Business Objects XIR3.1 and BI4.1 Licensing structure

Hello,
We have a number of named (BOEP) Business Objects Ebterprise professional licenses for XIR3.1.
Q1. I am assuming that any named user on the BOEP, should be able to use any of the Server / Desk top products.
I have been advised by my acct manager that we need a separate licence / cost for using Webi Rich Client tool (available on the desktop ?
Is this correct ?
Is there a list of document to tell me what is Desktop tools (Deski, Webi , Designer0 and Server tools (Infoview, Webi) etc ate are covered by BOEP license ?
We are planning to migrate to BI4.1
Hence, What tools are covered for a BOEP named user license. In particular we want to continue using Deski in compatible mode .
Any documents, help or enlightenment on this will be of great assistance.
Yes, I can go to my SAP BO acct manager - but due to mixed messages I want to get this sorted

Please check the SAP support site for more details.
http://service.sap.com --> go to "Key and Requests" tab
If this is not enough, please raise a message/incident to get support from SAP on this. They can provide a clear understanding about your license keys.

Translation Manager Business Object XIr3, problem

I have a problem with the Translation Manager Business Object XIr3.
If I understood well, it permits multilanguage users to see for example reports with their own language, setting up the preferencies, logging in InfoView.
Now I have installed it and I choosed two languages: English(UK) and Russian.
The problem is explained better in the following table:

Now I ask you if, according to you, Translation manager may has this kind of problem, and, in this case, if you know how to resolve it.

Creating Business Object Reports and Dashboards utilizing Informatica

I need to create Business Object Reports and Dashboards utilizing Informatica database. Please let me know what connections I need to create to integrate the data into Web Intelligence, Universe, Xcelsius, and Crystal Reports.

I've just done some quick checking and I don't see a native connection type for Infomatica in Designer or Crystal. (Designer is a tool for building universes - WebI and Xcelsius both read data through a universe, Crystal can read data through a direct connection to the database or through a universe.) This means you'll probably have to set up a "generic" ODBC connection in order to connect to it.

Difference between Business Objects Explorer and Polestar

Explorer is the new product name for Polestar. There have been a few versions of Explorer released since it was called Polestar, but you can find the latest 'whats new' doc here which lists the latest additions:

For one, Explorer now comes in two editions... Standard and Accelerated. The Explorer Standard edition allows reporting off of Universes, just as the original Polestar product did. Explorer Accelerated allows reporting off of SAP BWA indexes as well as Business Objects universes. Both versions now allow uploading of excel files to report off of. You can export an Information Space to a Webi doc or Excel file. Users can now save favorite links to an Information Space. Sorting has been improved as well as graphing functions and overall display. You'll have to install the latest build of Explorer - "Explorer 3.2 SP1" and compare. I don't know of a document or matrix that compares Polestar to Explorer. The two are basically the same product with a number of enhancements added to the Explorer line.

Basically, there is no difference. Till the version 7.0, it was called business planning and consolidation. From 7.5 ,its called business objects planning and consolidation.

I try to create a sales document category L (Debit memo request) with the BAPI BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2
I get the error message: Unpermitted combination of business object BUS2032 and sales doc. category L
Is there a specific Bapi for creating this sales document?

Exploiting the DW / BI of Business Objects requires a separate license ?

Hello Rheda,
if you want to use the BO Analytic tools you need a seperate license for the tool you are want to use. The Analytic tools are not included in a BW license.
For example you would need an additional license for Crystal Reports or Crystal Xcelsius and so on...
The best would be asking your Accountmanager at SAP/BO for further informations.

Business Objects Reports and Web Services for Dashboards

Hello!
I am writing a Business Object report against my Universe. I save the report to the CMS and then right click on the report block and click "Publish as a Web Service...". This opens up that diaglog and I am able to publish the web service. I then can import the web service into Dashboards 4.1 (Xcelsius) and am working working to figure it out further at this point.
My question is this: When I go back to the report in Business Objects, and modify the report, I would like to republish the web service. I click on Design and rework the report. Run the report. Save the report. I right click on the report block and I don't see the "Publish as a Web Service..." choice.
What am I doing wrong?

Go to the web service publisher, expand the web service, select the block and select edit.
Select the content and prompt and select Update.

Transaction KB16N business-object type and key for GOS

When attachments (notes, PC documents etc) are made to a manual cost allocation in transaction KB16N using GOS (generic object services):
what is the business-object type?
how is the business-object key constructed?
I suspect that the business-object type is BUS6036.
I suspect that the business-object key is the concatenation of the controlling area and the document number (using internal values).
Is that correct?
The reason for my question is that I have a program to display attached notes (and allow drill-down to attached PC documents) that works for various business objects (billing documents, purchasing documents and some FI documents), but I cannot get it to work for manual cost allocations.

Business Objects Edge and Crystal reports integration.

I'm new to the SAP BO application and I would like to know how to allow users to create and publish Crystal Reports via the Business Objects applicaiton. Currently I have published some reports and the users are able to View then via the InfoViewer Web interface. Now I have a request to allow the users to create their own Crystal reports and publish them. The problem is that the users are not part of my companies network but we have a VPN connection that they user to login to the InfoViewer Web front end to view the reports I have published.

what for a Database do you mean ? The Repository Database or the Database with your productive Data for Designing the Reports?

When they enter their username and password in InfoView the Application Server (Tomcat) does it.
2.
Via their ODBC connection. Or when you use Oracle via the native client.

Business Objects, InfoBus and DataForms

HI!
I have created two projects
1. the STATJB - Busines Components
2. the STATManagerApp - Interface application
In the Interface application i need two forms
1. The form with non editable grid with list of clients and buttons: <new>, <edit>, <delite>
2. The form with fields of the current selected client from the first form for editing
I use Business Objects, InfoBus Components and DataForms.
I still don't understand the right way of using them together. :(
Where can i find any description and example of the correct framework?

I recommend the online help for instructions on the basic process for binding the Infobus data items and controls to their Business Components counterparts.
For information on programming specific controls such as buttons, events, etc, you might try the javasoft website. The Infobus controls are based on Swing. Programming events, launching new frames for editing, are typical activities you would perform with Swing components. The javasoft website has tutorials and online documentation which you might find helpful.

Integrating Business Object Attributes and Database attribute

Newbie using Oracle BPM 11g
I am trying the following:
1)Display two process fields from Business Objects (say firstname, last name) and one field which is a dropdown (say branchcode) from database using ADF UI.
2)Initiator enters the firstname,lastname and then selects a branchcode from the drop down and submits the form.
3)A Reviewer has to view these three fields selected by the Initiator.
My question is how do we enable the reviewer to see the branchcode selected by the Initiator(as it is list of values from database and not from a business object)

unfortunately this didn't solve it.
The confusing is, that I see the System in the loaded DQE window at the metadata loader, but the corresponding business objects of this system appear without any parameters.
I have no idea what else to do!
