Business rule export issue
Hi all,
I created a business rule in calculation manager. Now I want to have this one in my EAS console.
I try to export my business rule from calculation manager, but when I click export some window appears and immediately disappears. So I can't do export.
What it could be? Is there any else way to export business rule to EAS Console?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
I did'nt faced any issues wile exporting using the LCM. This is actualy the best methods of exporting and importing the BRs form different environments.
You can also try exporting na dimporting the BRs from EAS console.
I dont you how you are doing it, it is hjust about selecting the artifacts take an export and import from the file system.
It is ok to copy paste if you have a few rules to export, but if you have many, then try to use one of the approach that the product provides.
Thanks,
Sourabh

Hi, I met some problems in business rules import.
1. The buisness rules import cannot be overwritten, everytime when I deployed a rule to a new environment, I need to delete the old one first. Can I do some setting to enable overwriting?
2. When the rule contains a character ">", the export xml will add a special character like "space" after it. Sometimes caused the rules failed after the deployment. Seems it is a bug.
3. When the rule has the property "hide" for some run-time prompts, sometimes it will lose after the import, is it also a bug or any workaround?
If any good suggestion or experience for the above problems? ThanksHi,
It would be helpful to others if you say which version/patch you are using.
To answer number 1, that has always been a feature of business, you don't get the option to overwrite, its always been a pain.
I have not come across issue 2 and I am sure I have imported many rules with the cross dimensional operator in them ->

We turn on audit for business rule in both classic and EPMA planning apps. EPMA version is the same class app migrated. I checked the audit record after launching a business rule in both classic and EPMA version. In classic, the rule has type of Business Rule and New_val as the name of the rule. However in EPMA version, the rule has a type of Calc Script and New_val as the first several SET commands in the script. Why the EPMA version behave this way?

Business Rule Export Not Complete
I have a situation where I am exporting business rules and the codeblock of a few business rules are not included. If I look at the XML, the business rule is there, the name, description, ect, but the node that should have the actual code is either empty or not there. Has anybody experienced this before? We have cycled the services to clean the cache. There aren't any special characters that I would expect to break the xml. We don't get any errors during the export. Anybody ever had this issue?
Try the following
Option 1
EAS console provide the functionality to migrate (rather than export to file) a repository from a source environment to a target environment by direct RDBMS connection.
Refer to page 97 of the HBR administrator guide:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/hbradmin.pdf
Option 2
Increase the heap size of the EAS console via the "admincon.lax" file found under Hyperion\AnalyticAdministrationServices\console\bin
The parameter to change is: "-Xmx256M" in the "LAX.NL.JAVA.LAUNCHER.MAIN.METHOD" section of the file.
You can increase it to a maximum of "-Xmx1024M"
Hope this helps.

Business Rule Running issue??
I am having all the BR's in my webform Run on Save
When the rule runs on save, the rule is taking a lot of time to complete and may it is cretaing loops, may be since there are more than one rule.
And if I run that rule by double clicking the rule on the same webform it gets completed in 30-40 seconds.
I don't know what could be the issue
I don't think there is a problem in my rule because that rule runs quickly by double clicking it.
Please help!!
Recenltl I also got error opening Planning
The eror says:
Failure to connect to the Apache Bridge
No Backend server available for connention.
ThanksYou could look into setting business rules to run in the background after a set time period, this may help issues with timeouts on the web server.
Have a look at :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/hp_admin/ch02s07s05.html

Hi,
We have our system on 9.3.0.1 and I am currently facing a strange issue.
I have a set of rules that I have added to an existing sequence. Now I want these rules to execute in an order and I have set the order in the sequence. However when I save, close and open the sequence again, it randomly changes the order.
Has anyone seen this issue before?
Regards,
AmolHi,
Well firstly the version 9.3.0.1 isn't a very stable one. So if you are working on 9.3.1 or above then I don't think it should affect you. Also what I noticed was that as long as the total number of business rules in the sequence were less than 10 then it wouldn't cause the issue.
Hope it helps.

Hello,
Currently I am seeing end users intermittently having issues on Business Rules. THe problem is that the description/prompt strings do not display when a user launches a rule. This seems to occur in both SmartView and IE8.
Has anyone experienced this sort of issue before ?
Cheers
ChrisI had some weird issues where the pop-up wasn't actually being displayed on the monitor, but it was opening (I think it was actually on 11.1.1.3). We found this out by someone experiencing the problem, and then adding a second monitor for another purpose and the box would show up on the second monitor. We ended up deleting the Excel items in the registry, and when Excel is reopened it rebuilt them and the popup worked, another option would have been to add a second monitor temporarily to move it back to the main monitor.

Hi,
I have newly set up few business rules in 9.3.1. I have two issues here.
1. No users listed :In Access Privileges tab, when I click on 'Add' to assign access to a user on this BR, there is only one user i.e admin(Internal) and no other users listed. But in Groups, there are groups listed and I have assigned access to those groups on this BR.
2. Users can not view BRs in planning web : Although I have assigned access to available groups, the users in those groups can not see this business rule in planning web.
Note : Even though I login to planning web as admin, I can not see BRs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

LCM Business Rules Export using Utility.bat
Hi All,
Wondering if anyone has any tips on using Utility.bat to export business rules. I've defined a migration for business rules but it only exports one Business Rule to xml. When executing the same migration definition from Shared Services, the business rules get exported to XML fine.
We're running Planning 11.1.2.1.600.2.
Thanks,
RyanHello Ryan,
Want to Export BR of ESSBASE (or) from Calc manager .
If Calc manager then first select all the Calc manager related artifacts through migration definition, after you get the export XML file ,Create a import migration XML file .
Now try to use Utility.cmd and place the files in Utility.cmd folder only and import all calc rules . -
We have been unable to access the business rules in out QC environment for a while. When you try to expand on them in EAS we get the error
Error logging in to Business Rules. The repository has not been configured or you are not authorized to use Business Rules.
Our dba recently upgraded the SQL server to a new machine and thought everything was ok. I just noticed in Shared Services that it still shows the old SQL server name in there. So how do we point it to the new SQL server?I thought that would take care of it but we got this error:

I'm using the instructions from the following thread, Re: Steps to migrate Hyperion Planning application from 9.2.0 to new 9.3.1 env to copy a Planning application from version 9.2.0.2 to 9.3.1. There is a reference in these instructions to export the business rules using Administration Services. I only see options for Business Rules to either copy or export to shared services in the 9.2.0.2 version of the AAS Console. Which one of these options should I use or is there someplace else I should look to export the business rules.
Thanks,
TomYes, the user Id. is an admin for business rules. It may be a configuration issue. I get the following message when I try to click on a rule under Business Rules in Shared Services.
Refer to your Admin Guide to configure security privileges for this application.
I get this message in both the 9.2.0.2 environment and 9.3.1 environment. The user is an admin for Business Rules in the 9.3.1 environment also.
The application does not use forms which I beleive is what Business Rules are used for. Not sure if they are used for anything else. Is it safe that I can ignore the business rules in the 9.3.1 environment or am I missing a critical piece that needs to be included in the 9.3.1 environment.
Thanks,

LCM Export not working for Business rules in 11.1.1.3
Hi,
I triggered an LCM export for Business rules (just 2 rules) with the admin id and its in in progress state for the past 2 hours. I don't think its making any progress as I checked the below,
1) No LCM logs created in the /hyperion/common/utilities/logs/LCM/ folder.
2) No export directories are created in the Import/Export folder.
3) No errors registered in the shared services logs.
What could be the reason for this issue?
Is there any other logs which I missed to check?
Is there a way to kill this apart from recycling the services? This is a known issue and has to do with the http timeout settings. Usually this will happen on the 5 minute limit, but it depends what setting they have.
Take a look at this article and see if it applies:
Business Rules That Take More Than Five Minutes to Execute Are Re-launched Repeatedly [ID 755406.1]

Oracle EPM 11.1.1: Business Rules issue
Hi All,
I have installed Oracle EPM 11.1.1 and I have created a planning application. However when I logon to Analytical Administration console and try to create a business rule I am facing the following issue:
1. When I try to select Planning Application out I get the following errors:
Error connecting to Essbase server <Server name>/<Application Name>.
Detail:Could not log in to Planning Server
2. As a work around I have set the Essbase outline and the rule is getting validated from AAS. This rule has been attached to a form and should be executed when I do a submit. However the rule is not running from the form. I tried running the rule from Planning web and again I am getting an error.
I checked the access rights for the Business Rule from shared services and the admin user (which I am using) has Provision and Administrator rights. Is it a configuration issue or is there something that I am missing here.
Thanks in advance,

Try to add a description to the Business Rule. There is a bug associated with it and you can find out in the Planning Readme. We had the same issue and got resolved by adding a description to the BR. Hope this will work for you.But the problem is he can't even create a business rule so how can he add a description to something he can't create?
