Business Objects XIR2 Infoview login issue

Hello -
I have a typical issue with BO Infoview login screen where the system name is showing incorrectly. The value should be coming from the configuration from web.xml file but it shows a totally different name with no option to update it. I checked the windows registry and system valiarbles but I haven't found anywhere on the system. Any ideas where this value is coming from ? Thanks.

Thanks Denis. I see that the login issue has been resolved, but I noticed a different error when I login and logout from CMC. Here's the error message... not sure if this is connected to the previous one.

XIR2 is not compatible with IE11 at all. You're user will see all sorts of possible issues. Or no issues at all.
XIR2 is no longer supported by SAP (several years now) so no testing or patching been done to make XIR2 compatible.

Headings and commands duplicated in Business Objects XIR2

My headings and commands keep getting duplicated in Business Object XIR2 for Visual Studio 2005. It's hard to take a picture because screen capture closes the menu, but right now I have two "Crystal Reports" menus listed in the Visual Studio 2005 main menu. Each of these menus has four insert items, with similar duplication for the other items, and the inset menus have similar duplicates. I think all this duplication is eating up memory in Visual Studio because I keep getting out of memory messages even though I have a lot of RAM and a large page file. Any idea what is going on here? How can I reset the menus back to their original state without manually editing them?

Scheduling Options(CMC)/ Business Objects Xir2

Environment spec:
Aix 5.3
Business Objects Xir2
Crystal reports Xi
DB2
Tomcat
Whilst scheduling a report from the CMC, there is a 'Schedule For' tab
I am trying to determine how this option works, whilst scheduling for a selected group/users.
I have reviewed the relevant documentation in the Business Objects Administrators guides in reference to this including Xi, XiR2 and XiR3/3.1.
There is no clear definition.
I asked this question, as we are trying to determine if whilst using this option does BO execute the query and then filter data according to each group/user OR execute the query for each specific user/group. If the latter is the case then this will have a big impact on our environment resources.
unfortunately we have reach EOL for Business Objects XiR2 so tech support will no longer advise us.
If anyone can provide us with any insight or direction this will be greatly appreciated

Option u2018Schedule foru2019 is generally used when you want schedule the reports on behalf of other users such that when underlying queries hit the database, they use the useru2019s id and pull the data based on his authorization over the data.
With SAP BW as backend, the impact can easily be seen where a report will show different dataset if run for two different sap user who different data access. Same should be the case with other databases as well.

Applet Java_Report_Panel Notinited Error in Business Objects XIR2 Webi

Hi,
I am facing a error Applet Java_Report_Panel Notinited when I want to create or edit a Web Intelligence report.
The Current version of BO is XIR2.
The version of Java installed on my machine is 1.6.0.
Whenever, I try to create or modify a new report through Infoview, I get a blank Page and at the bottom of the Infoview, it displays
Java Report Panel Notinited.
This was working fine till yesterday. There were no changes or updates done on the machine.
Just for reference, the reports work fine, when I use the other panels such as the Query-HTML and HTML Report Panel.
I had enabled all the required options in the Internet Explorer. but still, I face the Issue.
Let me know what has to be done in resolving the same.

Are you absolutely sure about no changes applied? I.e. you solely are the administrator, and you have sole access to this server in regards to administration, loading patches, or other configurations? The "no init" I ran into a couple of years back and the cause was our web admin wanted to make a shorter URL appear in the address bar (something like ACME.com/BO) versus ACME.com/businessobjects/enterprise115/infoview, so he built a "virtual" web folder and had it say "BO". Well, everything worked fine in Infoview, logging in, running reports, etc, etc, however, after loading a particular service pack, and then when we went to build a new web intelligence document the whole house of cards came toppling down. Long story short, we had to forego the "BO" short name and revert back to the long URL, as ugly as it appeared, the previous method of "BO" was not longer applicable with the new "java bridge" that Business Objects had implemented with their new service pack. So, perhaps someone tried to make things more efficient for you, but in the long run actually broke a few things along the way....

Business Objects XI R2 Launchpad issue

Hi All,
We just recently upgraded to Weblogic 9.2 and we are using Business Objects Enterprise XI R2 on the server. Everything was working fine on the previous version of Weblogic 8.1 SP4.
Scenario 1.
Open up new webpage with the launchpad and you click on Central Management Console Link then you ALT TAB back to the Launch Pad and Click InfoView Link you get an Error "From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1";
Scenario 2.
Open up new webpage with the launchpad and you click
on InfoView Link then you ALT TAB back to the Launch Pad and Click Central Management Console Link you get an Error "From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1";
Scenario 3.
Open up new webpage with the launchpad and you click
either InfoView Link or Central Management Console Link then you ALT TAB back to the Launch Pad and REFRESH the web page you get an Error "From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1";
Any help would be great in helping us solve this problem.

Cause of this issue :
Once the Job Server recieves the scheduled job and spawns a new child process, the child process is unable to complete the job. The child process constantly is waiting to load the job. Looking further into the log and specifically the startup script, the -port option was incorrectly used (-restart-port) and didn't allow the child process to bind to the correct port using the correct DNS name.
In Order to resolve this issue follow the steps given below..
1.Open CCM
2. Stop Server
3. Right Click Server and go to Properties
4. insert -port option in to command line, example below
ex. "
win2k3\C$\ProgramFiles\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\JobServerFullClient.exe" -service -name win2k3.Desktop_IntelligenceJobServer -ns win2k3 -objectType CrystalEnterprise.FullClient -lib pp_procFC -jsTypeDescription "Desktop Intelligence Job Server" -maxDesktops 0 -restart -port win2k3.it.bo.example
5. Save setting and restart server.

Brand New Installation of Business Objects XIr2 Application Server

Hello,
We have recently acquired Business Objects XI r2 as we are in the process of migrating from Business Objects 6.5.1
We currently use BO 6.5.1 on a small scale using Business Query via excel to access a remote Data Warehouse. I beleive we will now use Live Office in the new XI world.
We have acquired licenses for the following components, and I really would like some assistance on how to install them and in which order
Business Objects Enterprise Professional
Business Objects Live Office
Business Objects Web Intelligence
I have a windows 2003 server in place to host the application, but where do I start ? Which component do I need to install first ?

Hmm, this is Redhat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 - it's basically a 'snapshot' of our existing dev system.
One thing I have seen elsewhere is a problem with the libstdc++ compatability library, but it looks like that's installed (we tried tossing in a copy we had from CentOS, and got:

Xcelsius error when export to sap business object platform (Infoview)

i create an instance of report by USER1... and..... dashboard is pointed to latest instance.
when i refresh a dashboard (by clicking on refresh button) it requires login to infoview ... i login to infoview by USER 2 not by USER1.....
it showing an error
_The current refresh option requires a report instance that does not exist. (LO 26301)_
Note:-But data is changing in dashboard
any solution for solving this error.

Requirements and Architecture for Business Objects Universe

Hi - apologies in advance for the probable repeat question but a search of the forums brought back an overload of information that wasn't quite specific enough.
We are about to purchase an application that comes with a Business Objects Universe but we've been told that we'll need to sort out our own licensing for the Client/Server side of its use.
I've done a lot of work with Crystal Reports in the past but having read up on Business Objects it appears that either the Desktop Intelligence of Web Intelligence clients are designed for the reporting facilities in BO.
Basically, the question is what exactly do we need to run reports from the BOU across the company AND what server architecture is required/recommended for the same?
As I see it, the BOU is the equivalent of an ORM layer in software development. This would mean we'd have:
DATABASE
UNIVERSE
REPORTING CLIENT
...where the reporting client allowed the development and distribution of reports based on the specific licences purchased. However the reporting client wouldn't be Crystal Reports - is that correct?
Also is there any ballpark figure for the server and client licence costs? Assuming 5 developers and up to 300 users (although it may only be management needing viewer access so possibly only a dozen users on top of the developers in that case).
I've tried to work this out for myself but there seems to be a lot of confusion around what is Business Objects (the product) and who Business Objects the company are and where Crystal fits in with everything.
For a bog-standard implementation of a BOU what is absolutely necessary?

Hi Nic,
As you've described Universe is a meta data layer in between Database and Reporting Layer. You could create reports using Desktop Intelligence, Web Intelligence, Web Intelligence Rich Client and even Crystal Reports. DeskI, WebI Rich, Crystal Reports do require client installations and you have an added advantage of using local data sources like excel and create reports. WebI also creates reports but you don't need any separate client installer for it.
For the ball park figure I'd contact Sales Team...
Your question regarding what is absolutely necessary, there are lot more things need to be taken into consideration like below
1) What are the repeorting needs at a little detailed level?
How would it help: Though there are several reporting tools for users and their reporting needs, it helps in deciding on which of the reporting tools should be the prime ones. Like WebI can be used as Adhoc Reporting Tool once you design your universe.
2) Where would you want these reports to be deployed or on what portal do you want to see reports?
How would it help: It helps in deciding what should be the presentation layer for the reports and how it should be designed. Business Objects has InfoView portal that comes default where you can deploy DeskI, WebI, Crystal Reports. Or if you need to use an existing sharePoint portal you'd need Integration with Sharepoint software.
3) Do you need ETL tools to load your data?
How would it help: It helps in making recommendation on ETL process and if Business Objects Data Integrator is suitable for the scenario

Are PDFs created by Business Objects editable ?

I have created a report using Business Objects(BO) InfoView. Run report to generate report with data. Saved to PC as PDF.
BUT I don't seen to be able to make any edits to the words in the report using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 (using Touch Up Text Tool) (I can edit words in non BO PDFs).
Document Properties > Security = No Security and all possible retrictions are set to allowed.
Can anyone help please ?

Hi.
Using standard text tool I can select text, copy and paste into another app. eg. note pad.
But' touch up text tool' does nothing with same piece of text - doesn't highlight in any way, can't click in middle of sentance and press delete button to remove characters.
As I said, I can us the 'touch up text tool' in other PDFs (so although not an expert, I do sort of know how it should work)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Business Objects Dashboard External HTML/JAVA Script Link - User Authentication Depolyment Q

Hello,I have a rather unstructured problem here and am relatively new to Business Objects Enterprise. We have users who are authenticated through Business Objects. The login sets their access levels and permissions. In addition to the BO reports, we would also like to link through BO Dashboard a JAVA Script webpage.The JAVA Script and Business Object software sits on the same webserver.The problem is that through BO Dashboard and also an external URL link we can only pass a static link (i.e. /some directory/some doc.html) and not a dynamic userid with the URL, which changes based on the user (i.e. /some directory/some doc.jsp?UID=user1).The solution might be to insert a Business Object API call that can determine the user who is currently logged in? Or, if there is some way around the static html link through Business Objects Dashboard?Any ideas or thoughts would be deeply appreciated.Thanks,Joe

Are you setting Business Objects up as an external application?
If so, what parameters are you using to set it up?
Based on the fact that you're seeing the basic auth dialog, you probably need to specify
that it's using basic auth -- not GET.

DB2 V9.1.5 compatiblilty to Business Object V5.1.2

We are currently using Business Object v5.1.2 and DB2 v8.2. As support of DB2 v8.2 is ending by March2009, we need to upgrade to DB2 v9.1.5. Can DB2 v9.1.5 compatible with Business Object v5.1.2?

Display the login User ID on Header in Business Objects XI R3.1 Infoview

In XI R2 Infoview- the login user ID is displayed on header. However In XI R3.1 infoview- displayed Business Objects Logo on the same place of the Header. We noticed that In BO XI3.1 infoview the login user ID is displayed on header. However the Business Objects logo is displayed on top of the user ID so the user ID is hidden. while Setting the Infoview Application properties in CMC (CMC>Applications>Infoview Application Properties> check Do not display logo) then it will hide the logo and then next login displays the login user ID. Could someone please confirm is it the solution with this configuration or else please help us how to display the user ID on Infoview Header.

What you did is exactly correct.
Now you did on XI-R2 and 3.1 right??, whenever you got upgrade to next release of BO version again you have to do the same changing of properties. Which should not be dynamic based on your previous changes on earlier versions.
