Business Objects License keys
Hello gurus,
I have installed Business Objects product suite using temperory Keys, Now i want to validate them. I asked basis person to request keys. he came up with three sets of keys. I applied them in CMC . But none of the keys are working for Xcelsius and Crystal reports.
How can i know what products are getting validated by applying these keys, and from where i get client tools keys.
Products installed
BO product suite - server a
SAP integartion Kit - server A
LCM- server A
Live office - server A
Data federator - Server B
Data services - server B
can some guide me how to get these keys.
Thanks
Prashanth

Business Object License Policy
Hi Gurus,
I would appreciate if you could provide understanding about license policy for following Business Object products.
Business Objects Edge
Business Objects Enterprise
do we need to buy license per user base or per cpu base or both? Is there any unlimited user type license available?
Does Xcelsius has different user/cpu license policy?
How does SAP monitor license use of Business objects compare to SAP Products?
Thanks,
Digesh JoshiI'm not sure about SAP but on the BO side you purchase a license key. There are4 3 key types that I am aware of.
1) CPU license which offers unlimited users
2) named user license where you can have unlimited concurrent users but only a fixed amount of username in the system
3) Concurrent access license where you can unlimited users but only a fixed amount can login to the server at a given time.
BOE supports primarily 1 and 2, Edge and Crystal reports server support primarily 2 and 3
Clients have a seperate license key for each client (xcelsius CR, etc). You should speak to your account rep as I have heard that the rules differ depending on region (different licensing packages, etc)

Business Objects Licensing issue.
Hi All,
I am planning to develop a custom web application using BOE 3.1 java SDK's.
I would like to create only application level users, these users would be mapped with a single BO user account to create enterprise session.
That means, My application "A" will have say 10 users (i.e. 10 userid and passwords). All these users will their different sets of userid's and passwords (custom application users), they can login into the application using application level credentials, however to login into the enterprise the application will internally use only one BO user credential (i.e. only one named user acount info.)
eg:user1-login -> application>logins using BO userX userid and password>BO Enterprise session created
user2-login -> application>logins using BO userX userid and password>BO Enterprise session created
user3-login -> application>logins using BO userX userid and password>BO Enterprise session created
and so on.
The idea is to purchase only one named user licence and create many application level users to login into BOE; but using the same BO user account.
Is this approach legal in-terms of licensing?
Would appreciate any help on this.
Regards,
JonHello Jon,
Thank you very much.
Please see the following post:
Business Objects Enterprise 3.1 Licensing
Tim says:
names means you can have five users created, any amount logged on concurently (i.e the administrator could have 10 sessions, usera 20 etc no limit) But you can only create 5 different users names
that means 1 Named user eg: 'A' can login into the enterprise using his credentials and create any amount of enterprise sessions concurrently for self right??
Each named user is for a specific user and not to be shared. If you were using concurrent user licensing, than this would be ok to use one enterprise user account.
5 Concurrent linceses means one user account created in enterprise but, account info can be shared with 5 users, so they can login using same credentials and create five different enterprise sessions?? right?
so, I can purchase one- 5 concurrent user license and share it with 5 users? OR purchase 5 named user licences and share it with 5 users?
Either ways my understanding is number of users=number or linceses available (named or concurrent). please correct me if I am wrong.
Now, which one is cost effective named user lincenses or concurrent?

Hi all,
I have a business object whose key field and attirbutes are mapped to a database table.
Now when I instantiate the object with the key field and the key field is a wrong entry then I want my object to throw ane error saying the "Key Field entry is invlaid or no datas exist for the following Key Field entry".
How shall i go for it.
DevHello
Have a look at the business object USER. It contains a "method" USER.ExistenceCheck that is realized by BAPI_USER_EXISTENCE_CHECK.
Take this as an example of how you should go on with your business object.
Please note that business objects and their methods have <b>nothing </b>to to with object-orientated programming.

New SAP Business One license keys issued by SAP after January 31, 2010 may not work with SAP Business One license servers installed with older versions of SAP Business One.
SAP Business One 2007 A SP01 and higher, as well as SAP Business One 2004 are not affected by this issue.
The issue has been fixed in the following patch levels, which means that you will be affected if your SAP Business One system is running a lower version:
u2022 SAP Business One 2005 A SP01 PL54
u2022 SAP Business One 2005 B SP00 PL47
u2022 SAP Business One 2007 A SP00 PL47
u2022 SAP Business One 2007 B SP00 PL10
In order to avoid a system downtime due to this licence server issue, you need to install a license server fix. Check out SAP Note 1379033 for more information on how to install the license server fix.
Kind regards

Please can you give us some guidance regarding what/if licences are required for Business Object reports.
We currently have 10 deski BO licences. We are looking to write many reports as part of the installation of a new Adult Care Management system , to reduce the number of reports required we will want to allow parameters to be entered to a report.
To execute a Business Objects report that requires a parameter to be entered do we need to procure licences for all potential users ? or can they be developed under the 10 deski licences and run by anyone else without the need for a licence.
We hope to make the reports available to all our users (approx 1200), so an idea of whether we require a licence for each user and the cost of any licences would be helpful.Hi Mike
Did you ever get further with this? I'm doing a similar exercise here at Surrey County Council - maybe we should speak!? I'm not clear how a user can interact (slice/dice/filter/sort) with a Desktop Intelligence report. I believe they too will need a DeskI licence but without the rights to write reports. A basic Business Objects license will give them access to use InfoView, but that gives little interaction beyond user prompts, print, export.
Interactive Viewer gives more interaction for the user, but only works on reports written in Web Intelligence.
I wonder if this is any help?!
Also - ask your supplier about the new 'SAP Business Objects Information and Analysis Package". This seems to allow users with an SAP license (e.g. for accessing the portal) to have a level of Business Objects access.

Hi All
I am new to work flow ..can any one explain me what is mean by business object??
ThanksLook into the below Link

Business object is like a Application system with all the functionality.
For each SAP Functionality like Sales Order, Purchase Orders, Requisition, Delivery. Everything has it's Own Business Object with Key Fields, Attributes, Methods, Events.
Eg: Sales Order (BUS2032) Txn : SWO1
Key Fields : Sales Order Number --> Will be the Unique & non empty field
Attirbutes: All other Sales Data --> Similar to VBAK & VBAP data for processing within the business object
Methods: SalesOrder- Change
SalesOrder- Create --> Some are API functions linked directly to BAPI, which are for performing an operation, this will have Programming behind it.
Events: SalesOrder- Create --> Will get triggered when an Sales Order created and some need to be configured to be triggered -
Does OracleAS 10g support business objects
How can I integrate Business Objects(BO) with OracleAS 10g Portal is there some built in portlet or plug in for this... and where can I find documentation for this...
Do you actually need to have a business objects license for each user to be able to run something through the Portal that was created in BO?Not yet but look for new supported platforms docs when SP3 is released (Mayish). I still think windows 7 will work fine IMO but if you are looking for official testing/support then SP3 should have it.

Business Objects Temporary License Keys no longer support OpenSQL
Hello All
Using a Temporary License Key I have been working on a demonstration for a potential customer showing how CR2008 can link to SAP. This has worked perfectly until today when I had to utilize a new Business Objects Temporary License Key. Now when trying to do a refresh I receive the following error message:
Database Connection Error: The license key does not include support of the OpenSQL driver.
Can anyone advise why this is changed and what I can do to be able to demonstrate CR2008 to SAP connection?
Thanks for your input

Business Objects XIR3.1 and BI4.1 Licensing structure
Hello,
We have a number of named (BOEP) Business Objects Ebterprise professional licenses for XIR3.1.
Q1. I am assuming that any named user on the BOEP, should be able to use any of the Server / Desk top products.
I have been advised by my acct manager that we need a separate licence / cost for using Webi Rich Client tool (available on the desktop ?
Is this correct ?
Is there a list of document to tell me what is Desktop tools (Deski, Webi , Designer0 and Server tools (Infoview, Webi) etc ate are covered by BOEP license ?
We are planning to migrate to BI4.1
Hence, What tools are covered for a BOEP named user license. In particular we want to continue using Deski in compatible mode .
Any documents, help or enlightenment on this will be of great assistance.
Yes, I can go to my SAP BO acct manager - but due to mixed messages I want to get this sorted
Thanks in Advance
SanjayHi Sanjay,
Please check the SAP support site for more details.
http://service.sap.com --> go to "Key and Requests" tab
If this is not enough, please raise a message/incident to get support from SAP on this. They can provide a clear understanding about your license keys.
Components to be selected while creating a support incident/message as below:
Facing issues with the license key request or creation?
Create a message using the component
XX-SER-LIKEY for SAP Business Suite
XX-SER-LIKEY-BOJ for SAP BusinessObjects
XX-SER-LIKEY-SYB for SAP Sybase
Hope this helps!!
Thanks,

Business Objects Enterprise Licensing for Crystal Reports
I am new to Business Objects & Crystal Reports. I have recently been given the repsonsibility of supporting our BO XI R2 environment. This system is not in production yet, but initial use has shown an inability to create a crystal report.
If I select Crystal Reports Explorer in Business Objects Enterprise Applications, I get the following error:
"You do not have the correct keycode installed to use this option. Please contact your support office for further details."
I informed my boss who provided me with a "Crystal Reports Explorer Windows XI R2 License CPU English" keycode.
I entered this keycode in the License keys correctly. The license reflects "BusinessObjects Crystal Reports Explorer" but does not show any licenses - just dashes for named users, concurrent users, processors, expires...
I still get the same error when accessing the Crystal Reports Explorer.
Am I missing something here? Is there more that I need to do, or is there a problem with the keycode? Please post this query to the Business Objects Enterprise Administration forum:
BI Platform
That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there. Also, all BOE queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
Thank you for your understanding,

Transaction KB16N business-object type and key for GOS
When attachments (notes, PC documents etc) are made to a manual cost allocation in transaction KB16N using GOS (generic object services):
what is the business-object type?
how is the business-object key constructed?
I suspect that the business-object type is BUS6036.
I suspect that the business-object key is the concatenation of the controlling area and the document number (using internal values).
Is that correct?
The reason for my question is that I have a program to display attached notes (and allow drill-down to attached PC documents) that works for various business objects (billing documents, purchasing documents and some FI documents), but I cannot get it to work for manual cost allocations.
JohnHi Michele
The transaction you are looking for should be SWO1
Then put the ex "BUS2000116" into the Object/Interface type and ...
Guess it will help you

hi iam MS student and doing project on Business objects.Iam installing Business objects 5.1.9 but it asking licence product keys and data access keys. can any one help me in this issue
Hi Bhasker,
This is not the place to ask licence keys..for BO products. If you are working for a company then ask your administrator OR try to install trail versions of BO products.
I just want to know why you are installing such a old version of BO. Is there any reason ?
