Is there something you have to install, or is every integration with BW or ERP possible out of the box?
If not, are there licence costs?

  • Dashboard Designer *.swf Business Object connection issue

We have *.swf file generated from SAP Dashboard Designer.
It uses database to retrieve information for report.
We have placed *.swf to our web application so that users have a possibility to review reports.
Let say our web application with *.swf file is placed on 192.168.0.1 server and Business Object is placed on 192.168.0.2 server.
The problem is that we are getting an error when we are trying to connect to report via *.swf file (http://192.168.0.1/report.swf) from client machine (from any computer in Internet) because the server with the Business Object (192.168.0.2) is not exposed to Internet. However it is exposed to 192.168.0.1.
So, the question is - is it possible to connect to BO (192.168.0.2) by oppening the *.swf that is placed on http://192.168.0.1/report.swf when BO server is exposed only to 192.168.0.1? Please, advise.

    Hi Danylo,
Can you provide a screenshot of the error message that you get when you try to access the dashboard?
Also let us know what data connections are defined in the dashboard.

  • Business Objects vs. SAP Strategy Management

    Hi all,
I am new to this forum and would like to post a message regarding the recent news on SAP and Business Objects.
Business Objects has more than 6000 CPM customers and in then meantime we find many statements like http://www.gartner.com/DisplayDocument?id=530626 in the web
Since the announcement a couple of weeks have passed. My question is, if you have detailed analysis on how the Balanced Scorecard solution of both companies will differ respectively overlap. Are there any documents on that point available? And are there any consequences to be expected e.g. with respect to the price model?
    Thanks for your help,
    Alessandro

    Hi Alessandro,
I fully agree with Prakash's reply - at the moment Nenshad's comments represent the 'only version of the truth' regarding the BOBJ acquisition.
However, there is still a possibility to add some useful information on this as you are referring to a 'Balanced Scorecard' solution in general. As there are currently two sides to this equasion: SAP and BOBJ, for the SAP part we can be more specific:
SAP Strategy Management (SSM) based on the technology acquired with Pilot Systems Co. in February 2007 is the tool of choice for scorecarding in the <u>current</u> CPM portfolio of SAP (SAP's current CPM portfolio is based on the acquisitions of Outlooksoft, Pilot and the reseller agreement with Acorn). This reduces the complexity a little bit as you no longer have to contemplate which of SAP's own scorecarding solutions is the leading one <u>at the moment</u>. SEM-CPM Balanced Scorecard is retired - being put in maintenance mode - and all customers encouraged to move to Strategy Management, facilitated by a planned migration utility.
Shall you want to learn more about SAP Strategy Management, feel free to refer to my blog series (e.g. <a href="/people/karol.bliznak/blog/2007/09/12/one-blog-is-not-enough--how-to-manage-performance-management).

  • Business Objects connectivity to Oracle

    Hello all,
SID SERIAL# USERNAME SCHEMANAME OSUSER MACHINE TERMINAL PROGRAM LOGON_TIME
    105 144 SYS boapp boprod WIReportServer@boprod (TNS V1-V3) 3/16/2011 6:00:57 AM
    92 13453 SYS boapp boprod WIReportServer@boprod (TNS V1-V3) 3/15/2011 2:19:55 PM
In a database that I inherited recently I noticed the above connections coming from a Business Objects server. What was wierd was that the connections were logged in as SYS. I'm pretty sure that no one in the Business objects team knows the SYS database password. I'm not sure how this could be possible...I also noticed from the above output that the schemname was null. Any ideas?
    Oracle version: 10.2.0.4
    Host: HP-UX 11.11
    BusinessObjects R2 Service Pack 6
    Host: HP-UX 11.11
    Thanks for your time...

Make sure no user has been granted SYSDBA privilege; check output of:
select * from v$pwfile_users where sysdba='TRUE';If this query returns a username different from SYS then this user can connect with SYSDBA privilege and his/her SYSDBA sessions will have USERNAME set to SYS.

  • Business Objects connect to  Solution Manager system?

    Hi
1.How to Monitor Business Objects in SM?
2.How to Connet Business Objects to SM?
Please let me know if ther are any SIM or PDF for configuration of BOJ for SM.
    Regards,
    Neni

    1)     Install the specified Microsoft security patch in accordance with the instructions in SAP Note 1375494 in BOBJ Server
    2)     Download SAPHOSTAGENT711_56-20006321.SAR and uncared.
    3)     The login user requires authorization to create a service. To set this specific authorization, do the following:
    a.     On the Microsoft Windows host, choose Start Control Panel  Administrative Tools  Local Security Policy .
    b.     In the navigation bar, choose Security Settings  Local Policies  User Rights Assignment , and then double-click the line Log on as a service.
    c.     Add the login user to the list by choosing the Add User or Groupu2026 button and entering this user.
    4)     SAP HOSTAGENT version 7.11 instead 7.20. Then again upgraded to 7.20 version
    5)     Downloaded the attached file ewa4boe.zip in SAP Note 1393207 onto C:\EWA folder of BOBJ server and extracted.  As administration user, executed the batch script enable_ewa_monitoring.bat by invoking enable_ewa_monitoring.bat
    I hope this resolves

  • Business Objects used in SAP OVS

    Hi, experts.
How do I know the Business Object used in an SAP OVS?
    Please kindly answer.
    Regards.

    Hi, Sunil Maurya,
I am sorry that I misunderstood my problem.
My BO has a field that uses CompanyID.OVS.
I want the companyID of the CustomerInvoiceRequest.xbo to use as an ID for my custom BO to get some other field but CustomerInvoiceRequest only uses AccountBusinessPartnerID.OVS.
And what I am getting with this code
    "companyId = this.BuyerParty.PartyKey.PartyID.content"
is just account id.  What i want is a CompanyID that I can use to retrieve other field from my own BO.
I am really sorry if my writhing is complicated and hard to understand.
    Regards.

  • Cannot see Business Objects Repository in SAP production server from Worskpace - SMP 2.3

    Hi all,
I have problems with reading RFC from production server, because BOR isn't visible at all in Mobile Workspace. Maybe I do something wrong so let me explain what am trying to accomplish. I need to make applications work on production server. Until now they worked and were tested on development server. Applications are native Android with MBO (SMP 2.3.3). So my guess is that I need to transport RFC functions from development to production, which I did, then to make new connection to production server in workspace and generate MBOs and code from them that will finally replace the old MBO code in Android application. If that is the procedure, then the only problem is that I can't see those RFC in production. My user have sap all privileges and in them S_RFC authorization object so I guess authorization isn't the problem. I also tried to switch the language in workspace connection because last time (on development) that was the problem. Any idea somebody?

Well there is only one mobile server. I don't know exactly how they (client) think it will work but when I say production server I refer to SAP EIS production server.
Anyway the solution to the problem with BOR visibility is this note:
Note 706195 - BAPIs are missing in the component hierarchy display
Thanks Midhun! I will probably have more questions..

    Hello Vikram,
I recommend to post this query to the [Integration Kits - SAP|BusinessObjects Integration Kits; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to the BusinessObjects Integration Kit for SAP.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all SAP Kit queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • How Business Objects connects with Composite Studio 4.6.0

    Hi,
    Info on Composite:
Composite Studio is third party tool which connects to multiple data sources and executes the scripts (similiar to VIEW) to retrieve the results. One has to make call to the scripts to get the results.
    more information: http://www.compositesw.com
    Requirement:
Trying to connect BO XI R3.1 to composite as to call scripts to get data and then create Universe on the same.
Connectivity should be JDBC or oriented towards Java (preference for Java but not mandatory)
    Tool: Composite Studio 4.6.0
    Driver: composite46.dll
    Driver location: C:\Program Files\Composite Software\CIS 4.6.0\apps\odbc
    Regards,
    Arjun Kushwaha
    Edited by: Arjun_Kushwaha on Nov 12, 2009 8:43 AM

It will be great if you could let us know how to built the Universe on top of Composite, may be using ODBC connection.
I tried by creating the user / system DSN but these connections doesn't appear when tried to create the Universe in designer (using BO XI 3.1)
We can then try to build using JDBC connection.
The data source is very scattered and Composite is in the position to handle them all and hence we cannot eliminate composite and are forced to use it as one of the underlying layer to connect to actual data.

  • Business Objects Integration with SAP

I am trying to develop a seminar entitled "SAP Information Delivery with SAP" that will include a demo showing reports running against an SAP environment (IDES?).  The environment, I would assume would be an IDES/BW environment.
My challenge is, even though I work for a BO partner, we are not an SAP customer, and I have no means of accessing IDES to setup for this demo.
Any advice for me?  I've looked at leasing access to a remote SAP system which is expensive (e.g., www.michaelmanagement.com) and may not have the reliability that I will need for this seminar.
I have SAP experience and a BO XI environment running. I just need to hook my BO XI environment up to an SAP environment to learn more about it and to use for the demo in my seminar.
    Regards,
    Dave Hofer

I should have mentioned that I started with my partner/manager and they could not\would not help me.  Of course, they are more focused (at the SMB level) on sales revenue and have no incentive to help partners increase their service revenue.

  • Business Objects universe Create disabled In SAP Data Services

    Hi ,
I am trying to to create Business Objects Universe from SAP Data Services . But create and update options are disabled. I have the Information design tool and SAP Data services on the same machine .
    Please see the below screenshot.
Please help me any settings I have to change to get enabled.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramana.

    Hello Venkata Ramana Pandi,
As Manoj Dhyani mention in the above thread, try changing it into CWM format and give it a try.
    Follow the below steps:
Export the DS datastore in CWM format, select the datastore and enter a XML file name
Open the Universe Builder (this option will be in BOE Program menu), you have a option in Universe Builder to import XML exported from Data Services/Data Integrator, check if that creates your Universe successfully
to use Metadata Exchange do the following
    Open Data Services Desginer
Click on tools Menu -> Metadata Exchange
    In the Metadata Exchange window
Select Export Data Services metadata to a file
Select DI CWM as metadata format
enter location for xml file (C:\temp)
Select the datastore you want to create Universe for
    Click OK
Check for file named repo_export.xml in the C:\temp folder or the folder that you specified
    Open Universe Builder and Select
    Data Integrator bridge
and use the xml file as input to create universe
