Business Objects XI 3.1 using SQL Server 2005 SP3
Hi,
I've searched and googled and can't find a definitive answer to this question: I'm looking to move to BOXI 3.1 and am checking compatibility with our systems. The 3.1 Supported Platforms doc lists SQL Server 2005 RTM/SP1/SP2 as compatible, but I cannot find out whether SP3 is! I assume not, but the Supported Platforms doc is dated before the release of SP3- does anyone know whether SP3 will work and/or the document will be updated?
Thanks for your help!
Tom
Most likely it will work just fine. As supported platforms documents were released prior to SP3 release, they cannot be changed.
With new SP Supported platforms will have MS SQL2005 SP3 record in them.
What this means - product weas not tested with SQL2005 SP3, so we cannot guarantee that there are no issues.

SQL server 2005 SP3 can run SAP B1 2005A SP01 PL51
Hi All,
I could successfully install SAP B1 2005A SP01 PL51 in the SQL server 2005 SP3.
In this link:
http://service.sap.com/smb/sbo/platforms
you won't find it such info.
Why I upgrade, it is caused by the printing error issue using citrix.
Anyone of you that have problem after run the B1 on that SQL, pls share.
Someone who need webex file that shows the install process can request it to me. Let me know.
Rgds,Hi Arshdeep,
Thx for your reply. I just wonder why SAP did not inform the availability SP3 from Microsoft and the explanation about the inapplicable of SP3 for SAP B1 in the B1 platform link.
I have tested without using any steps and any other procedures. Practice is a good lesson to learn for me. Nevertheless, one concern from modern customers are the compatibility or adaptibility of SAP B1 to Microsoft product especially SQL since it is one of database platform.
Old-fashioned customer will disregard that because they will think as long as my SAP B1 and SQL server still run well, I don't care..

BPC 5.1 SP11 with SQL SERVER 2005 SP3
Hi all,
i have a BPC 5.1 SP11 single-server installation.
I know the DB Server prerequisite is Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2 and cumulative update package 8.
SQL Server 2005 SP3 is supported?
is there any document about compatibility?
have i install SP3 before or after BPC Installation?
thanksHI Paolo,
SQL Server 2005 SP3 is supported with SAP BPC 5.1 SP3 or any other later version.
We already installed for few customers SP3 and this patch fix bugs into SSAS and also improve some performances regarding SSAS.
So the recommendation will be to apply this patch in your environment because it will bring just benefits.
If you have multiserver installation remmeber that you have to apply the patch in all servers not just into Database server.

Creating and Using View Objects on JDev 10g against SQL Server 2005
I'm currently working on this project on Jdeveloper against a SQL Server 2005 DB (I couldn't talk this people to migrate to Oracle... :-( ), and it's the first time I work with JDev against a database other than 10g.
I had no problem making the connection, and I can see the DB in Conections->Databases, but when I create an app. module, and create entities and views and add them to the app. module to access them through the Data Controls, these don't work. I can see the view on the Data Controls, and when I drag them to my jspx page it shows the menu that let's me choose whether I want to create a table, or a selection, or a tree, but once I choose one, it does nothing.
I've search all over the internet and haven't found a solution, so I come to this forum desperate for help, seriously.
Please get in touch; if anyone knows another solution that doesn't involve not using JDev or SQL Server 2005, please let me know, because I basically need to have a few selectonechoice showing some data from a few tables.
Thanks for reading this post, and hope to get help.
Carlos.Hi,
can you run the model in the ADF BC tester ? If this is possible the SQL Server doesn't seem to be the problem. Are you on JDeveloper 10.1.3.3? If not, just get this latest build

Transactions using SQL Server 2005
Hi,
I use SBO 2005A, with SP01 and PL04. I have just realized that I can't use transactions (company object) because SQL Server 2005 doesn't support them. Help file says:
"Using a meta data object in a transaction is available only while working with MSSQL 2000 bdatabase. For DB2, Sybase, and MSSQL 2005 databases this meta data objects are not applicable due to database limitations."
Is there any way to use transactions in this DataBase??
Thanks in advance,
Dulce."Metadata" in B1 / DI API means User-Defined Fields (UDF) / User-Defined Tables (UDT) / User-Defined Keys / User-Defined Objects (UDO)...
...which are used to administrate (add/update/remove) such DB objects which can be defined through the B1 aplication or DI API (not through DI Server).
Usually Add-Ons use these "matadata" objects to add UDFs, UDTs etc.
Besides adding the real DB objects to the DB some additional information is kept in administrative tables inside the particular company DB: UDFs => CUFD, UFD1; UDT => OUTB etc....
This is NOT about the data inside a UDT (or in UDFs)!!!

How to use SQl server 2005's SQLXMLBulkLoad with JAVA
Hi All,
I am in a big problem identifying how to use xml bulk insert functionality of sql server 2005 with java.
I need to enter millions of data into the sql server 2005 database.
All the material i saw on net includes vb script or asp.net sripts to do so.
Somebody please tell how I can do this with JAVA.
Thanks. In this forum we commonly discuss connections from Oracle to foreign databases. When you want to connect with your SQL Server to Oracle it would be better to ask that in a Microsoft forum as they support their LINKED SERVER mechanism.
The linked server set up is for example described in the Microsoft knowledge base as:
280106 - HOW TO: Set Up and Troubleshoot a Linked Server to Oracle in SQL Server
In newer SQl Server releases the name changed see for example:
How to run a SQL Server 2005 Integration Services package as a SQL Server Agent job step
View products that this article applies to.
Article ID : 912911
As you can see they are commonly using OLEDB driver. So you might have to install Oracle's OLEDB driver as well. Else you might think about using OLEDB to ODBC bridge -

true, but you know as well as I do that requirements documents are usually not written by people with the least understanding on those complexities...
And if a company assigns such a project to someone like OP who clearly doesn't know how to deal with such requirements documents, that only shows their morosity all the more clearly :)
Assuming that I'm able to find a list of TCP connections on network, how do I know which of them are sqlserver? That isn't what I said. A "protocol" is a description of a methodology involving functionality and communication which solves a particular problem.
There is a "protocol" which describes how to find MS SQL Servers. You don't make it up yourself. You find the description, read what it says and implement it.Or more likely (like Oracle) there's no such security problem in MS SQL Server and instead it relies on the client knowing the connection details or it'll never find them. -
I'm building a turn-key system for a client who needs an
inhouse system based on my code. Probably the load will never get
heavier than 100 hits a minute at peak, if that. The code was
developed using full blown SQL Server. Will SQL code from the full
blown run on Express? Does Express come with the saved procedures
(ie; sp_columns_rowset)?
In other words, is anyone using Express and if so what's your
experience? We are using Express on our intranet. Things are working OK,
but the single processor limit and the max of 1 gb of RAM are
putting quite a throttle on performance. I must admit that
peformance is no better than with the previous Access databases.
Now that we have "proven concept" with SQL Server Express, I
have just put the $$$ in the budget for next year to upgrade to the
full blown version of SQL Server.
ALSO, there is a caveat with regard to using Express with
ColdFusion. The description and resultant solution is illustrated
