Business Objects InfoView translation (without language pack)

Hello, everyone,
We need to translate SAP BO InfoView interface. The language we require doesn't have native BO language pack.
We discovered a bunch of .properties files, translated them, but not all of the texts was converted.
Maybe someone could give me some advices, or some ideas for solution?

Thank you for your reply. The report is using an ODBC connection to the Access database that resides on the Business Objects server. It is setup as a System DSN on that box, using the Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb) - as the Access db is v2007.
I can run the report on the server using this ODBC connection, and I'm assuming that when I run the report on demand in InfoView, it is using this connection as well. The problem is only presented when I attempt to schedule the report. The datasource is there as well.

The problem is when i try to open this report on Business Object Infoview because i receive this error message: Unable to find servers in CMS ..:6400 and cluster @...:6400 with kind cacheserver and service BlockingDocumentConnectionRepository. some basic checks:
As already suggested check: Are the server running and enabled in CCM ?
Can you open the CMC ?
Can you open your report in CMC?
Can you open other reports in the CMC ?
Can you open other reprots in Infoview ?

Display & Storage of text in Foreign Languages in BI without Language Pack

Hello Everyone,
We have an SAP BI system (7.0 EHP1 SP4) installed. It retreives data from an SAP ECC 6.0 system.
Both systems have the default Language Packs installed, i.e. English and German.
Currently there is a Rollout implementation in progress. Users are able to enter Text against Master data objects such as Vendor in other languages such as russian. It is possible to save such records and they are visible in Master data tables. Moreover, the Language Field is 'EN' . Thus it appears that ECC is able to store Russian Texts without the assistance of a Language Pack.
When we extract the same data into BI, all instances of Russian characters are replaced by '#'. We see this right from the PSA layer till the Infoprovider. in ECC, we are able to see the texts in russian within the Master datasource using Transaction RSA3,
As far as I know all new SAP installations since 2007 are unicode compliant. Our system certainly falls in this category. I am also aware that Language Packs are needed when we need to have menus to be displayed depending on the logon language of the user. We have no such requirement for BI.
Request your help to identify if there is any additional setting in either ECC or BI which will allow BI to accept and maintain texts in Russian and other languages for which no Language Pack is installed.

But, I have always experienced this problem with Safari, thus my turning to Firefox. Now, both have this affectation.
Are you sure it is Korean you are seeing? Do you know that language? Could you send me a screenshot (tom at bluesky dot org)? Sometimes bad fonts can cause things like this to happen.

Business Objects Infoview 'cms' Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability

I was recently notified that we are vulnerable to cross-site scripting. We are using Crystal Enterprise XI R2. I read that we need fix pack 3.5, however i dont know where to find it within SAP. I thought that Service Pack 3 would help but it doesn't appear available to download. Has anyone else talked this vulnerability?

Hi experts,
i checked the permissions at the PCD and everything should be fine.
But what i found out at the moment is that the Business Objects Application does try to change the Browser height and width...for some reasons i don't know.
Well and the portal does not allow this action at the portal browser / content area.
1) The error messages are window.setIframeHeigth :

Label printing problem from Business Object Infoview

Hi,
I got a problem with printing label (roll) from Zebera Label Printer. The label is designed in CR XI which works properly printing from Crystal Report XI and Zebera printer prints labels (more then one labels) without any trouble.
But the same label (report) does not get printed with all its pages (labels) from the same Zebera Label Printer using BO infoview. It prints only one page (1st label) and stops.
It seems that BO infoview takes all the labels converted in pdf as one page. Where I want that each label should be considered as single page.
Any idea?

Yes the same report is published in the BOE.
From infoview, It prints on the screen eight (8) labels in two column on one A4 size page. While I want to have each label (W=3.9in x H 2.1in) as one page printed. So that, each label can be printed as one page on label printer.
I want to print as pdf format then printing on Label Printer.

I see Fix Pack for the following Server Type -
AIX 32bit
HP-UX on IA64 64bit
HP-UX on PA-RISC 32bit
Linux on IA32 32bit
Solaris on SPARC 32bit
Windows Server on IA32 32bit
Where can I find the fix pack for Windows 64 bit?
Also, is it mandatory to install the previous fix pack or can I directly apply 1.3 on XI 3.1?

Business Object Infoview very slow on my PC

We are using BO XI3.0 on a Windows server with an oracle database on a unix platform.
We have build severall dashboard for data analysis, each one with "interactive metric trend" and multidimensional queries analysis.
We found Infoview very slow to display the performance data and also to run and get the multidimensional queries data. Keep in mind that the DB is not big (less than 100 K of row)
The users are using windows Internet Explorer version 6 for accessing Infoview.
Are there any requirements on the client site such as required RAM or specific version of Java ?
Is there any tool for analysing the infoview performance ?

Can you try increasing you Client Side java virtual memory by setting up following variable.
JAVA_OPTS = -Xmx512m
Also, Check your server performance, It should have enough space on the drive on which BO is installed, also do check memory, you can shutdown unrequired servers, like Dashboard,PM,Desktop INtelligence, Crystal Reports, if you are not going to use it.

Business Objects Customization Using Class file without net bean

Merge modules for Business Objects XI service pack 4

I am in the process of developing a deployment package in Installshield 2009 - Basic MSI Project. I tried adding the merge modules I downloaded earlier from the web page, http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/runtime.asp
Currently I do not see this web page. It would be nice if you could tell me whether do we have a merge module for Crystal Reports XI service pack 4. If we have where from i can download them. Thank you

I had actually installed Business Object XI and applied service pack 4 on it. I checked the version in Help->About. It is 11.0.0.
Also my environment is XP Sp2, Visual studio 2003 and Visual studio 6.0. I understand that R2 release is needed if the environment is Visual Studio 2005.
I would like to give a clear picture of the issue I work through.
After deploying the software in the client machine, I came to know that when client tried to print the embedded crystal report (.dsr file) from CrViewer,
1. Page set-up dialog bog gets displayed.
2. After clicking 'OK' button in the page set-up dialog box, nothing happens. It is suppose to bring print dialog.
I simulated this in my development machine (confirmed that Print dialog is is not getting displayed when 'OK' button is clicked from 'Page setup' dialog)
I researched and found out from some web page that if Business Objects XI is updated to Service pack 4, this issue gets resolved
So i applied service pack 4 in my dev. machine and tested the functionality by clicking 'OK' button. This issue is no more.
Next logical step is to propagate the sp4 changes to the installer. I searched for the merge modules corresponding to Business Objects XI - service pack 4. I could not locate it now.
I searched my backup folder, I located some previously downloaded merge modules downloaded from the web page, http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/runtime.asp
I tried to include these merge modules and received an error message "Internal build error" . My research revealed that inclusion of the merge module, CrystalReports11_RDC_Reportengine.msm (43,306 Kb, 7/4/2007) throws "Internal build error" during compilation of MSI project in Installshield 2009.
Any idea, tips and help to resolve the issue would be appreciated. Thank you.

Language pack resource files in SharePoint 2010 and 2013

Hi,
We are translating the Language pack for SharePoint 2013 in Albanian language.
Comparing to SharePoint 2010 resource files, there are less of them in SharePoint 2013 but they are bigger in size. Are they merged and in that case which of them are merged? Any other info relating to this issue would help

Although the 2010 and 2013 are different versions, most of the files contain the same words. I just thought that maybe someone knows if and if yes, which of the files are joined together in 2013 since there are less files in 2013 but bigger in size. All
this because that Albanian LP doesn't exist and we have to translate another LP.
If someone has had experience in translating Language Packs in SharePoint 2010 or 2013, any information would help me a lot.

Does Business Object need BW?

Hi experts,
Does anyone know if SAP will eventually fully leverage Business Object's Universe and Data cleansing functionalities and get rid of BW down the road? Based on some powerpoint presentation, it seems like Business Object can work without BW. Does anyone have any insight on this?

BOBJ tools can connect to several different data sources types. Your persistent layer can be in Oracle, DB2, MS Sql server , Teradata, Excel, MS Access etc. Some of the tools even allow you to use more generic connectors like OLE DB, web services, JDBC or ODBC.
IN addition to reporting tools BOBJ offers tools to load your persistent layer (ETL).

How to Set / change the attribute of Business Object

Hi all,
Say I have a Z Business Object -> ZBO
Inside the BO, I have an attribute -> ZA1
And one method -> ZM1
Is there any way in which i can set / update the attribute ZA1 (for any particular instance) outside the Business Object (I mean without writing any code in the program of the Business object)?

Yes.
BOR attribuites are a piece of code. You can see this by hilighting an attribute and clicking on the "Program" button. That code returns the attribute value, usually something from a DB table, something calculated, or a private attribute.
To change what the attribute returns, you need to change the underlying data. How you do it depends on what your attribute code does in first place. This is why we can't give you an exact answer. If your attribute retrieves a value from a table entry then you need to change the table entry. If it is a calculated value then you need to change the data used in the calculation to make your attribute return something else. If it returns a private attribute value then you need to update this via a method.

Business Objects XI R2 compatibility in AIX 5.3

Hi,
Our project is migrating to a new server and will require to move the Business Objects InfoView to that server. The current server has AIX 5.2 and has the WebSphere 5.1.7 . The new server has AIX 5.3 and has the Websphere 6.1.2.2..
The problem is that we can't install the Business Objects Web Component Adapter in the new server.
Is this a compatibility issue or are we missing some tools that are required?

We are migrating to a new server.

The new server is an AIX 5.3 server with WebSphere 6.1.2.2 and JDK 1.5.
Do we need to install something on our server prior installing the Web Component Adapter on an AIX 5.3 server? We are installing the WCA of Business Objects in this server which has the WebSphere 6.1.2.2 to use the Business Objects InfoView. Our Business Objects XI R2 services (CMC, PageServer, etc) are already installed on a separate server.

The Quark Framework was designed to allow the creation of layers of semantic models (functional DSL's/combinator libraries) which provide the building blocks for applications to build specific data behaviour.Â Our motivating interest was therefore around how data can be described, transformations composed and target data projected from a general data manipulation 'engine'.Â By having the Quark Platform be very general, and all the data modeling and manipulation driven by dynamically loadable modules with dynamically composable elements, you have a powerful stack that can be extended and customised, and you provide a very rich capability to applications (who can use this 'canvas' as a way to achieve a broad range of bespoke data behaviour).Â Plus, of course, the level of validation in this sort of system is so much higher than a 'normally' implemented bespoke OO stack would be (that's not to say you can't create abstractions that add this... but ultimately you end up with something like the Quark Framework!).
In the Quark Framework we have seeded, the highest-level, most abstract data module you can see is the Sql module (and SqlBuilder etc.).Â However, we have created a large number of even more abstract modules for describing all sorts of data semantics.Â These have been and are being used in commercial products, as well as other prototypes in both the Business Objects Research Group and the wider Labs organisation.
I have recently added a "Sneak Peek" section to the main Quark Framework Labs page. Â This has a few videos of a Labs project that will soon be available for download.Â In this case, this is only a Labs prototype, but if you watch the videos, you will see functionality that manipulates data using the aforementioned Quark Framework modules.Â Take special note of the what the Designer can do, and imagine that, as the user is combining data objects and adding calculations, elements of various 'functional DSLs' are being combined to express objects at a higher level of data abstraction.Â Ultimately, these compositions can be transformed to other data languages, or to functional systems that manipulate data values directly.
BTW, we do not use the Quark Framework in parts of applications where regular OO seems 'more appropriate' (UI, comms, application state logic, persistence, etc.) - i.e. most of the volume.Â We are specifically interested in this technology where we want more formal, declaratively described behaviour and the robustness of strictly-typed composition.Â To us, this pertains best to data and metadata description and transformation.
