Dear All,
I have three data providers in Webi as per mentioned below
Query1- emp no,emp name,city
Query2- emp no,dept no,dept name
Query3- dept no,loc
As per user requirement I need to show the data in webi report mentioned below
empno emp name deptno dept name loc
Please advice and do the needful to achieve the above requirement. Please approve the mentioned content its very important.

Merge modules for Business Objects XI service pack 4

I am in the process of developing a deployment package in Installshield 2009 - Basic MSI Project. I tried adding the merge modules I downloaded earlier from the web page, http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/runtime.asp
Currently I do not see this web page. It would be nice if you could tell me whether do we have a merge module for Crystal Reports XI service pack 4. If we have where from i can download them. Thank you

Thanks a lot for the immediate response. However, I am not using the crystal reports Version, R2 release.
I had actually installed Business Object XI and applied service pack 4 on it. I checked the version in Help->About. It is 11.0.0.
Also my environment is XP Sp2, Visual studio 2003 and Visual studio 6.0. I understand that R2 release is needed if the environment is Visual Studio 2005.
I would like to give a clear picture of the issue I work through.
After deploying the software in the client machine, I came to know that when client tried to print the embedded crystal report (.dsr file) from CrViewer,
1. Page set-up dialog bog gets displayed.
2. After clicking 'OK' button in the page set-up dialog box, nothing happens. It is suppose to bring print dialog.
I simulated this in my development machine (confirmed that Print dialog is is not getting displayed when 'OK' button is clicked from 'Page setup' dialog)
I researched and found out from some web page that if Business Objects XI is updated to Service pack 4, this issue gets resolved
So i applied service pack 4 in my dev. machine and tested the functionality by clicking 'OK' button. This issue is no more.
Next logical step is to propagate the sp4 changes to the installer. I searched for the merge modules corresponding to Business Objects XI - service pack 4. I could not locate it now.
I searched my backup folder, I located some previously downloaded merge modules downloaded from the web page, http://support.businessobjects.com/downloads/runtime.asp
I tried to include these merge modules and received an error message "Internal build error" . My research revealed that inclusion of the merge module, CrystalReports11_RDC_Reportengine.msm (43,306 Kb, 7/4/2007) throws "Internal build error" during compilation of MSI project in Installshield 2009.
Any idea, tips and help to resolve the issue would be appreciated. Thank you.

Not able to merge dimensions objects on webi report based on SAP query

We are using SAP BI 7.0 , BO XI 3.1 sp1
I have two queries in webi report. These two queries are based on the same universe. I am not able to merge dimensions from both queries as merge dimensions functionality is greyed. Two dimensions are of the same type (char) and are dimensions (not the details).
Does anyone know the reason?

First check your user ID has rights for merge dimension.may be you can try on other universe and see if it is still grayed out then possible rights issue.

Implement conforming dimensions with business objects

Hey guys,
I have 2 fact tables joined to 3 conforming dimensions, how can I build the universe to aggregate the fields in facts in one query?
Someone told me to create merged dimensions at report level, but our clients don't want us to do like that.
Appreciate if you guys could provide solutions.

Hi,
one of the most important criteria would be the source system... If the data will come from R/3 or ECC going with SAP BI will definitvely make sense; otherwise they're plenty of comparison in the internet...
Running R/3 as ERP and choosing another BI solution could quickly become a nightmare in terms of data extraction...

Merge Dimension & Scope of Analysis buttons inactive

Hi experts,
We are currently on Business Objects XI 3.0. I am trying to merge common dimensions from 2 Universes, or to perform Drill-down on hierarchies. However, I don't know why the buttons <Merge Dimensions> and <Show/Hide Scope of Analysis Pane> are inactive, ie. grey in colour.
Is there something I need to set before I can use these 2 functions?
I've already ticked 'Auto-merge dimensions' (under Document Properties), but this flag is always unticked when I create a new document.
I've also set 'Start drill on existing report' (under Tools > Options).
Would appreciate any suggestion on getting these 2 functions working. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried Unchecking the option u201CUse Query Drillu201D (Document Properties) i.e. 3rd option under Document Options in WEBI?
I am not comfortable with SAP BW OLAP Universes because I never worked on it.
If you canu2019t combine the queries or u201CAdd a combined Queryu201D button is disabled then follow the steps:
1. Import the universe on which you are building the report.
2. Goto Universe Parameters-> SQL tab-> Check the option u201Callow the use of Union, Intersect and minus operatorsu201D
3. Save and Export the Universe
4. You can combine the Queries now.

Merged dimensions

I have made a report that is using 2 querys designed this way:
query 1: object 1, indicator1
query 2: object 1, object 2 -->object 7,indicator1
in my repot the object 1 is the object that is merged.
I ve made an object X in the report that uses some objects from query 2.
I ve also made an object Y that uses object X, object and indicator 1 from query 1 but when I design my table , I ve a serious problem.
I have a #datasynch error in all cells .
I ve tried to make a new Dimensions of type information for all the dimesions that are in query 2 but not in query one to resolve this issue.
this idea gives me a better result but not the best: i have many multi values . this returns to that the dimension that is commun to both of he querys is a dimension that have been defined in the universe that Im using and that this dimension is a Grouping of an other company.

you can not include indicator1 with any other none merged dimension
simple answer, wats the relation in your business between the indicator1 and object2, there is no relation, so that indicator1, can only be used when you put merged dimension with all objects , or with objects which exist in both queries,
but once there is an extra objects exist in query2 and not exist in query1, you can not add measures from query1 to the reprot, it will gives you #[DATASYNCH] or something like that.

Replacing Business Objects - Modelling Issue

I'm working on a large 'BI' project that is replacing Business Objects with OBIEE ( actually its not really a BI project its more of a give us what we've got now using OBIEE project ) - which is proving challenging in some areas.
One example is with the Data Model that BO provides in its Universe, the model I'm replacing is pretty much 3NF (even though it uses DIM and FACT in the table names) they're joined pretty much all over the place, which enables the users to select from tables which can be 4,5,6 steps away from the original - including via M:M relationships!
Anyway one specific issue is based around the old question of multiple fact tables where not all dimensions are conformed.
Dim - Business Manager ---< Fact - Forecast >----- Dim - Product -----< Fact - Actuals >------ Dim Salesman
I've setup the Dimensions for each Dimension Logical Table.
I've created a single logical table containing a Forecast and Actual Amount from the 2 fact tables and set the logical levels appropriately at Table Level. For the Forecast measure I have a logical level set to 'Total - Salesman' and for the Actuals measure I have logical level set to 'Total - Business Manager'.
This works great when I select an Attribute from Business Manager, and Salesman and both of the measures in the Answer.
However the users want to be able to select from Business Manager, and Salesman dimensions without selecting the measures, is this possible - do I need to add a bridging table to resolve the relationships between a Business Manager and Salesman explicitly rather than implicitly via the facts?
I have set Implict Fact at the Presentation Model, however this doesn't work (it misses off Total Level aggregation in the OBI Server SQL).

This is my first foray into the world of BO and I think some of the points you make in the link are right on the money. I've spent many years working with Oracle Tools (Dataquery,Data Browser, Discoverer and then OBIEE when Oracle acquired the tool ). There are difficulties in the modeling with OBIEE, certainly when it comes to trying to replicate a 'fairly' complex BO universe they become apparent.
Many hoops to jump through to give the user a like for like, which I'm not convinced will be possible - maybe some negotiation is required :-)

#Multivalue error with merged dimension

Hello Experts,
I have a report which has two queries 1 and 2. Query 1 has Year,Month,DB,UserID and NOQ(measure) obejcts. Query 2 has User ID and Username Objects.
The requirement is to display Username along with UserID and other objects in Query 1.
I have merged UserID from both queries and the merged object is named as "LANID" and non merged dimensions are created as Detail Objects for year month and DB with associated dimension as LANID.
If I drag year-detail,month-detail,DB-detail,UserID (from LANID) and Username,I get #MULTIVALUE error in month column for User IDs which have multiple records for the same year,different months and same DB.
I came across a similar thread,http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?p=856502 where Dave Rathbun mentions that merged dimensions work only where there is unique record or same level of granularity between two dataproviders which is not the case here.
Request you to share any workarounds (asap) to achieve this.

Is there some sort of aggregation occurring that's causing multiple values for one row?
Check the table settings and select "avoid duplicate row aggregation" and see if that helps.
Also, with merged dimensions when you're missing individual query objects with merged objects, dimensional context becomes unknown or the wrong context is assumed, so you may be able to clear up the error by adding in a dimensional context (such as [Month-Detail] In ([User ID]).

Bex to Business Objects - Currency Conversion error in Webi

Hello,
I am attempting to transfer a Bex 7 key figure currency conversion to a Business Objects filter in a Universe for display in a Webi report. The version of Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2. The Bex Conversion Type is based off Calendar Month, and the Target Currency variable is a selection prompt. The filter is passed to the universe and prompts when the report is ran in Webi, but an error occurs if the currency is populated. For instance, if I populate the filter in Webi with 'USD', the following error occurs: The MDS query SELECT "....." failed to execute with the error Value 'USD' FOR variable "Currency" is invalid (WIS 10901).
I'm not sure if the currency conversion information is being properly transferred and translated to Business Objects. Does anyone have any insight on this issue?

I was able to modify the dimension for the filter to retrieve the correct object (Ex. USD), but there are multiple incorrect selections for USD and other currency types. For instance, when I type in USD i get 5 different options, and the one with the description 'American Dollar' is the correct one. Why is Webi displaying all these different options? When I display the options for currency in Bex only one 'USD' is shown in the list. Here is my filter condition for currency type in the Universe:

Service Interface for the Business Objects

Hello everyone. I'm developing a Web Service using the service interface that provide JDeveloper for their Business Objects. I have a relationship between two EO as described below:
EntityA 1 ...... * EntityB and it is a composition relation.
Each ID in the entities are sequencial. There is no problem for create EntityA and EntityB at the same time. My probelm is that if I want to create only EntityB. I can't use the default method provided by the AppModule, neither make a custom method like:
public boolean createEntityB(EntityBRowImpl mayEntityB){
//Sample code.
}because always a new row is created, and as EntiyB is a child of EntiyA, require the father's id and of curse an error ocurr. Also, can't let someone write the ID in the foreing key of the EntiyB.
How can I solve this please?

The error you're hitting is presumably JBO-25030.
Look to the "merge" command. In the parent you specify just the key of the preexisting parent record, and then in the child you specify your new child record.

I know that "MillerCoors" was using SAP MDM & BO DQ
The comparison between SAP MDM & BO DQ capabilities are listed below. Putting it straight.
1) Both have data quality capabilities. Validations for SAP MDM & Transforms for BO DQ. But the capabilities of BO DQ are much stronger than SAP MDM
2) Both have de-duplication functionalities. While SAP MDM does not provide fuzzy matching capabilities, you more effectively find duplicates using BO DQ. But, merging of records, selecting individual fields for merged record is not possible in BO DQ. SAP MDM has an upper hand here.
3) Data enrichment is not possible in SAP MDM. BO DQ has built in dictionaries for Address check, zip codes etc.
Both tools have capabilities to connect to third party service like D&B. SAP MDM via the Enrichment Controller & DQ via web services.
4) Data Management workflow capabilities of integrating users, data stewards in the data quality process is better in SAP MDM.
Based on these points, if one is going for a BO DQ + SAP MDM approach, to get the best results we can design all the data quality validations, transformations, de-duplication, enrichment in BO DQ & the master data management activities like data governance, business process etc in SAP MDM.

Crystal Reports to Business Objects

Hi Gurus,
Please help me out with your valuable suggestions. Here is my scenario,
Very recently my client implemented Business Objects for their Corporate reporting in place of Crystal Enterprise.
There are about 400+ reports that to be converted in Business Objects. In the phase 1 we planned to convert the High priory reports of about 80 + reports.
Our game plan is to convert CR to Universes and then after using Universes >>>webi reports. Please suggest me whether we are going in the right path.
After analyzing the reports I found like we are using about 65-80 tables over all. Please suggest me, Can I create a single Universe and point the 70 reports to that single Universe or do I need to create a single universe for single crystal report.
Moreover, we are upgrading my back end too. But in future some of the tables, fields may exist or not. As the Back-end is also in the initial phases. So please suggest how to convert the CR to Universe with back-end modification.
As having discussion with client. User have no experience in creating any sort of reporting, All they need is exact the same report in Business Objects.
Please post me your valuable suggestion.

Here a are few tips:
- How many different data sources are used?
A Business Objects universe can only point at one data source (there are some workarounds for this). Therefore it's quite important to know how many different data sources are involved.
- Complexity of reports
When developing complex reports in webi you'll find that you can't always meet the requirements by using standard webi functionality.
In that case you will have to move some of the more complex calculations to the universe. Therefore it's not uncommon for a very complex report to have one universe but in most case a universe will serve multiple webi reports.
- Ad-hoc reporting.
From reading your post I donu2019t think this is very relevant to you but I mention it anyway.
If users want to use the universe for ad-hoc reporting, always make sure that you give proper business descriptions to the dimension and measure objects.
Also, it's important that you don't try to stuff everything into one universe as this will confuse the business users. Try to divide the universes into the logical business areas i.e. finance, HR, Purchasing etc.
- Training / Involve the Business
Have you considered training a few web intelligence super users that can help converting some webi reports?
If you involve the Business users at an early stage of the project, the reaction to the change of reporting system will be a lot more positive.
- Make the reports more intuitive
Instead of simply re-developing all the reports in exactly the same way as they were developed in Crystal look for ways to enhance the usability.
Business Objects has many great features that could help with this i.e. input controls, data tracking, profiles, dynamic recipients etc).
Also, you will find a lot of duplication i.e. multiple version of the same report with different prompts. You should possibly try to consolidate those reports.

Report level filter impact on non-merged dimension

Hi Experts,
I have a problem in Webi 3.1 sp4.
We have three dataproviders from same universe. two dataproviders are linked with merged dimensions and third one is from independent table which has only one value (not related to other two data providers).
Created report with one block(block1) contained objects from first two dataproviders. Object from third dataprovider is placed on report body above block1.
Everything working fine.
If we create a report level filter with detail objects from first two dataproviders, value from third dataprovider disappears.
I don't have problem if create filter at block level.
Please help to resolve this issue.

That is a previous XI version. I meant within XI 3.1 - between Support Packages, is it a change from SP03 for example?
If it is (b/ween SP03 - Sp04 ) then you should log a support message
