Business One Backup Procedure
Does anyone have or know where I can find a procedure for backing up my database via the Service Manager. I am unsure exactly how to set this up and need to get it working properly. Any help would be great.
Hi Joe............
You can manage the SAP DB Backups from Service Manager.
Go to Start> Programs> SAP Business One> Server tools> Select SBO Backup in drop down and click on Schedule button where set the scedule of Autobackup.
Then Setting Button and Set the Location where to be backed up.
Then connection give SQL server details
Then Click on Batabase and select Db for which Back up is to be set and Then press Start buton...
This will take Back up of selected DB on specified Time in specifed Location........
Hope this will help you.......
Regards,
Rahul

How to restore SAP Business One Backup?
Hi all,
When I schedule SAP Business One Backup using Server tools, it creating compressed backup file. This contest of compressed file having .BU extension.
Now my qeestion is how do I restore this backup file?
Thanks in advance
B Ravi ShankarHello,
Open SQL Server Management Studio (SQL 2005) or Enterprise Manager (SQL 2000). You could directly restore the backup of the database but you must create new database first where its mdf and log files are located in the certain folder or data folder of SQL server and then restore the BU database by right click on the new database name > Tasks > Restore..Database and select your backup file from its location. On the Restore Database Screen. Check the Restore box and in the Options check "Overwrite the existing database". you must also check if the location is correct.
If you have had olde database and just want to restore the new database from other server to old one, you could directly restore.
Rgds, -
What is the correct procedure to make.
1. Every evening a "hot" on-line back.
2. Every saturday evening a "full" backup.
Message was edited by:
olivejuiceThe databases are running in archive mode.
Daily we do an on-line backup at 10pm.
We have an incremental tape backup of our system every night.
On saturday, I manually shutdown the databases and I copy the ORADATA files to a directory that is backup with our full tape backup during saturday night.
It's this procedure that I want to automate.
I can only create one backup procedure in EM console.
So my question is, how can I create an extra weekly off-line (with shutdown and restart of the databases) backup thats runs automatically. -
To create a new company in business one
How would I create a new company in business one that exisited on another system?
Hi Jonathan,
You can take back of Existing Database from that Server Server 1.
Then in other Server Server 2 in SQL, Create one database in SQL and then Restore Back up of Database which you have taken from another Server i.e. Server 1.
After Restore of Database in Sever 2 in SQL, you can Login in Restored Database which you have done just now.
In Addition, Please check below link.

Hola amigos:

SAP Business One 8.8 Developer License
Hi,
I am relatively new to SAP but has years of experience has a developer. I would like to develop competencies on SAP Business One 8.8 (or the latest version) to enable me deploy, consult and develop add ons for the platform.
I would like to aquire a single developer's license that would enable me install the solution and the SDK on my laptop and also download the solutions.
I do not have a SAP business Partner account or access to the market place. I am also interested in books on the subject but I only got a book on SAP Business One 2005 edition.
I would appreciate any advise or assistance on this.
Regards
DebolaHi, I'm just new here in sap community. I read some of your post and i know you can provide an answer.
I have a Laptop, corei3, 4gb ram 500gb and win 7pro. Im planning to install the sap B1 8.8 pl 10 for training purposes only.
Is it possible to run SAP B1 on my laptop?Do I need to add ram? I don't have other hardware to use. If it is possible please provide me the step by step procedure on how to install it.

Crystal report parameter problem while uploading in sap business one
Hi
All
I designed a crystal report using
stored procedure
and
Routemas user defined table
in sql server with three parameter
routname,from date,to date
these parameters are from storedprocedure only but not created in report
i set the parameter routename as dynamic and i assigned the routename field from routemas table
when i run the report in the parameter window it displays the list of routenames
upto this is k but
when i upload this report in sap business one 8.81 PL-05 and
run this report in sap environment First it asks parameters there
it didnt display the list of routnames
when the parameter routname is set as static and assign some routenames manually
then it shows the list in sap environment
Can any suggest the answer
Edited by: madhu ganga raju on Oct 17, 2011 7:06 AMHi Rhaul,
i don't exactly know why this is a problem, but if your not on latest (881 p10) then upgrade and try again.
Or as a workaround,
try saveing from CR to SAP with the CR add-on. That usualy works better then the import.

Can different cluster of SAP Business One installed on the same Server
Hi!
Can anyone tell me if B1 different cluster version installed and run on the same server. Example B1 2005A AND B1 2005B. If it can, could you please include the procedure how can it be done.
Thanks,
Jo BorlagdanNo, A and B have different patch cycles - so there would be conflicts in SBO-Common. Therefore it will not work.
You could try to workaround that with named instances of MSSQL, but installation & update would need additional care + workarounds.
The best way to combine 2 SAP Business One cluster "servers" but still on one hardware would be to use a tool like VMWare... - but such a configuration has not been released by SAP - i.e. if there's an issue that could be traced back to the VMWare system, SAP might not be (li?)able to fix it
Sorry,
Frank

BTW: Please note that you need to think eventually about conflicts with MS licenses. SAP has an agreement with MS which ASFAIK covers the license for 1 VMWare Windows system on 1 Windows PC so that we can use WMWare for SAP Business One sandbox systems - after RAM upgrades () it works fine... -

180 GB of my 639-GB Macintosh hard drive is used. 320 GB of my 498-GB Tie Capsule is used. Only one backup ("now") exists for the Time Capsule, which can no longer backup because of "insufficient space". How come? What is wrong?"
Thank you William for your most helpful response. I shall deal first with your three comments:
Not being tech savvy, I would not have been able to make that call myself but it sure makes sense.
I have updated my profiles as you suggest. Excellent tip.
This guidance is good. Being new to Apple Support Communities, I did not find the field a labeling and guidance to be clear, a point you make. Now I know, I shall do as you say and will use the small slim box as a header to the full message/question, which will place in the larger box below.
Secondly, I come to your question: Did anything change on your Mac recently, such as replacing the disk or main logic board?
The answer is “yes”. Two events have happened both of which concerned the Time Capsule:
The telephone company, with which I have access to the Internet and I have my email account, installed a new modum. After the technician left I had to try and get the Time Capsule and WiFi working again which ended with my having to call Apple for technical assistance. The Apple technician walked me through a number of procedural steps which effectively re-set up the Time Capsule.
Access to the Internet failed and the telephone company reset the modum. I had to call Apple again. This time the technician did not reset the Time Capsule but walked me through a number of steps tha included renaming the “site” (not the Time Capsule).
Another piece of information that may be relevant is that the MacBook Pro uses the Time Capsule for backup. Everything appears to be in order. When I enter the Time Capsule for this laptop I have backups going back for a long time.
Also, I do a weekly backup of the two computers onto another external hard drive using the Time Machine software. So I have another backup of both computers. -
Running SAP Business One on a 64-bit server
One of our clients wants to upgrade their server to a 64-bit server running Windows Server 2008.
What are the implications of this and do we also need to then use Microsoft SQL Server 2008?
I went to this web link: https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/smb/sbo/platforms and found some info, but the questions I still have is the following:
1. If we upgrade to SQL 2008, do we have to buy licenses or can we also just get an installation from SAP with our software (if we've gone live over 2 years ago already on SQL 2000, then upgraded to SQL 2005).
2. Can we still stay on SQL 2005 or is it better to use SQL 2008 and what is the implications?
I found the following on the link posted above:
Mar 11: SAP Business One 2007 now supports Microsoft® SQL Server 2008.
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 is now fully supported by SAP Business One 2007 A (as of patch 47) and SAP Business One 2007 B (as of patch 10), including SAP-developed add-ons.
Jan 21: SAP Business One 2007 now supports Microsoft® Windows Server 2008.
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 is now fully supported by SAP Business One 2007 A (as of patch 46) and SAP Business One 2007 B (as of patch 09), including SAP-developed add-ons. 64-bit and WTS support are still pending and will be announced when available.
What exactly does the bold part mean?
Any tips/hints on making this decision will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
AdeleHi Adele,
"64-bit and WTS support are still pending and will be announced when available" means that Windows 2008 64bit has not been tested working with SAP Business One yet. Thus not supported (yet).
Same applies to W indows T erminal S erver 32bit and 64bit.

I am not sure if procedure as described in note [928839|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMSZ3PTU4ODAwMDAr)/bc/bsp/spn/smb_searchnotes/display.htm?note_langu=E¬e_numm=928839] will apply. In order to get excact clarification I have asked the owner of the note to update it reagarding MSSQL 2008 licenses.

Yes, you can still stay on MSSQL 2005 and upgrade later to MSSQL 2008. The other way around will not work. MSSQL 2008 is currently supported only as of SAP Business One 2007 A PL47 or SAP Business One 2007 B PL10. Know more detail about the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One ?
SAP Business One 9.1 is about to release this year and we can see in the feature enhancements that a significant update is planned in the Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One, more commonly known as RSP. Let’s have a quick look what update is planned for RSP in version 9.1:
Enhancements planned in Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One 9.1
RSP is planned to support both SAP Business One on Microsoft SQL Server as well as SAP Business One on HANA Database
RSP Processes and Reports adapted to SAP HANA Database
With this plan RSP will help in the areas of Download, Installation, Go-Live Check, Monitoring, Upgrade and Support for SAP Business One both on SQL Server and HANA.
But like me (non-SAP B1 Consultant) many of you have the question what is RSP and how it helps in support? Here I have tried to gather all information.
What is Remote Support Platform for SAP Business One?
The remote support platform for SAP Business One is designed to protect a SAP Business One installation by providing automated and remote support in a high-volume business.
The platform monitors the entire SAP Business One environment. By significantly reducing the time between the appearance, identification, and resolution of issues, the remote support platform for SAP Business One minimizes the impact on customer databases and processes.
Some Key Features of Remote Support Platform:
Showing alerts to SAP B1 Admin about the events which require their attention, such as low disk space, database backups, etc.
Incident Reports against the issues identified which require attention of SAP Support
Company Database Backup and Restore options
Regular fixes of Company Database inconsistencies
Check, Download and Install regular updates in SAP Business One
Upload Logs and required files to SAP Support or to Partner Support on regular basis
Some details about RSP Backup Management
Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly backups
Perform differential and full database backups
Back up transaction logs
Back up files to shared folders on a network
System Status Report through RSP
From June 1st 2013, it will be mandatory to install, configure and upload the System Status Report (SSR) from Remote Support Platform (RSP) for SAP Business One in order to receive support for messages of a technical nature (upgrades, performance & crashes, etc).
Database uploads only via RSP
From June 1st 2013 SAP Business One Support will only accept database uploads to SAP via remote support platform for SAP Business One. In certain exceptional circumstances STFP may be used but this will constitute a minority of cases.
Microsoft Windows PowerShell Scripting
In the remote support platform studio, you can create tasks using Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting. PowerShell enables you to perform remote administrative tasks on customers’ Microsoft Windows operating systems, by providing full access to Component Object Model (COM) and Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).Some Network Prerequisite for RSP
To achieve the internet connection test, you must allow port 80 for the RSP external communication
Disabling antivirus firewall or add the RSP to the trusted zone of the antivirus
Set the correct proxy
Disabling Windows firewall in the TP_link Wireless Configuration Utility

SAP Business One 9.1 is about to release in this year with many feature enhancements in various areas, such as in Business Logic and Localization, Reporting and Analytics, Lifecycle Management and Support, SDK Features for extensibility, Infrastructure and Architecture, etc. , with this upgrade every organization using SAP Business One is also expecting that some previous System Crash problems associated with SAP Business One 8.8 or 9.0, will also be resolved with the advent of 9.1.
But until 9.1 is available in GA, we have to know and follow some procedures to avoid this situation. Through this blog we have addressed ‘How to handle common system crashes in SAP Business One until you upgrade to SAP Business One 9.1’.
