Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2 with BW Netweaver 7.01 EHP1 SP05

Is anyone else out there running this combination of sap products? Are you successful?
We are seeing a lot of inconsistencies with webi reports. We have reports returned with no data. We have some reports that run in one instance with data and the following time they run they have no data. We have fields that seem to be "flipping" values. Getting short dumps in BW. Problems with hierarchies. Inconsistent runs times, etc.

We have been actively working with support on the performance issues and they have been a great group to work with. We are finding delays in the flattening procees on the bw side as well as no data returned to webi due to the amount of information pulled from bw. We are currently getting our critical reports out on a daily basis and will pursue the rest of the issues, we encounter, with sap support. I wanted to put this post out there so I could see if there was anyone else running into these issues so I could find out how they handled them and find the right mix of service packs and oss notes implemented.

  • Business Objects Enterprise 3.1 SP2 costs??

    Hi ,
I would like to konw the cost of Business Objects Enterprise 3.1 sp2. I want only named user licenses(1 or 2 or 5 licenses only).
Where can I get the list of products SAP offers and their costs?
    Regards,
    jon

Since you only need a limited number of user licenses I would recommend to take a look at BO Edge 3.1 (SP2 is available also fro BO Edge).
Only SAP sales can provide you with pricing information. I would recommend to contact your local SAP sales office.

  • Free Trial SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 incl. SAP Business Objects BI 4.1 SP2 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7

    I have 2 questions:
Relating to accepting Terms and Conditions:
If I click <Try Now> for solution SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 incl. SAP Business Objects BI 4.1 SP2 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7
and scroll down Terms and Conditions, the button <I Accept> remains disabled.
Other solutions like SAP HANA, developer edition 1.0 Rev 80 I can accept.
I have to mention, that so far I have no CAL account
Is it possible to choose another Amazon Instance Type - instead of the default one (r3.8xlarge with 244 GB RAM)?
I don't need 244 GB RAM on my BW on HANA server.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Harald,
ad 1) I assume that this is caused by a browser bug. Which browser (IE8, FF31, Lynx, ...) are you using on which operating system (Windows 7, SUSE Linux, ...)? Have you tried another browser to narrow down the possible root causes?
ad 2) The 244Gb instance is not only hosting HANA but also the ABAP/BW portion. In order to have all the demo scenarios of the BW on HANA Trial working it is required that the HANA server has 244GB of memory available. With less than 244Gb the demo scenarios wouldn't work and then there would be users complaining ;-)

  • Problem Installing Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2 on AIX 5.3

    Hi,
We installed Business Objects XI 3.1 first on AIX 5.3  and everything worked fine.
Once we apply BO XI 3.1 SP2 patch (by running the install.sh script from the
BO XI 3.1 SP2 install bits) onto the Business Objects XI 3.1instance, the following error
    [error] Errcode 1: gzip -dc "/apps/truecomp/boXI31-temp/xi31_sp2/pkg/jdk00000.tar.gz" | /bin/tar xvfb - 1
during the installation ( when we checked, the package "jdk00000.tar.gz" contained mostly some libraries
that are already existing under the installed java/bin directory, the error is likely due to tar command can't
overwrite the existing files there), and it seems that the library files in "jdk00000.tar.gz" package are same as
the existing files under java/bin directory. So this error may not matter (just our guess).
The real problem for us after installing BO XI 3.1 SP2 is that, the tomcat log (file name "catalina.out")  throws
the following exception and tomcat can't start up, so we can't log onto CMC anymore.  Anyone know if this is
a known issue or any solution or  workaround?  The frustrating thing is that, SP2 can't be uninstalled (
it likely thinks SP2 was not installed successfully), and this whole BO XI 3.1 instance is not usable anymore,
we have to remove the whole thing altogether (no way to remove just SP2 part).

  • Business Object XI 3.1 Integration with Siebel CRM 8.1.1.1

    Hi Experts,
We are planning to Integrate Business Objects XI 3.1 with Siebel CRM 8.1.1.1.
Our requirement would be creating BO Universes on top of Siebel CRM Business Layer (Business Components) and expose these Universe for Ad-hoc reporting using Web Intelligence at InfoView portal. In addition we would like to leverage Siebel CRM Authentication and authorizations (positions) as well with Integration Kit.
Found some of docs on BO with Siebel integration using crystal designer. But not on creation of Universe and then WebI Reports.
And also found that Siebel Web Desktop for Ad-hoc reporting within Siebel portal. Not sure how it is similar to BO Web Intelligence reporting.
Can any one please guide us the different possible options to achieve this requirement.

    Hi Paul,
I've left SAP on March 31th, 2011, so my information may not be 100% accurate.
As far as I know, in Business Objects Suite XI4.0, there will no longer be Siebel Integration kit.
Instead, Siebel related integration features are moved back into core products such as Crystal Reports and BOE.
This means, you no longer need to have an installer for Siebel integration kit, when you installed Crystal Reports, it will bring you to Siebel connectivity after you install Crystal Reports. So does BOE.
The similar approach applies to other integration kits as well such as SAP, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Oracle EBS.
In Crystal Reports and BOE XI4.0, the Siebel integration feature remains with some improvements (check the product document for detail when you get XI4.0 BOBJ suite.)
For Webi/Universe accessing Siebel request, I have no further update since then.
You may want to go through your sales representitive/support channel to raise enhancement request/new feature request officially and get feedback.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards

  • What SAP Business Objects Web Services to use with XI3.0

I'm new to BO and is tasked to install it.
What I've installed already is the BOE XI3.0 version and now want to install Xcelsius 2008 Enterprise.
What I can not figure out from the Xcelsius manual or SDN or OSS is what the Business Objects Web Services are the manual instructs you to install with Xcelsius.
    I did find something called
BusinessObjects Web Services XI for Windows and downloaded it but is not sure if this is what I need to install as the business Object Web Services on XI 3.0
Can someone please direct me in the correct direction
    Thanks in advance
    Liezel

    Hi,
i am not sure if i understand your question. If you mean Query as a Webservice (QaaWS), this component should be part of your XI 3.0 Enterprise installation. You could also use the flynet (www.flynet.co.uk) which is part of Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP1.

  • Repository Manager Business Objects

We create a new Repository Manager (Business Objects Repository) on the SAP Portal, following the procedure of SAP Documentation (particularly "Integrating SAP Business Objects XI 3.1 Tools with SAP Netweaver of Ingo Hilgefort among other documentation) named "boerm".
When the users access to this KM Folder, "My Favorites" folder is outdated, and after several hours the new Favorite Link appears.
The only way to refresh the folder content is selecting Folder -> Refresh, but that function doesn't exists in several LayoutSet of KM.
How can we refresh the folder automatically?

  • WebElements 2.46 with business Objects XI3.1 SP4?

    Hi Guys,
We recently upgraded our Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2 FP2.8 to Business Objects XI 3.1 SP4. When we try to view WebElements Report via CR2008 or via Infoview it basically shows just the HTML code behind that report. We followed the WebElements 2.46 guide to configure the BusinessObjects Enterprise server to allow pass-through HTML but it's still the same.
Just wondering if anyone out there is running WebElements on  Business Objects XI 3.1 SP4? Or if anyone has a similar issue?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Adnan

    hi Adrian,
there were some issues with webelements in the latest service pack of xi 3. this was due to changes in the xi 3 dhtml viewer.
if you've got a test bed with the latest version up still, please try the latest version of webelements [here|Crystal Reports webElements]. that version is .247 and has been tested on xi 3 (latest service pack) and bi 4.0.
the 246 version will not work on bi 4.0. we have no customer feedback for webelements on bi 4.0 as this will be the first release for 4.0. there were recent changes in a fix pack of bi 4.0 which delayed the release of webelements by quite a bit...sorry for that.
there are also a couple of new functions in 247 too.
    i hope this helps,
    jamie

  • Business Objects sessions bleeding together with OpenDoc reports

I have a custom application that logs a user into Business Objects, and calls OpenDoc using the generated loginToken. I store the Business Objects session in the application session. If you log into the application as one user and open a report with the following query:
    <br><br>
    SELECT
      mtf.id
    FROM
      mtf,
      facilities,
      users
    WHERE
      facilities.id = mtf.id
      AND facilities.id = users.facility_id
      AND users.login_name = @Variable('BOUSER')
    <br><br>
The query runs correctly and returns the correct result. If you log out of the application without closing the browser window, log in as a different user and run the same report you get the result the first user got, as if the @Variable('BOUSER') was returning the first username.
    <br><br>
Each user is logged into Business Objects with their own username, I have verified this in the code. I aslo verified that When the first user logs out of the application the Business Objects session is destroyed, and a new one created for the second user. Looking at the HTTP headers I have seen that when the first user logs in and opens a report the following cookie gets set:
    <br><br>
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Set-Cookie:
    InfoViewses=3%261%2C8P%264E%3D1704Jk1XlRb8I5GtMTG1%2C8P%26Tn%3D%7B3%26.1%3D%7B3%262%3D1608%2C03%26O%3DFavoritesFolder%2C0P%7D%2C2z%26.2%3D%7B3%262%3

    <br><br>
The second user who logs in already has this set with the same value, including the testuser1 string which is the username of the first user. This is the only place I can see the username getting passed around.
    <br><br>
This is how I log users in to Business Objects and get the logon Token:
    <br><br>
    IEnterpriseSession session = CrystalEnterprise.getSessionMgr().logon(username, defaultPassword, cmsHostName + ":" + cmsPort, authType);
    String logonToken = session.getLogonTokenMgr().getDefaultToken();
    <br><br>
This is how I launch the reports:
    <br><br>
    String url = serverUrl + "/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sIDType=CUID&sType=wid&sRefesh=Y&iDocID=" + reportCuid + "&token=" + logonToken;
    <br><br>
This problem does not occur with logging in and out of infoview. I am using Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2

When you log into InfoView, it creates a string representing the serialization of the Enterprise Session, and passes it to the client web browser as a cookie.
When you log out of InfoView, then it deletes the cookie.
The cookie is used for session persistence, such that the Enterprise Session will carry over to the different web apps that comprise the InfoView portal.
The difference with invoking OpenDocument is that there's no mechanism for logging off the session within OpenDocument, and OpenDocument uses the same cookie (since OpenDocument is invoked from InfoView, it needs to know the Enterprise Session under with the requester is logged onto InfoView).
So one possible workaround is to not pass the DefaultToken - it's used for failover - but rather the WCA token (createWCAToken).
The WCA token is valid only for the lifetime duration of the EnterpriseSession that generated it.   Since you're keeping around the Enterprise Session yourself, and you do log it off, the serialized session in the cookie should be invalidated on the subsequent call.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Problem connecting SAP IS-U (ECC 6.0) with Business Objects Edge 3.1

    Dear all,
I'm trying to connect to a SAP ECC 6.0 System (SAP IS-U) with Business Objects 3.1 (for example with Crystal Reports). I have installed the SAP RFC SDK on the ECC server and have imported these transport files:
    Open SQL reporting objects
    InfoSet reporting objects
    Row Level Security Tool
    Security functions
    Cluster Definition Editor
But CR keeps returning this error "You do not have the necessary rights to design reports against the SAP System". I've read a few threads about that problem here. I couldn't find a specific "ABAP transport" - did I miss to import anything else?
Is there any way to check whether the transport files work as they are supposed to? Like the MDX parser connection test for SAP Business Warehouse.
    Any other suggestions?
    thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I read about these authorization tasks in some other thread, but didn't know what to do.
But now I found the auth. object in the transaction SU21.
Since I cannot edit SAP_ALL I created another profile in transaction PFCG (just in case someone else is still messing with that problem) and added all activities of ZSEGREPORT ans S_RFC.
After that I added the profile to the users in question.
Now everything works like a charm.
    Thanks alot!

  • Bex to Business Objects - Currency Conversion error in Webi

    Hello,
I am attempting to transfer a Bex 7 key figure currency conversion to a Business Objects filter in a Universe for display in a Webi report.  The version of Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2.  The Bex Conversion Type is based off Calendar Month, and the Target Currency variable is a selection prompt. The filter is passed to the universe and prompts when the report is ran in Webi, but an error occurs if the currency is populated.  For instance, if I populate the filter in Webi with 'USD', the following error occurs:  The MDS query SELECT "....." failed to execute with the error Value 'USD' FOR variable "Currency" is invalid (WIS 10901).
I'm not sure if the currency conversion information is being properly transferred and translated to Business Objects.  Does anyone have any insight on this issue?
    Thank you,
    Brock

I was able to modify the dimension for the filter to retrieve the correct object (Ex. USD), but there are multiple incorrect selections for USD and other currency types.  For instance, when I type in USD i get 5 different options, and the one with the description 'American Dollar' is the correct one.  Why is Webi displaying all these different options?  When I display the options for currency in Bex only one 'USD' is shown in the list.   Here is my filter condition for currency type in the Universe:
    <OPTIONAL><FILTER KEY="[SELCUR]"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Select Currency','A','Organization\Cur Key',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER></OPTIONAL>
Cur Key is my customized hidden dimension
    Thank you

  • Business Objects Demo documents

    Hi All,
Client has requested for a demo on Business object reporting features.  Due to system constraints and short time frame, we are looking for demo of Business Objects reporting features that can be presented to the client.
    Architecture
Proposed solution features  BOBJ XI 3.1 SP2 as a front End Reporting Tool with SAP BW 7.0 as the back end data warehouse tool. SAP ECC 6.0 acts as the source system for SAP BW for all the data requirements.
    ECC 6.0 -SAP BW 7.0-SAP BOBJ XI 3.1- EP
Reports are created on top of SAP BW 7.0  using SAP Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2 tools ( Xcelsius, Web Intelligence and Crystal reports) as front end reporting tool . User will be accessing the reports from Enterprise Portal.
Do we have any demo representation of the BOBJ reporting features (reports are accessed from EP) on a end user perspective? The demo would feature the following scenario
    1) User logging into Enterprise portal and accessing the reports created and published using Business Objects tools ( Single Sign On).
    2) Report opens up with  different I-views in one web page. The different I-views shall be based on reports created using different BOBJ tools ( Xcelsius, Web Intelligence and Crystal reports) .
    3) Possible navigational features possible in these reports . Example can be
    a.     Switch to graphical representation from table format
    b.     Save data into excel format
    c.     Drill down/Slice and Dice in reports
    d.     Summarized and detail level of data
    e.     Insert calculations
    f.     Add rows and columns to tables
    g.     Formatting report
    h.     Other navigation features
    4) Create ad hoc reports using WebI and publishing the reports in Portal Favorites?
    5) Distribution of reports
If you have any related documents, would you be able to share with us.
    Regards,
    Manesh

    Hi Nicolai,
in this case you have to implement within ABAP a class for the SES interface.
Within this class you have to fetch the document content and store it in an attribute for SES.
This class implementation will be used by SES Framework to send it to TREX for indexing and searching.
So this is a customer ABAP development project based on SES Framework.
This is also done within the SAP Consulting Solution mentioned in Hinweis 1332745 - trex based document search with classification support.
Here the DMS originals are indexed with the DRAW data within SES.
So have a closer look how to use and implement own classes for SES in help.sap.com.
    Best regards
    Frank

  • Need Ideas for creating and using Custom Business Object

    Hello Guys,
I am developing an application which uses a Request->Approve->Create approach for creating Purchase documents.
Now I am a little puzzled about how to make use of the Business Object BUS2014.
The application I am developing has its own unique 'Request Number'  (say REQID)  which will point to the Request for Creation of a purchase order.
Whenever a Request is created (from a Z-Tcode) a workflow needs to be initiated and it has to be sent to the approver.
The Purchase Document will be created once the approver approves.
Now my confusion here is, if I use BUS2014, the object will be instantiated only during the final step of the workflow. But I need an instance during the beginning of the Requestor ->Approver negotiations as I am playing with events. These events needs an Object_key.
    How should I proceed here?
Should I create a new logical Business Object like ZPOREQ where I have the above mentioned REQID as the key?
And should I have an attribute of type BUS2014 inside the custom BO?
How will I make use of the methods like BUS2014.Create etc which I may need to create the purchase document?
Any small direction will be a huge help for me to get used to this wilderness.

    Hi,
You should continue with the ABAP class idea. The business objects are kind of "obsolete" already, and if there is a need to create a new "object", ABAP classes are the way to go. Business objects are still useful, but I normally use them only when an existing standard business object fulfills the requirements (possibly with slight additions) which is almost never.
From my point of view you can use the existing class. Depending on the circumstances I normally have just one class that I use for both workflow and the possible other functionality that is required, but you have to understand that I have this goal in my mind already when starting the development process. As your class most probably has many useful features already (such as you have the header and item data as attributes etc. (if I understood correctly?), these are also useful in in workflow (class attributes will be available in WF container etc.).
If you are hesitant to use the same class directly in your workflow, you could also create a new class ZCL_REQUEST_FOR_WF (with the workflow interface), and then simply add your existing class ZCL_WF_REQUEST as an attribute to this new class. Then this new workflow class could include the pure workflow stuff, and your existing class the non-workflow stuff. But this most probably will not make much sense - just implement the if_workflow interface in your existing class (this is just one possibility that you might consider.)
