wi-fi hotspots at Starbucks & McDonald's, but its proprietary dialer software is only supported by Windows' OS--this is not good!; support Mac OS)

    Great info Flowers. Though your note to AT&T should be directed at them directly.

  • Dial-backup - business hours limit

    Hi everybody,
    I´m working in a lab that  includes dial-backup for a VSAT link (satellite link). This part of the  lab is working excelent, dial-backup goes up when the VSAT connection is  lost, and goes down when the VSAT link is recovered.
    So, all is  ok but... I need to grant dial-backup access only in business hours (ex:  9 am to 5 pm) and deny these the rest of the day.
    I  worked with time range + access list + dial-list but it didn´t work for  me. I was following the steps of this link: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk801/tk133/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080094089.shtml.
    Is there  other way to do this or other idea?
    Regards.

    Todd,
    Sorry for the delay but i was on vacation. At below you´ll find the configuration, specifically highlighted in red the configuration regarding to block dial-in connections. This configuration intends to permit the dial-in connections only on business hours. I know that just is blocking IP traffic but I did not find a way to block PPP or other protocol in a low level.
    Could you help me?

  • SCCM 2012 - Waiting for a Service Window

    I'm trying to send a package to a bunch of computers but everything shows as "In Progress" because they're "waiting for a service window".  The thing is, it's a Sunday morning, all the clients are configured with normal work hours, there are no maintenance
    windows configured on any collection.  What am I missing?

    Here is what I get, I'm confused.
    <![LOG[No Service Windows exist for this type. Will check if the program can run in the All Programs window...]LOG]!><time="01:12:35.553+240" date="11-04-2012" component="ServiceWindowManager" context="" type="1" thread="1032" file="servicewindowhandler.cpp:1517">

  • Software Center - past - due will be installed & maintenance/business hours

    Hi All
    I am struggling with some issues with installing software on clients.
    Much of the software I have deployed can end up sitting in client software center as 'past due - will be installed' or 'pastdue - will be retried'.
    They'll sit there until someone does something..meaning.. You need to manually start the deployment.. Then it installs fine.
    I always set ' User Experience - When installation deadline is reached..... to "Software Installation" ticked.
    There's apparently a client settings in Administration-->Client Settings->"computer Agent" which can affect the install as well "Additional Software manages the deployment......" this is set to "no".
    Business hours on clients are set to 5-22.. I believe this is standard.
    There is NO maintenance windows set for any of my collections.
    What's strange is that some clients install software I deploy just fine.. while others I deploy to at the same time.. can leave the software as 'past due'. Meaning some clients install as they should while others end up in "past due".
    Can someone guide me in the right direction..
    Kindest regards, Martin

    Hi Torsten..
    Good call..
    This is what VLC player returns in monitoring->deployments:
    Failed to locate content error 0x87d01107 Failed to access all the provided program locations. This program may retry if the maximum retry count has not been reached.
    but again.. if I go to the client and click on "try again" .. it installs..
    Kindest regards, Martin

  • Customer business hour week rule entries

    Dear experts,
    SAP CRM 7.0
    We are using the CRM customer business hours functionality so that calling times and visiting times for the customers can be defined in the system. We always call customers on different weekly frequencies like every week, every second week, every fourth week etc. but the list of these week frequnecies only has entries till every tenth week.
    However we need to add entries into it till 'every 24th week'. Could someone please help me know how this needs to be achieved?
    thanks & regards
    Ritwik Sharma

    That's terrible customer service.  Though my time is very valuable, I'm more angry that I was told that I would be credited when it wasn't true.  This was not my error, but Verizon's error and Verizon should take ownership of their mistake and honor what was said.  This is all in addition to 3 faulty phones and loss of service for days at a time.
