  • Infocube Business Object.

    Hello,
    I am looking for some help on how to use InfoCube Business Object?
    I am trying to to call the GetList method on the InfoCube business object. I am very new to SAP BW so any pointers could be helpful.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sheetal

    Hi,
    I believe you are talking about object BUS6112 (Infocube). Method GetList corresponds to BAPI InfoCubeGetList, the corresponding function module in ABAP is BAPI_CUBE_GETLIST (I am not sure how familiar you are with ABAP or SAP in general).
    On the BW system, go to txn BAPI, drill down to object InfoCube and expand it to see all the methods/BAPIs available. Choose GetList and click the 'Documentation' tab on the right window. This gives you some description about this method. (This method gives you a list of infocubes available in BW as mentioned there.)
    To test this method, go to SE37 txn, type in the corresponding function name BAPI_CUBE_GETLIST, and press F8. On the next screen you can specify the input values and press F8 again to check the results.
    hope this helps,
    cheers,

  • Business Object Infoview very slow on my PC

    We are using BO XI3.0 on a Windows server with an oracle database on a unix platform.
    We have build severall dashboard for data analysis, each one with "interactive metric trend" and multidimensional queries analysis.
    We found Infoview very slow to display the performance data and also to run and get the multidimensional queries data. Keep in mind that the DB is not big (less than 100 K of row)
    The users are using windows Internet Explorer version 6 for accessing Infoview.
    Are there any requirements on the client site such as required RAM or specific version of Java ?
    Is there any tool for analysing the infoview performance ?
    Thank you.

    Can you try increasing you Client Side java virtual memory by setting up following variable.
    JAVA_OPTS = -Xmx512m
    Also, Check your server performance, It should have enough space on the drive on which BO is installed, also do check memory,  you can shutdown unrequired servers, like Dashboard,PM,Desktop INtelligence, Crystal Reports, if you are not going to use it.

  • Business Objects and Data Services on VMWare

    My company has a requirement to deploy Business Objects 4.0 as well as Data Services.
    We are going to be deploying them on Windows Server 2008 R2, hosted on a VMWare cluster.  I have reviewed the PAM, but my question is:
    Will these run using SQL Server 2008 R2 as a database? I see "SQL Server 2008" and I am just curious whether R2 is also supported?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    SQL Server 2008 R2 is listed in the PAM for DS as Repo DB. For BI4 it is also working and supported. I installed it already on it.

  • BO Cluster Performance is Very slow

    Hi All,
    We have installed BO servers in cluster with the following hardware configuration and the peformance of the application login and accessing the content is very very slow.
    Please share your tips to improve performance of application login and accessing reports.
    This is new server hence no users at the movement. I'm login CMC/BI as a Administrator and tis taking lot of time to show homepage,server list, users list.
    Two servers details:
    Each one has Win2012 OS R2
    Each one has RAM 40GB
    Each one 6 core processors
    Each one has local disk 100 GB
    Both has cluster storage 100gb for frs
    Back end database SYBASE ASE- 100 GB,11GB RAM
    Network bandwidth 10GB

    Hi S K,
    Try below
    1 ) Tomcat Parameter Changes
         --> Start > programs > Tomcat  > tomcat config > Java > Java Options > Change parameter                      value from -XX:MaxPermSize=384M to 512M
         --> Start > programs > Tomcat  > tomcat config > Java > maximum memory allocation 2048
    2) Make sure java version is compatible with BO , try java 7 Update 21 or 45 to get max support.
    3) Enable "Keep Temp files on your computer"  in java --> General --> Settings ->
    4) Reduce Security from High to Medium in Java --> Security
    5) For content go with Webi Processing Server clone with below values
         Unv Cache Max SIze : 50
         Max Connections : 25
         Enable Memory Analysis
         Lower Threshold : 10000
         Upper : 12000
         Max : 16000
         O/P Cache Dir : Provide path by naming it as Webicahchedir
         Images Directory: Provide path by naming it as Webicahchedir
         Max Doc cache Size (KB) : 2000000
    6) Cross check Java heap size for all custom (Split) Adaptive Processing Servers to make sure it has enough memory to get expected performance.
    7) If your Java Web server (Tomcat) is running on dedicated cluster (Node) try to restart server and observe Tomcat Process performance in Task Mgr.
    Thanks,

  • Business Rules Run Very Slow

    For our planning forms we use to have a Calc Script run on save - since we did not yet use business rules we would specificy all children of a certain member in the calc script so it would run multiple members thorugh the calc script. We thought BR would save our lives as we could pass just that one child through the calc script on save and have it calc just the one child with the use of a business rule with run time prompt variable of the member of form. This does indeed work, but the calc script takes 30 seconds to calc ALL children and the BR takes 56 seconds to calc just the one child. Are business rules typically a lot slower? If so, is it the passing of the variable? Is there anyway to improve performance on them? Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

    Hi,
    BR are essentially calc scripts, which are sent to Essbase server. Although, you can expect some delay due to web interface, the delay should not be very significant.
    I think you should start by looking at the way your BR is written. Just copy the calc script to the BR and make the 1 member change to pick up parameter.
    Let me know if it is still very slow.
    Cheers,
    RS

  • Very slow upload speed via infinity 2 (business) u...

    Very slow upload speed via infinity 2 (business) unlimited after phone line fix (street cabinet) ?
    Had my line fixed today by engineer (no dial tone).
    Download rate near normal but upload = 0.73Mbps!?
    I reset modem and router after he left and appreciate my profile is probably in need of some TLC after a weeks line fault, but is this normal in this situation? I heard it can take some time to reprofile my line and before it was fixed it was even worse at 0.10Mbps
    Just seems very low considered the line is now operational again.

    48Hrs+ on from residential line reconnection my business infinity 2 broadband upload speed is now approaching normal speed levels.
    What a 10 days that was all because some ass disturbed the cabling in the street cabinet!
    Yes I'm aware I have business broadband and am talking about it in a residential based forum, but my actual phone line is still residential that it is supplied over and the business broadband product is much the same animal as that supplied to residential customers i.e. Infinity 2 Unlimited. Only the mail and option of static i.p. appear different - that is all.
    Jeez.

  • Essbase Cluster COPYAPP very slow

    Hello,
    I set the Essbase cluster version 11.1.2, and when I trying to copyapp using esscmd it very slow compare to preveouse version none weblogic v11
    on version 11 copy application 1.2GB take 3 min
    on new version 11.1.2 copy application takes more then 10 min
    what could be wrong that I set, or area that I can take look
    thank you,

    Hi Prateek ,
    First and best way to see what is happening with this particular node would be to set the following trace sections with full verbose tracing :
    folders*,requestaudit,systemdatabase,socketrequest
    With these tracing sections set access from DIS 2nd node and wait till the final results come .
    Once either the folders show up or operation times out navigate to View server output and refresh the section , capture the logs to see if there is any particular section that creates this bottleneck .
    Also check how good is the connection from DIS to the second node host machine ? That also might create a specific issue like this .
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    I have very similar problem. Suddenly Firefox stopped work - It was working few days after ver. 4 update. I was looking everywhere for some solution but nothing worked.
    - uninstalled firewall - did not worked
    - added full exception for Firefox into the firewall - did not worked
    - Firefox reinstall - did not worked
    - Firefox complete reinstall (registry included) - did not worked
    - IPv6 diseabling - did not worked
    - diferent proxy options (no proxy, system proxy, autodetect proxy) - did not worked
    - new firefox profile - did not worked
    - complete coockies, history... deleted - did not worked
    - there is only one solution which partly works - I have used public proxy addresses for Firefox but the ping is (750ms), down/up (0.8MB/0.2MB originaly (10MB/2MB) and yes I have tried different proxy server from different countries from my included.
    - IE is working perfectly and without proxy
    - other companies browser - did not worked too
    - only IE is working
    - I have used three different malware, trojans, spyware, anti-virus programs and nothing
    It seems to me as hopeless situation or very clever move from Microsoft, I am forced to use IE - at least this works
    Any ideas, solutions?
    System Windows 7, firewall Comodo Internet security
    Thanks everyone for the help

  • CNA becomes very SLOW after adding new switch to cluster

    Added a CAT-2970 to my cluster and now CNA is acting very slow, especially when I attempt managing the new switch. I am still below the 16 node cluster limit. I did initially find a CRC on the new switch trunk port int. and noticed that it came up as Dynamic Auto/ISL and the core was at Dynamic Desireable/ISL, so I hard set it to Dyn-desire to match... still very slow CNA.
    The problem was not there before and after restarting the application, it appears to be fine... until I attempt to manage/view/reach the new switch - and then EVERYTHING in CNA goes slow again (hourglass of death) for some period of time.
    Yet, telnet & ping to new switch is always fast, no problems at all. Strictly seems to be a CNA problem...
    Ideas??
    Thanks,
    Al

    Looking at the outline given by u,there may be several reasons for this slow access such as loose connection, improper trunking and so on.Ofcourse, CNA problem can also be one cause.But, if u r sure that it is a CNA problem, why not u try for a new version of CNA?First of all, which version of CNA r u using?is it CNA 1.0 or 2.0 version.If so, try installing or upgrading CNA3.0.
    For detailed info on installing and upgrading to CNA3.0, the following URL will be useful.

  • Bug with Business Objects 3.1 Client installation. Very annoying indeed.

    I have faced a few issues while developing with the Client installation (which includes the Client Development SDK) of business objects 3.1.
    Some of the code just don't work with the client installation. They give Invalid cast exceptions. The same code will work fine with the server installation.
    For a simple example, consider the following straightforward code to set the destination-
    String query = "Select SI_DEST_SCHEDULEOPTIONS, SI_PROGID "
              + " From CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS Where SI_PARENTID=29 and "
              + " SI_NAME='CrystalEnterprise.DiskUnmanaged'";
            InfoObjects destinationInfoObjects = infostore.Query(query);
            InfoObject infoObject = destinationInfoObjects[1];
            //Set the options for the disk unmanaged destination
            DestinationPlugin destinationPlugin = (DestinationPlugin)infoObject;
            DiskUnmanaged diskUnmanaged = (DiskUnmanaged)destinationPlugin;
            DestinationOptions destinationOptions = diskUnmanaged.ScheduleOptions;
            DiskUnmanagedOptions diskUnmanagedOptions = new DiskUnmanagedOptions(destinationOptions);
            diskUnmanagedOptions.DestinationFiles.Add("C:\\");
            diskUnmanagedOptions.UserName = "your_username";  //Change these according to your logon settings.
            diskUnmanagedOptions.Password = "your_password";
            schedulingInfo = publication.SchedulingInfo;
            schedulingInfo.Destination.SetFromPlugin(diskUnmanaged);
    This code will give an invalid cast exception as follows-
    System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.InfoObject' to type 'CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.DestinationPlugin'.
    This happens at the line -
    DestinationPlugin destinationPlugin = (DestinationPlugin)infoObject;
    Now, this code works fine on a box where the server is installed.
    I have noticed this with a few other areas as well where the code fails with client installation but works on the server. This is really annoying because all the deveopers now have to install the server on their boxes.
    It is actually worse if just the Client Developer SDK is installed (and not the whole client). You would expect that just the SDK installation would be enough for one to do the coding. But doesn't work at all.
    Have others not faced this issue?

    Hi Dan,
    Thanks for your response. However, what I meant by client installation is exactly as what you have said below.
    I start the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 Setup, go to custom install, which shows up the following options-
    Client Components
    Web Tier Components
    Server Components
    Database Access
    etc. etc.
    Initially I unselected all, drilled down Client Components and just installed the Developer Components. But the code used to fail with an InvalidCast exception when we used to cast an InfoObject to a Report as following-
    Report report = (Report)infoObjects[1];
    This code used to work fine with earlier installations of business objects.
    This happened with all 3 of us who installed just the Dev components. To get over this we installed the whole Client Components and the above problem got resolved.
    And now we realize that even the whole Client Comp is not enough because it gives the casting problem while doing the destination stuff.

  • Very slow query on xml db objects

    Hi, I'm a dba (new to xml db) trying to diagnose some very slow queries against xml tables. The following takes 2 + hours to return a count of ~700,000 records. We have some that take 10-15 hours.
    select count(*)
    from MEDTRONICCRM a, table(xmlsequence(extract(value(a),'/MedtronicCRM/Counters/
    Histogram'))) b ,
    table(xmlsequence(extract(value(b),'/Histogram/Row'))) c, table(xmlsequence(extract(value(c),'/Row/Column'))) d
    The explain plan from a tkprof looks like this:
    Rows Row Source Operation
    1 SORT AGGREGATE (cr=1586294 r=27724 w=0 time=334399181 us)
    761020 NESTED LOOPS (cr=1586294 r=27724 w=0 time=6285597846 us)
    209395 NESTED LOOPS (cr=1586294 r=27724 w=0 time=1294406875 us)
    16864 NESTED LOOPS (cr=1586294 r=27724 w=0 time=188247898 us)
    544 TABLE ACCESS FULL OBJ#(26985) (cr=1993 r=548 w=0 time=171380 us)
    16864 COLLECTION ITERATOR PICKLER FETCH (cr=0 r=0 w=0 time=82831582 us)
    209395 COLLECTION ITERATOR PICKLER FETCH (cr=0 r=0 w=0 time=939691917 us)
    761020 COLLECTION ITERATOR PICKLER FETCH (cr=0 r=0 w=0 time=3399611143 us)
    I noticed the following statemnt in a previous thread:
    "Indexing is not the answer here... The problem is the storage model. You are current storing all of the collections as serialized lobs. This means that all manipluation of the collection is done in memory. We need to store the collections as nested tables to get peformant queries on them. You do this by using the store VARRAY as table clause to control which collections are stored as nested tables. "
    Could this be the problem? How do I tell which storage model we are using.
    Thanks ,
    Heath Henjum

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
    Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
    Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/{la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
    Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Crystal Reports Moved from one file server to another - very slow opening

    Hello,
    I am new here, and I am in need of a solution. If I am not in the correct forum, please advise.
    Our crystal reports were moved from an old file server to a new file server.  Once the old file server was shut down the reports opened very slow in Designer and in our 3rd party application.  Our server team determined that the reports are still attempting to connect to the old file server.  If the old file server is brought online or dns is changed to reflect another machine that it can make a connection to, it opens with no delay.
    For some reason, not every report is affected.  Most of the reports are Crystal 8.5, but I have some Crystal XI reports that do the same thing.  I can't find any reference in the reports to any file server/location....
    I need to resolve this issue on the Crystal 8.5 version due to the application that we are running.
    Is there a way to fix this other than to recreate the reports (I have over 400 of them)?
    Any assistance or advice is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Nancy

    Hi Nancy,
    The server info still needs to be updated. Are you setting location for each subreport also?
    Possibly this registry key will help, I only have CR 2008 installed so you'll have adjust for what ever you are using:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions - VerifyStoredProceduresOnFirstRefresh = No
    and
    VerifyStoredProceduresOnSetLocation = No
    And
    VerifyWhenDBDriverUpgraded = No
    And
    ViewOutOfPlaceSubreports = No
    Close CR designer before making any changes. And the usual warning about modifying the registry.
    Thank you
    Don
