Dear Shabnum
Do you think your question is easy to answer.
If you are working in any of these industries, let us know where exactly your problem is, so that somebody would try to answer.
If we take an example for automobile process, client to client the process will vary and it cannot be listed out here.

  • Business Process for Paper Industry

    Dear all
I have done a business process study for a paper industry.Where they have different varieties of paper which has different variants GSM,BF- Bursting Factor,Shade & Width.
Generally the customer orders are grouped to match the Dekle size(Paper Width) and the manufacturing program is designed manually according to the width of the paper. After production the goods are despatched to corresponding customers.
They have a power plant to produce Power & by product steam .The Power generated is used for home consumption as well as they do sell the power.
Can anybody suggest me a good process to map the power plant and Paper plant.
Expecting your suggestions for Planning the manufacturing according to width wise and production execution for different customer orders.

    Hi,
For the Paper Industry, IS-Mill will be best suited.
All your Scenarios will be covered with this.
Depending upon your Width: You can combile your Sales Order/Production Orders (Order Combination)
The Big Bundle of PAper which you get at the end of the process you can have the Original Batch concept.
Your settlement will be as per your Sales Order quantity.
For better understanding of the processes refer below link:

  • "Cleaning Validation Process Scenario" in SAP QM/PM for Pharma Industry

    Dear Gurus,
I have a client requirement in the Pharma Industry. The scenario needs to be mapped in SAP for which I need your help.
The scenario is that the company is making medicines (tablets/capsules). Whenever, there is a changeover of the product, there are certain regulatory requirements which the client needs to adhere to.
For example, a shutdown of machinery for 10-12 days may be planned during which the machines are cleaned with soap/cleaning agents. Now, during this cleaning process, the QA department would take samples of the soap water recovered after cleaning process. These samples would be inspected for residues of the previous product that was being run on the line.
If everything is ok, then the approval is given by QA to start the next product.
This process has to be mapped in SAP, maybe in QM or PM.
I thought over the following process. Please let me know your inputs to fine tune the below process -
    1. As the shutdown for changeover will be a planned one, we can create a Maintenance Plan in IP42.
    2. Schedule the Mantenance Plan by IP10.
    3. Release the maintenance plan in IP10.
    4. Preventive Maintenance order will be created. (Also assign an Inspection Type in config to this maintenance order so that inspection lot also is triggered. The doubt here is that the inspection lot would be triggered for all preventive maintenance orders which may not be required. How to control this?)
    5. Carry out Result Recording in QA32.
    6. Confirm Preventive Maintenance order in IW41.
    7. Carry out Usage Decision in QA32. The status of order will now become TECO.
    8. Order Settlement in KO88.
    9. Business Completion of Order in IW32
    Thanks for you time!
    Regards,
    Nitin

    Your ASIS Process
    1. Cleaning is done by maintenance before change over
    2. Inspection is done to ensure that cleaning is acceptable
    3. Records of inspection are to be maintained
    4. Information is to be sent to concern regarding  quality testing  and its status
    5. Change over performed
You can MAP this by Notifications also. Follow the steps
    1. Create a new notification type ( config)
    2. Ensure you have following mapped in the action box (config)
        a. Send a mail
        b. Create a inspection lot
        c. Create a QM order
        d. Close Notification
The process will be as follows
    1. Create a dummy material and activate insp type 08 in the QM set up.
    2. PM creates the notification (t-code QM01) (New notification & triggers a mail (Action box) which is delivered to QC as information regarding the start of process .
    3. QC on looking at the information creates the inspection lot through the notification (action box) the QTY specified in the notification is moved from unrestricted to Quality .
    3. Perform  RR & UD and post stock  to unrestricted
    4. Close the notification giving your remarks or set the notification for further processing if required .
    Note :
    1. The material is a dummy material
    2. The intial stock can be one qty which is posted to quality -
from unrestricted and then again to unrestricted.

    Hi,
For multiple samples we can use no of sample(SAmpling Procedure) to record more than one results and system will calculate the arithmetic mean of all results of all sample
For this we have to maintain control indicator of MIC . Single result radio button will enable us to record results based on the number of sample defined in sampling procedure
And if you have requirement like different target values at different level,
Then you can configure inpection point -
SPRO > Quality Management > Quality Planning > Inspection Planning > General > Define Identifier for Inspection Points
in this Field act - 2 and give description

  • Pharma business process in sap

    Hi friends,
Can any one explain about "pharma business process in sap" and , how it works in sap.
    bye
    raju

    hi
normally a pharmaceutical companies have multiple division plants c&f's.
all the drugs medicines which are manufactured will be sent to warehouses and from their to various sales offices or C&F's.
from these C&F's the goods will be sent to distribution channels like wholesales or hospitals depends on the business process.
companies have to send promotional materials and samples to its sales officers.

  • Business Process Of Steel Industry

    Hi Gurus,
Could any one explain me th Business Process of Steel Industry in detail please.
                  I will award points.
    With Regards
    Saeed Arif

    hi,
    The process will be:
If you want the material you wanna get from the vendor for the manufacting of the steel, then you can go for RFQ(request for quotations)...based on the Bids you can choose the vendor and then make the PO for the raw material...
The material which you want to procure shd have the MMR(Material master record) and for the vendor(Vendor master record)...
If you don't wanna go for the RFQ, then can also directly make a PR(Purchase requisition) and based on it you can make th PO...
Now After the PO, you can get the material and then you do goods receipt and then you pay to vendor via MIRO Invoice receipt...
This is a simple procurement process...
There could be few scnerios for the getting the finished product from the subcontractor and giving him the semi-fininshed productor...
SO here you use the subcontracting process also in the steel industry...
As the steel industry is a big industry and all the process can't compleated in the single location...SO for this you use the stock transfer/transfer posting scnerios...
For daily material req., instead of making the different Po via han, use can use the MRP process by which you can directly generate the PR//PO doc as per requirement get generated for the material...
like this there are n number of process which can be used in the steel industry also...

  • Business Process for Casting Iron industry

    Hi All,
We are going for a implementation for a casting iron industry... can you please let me know what will be the business process required for such industry.
    Thanking you all in advance
    Rgds
    Toshniwal

    Hi there,
The BUSINESS process should be determined and explained by the business - this is the purpose of the blueprint.
In the blueprint phase you will build-up an inventory of all the business processes from your client (AS-IS) you can then map them to SAP processes and these become the TO-BE processes.
As to perhaps SAP solution, your project manager should know what industry solution (if any) is being implemented.
I would imagine that for this industry you would implement FI, CO-PA, PP, MM and SD - at least.

  • Business Process for Cement Industry

    I am new to SAP
I just graduated from college, now I work in a cement company
The company uses SAP, I was placed in the department of business processes
Without going through the training process, I was asked to understand the business processes in SAP that they use. They gave me access to the development server.
But it's still hard for me to understand the business process.
Can anyone help me? from where I had to start
    I apologize if any mistakes...
    Thanks..

    Hi
That is ot correct to udnerstand the business process from SAP. it is difficult.
your company needs to provide the existing Business Process scenarios and how are they mapped to SAP with all scenarios documentation. Then, it would become easy for understand and digest and take care of issues.

  • Please help me on Business Processes

    Hi friends
Actually i am new to SRM.
i want to know the example of business process for pharmaceutical industry, chemical industry and automobile industry i.e i just want to know what will be the client requirements and how to fullfil the client requirements and what are not possible in SAP.
    Please help me out
    Regards
    Krishna V

All the three verticals you have mentioned
    Pharma, Chemical and automotive
    are periodic manufacturing industries.
and would procure periodically from suppliers.
so the biggest pain area would be scheduling of this procurement.
This is facilitated in "Plan driven procurement- Supplier Integration" business scenario of SRM.
No doubt these industries can get benifit from the other capabilities of SRM like
Self service procurement - For day to day requisitioning by employees
Service procurement - For procuring diff services like cleaning, consulting, catering etc.
PDP plant maintainance - For ECC and other system requisitions
Sourcing - For Bidding and auction purpose to get competitive benifits from vendors
Spend analysis - for management and other reporting needs
    this will be client specifc

  • CTM or optimizer in Pharma Industry

    Dear Gurus,
Is CTM or Optimizer usually used in Pharma industry? I understand the reasons behind the selection of SNP solution that if you just need a simple supply planning with capacity levelling, you go for Heuristics, if you need rule based go for CTM and if you need cost optimization, you go for Optimizer.
In your experience, does Pharma industries go for CTM or optimizer? While I understand it's specific to the business model , does the Pharma industry process support the CTM or Optimizer?
    Thanks.

    Visu,
I shall put forth a different argument based on my experience with one of the pharma company mentioned by Ken and another that is not listed in the discussion so far.
According to my experience Pharma industry is more of Supply-driven rather than Demand-driven.
As a result PPDS pretty much is the most important planning engine where long-term sequence of orders are carried out. Campaign-based planing is pretty much a mandatory requirement in case of API / Active Ingredient manufacturing. To start with SNP is not capable of doing Campaign-based planning. So it does not matter if its CTM or Optimiser. Frankly speaking I find Heuristic much easier to understand and handle.
One Golbal Pharma major uses SNP for long-term planning (that too heuristic) basically to pass the demand from the markets all the way to the API manufacturing plants. Then PPDS is run for a shorter horizon depending on the product level. For APIs the PPDS plan is almost 1 year out - because when you are doing campaign planning each campaign (for a particular API) typically lasts 2-3 months. That means if on a manufacturing line (a complex series of pressure vessels and piping) you need to manufacturing 4 different APIs you will make the same API after 1 year (3 months per campaig x 4 APIs). For Semi-finished products (like forming the tablets) the production process is faster and hence PPDS planning is not done for 1 year out but maybe upto 6 months. As for the final finish and packing lines each Production Run lasts for few days and hence te PPDS plan is say upto 3 months only. Now given these different production levels you need to maintain master data parameters suitably to match PPDS and SNP planning runs.
This client did not use SNP Optimiser or CTM engine in their planning when I was working. Even now I they are not using these engines.
On the other hand another Indian Pharma major started off APO implementation using SNP especially CTM engine and over a period of time as they rolled out more and more of Production Planning at the plants they realised CTM is not serving the purpose. As far as I know they were in process of switching over to PPDS for the production planning and keep CTM only close to the demand side i.e. the Distribution Centers.
    Hope this helps.
    Somnath
