Business Packages in Portal

Hi,
How can we find out what applications are deployed in the portal?
By applciations we want to know what Business packages are installed since the customer applications are already known to us.
We can see the list of deployed applications in SDM but how can we differentiate the business packages or other applications, that do not come with standard portal installation, from the standard ones.

Hello Uma,
You can find the deatils abt all the BPs installed in the portal from the following URL: http://<host name>:<port>/sap/monitoring/ComponentInfo
The Business Package will start with Component Name BP_*.
Inside the portal you can find the installed components Under Portal Content -> Content Provide by SAP.

If it is a restricted shipment you will have problems downloading this business package.
Instead you can download this from the Marketplace.
You can give
Business Package for mySAP CRM - Business Productivity Pack 60.1
in the search option of Service Market Place

Currently i am working on Portal 7.01 and with back end ECC 6 Ehp 4. And we are using Business packages

We have a newly installed Portal 7.3 without any Business Packages installed in it.
My Questions are,
1. If i go with same backend ECC 6 Ehp 4 with Portal 7.3, than what are all the BP's that i have to deploy?
2. Can i go with same Business packages   those i am using currently with Portal 7.01?
3. How to migrate my ESS and MSS apps (customized apps NWDI )from Portal 7.01 to 7.3
4. in future if we upgarde our backend to EHP 5 than what happens to WD java Application. i come to know that ESS application are totally built on WD ABAP for EHP5
Please help me out to determine the correct Business packages for my requirement.

BP's depends upon what all functionality you want to use. e.g If you are using ESS/MSS then you need to deploy BP's for ESS/MSS.

You should install latest version of BP's on NW 7.3 like for ESS/MSS latest version is 1.51.

You need to migrate all these customization manually as PAR files are not more supported for NW 7.3.

It depends upon you. If you want to use ESS/MSS for web dynpro ABAP then you need to install BP of ESS for web dynpro ABAP but if you don't want to use web dynpro then you can use same way as you are doing currently.

Hi,
You can remove the BP, Log on onto the portal as administrator
Go to Content Administration > Portal Content
Open the folder Portal Content > Content administrator-> portal content.
and also remove PCD objects and any par files.

ICSS - Internet Customer Self Service.Role customer has related ivews.That doesn't require IC webclient.
If you need interaction center ie customer support or call center there are two roles available for that.
Interaction center agen and interaction center administrator.

MDM iView problem from Business Package in Portals SR1

Hi,
I installed MDM Business Package 3.0 in Enterprise Portals 6.0 SR1. When i execute the iView in Portals, its asking me to download the security file. When i change the iView property from WebGUi to WinGui, its working properly.
Did anyone faced the same problem.

please turn off the Accessibility option in your portal personalization options (upper right corner, Personalize -> User Profile -> Activate Accessibility Features:
(Screen reader required) -> turn it off.
Does it work now as expected ?

Importing Portal Business packages

Hi,
I am trying to import Business packages through
System Administration->Transport Packages->Import.
While downloading the packages, I have received as *.SCA from service market place. But in portal, it is accepting only *.EPA files.
How can I upload these business packages through portal?

Hello Mohan,
If you are using NW2004s you can also use JSPM to install business packages. It takes care of the sequence of installation as well.
All you need to do is copy these sca or all the installation files into the directory : \usr\sap\trans\EPS\in
Then go to : usr\sap\TES\DVEBMGS01\j2ee\JSPM folder under j2ee. and start the tool. It is fast too.

Unable to open Document from Asset Business Package

We have installed Asset Business Package in portal. Almost everything is working fine. But when we try to open a document (PDF ) attached to an asset by clicking the document link in the page, a new browser window opens with a text inside. The PDF does not appear.
The text is actually a URL. If we copy this and paste in any browser window, it opens the actual document.
e.g. when we click the document link, the browser opens with the following text written inside it -

Best Practice to implement Business Packages

Hello All,
Need some clarification -
What is the best practice to implement ESS/MSS Business Package onto Portal -
(1) Should I just import and configure the content OR
(2) Should I import, create a copy and then configure it? If yes, are there any points to be kept in mind?
All blogs/articles that have been published show to configure the standard content.
The requirement is to maintain a different prefix/namespace for each Portal content that comes along the business package?

Hi Paul,
I also build my own roles. The only time I might use the standard roles is for demo purposes early in a project. You will find that in some cases the business packages like MSS don't always even include standard roles, so you have no choice but to build.
I never change any of the standard iViews/Pages/Worksets - ever.
The most contentious issue seems to be whether to do a full or delta link copy of the standard objects. I tend to initially do a full copy of the objects into a custom folder set in the PCD and modify those. Then I only use delta links from Page to iViews where I need the option of setting different properties for the same iView if it appears in multiple pages. Delta links can be a bit flakey at times, so I tend to only use them where I have to. I suspect that I may get to a point where I don't use them at all.

MDM 7.1 Business Package -- Item Details iView eventing

We are using MDM 7.1 Business package in portal. We have requirement where we need to make the fields clickable /mouse over on the item details iView so that when the user clicks/mouse over on the field it should popsup a custom webdynpro application. I was checking the business package documentation and it seems there is only one epcf event for post save which can trigger custom webdynpro when user clicks save button but nothing else on field levels. Can anybody shed some light on this. Any other approach other than custom development of whole details view?

ESS business package Deployment Error

Hi every body,
I am on Netweaver/SAP Enterprise Portal 7.0 SPstack12 and ERP 6.0, I want to deploy ESS business packages in portal for that i downloaded the following SCA files
BPERP5ESS12_0-10003288.SCA
SAPESS12_0-20000512.SCA
SAPPCUIGP12_0-20001215.SCA
when i tried to deploy in to AS JAVA (J2EE Engine of portal ), it successfully deployed SAPPCUIGP12_0-20001215.SCA and BPERP5ESS12_0-10003288.SCA . But when it is deploying SAPESS12_0-20000512.SCA file its throwing the following Error.
If any body phased the same problem and get resolved, please help me. Encouraging points will be given for useful posting.

Hi ,
ESS files to be deployed do not generally have the sampe SP level as that of Portal.
So if for portal if you have SP12
You might need to deploy ESS SP10 files and not ESS SP12 files.

and i have a question, once the business package is installed on the portal, the respective roles and the iviews will appear in the specialist folder? or we have to do something from portal end?

Below are the steps for implementing BP in portal,
1.     Derive the right business packages from System landscape study and analysis
2.     Download the business package and the supporting components from Service market place through SolMan
3.     Deploy the downloaded packages into portal through SDM (Software Deployment Manager)
4.     Configure SLD(System Landscape Directory) and JCo (Java Connector)
5.     Create Portal System Object for backend connection
6.     Configure the Backend system
7.     Configure and Customize the portal contents
Once you deployed the business package into portal, the portal contents such as iViewss, Pages, roles etc will appear under content admin -> portal content -> content provided by SAP folder.
Just serch in SDN for the suitable documentation.
