Business package, different format

Hi online friends,
FYI
i found that higher version business packages are .sca, so we have to deploy them via SDM.
and also i noticed that higher version bps are published with name 'support pakcage01..'.
if i am wrong, please correct me.

Two different system has to be created in portal. In the system object you have to set the connector properties, user admin, user mapping and the WAS for BW and ITS for R/3 properties.
You have to create the system alias and the test the connection.
For import and export of the certificates. you have to use Strustsso2 transaction.

anybody knows a solution, to support a Busienss Package for ECC5.0 and 6.0 on one NW7.0 Portal?
We build a concernportal as mainportal with different companies in one portal. These companies have their own SAP-Systems.
It´s a complex systemlandscape:
Company ABC have a SAP HR System with ECC5.0 with one client 401.
Company XYZ have a SAP HR System with ECC6.0 with TWO clients 020 and 050.
These both companies wants to get the Business Package for ECC5.0 and ECC6.0
Our solution is to implement the Federated Portal Network, thats works very fine. (Okay, Sessionproblem with ECC5.0)
For company ABC we installed a Javastack on host to install the WebDynpros directly to targetsystem ECC5.0
For company XYZ we have a problem with FPN, because the two clients in the targetsystem.
We installed a Javastack with portal on this machine, import BP for ECC6.0, customize portal and ABAP and pick the roles vis FPN from mainportal. But only for ONE client (020).
Now we can´t connect these Jco´s to the other client, because the users, tehre are in client 050 are not in 020 for logon to the portal. The portal supports only one client as UME on a doublestack-installation.
On Mainportal we don´t install any business packages, because there are only for one Targetrelease.
SAP Help have a solution for mapping the Jco´s, but don´t help us:

Does anyone have same problems?
Must we install a Javaonly-system, to connect the other Client for company XYZ (050) ?

There are two approaches (that I'm aware of):
- install external authentication (such as an LDAP which can be populated from the R/3 backends)
- install an additional Java instance
I would go for both of them because
- it will make things easier if you implement other functionality that is in the portal (non-ESS)
- it will avoid patching one portal and to keep the SPs of both backend systems in sync with the portal

Business Package, Alias and different systems....

Hello everybody,
I have got some questions concerning the mentioned topics.
I have a business package (Internal Sales Repr.) and it is already installed.
1. On each iView in the business package there is set an ID for a SAP System, for example a BW. Is this the SID or is it the ALIAS I defined for a system to access the BW?
2. There is a machine with enterprise portal, R/3 and BW running under the same SID. They all have different clients. (thank god it is a test system and not productive)
Do I need to create different systems in the portal to access to BW and R/3 because of the different clients?
Is it generally possible to implement SSO form the portal to the Backend, if they have the same SID?
3. The ID from 1. is not set as a deltalink. Is it defined by default or it is set when I install the business package?

Importing Business Package more than once for different systems

Hi,
We have a demo portal (EP6 SP12) connecting to various SAP systems. We want to use the same Business Package for two different systems. Is there any way to import a Business Package a second time with a different system alias, without overwriting the first import, so we can point it to a different system?

Prakash - I had thought of this, but I would then have to recreate the pages, worksets and roles manually. Also some BPs contain hundreds of iviews so it would be very time consuming to manually edit the system alias on each one.
Karsten - At the moment, we're interested in the ESS and MSS Business Packages but I would also like to know generally, since I'm sure in the future this will apply to other BPs for us.

Best Practice in using Business Packages

Hi All,
Are there any Best Practices in the use of Business Package content? Do you assign the Roles delivered by the Business Package and do you make changes to the original iViews?

Do you copy the content delivered in the Business Package to a new folder and work with there?
These questions are purely at the configuration level and not at the Java coding level. For instance if I want to turn of the iView Tray, or change a parameter such as height, or even remove an iView from a page or Role.
I would like to know the various approaches the SDN community uses and the different challenges and benefits that result in each approach.

I also build my own roles. The only time I might use the standard roles is for demo purposes early in a project. You will find that in some cases the business packages like MSS don't always even include standard roles, so you have no choice but to build.
I never change any of the standard iViews/Pages/Worksets - ever.
The most contentious issue seems to be whether to do a full or delta link copy of the standard objects. I tend to initially do a full copy of the objects into a custom folder set in the PCD and modify those. Then I only use delta links from Page to iViews where I need the option of setting different properties for the same iView if it appears in multiple pages. Delta links can be a bit flakey at times, so I tend to only use them where I have to. I suspect that I may get to a point where I don't use them at all.

Best Practice to implement Business Packages

Hello All,
Need some clarification -
What is the best practice to implement ESS/MSS Business Package onto Portal -
(1) Should I just import and configure the content OR
(2) Should I import, create a copy and then configure it? If yes, are there any points to be kept in mind?
All blogs/articles that have been published show to configure the standard content.
The requirement is to maintain a different prefix/namespace for each Portal content that comes along the business package?

Are you asking about the Standard Business content provided by SAP or the Standard Business package?
Standard Business Content:
SAP has provided Std Business content with the MDM 5.5 and 7.1 MDM server.These are nothing by predelivered SAP repoitories archives for different masters like Customer,Material,Vendor,Article,Product,Employee etc.All you have to do is unarchive these rep contents on to your MDM server and then you can work with them .
The Services that they provide are:

Change in WD ABAP application available in business package

Hi Experts,
I am working on xRPM 4.5 business package. Now I need to modify WD ABAP Application. For this, I went to property of iview for find the application name. Also I found application name by right click on WD ABAP iview. I went to backend and looked for application ,after finding it tested it and saw the preview. It was totally diffrent preview what I was seeing in portal screen.
Again I checked several other iview and found that those were also using same WD ABAP application and preview is same like earlier one.but in portal all are showing different screen.
Is it beacause of configuration? if yes, how can I check it.
How can I debug that application directly from portal?

BI reports output in different formats

I have a requirement to send the Bex reports automatically to vendor in different format like (csv ,text file and tab eliminated ) is there any Reporting tool in BI where I can change the format from xls to following formats and broadcast to vendor.Please give me some tips and trick to fulfill business requirement.

Compare files in different formats but same order

Java Developers,
I have a serious problem here "Comparing two files"... in Java.
We recieve 2 emails which talk about the same thing but not in the same format. one comes from my company and the other email comes from partner company. These 2 companies have their own standards and their own codes. so their emails do not match exactly.
I should check whether the contents of these 2 files are same or not. Line by Line they r not at all same, entirely different formats as I mentioned earlier. but somewhere in between there will be same headers for eg: "Service Details" section . once u see that word in both the files then compare the fields under that section, check whether they r same or not. here also the fields are not the same, one says AB and another says '12' , I shud check whether they mean the same thing or not. We have a dictionary and a table which says AB ='12', Everyday we get around 200 sets of such matching emails. how to read them, how to process them and how to see whether they match or not.

Also look at the java.util.regex package.
Beyond that, "How do I write a program that does <complex requirements statement>?" is not an appropriate question for these forums. If you're totally stuck and don't know where to begin on that, then you're probably not qualified to do it. That's not intended as an insult, just a reality check.

SSIS project - read multiple flat files with different formats

i need to import multiple flat files with different formats into different tables of the sql server database and not able to figure out the best way out in ssis to do so...
please advise the possible methods in ssis to do so and if possible the process which can be dynamic as file names or columns might change in future.

To import flat files with dynamic columns, we can use Script Task inside a Foreach Loop Container to parse the first row of the flat file to get the columns names and save them into a .NET variable, then, we can create “Create Table” script based on this
variable, and then store the script into a SSIS package variable. After that, we create a staging table based on the package variable, load the flat file data to the staging table. Eventually, we load data from the staging table to the destination table. For

ESS Business Packages Migration from Ehp3 to Ehp4 with Custom Changes

Hello All,
We are using ECC 6.0 With Ehp3 and We have the following versions of ESS and MSS Business Packages Installed.
SAP_ESS 603 SP4
SAP_MSS 600 SP15
We have NWDI server also installed in this and made some Customizations in ESS Webdynpro Java based applications.
We have freshly installed a new portal development server with Netweaver 7.0 Ehp1 to cleanup unneccessary stuffs in our existing development portal server and pointed to the upgraded backend ECC 6.0 Ehp4.
The NWDI also installed freshly in the new server.
While upgrading, following Business Packages versions are recommended by SAP.
SAP_ESS 603 SP6
MSS 600 SP17
PCUI_GP 603 Sp 06
Now in the New portal server every applications works fine as delivered Out of the box and we are missing all the Webdynpro Java customizations which we have made as part of the Ehp3 based ESS Implementation.
We are in the process of Creating the New track in the New NW 7.0 Ehp1 server and import the .SCA files.
My Question is how can we get the automatic migration process, so that the Webdynpro Java Customizations which we have done in the Previous track in Ehp3 with different ESS SP level can be carry forwarded to our New NWDI Server.
How can we go ahead?. We are thinking of the following options and your suggestions are highly appreciated.
1. Import the .SCA files related to Ehp4 and do the Webdynpro Java changes manually again in the DCs of Newly created track    in the New NWDI server.
2. Is there a way to migrate a Track from One Server to another NWDI server with the Custom changes carry forwarded.
What are all the possible ways to achieve track migration to the new server with custom changes carry forwarded.
Appreciate your valuable inputs in this.

There is a cook book provided by SAP as attachment of note 872892. you can follow the process to have your custom DC's migrated to new Support pack of ESS/MSS.

EP 6.0 SP2 Business Package upload problems

Hi,
We have installed EP 6.0 SP2 and are trying to upload Business package for Employee self service. we have downloaded the business package from SDN (BP_ESS_4.6c.zip).. it requires that we have the file in .epa format. how do we handle this...or is there any other package to download.

   The one which we have downloaded from the sdn.sap.com is in zip format. We can't upload this zip file.
   Do we have to convert this file format.

Business Packages for ESS/MSS, HR Renewal and HR Administrator

Iam a basis consultant and had ew queries on the Business packages to be installed on our NW Portal system.
Currently we are on
Backend system          :           EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0
SAP Portal                    :           SAP NetWeaver 7.4 SR1
SAP_HR              600       0064
EA-HR                600       0064
For ESS MSS (both Generic & WDA),
1) Do we need to deploy EA-HR_MSS add-on on our backend ECC ? If yes, what would be the version ?
2) Based on the system we have, What are all Portal business packages (list) should we deploy into Portal? and sequence to follow?
we have different verions of (BP ERP05 ESS, BP ERP05 COMMON PARTS & BP ERP05 MSS ), which version has to be deployed ?
do I need mss add-on Portal business pack also??
3) Need to deploy HR Renewal and HR Administrator Business packages as well, so could you please advice what version needs to be installed ? Unable to find HR Renewal as a Business Package in the market place.
4) Any post-installation activity after importing the business packgages in portal ?

Also we need to patch our stack to the latest SP. Latest SP available in market is SP11 as we prefer n-1 we planned to go for SP10, but in MOPZ while selecting the target it gives option only for SP11 in the drop down. Any reason for it ?
As you could see our SAP-HR, EA-HR LSOFE are still in 600 release. If we select the target package in MOPZ to the latest will it upgrade the SAP_HR 600, EA-HR 600& LSOFE 600 components to SAP-HR 604, EA-HR 606, LSOFE 606 ?
If I had to install HR-Renewal 1.0 I would need EA-HR 607 and LSOFE 607, so can that be included in the same stack ?
Please advice.
