Business Process Monitoring - Dialog Performance Monitoring

Hello all,
I'm using BPM in order to monitor my project's most critical processes. In this part of the process we have some transactions that are executed online.
What is the best monitor to use in this case?
I'm using Other CCMS monitor, but the problem with that is that I have to create one monitor per application server.
I'm aware that I can use Dialog Performance itself, but the problem is that when I receive an e-mail notification there's no information regarding the transaction (is there any way to customize this e-mail?)
And also, I could use Application Monitor, but I really don't know the difference between them.
Thanks in advance and BR,
Lucas

Hello Lucas,
I thought I explained the difference between the two monitors in great lenght. Only the Application Monitor allows you to configure monitoring across all applications servers centrally in one step. But then you don't have the measurement per instance.
I don't understnad why you would like to have some information about users. You don't want to monitor single users do you? You measure averages across all users.
Theoretically we could develop something that would allow the one time configuration across all application instances and nevertheless you get all details for the individual instance. But this would be a customer-specific development as part of the MaxAttention contract.
Best Regards
Volker

Check if you have all the join conditions that you could specify in the view definition. The FM code is fairly standard.
To do similar test, do an SE16 on your view, on the selection screen remove no of records (200 or 500 whatever it is) to select all records, and execute. Check how long it takes to show you the records from the view. If it is similar to what your FM is taking, there is not much problem with your FM. You will need to check the view definition, and/or, provide more selection values while executing it.

  • Business Process Monitoring - Modification of the standard alert mechnisms

    Hi All,
Am using Solution Manager 7.0 BPMON and the alert mechanisms used is the email notification from BPM_NOTIF.
Would like to know if the email format can be modified Some e.g of the modification which I am looking at
    1) The subject as of now is the standard the Solution name. Can the sbuject be modified to suit what kind of alert this is.
    2) In the body there a couple of details which may not be used and some other details may need to be added for e.g for a dialog performance monitor the user  id which has hit the threshold is not visible in the alert hence can this be added to the email alert?
    Thanks.
    Rgds,
    Letchu

    Hello,
with ST400 SPS23 and hence ST-SER 701_2010_1 it is directly possible to influence subject and body of an email in BPMon. Additionally you can use other BAdIs to further enrich your notifications or trigger "real" auto-reactions. Please refer to the following SDN blog /people/johannes.fleig/blog/2010/06/02/create-your-own-auto-reaction-messages-in-business-process-monitoring-via-badi-exit

  • ICWebClient Performance Monitoring

    Hi Colleagues,
I'm searching for information on ICWebClient performance monitoring.
Anyone can tell me what tools we could use? Is there any "monitoring alert" in Solman BPM?
We are particulary interested in monitoring of ERP Sales Order performance.
I'm posting a similar thread in SAP Solution Manager forum.
    Regards,
    Renato Petrulis

    Hi Renato
I think even ICWebClient, it request process request
to backend(abap) system. And in STAD of backend system,
    it has performance record.
In BPMon, there is a dialog performance monitor (in the
application monitor). So if you use it, you can specify
http request. So by using it, I think you can monitor
    the operation.
Technical name of dialog performance monitor in
application monitoring is "BOPERFMO" that you can see in BPMon
    session.
(there are some indication in sap note 1146544.
It is bug fix note, but in its description it describe IC web client.
    So it can be possible)
    best regards

  • Performance Monitor MMC crashes

Ever since we patched our servers up to MS14-016, when we open Performance Monitor and click on Data Collector Sets > System the MMC hangs and eventually crashes.  All other functions of the Performance Monitor work just fine (ie. Monitoring Tools
    > Performance Monitor, Data Collector Sets > User Defined, Data Collector Sets > Event Trace Settings, etc etc...).  Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.  Looking at the event logs, all that is logged after the crash is:
The program mmc.exe version 6.1.7600.16385 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

  • Performance Monitor :SOAPtoSOAP using AAE

I'm trying to monitor the performance of SOAPtoSOAP using Advanced Adapter Engine.
(The environment is NW PI7.1 SPS7)
When I sent message to SOAP adapter from RWB,I could monitor the process and check the time(in second) from Message Monitor in RWB.
However, when the process is completed within one second, I don't know how long it took.
I also tried to check the process time from Performance Monitor in RWB, but it does not show any processes using AAE.
Does anyone know how to check the process time (SOAPtoSOAP using AAE) in milli-second?

Your programming sequence for the performance monitor for DMA transfers looks alright.
I think a similar set-up was done in the XAPP1205 to measure the dma performance. Can you check?

  • Performance Monitor Installation

Space is limited in our environment. Couldn't we just configure the performance monitoring tables in a Development Environment? Instead of creating PSSYS Sytem database?

this is from the documentation that I have for PeopleTools 8.48 Peformance Monitor
    Setup for The Monitored System
    Performance Monitor Element Description
Server process agents One agent exists for each of the following server processes
running within an application server domain:
    • PSAPPSRV
    • PSQCKSRV
    • PSQRYSRV
    • PSMONITORSRV
    • PSSAMSRV
    • PSANALYTICSRV
For example, The Monitored System would be Production. The Monitoring System would be PFSYS. Once you enable • PSANALYTICSRV on the Application Server for Production, The PS Browser Navigation becomes extremely slow within Financials. Once I turn off the • PSANALYTICSRV within the Application Server, Navigation returns to normal. I tried this on both a Financials and HR/Payroll Environment to see if the users would be impacted by slow performance when they are navigating. There is definitely an unacceptable decline in performance.
To collect data from a Production environment if I didn't have to turn on • PSANALYTICSRV within the Monitored Application Server, then the performance would probably be acceptable. I don't know if this server process has to be enabled. If it doesn't, then I can move on to try and get Performance Monitor working. I stopped due to the performance problem.
    Thanks for your quick responses.

  • Business Process Monitoring - Monitoring Types Nodes missing

I am making the setup of the Business Process Monitoring. I have created a scenario, a process and a step. Bui I have a big problem I am not able to solve: when I select a monitoring type for the step I have created (e.g. Application Monitor, Background job, Dialog Performance etc), I know that a subnode should appear under the step node but in my case this does not happen and I am not able to configure the monitoring type (No subnode appears under the step node even if I select all the monitoring types).
Someone knows which is the problem? Is there some missing configuration or it could be a Support Package problem.
I will appreciate your help so much. Please, do not esitate to contact me for any further clarification.
    Thanks
    Antonello

    Hi,
in the workflow definition you can suppress the node to be listed in the Monitoring. Check the the relevant nodes please.

  • Business process (Integration) monitoring - Solution Manager?

    Hi Experts
I have a requirement here for business process monitoring at my client. The client wants to have a solution for monitoring of few key business processes for example incoming orders. The flow data flow is as follows: third party system -> AS2 -> XI1 ->XI2 -> MQ->ERP. Ideally, all the incoming messages should be processed within 3 minutes of sending by thirdy party system. The basic requirement from business to have a view of the number of messages sent by the external system and numbers of orders created in the system and if there is any message with processing time of more than 3 minutes, it should be reported. Also, if there is any failure in any of the points of failure - the reason of failure needs to be reported
I am thinking of using solution mnaager diagnostics and willy introscope for collecting data from XI Adapter framweork and Integration engine and the ERP system.
    My queries -
Can solution manager fetch the data from non SAP system - AS2 service/MQ etc? if yes, how?
The solution i am thinking of - is it good one or is there any better solution - light weight/performance efficient?
In case i go ahead with the approach mentioned above, would there be an extra licensing cost for installing SMD agents and Willy on different applications?
Can we do a simple reporting i ERP system by fetching data from XI1 & XI2 systems? I understand that it wouldnt give us any details of the Java components or non SAP applications, but keeping in mind the limitations, is it a viable solution?
    Any inputs would be great.
    Regards

    HI Ethan,
I'm not sure about the BPMon framework in Sol MAn 7.0 if it can be used with PI or not. I remember from teched that the end-to-end monitoring for PI was available only in 7.1 and with SAP PI 711.
From what I know wily gives you information about the status on the system (CPU, memory consumption etc) and not about the message flow so you can still use it but for the technical monitoring set up.
Also in teched I have participated at a hands-on workshop (ALM361 [http://www.sapteched.com/emea/edu_sessions/session.htm?id=542]) where we enabled the BPMon framework to use webservices provided by a non-sap application.
    Hope this helps.

If if want just to monitor various technologies, lets say BizTalk, then there are lot of tools available for this. BizTalk 360 and SCOM are two main tools.
similarly if you want to monitor SAP- like availbility of SAP services/URLS/Databases etc, then HP OpenView can be one option.
However, if you just want to make sure your business process ( integrated BizTalk/SAP..etc) are up and running then you could write some Automated Smoke test scripts, which will perform some basic testing and make sure all components are up and running.
    Hope this helps.

  • Information on Business Process Monitoring

    Hello experts,
I want to know if there is a way to monitor spool jobs in business process monitoring or other tool? I assume that I can monitor background jobs with BPMon but I don't find where I can monitor the content of the spool generated by the job?
I read also that job management can monitor jobs, but for the task "monitoring", it refers to BPMon.
Can you please tell me if I can do it? because I read in some doc that it is possible but no way to find how.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    BR,
    Mohamed BOUSSAID

    Hello Mohamed,
the job monitoring does not allow the monitoring of a spool file as it is an unstructured TemSe file. If you have important information to monitor you should write it into the job log and classify it via message class, message type and message number. Such structured information can be easily monitored via BPMon.
Monitoring the content of a unstrucutred spool file which can easily get several MB is too performance expensive and hence not supported.

  • Creating Custom Monitors in Business Process Monitoring

    Hi all,
I have configured business process monitoring in our Solution Manage EP1 box for our Production ECC5 server. The standard monitoring types such as Application Monitor, Due List, Background Job Monitor and their corresponding monitors work OK, but my question is how can I create my own monitor?
For example, under Application Monitor type, there is a monitor  named PM/CS Orders which has some things like Orders in phase released and Orders in state created etc, but what I need is to report on PM Order if the order did not get Technically completed 3 hours after the last operation was completed, for example.
Is there a way to do that?
    Thank you,
    Sergiy

    Hi Sergiy
As you may realized, application monitoring objects are predefined.
And its check is basically conducted day basis.
In the coding it check like, basic finish date or planned finish date,
delivery date etc. (So, not detail level check like operation completion date).
This is because (off course it also depend on the data volume),
basically the data collection frequency of application monitor is
expected not too often. Since data collector publish SQL,
if you have many data and configured to collect data quiet heavily,
it can affect system performance of satellite system.
so normally to check the backlog from previous day or more longer period,
it is expected. Thus once a day or twice a day is normally expected for
data collection(Off course, if data volume is not large, little bit more
    frequency might be possible).
so daily check is considered as reasonable for application monitor.
    (TBI:through put and backlog indicator)
If you really want to enable your requirement, as you are looking for
you need custom exit. And it enables your requirement.
In this case, you need to define customize in satellite system
through the program /SSA/EXM and you need to define your coding
that fit with your customize and requirement in the program
    Z_BPM_ECU_COLLECTOR.
There is a document how to develop custom exit of bpmon in service
market place. So I recommend you to check the document at first.
    http://service.sap.com/bpm
    =>Technical document
    ==>Setup Guide - Customer Exit
also, there are past forum posting like following.
Re: BPMon - User exit monitoring
but first, please consider standard monitoring object can be used somehow.
