Business Objects in portal

Hi all,
I am working on a concept where i need to have some business objects form certain back end sysytems.
Going more in depth i ma trying to object based navigation where i need certain buiness objects to be interacted .
Please help me in this regard.
I want a business object with some operations which accept some paarmeters and based on that they return some o/p.
Thansk & Regards,
Lokesh.

Lokesh,
From reading your post, I'm not quite certain to understand fully what you want, esp. your subject includes "portal".  However, in regards to your statement:
I want a business object with some operations which accept some paarmeters and based on that they return some o/p
It is reasonable to use WebI with prompts, and based on the answer to the prompts certain blocks or display of data can occur in your report (the function is called UserResponse).  Perhaps you can investigate this function more fully to explore fulfilling the requirements that you have.
Thanks,
John

  • How to LInk Business Object with Portal

    HI,
My exact requirement is that i want to trigger a event of BUS10001006 business object through Portal. In Portal i have an iview with a parameter and a Delete button. I enter the Material number and then press the delete button. On Trigger of delete button a BO event shoud trigger which in turn will trigger the Workflow.
The Workflow part is done but we are not sure how to link the BO/event of BO with Portal so that it triggers workflow.

BOBJ integration into portal is in NO WAY similar to ESS business package deployment. For that matter, it is not a business package at all.
BOBJ itself is a web based application that interfaces with BW to retrieve different types of reports. So for the integration with SAP Portal you would not need to deploy any content (Except a few par files) on the portal.
Basically, for BOBJ integration you would have two options:
    1. Integration using the iview template or URL iviews
    2. KM Based integration
This topic has been discussed many a times and there is lot of information out there on SDN.
You can start with the following link:

Please revert if you have any specific questions.

  • Business Objects In Portal Content Studio

    Hi All,
I Installed a business package for CRM in EP 6.0 SP09 and I created aliases SAP_BW and SAP_CRM for the CRM and BW systems and assigned roles to users and was accessing them.
The Business Objects Folder in Portal content studio was empty even after the installation of BP, but Later when I checked that I found a Folder "SAP_BW"  under "Business Objects" Folder. I just want to know how did these objects come there and how
Could someone please clarify this to me.
    Thank you

    Hi Ignacio,
Should they be transported manually to the QA system or will they again be created automatically when I start accessing these BW iviews in QA system.
will it save me the loading time of a template if I transport this business objects folder to QA system by creating a transport package.
    Thank you
    Shiva

  • Trex search for business object in portal

    Hi
I would like to build a KM search iView in portal which enables users to search for business object from backend system.
I have built up the indices for business object in the backend system. In portal->trex monitor->display index details, I can see the indices which are created from backend system. But soemhow, I feel the indices are not usable, as I can not see them in the indexing monitor. And after I created an KM search iview with search component 'search_input_indexes', my index created from backend can also not be shown in the preview of the iview.
I guess there is some step missing. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks and best regards
    Yingzhi

    Hi Yingzhi,
with current releases, business objects indexed through the ABAP-based Search Engine Service (SES) or directly from certain SAP solutions to TREX are not by default accessible from KM.
The next release after NW2004s will enable Enterprise Search and provide the meta-search engine for parallel search access to business objects and KM documents.
Please see the following presentation for some explanations on SES and Enterprise Search and note stated time-lines:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/73f3eedf-0501-0010-0aa6-950694c02f99
In some monitors that access TREX directly from the portal, you may see the business object indexes, but they are not actually known to KM.

  • PortalRuntimeException in Business Object document iview No portal component associated with the following context

    Hi all,
We are stumped with a problem in our QA Enterprise Portal (7.3.1 Sp7) that throws a portal runtime error when we preview a Business Objects document iview.  The Business Objects Server versions are 4.0 SP5 and/or 4.1 SP3.
The error is caught in the the defaultTrace file, /usr/sap/QNW/J00/j2ee/cluster/server0/log
    [EXCEPTION]
com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntimeException: There is no portal component associated with the following context:
    pcd:portal_content/com.summit.SES_BI/com.summit.iviews/Daily_Margin
    at com.sap.portal.prt.component.PortalComponentContext.<init>(PortalComponentContext.java:93)
Here is what we have tried
    * Confirmed the iviews exist in the PCD, by browsing to the content folders and right lick, preview on the iview.
    * Our PRD and DEV systems work correctly and are on same versions of EP Runtime and java. 7.3.1.7.0.201..
    * Occurs with all Businessobjects iviews from the QA portal and all doc types, webis, dashboards. Tried creating new iview.
    * Reapplied the com.sap.businessobjects.iviews.templates.epa to the Portal from t he BI 4.1 SP3 distribution
    * Deleted and recreated the BI portal system connector using the SAP BOBJ system template set path to http://bi-qas:8080/BOE
    * Set the embed key value in the BI system connector property and in the custom global.properties file, restarted tomcat and SIA services
    * Set permissions for everyone end user on the content folders and the BI system connector
    * Confirmed Single sign on configured correctly between BI and Portal
    * Confirmed that the QA BI server is configured correctly by directing the working DEV Portal to the QA BI server.
    * Performed actions in note 1709737
We are certainly stuck and the defaultTrace file is not very informative.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

This is resolve with note 1615838  - SAP Netweaver Enterprise Portal 7.3 iView creation with BI 4.0 results in exceptions.
The note includes a file portalapp.xml that need to be inserted into com.sap.businessobjects.iviews.par that is included in the BI server distribution.
    Then deploy the ear file.....
Odd thing is that the note mentions 4.0 and we are on 4.1 SP3...

  • HR Business objects are missing in the portal

    Hello,
We are implementing performance management from the latest EHP4 and there is an implementation step that requires adding object based navigation to the Employee business object located under the pcd location Business Objects->Human Resources folder.
The problem is that we don't have such a folder in the portal and when I try to import BO from the backend I don't see such one.
Any idea which portal/backend  business package brings those objects with it?
    Roy

    Hey Roy,
Hope you're doing fine. Is it not under the Migrated Content Folder?

  • Portal integration with Business Objects

    Hi,
I have a customer who is looking for Oracle portal solution. They have an sso in place using Business Objects and they also have Active Directory for storing user information. They just want to login to Portal through SSO and access their Business Objects Application.
Any inputs on how this can be done?

    Hi Vinay,
We have done the similar kind of implementation, the scenario was same where client has more than 500 rpeorts and all needs to be shown on Portal.
For this we used the HTML file which is hosted in Portal KM and all the report links were provided in HTML page.
For Security purpose we have created KM Navigation iView using LinkListExplorer template where each report is controled using the KM permissions.
Few reports which needs personalizations are controlled using URL iView where Info view link is used and the page is opened in new window so that the SSO will be taken care and less load on Portal.
All the reports are working absolutely fine.
    Thanks.

  • Publishing Business Objects Reports in Portal

    Hi All,
    1. In BO we have different reports like, web intelligence, crystal, deski reports. By default sap provided two iviews
            A) Business Objects Enterprise Integration Kit - IView Template
            B) Crystal Enterprise Report
By using Business Objects Enterprise Integration Kit - IView Template I am able to call all the reports (by using report id).but for this i need to create iviews manually.what is the best practise to publish BO reports in portal.
    Regards
    Sasikanth

    Hi Kundan,
If BOE is integrated with portal then the reports will be available in KM.You can use the KM Navigational iView or URL iview to the Specific location in KM,to show in portal.Kindly refer the link for further details.[BO Reports in portal|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/IntegrationofBOEXI3.1intotheSAPEnterprisePortal+7.x]

  • Portal logoff not clearing business objects SSO connection

Is there a way to clear the saved SSO information from the business objects session in the background?
    The scenerio;
On a computer shared by multiple users
UserA Logs on to the SAP Enterprise portal, navigates to an iview that uses OpenDocument to run an xcelsius dashboard.  Single signon works great and dashboard is displayed.  This dashboard resfreshes on open and data retrieved is correct based on this users autorizations in BW.  The user Clicks the logoff link in the masthead of the Enterprise portal, the portal session and its SAP logon ticket are closed and the Portal logon page is redisplayed.
UserB logs on the the SAP Enterprise portal, navigates to the same iview, the dashboard runs and retireves the data, but the data displayed is based on the BW autorizations for UserA.
I verified that the SSO connection that userB is using to retrieve data is left over from UserA.  (I did this by simply opening an InfoView window and it shows the userid of UserA in the Welcome message.
Closing the Browser window between each user login takes care of the problem, but is not really something we can count on our users doing.

    Hi Gail,
We are also facing same issue as you had, Integrated BI launchpad with Portal and SSO is working fine via portal. But issue is already opened reports or Business objects will not clearing as you had after log off and lo-gin back.
Can i setup any property to clear the BOBJ cookies or Can i create sap note for logoff option button on BOBJ via portal.
Can you please suggest me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Naveen
