Business Package ESS/MSS

Hello folks,
I'm getting started with this package that i don't have much knowledge on it and i'd like to know about the customizations that we've inside R/3 that may be done by the IMG. Do you guys know where can i find a customization map / guide regarding these Business Packages(ESS/MSS) that i could use? I saw 2 links Employee Self-Service and Manager Self-Service in Personal Management, but i would like to have a proper documentation that could guide me.
Thanks in advance,
Andre

Hi
Go through this
Yes there are 3 sca available in Service Marketplace for ESS and MSS. The path is
service.sap.com->Software Download->SAP Application Components->SAP ERP->SAP ERP 2004->SAP XSS.
Here You can find there latest patches for ESS, MSS and PCUI_GP.
You can deploy these on your J2EE server. Then you need to create the systems in the portal and configure the JCO.
Here is the link that explains the same.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/38/e8584c2a664547b60442646bee23b6/frameset.htm
JDI is needed if you want to change the ESS Applications. You don't need to create and iViews as SAP delivers standard iViews for all of its services.
If you need any more information, let me know.
I this is useful for u rewad me... you also can get points...

  • Multiple backend systems for business package ESS/MSS

    Hi,
I would like to know whether there is a smart solution for connecting the business package ESS/MSS with multiple backend systems (up to 10 systems).
I am aware of the possibility using parameter "sap-wd-arfc-useSys", but this implies, that content needs to be duplicated n-times in order to be able to maintain the Jco destination suffix.
Any hint, also for custom built solutions are very welcome!
    Best regards,

After the Business Packages were installed, found that some  ess apps where not deployed...so manually deployed it.
    The JCO connections are OK.
Do we need to set up the backend Homepage Framework for the same......even for preview.....was thinking not.
Also, here is the error and exception that we get when we preview any ESS iview.
A critical error has occured. Processing of the service had to be terminated. Unsaved data has been lost.

  • Create iView - Portal 7.0 - Business Package ESS/MSS

    Hello guys,
Someone can tell me how to create an iView with proprieties like:
    Code Link:
    PAGE_DEPENDENCIES:
    PAR_DEPENDENCIES:
    thanks.

    This is very simple -
    For PAR files -
Make sure you deploy your custom PAR file (com.<client namespace>) to the Java engine.
    Creating iView -
In the Content Admin role in PCD - Right click on the folder and create iView by chosing option of 'Portal Component - Now choose your PAR file (if deployed correctly it would appear in this list) - Now chose the Portal Component within your PAR for which you are creating the iView.
    Create a Page -
In the Content Admin role in PCD - Right click on the folder and create Page and chose the right template (eg default page layout). After creation keep the page open. Now right click on the iView and add iView to Page via Delta Link.
    Hope this helps !

  • Business Package ESS with more than one backend

    Hi,
i need to implement a business package (ESS or MSS) two time in one portal system to access two backends. The portal landscape will completely be in the SAP standard, so we only want to implement a two system landscape (DEV and PROD) for the portal. On ERP side we have a three system landscape. So the aim is to implement the business package in the DEV portal two times and access both, the DEV and the QAS ERP system.
Are there any informations concerning this or has someone already performed this?
    It think the steps are:
    - Copy of the BP in PCD
    - New Alias for the second system and change the alias at all PCD object in the copy
    - Copy of the used JCo Destinations and adding them as a parameter to all iviews (the sap-wd-arfc-useSys=SAP_R3_HumanResourcesXYZ)
    What do you think?
    Kind regards,
    Christian

I don't think you can do that for Jco Destinations.
You might create the copies of JCo Destinations. But you might need to change the new Jco names in the standard ESS/MSS Development Components which is quite difficult..
May be you can make JCo Destinations to point to Dev initially and then change it to quality for testing

  • Problem with business packages ESS

    Hi,
    I have put in a EP6.0 SR1 a business packages ESS 50.4.

I asign the iView ESS to Rol Employee but when i go to Resum in the menu i get this error int the iView "Recording working times":
    [Method connectToSAP(SAP_R3_Cross)] java.lang.Exception: R3_CONNECTION_FAILED
I have asigned the user to system SAP_R3_Cross.
The other parts of menu run good and i get data of system R/3.
    Any idea with this error?

    Hi Vincente,
You probably need to configure CATS (ITS). Please check the following link:

  • How to unistall Business package Ess 1.0

    Hi all,
By mistake I have deleted the some of the worksets in Portal which is created when deployed the Business Package Ess 1.0 into SDM.(Employee Self-Service(role) and Personal information(workset).
Can anyone tel me how to redeploy the business package or Is there anyway to
bring back the workset deleted without deploying the SCA files.
Please can anyone help me. Its urgent please.
    Thanks
    Ponnusamy.P

    Hi Ponuswamy ,
The uninstallation of business packages are called as De-installation which for the BPs which are no more used.
<i><b> Note</b></i> during de-installation that content objects could be shared with other business packages. Before uninstalling content objects, check whether another business package uses the content objects.
Solution  is  you must De-install Business Package manually   as there is currently neither a standardized nor automated procedure for uninstalling business packages.
So delete all the worksets which have been created under ur Business Process because the lost worksets cannot be loaded without running an installation again.
The best solution would be to delete all the Business Package content and
Follow throught the complete installation once again.
The installation steps can be found if u download it from SDN in the BP manual
or this .<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/89/c84440eff00272e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">link</a> could help.
    Hope this helps u .

  • Reports available in the Business Package for MSS and ESS

    Hi,
I have searched sdn.sap.com throughout looking for a comprehensive list of reports available in the business packages for both MSS and ESS, i got a little bit of joy and found some of the MSS reports but not all on sdn.sap.com, can anyone please advise where i would find such information on both these packages, just to re-iterate, i am looking for a list of reports these business packages offer? any help much appreciated.
    Thanks
    John
P.s any documents can be sent to [email protected]

    @John
    (1) ESS- We built our own custom PORTAL role/workset in which one of the worksets we created is called "Tools and Forms". Under that workset, we placed various pages/iViews that either are simple URL iViews that link to external documents and such (like vacation request forms since they do not do online leave requests yet) as well as a couple ot t-code iViews that run reports in ECC for the employee. Nothing very mind blowing there. Just some content creation on the portal side.....oh, and some config on the backend to create a Homepage Framework Area Page and all for it (I liked that part!)
    (2) Wow....talk about perfect timing...I just had to document the way MSS sees the MDT reports in it's "reporting" area yesterday! haha Here goes the quick explaination....in configuration for MDT, you have various "scenarios". These kinda determine which "groups" of reports will show in MDT. For MSS for the Reporting webdynpro/service, the scenario is RPT0 (in ECC 5.0, at least). Soooo if you look at the function CODES assigned to RPT0, you will see several for Training and one for Accounting (Cost Centers)...you can reference the function CODES listed back to the "pool"/library of function codes a bit up/previous in the same config area for MDT(I think it is called "Define Function Codes"). However, there is one more piece you will see listed under RPT0....it is a DIRECT call to function MODULE "HR_HIS_READ" (this was a bugger to find because I could not find the "Maternity" report listed in the function codes and had to figure out where the heck it was coming from! haha). Anyways....what the function MODULE actually does is call the HR Information System (HIS) passing it the RPT0/MSS scenario. This returns the particular reports for Employee Data and Time&Attendance. You can see this if you run the HR_HIS_READ function directly and enter RPT0 for the second input value (first and third are not needed or you can just enter "*". Sooooo that is how the "magic" happens. Hope that explained it. From there, you can simply config you own scenario/reports to add into MSS if you like.
    Hope this helped!

  • Error on ESS/MSS WebDynPros

    Hi
We are struggling with ess/mss. Portal is ep6sp9 WAS640. Business packages (ess/mss )have been deployed in the portal and the ess50/mss50/pcui_gp50 components were deployed on WAS.
The SLD SERVER on the portal pc. The WAS is set to upload its sld information to the portal sld.
JCO connections(SAP r/3 HumanResources & SAP r/3 HumanResources Metadata) are on WAS and it tests successfully.
    1. Is this the recommended architecture/landscape or should the ess mss pcuigp components be deployed on the portal?
    2. Should we upgrade the ess/mss/pcuigp components to 5.1 or 6.0?
    3. We get an error on the ess/mss webdynpros :
    WDTypeNotFoundException caused by sap.dictionary.
    4. When we use the ess/mss/pcuigp 6.0 version, we get a WDRuntimeException caused by 'There is no such method'.

  • ESS/MSS business packages "Deployed with Warning"

    Hello All,
We are on NW04s SP10 on MS SQL server and Windows server. The Database and portal installations or on different machines. I installed the business packages ESS 1.0, MSS 1.0 and the XSS components - 600 using the JSPM.
After I deploy, I get the message<b> "Deployed with Warning"</b>
When I opened the log files and checked for errors, I found errors in deployment on these SDAs

Now, after this, when I log into the portal and see the MSS role, the links are all missing. I see only Overview and its worksets and pages and Reports and its worksets. Everything else is missing. The warning that I see is<b> "Linked object is unavailable"</b>
Could anyone please suggest me what could be wrong?
    Thanks,
    Sunitha<b></b>

    Hi Sunitha,
First of all I was not able to find if your backend is ERP 2004 or ERP 2005. It should be ERP 2005 if you want to user ESS 1.0 and MSS 1.0 BP
Please check in Content Administrator if you can locate these applications and test the same. If yes then you can ignore this warning. If No, in that case you have to redeploy XSS, ESS and MSS using SDM again.
The links in portal comes from your backend Area Page Customizing. To verify if the problem is with your Portal Business Package or with your backend customizing run your ESS applications using
    http://<portal>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenuArea?sap.xss.menuhdr=SAPDEFAULT&sap.xss.menuargrp=SAPDEFAULTESS
    and MSS using
    http://<portal>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenuArea?sap.xss.menuhdr=SAPDEFAULT&sap.xss.menuargrp=SAPDEFAULTMSS
If you can see all the links correctly here, your backend customization is fine and there is a problem with your BP of ESS and MSS. So you will have to import the same again in the portal. However if you are not able to view the links in the page, then there is a problem with you Area Page Customization. You will need to check your config with the Client 000 configuration to find out the missing config.
    Hope this helps.

    Shubham
