Business Rule to folder, how?

Hi,
Sorry for the newbie question, I have a good deal of experience with Essbase but am finding Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2 a little strange...
As administrator I create folders to hold Business Rules, from Hyperion Planning, under Business Rule Folders, create new folder.
Now the manual tells me to use 'Calculation Manager', but does not say where to find this.
In the absence of this being accessible from Hyperion Planning or Workspace I go to EAS, create a new business rule and then log back into Hyperion Planning and can see that business rule is now available to launch under 'Tools > Business Rules'
However, I cannot seem to find a way to move this business rule into my folder structure.
Can anyone advise; -
1. Am I accessing the right calculation manager
2. If yes to above is there an extra step to put it in an appropriate folder, and if so where. If not where do I find the 'Calculation Manager' in question?
And yes, I am using the same admin user at all points in the process. And yes task list, form et al forms / folders work fine for me.
Easy points for the answer!!
thanks,
Robert.

Hi
The Business Rules folder within Hyperion Planning is only used when you have enabled Calculation Manager as you chosen option of calculation type when creating the application.
When you first created the application you would have been given an option of Business Rules or Calculation manager on the very first screen. If you chose Business Rules then the Business Rules folder section within Hyperion Planning means nothing. However if you selected Calculation Manger at setup then Business Rule folders will allow you to group you Rules created from within Calculation Manager.
The choice though of Business Rules was removed by the version you are running
To get to Calculation Manager, Navigate->Administer->Calculation Manager.
If you cannot see it then you havent got Calculation Manager running or setup.
Thanks
Anthony

  • Where and how to create business rules?

    Hi All,
    1) Where and how to create business rules?
    2) How to configure Rule Engines (Ex: JRULE Engine or any other Rule Engines)?
    3) Whar products are available for Rule Engines?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
You have some options on business rules.
If you just want to create business rules that are easy for business owners to edit without a lot of training, Oracle BPM has a simple business rules creation and end user edit capability. The benefits to using the rules that come with Oracle BPM are:
<li> they are simple and easy to edit
<li> end users can get up to speed quickly to edit them
<li> when changed, the business process is immediately impacted
<li> they can use the Oracle BPM business parameters that also come with the product
    Drawbacks are:
<li> you can only use Project variables as the variable content inside of them
<li> if a company already has a business rules engine, they are different that the company's standard
Business rules engines have been used with Oracle BPM. If you are a consultant, first ask if there is a standard business rules engine that the company already has purchased that they use (e.g. iLog from IBM, Corticon...). If this is the case, you typically integrate to the rules using a web service interface that the business rules engine exposes.
If they do not already have a business rules engine, consider Jrules. The benefits are:
<li> it is a part of the Oracle BPM Suite that they might have purchased
<li> version 11g of the Jrules is coming out soon with a friendly front end
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Planning -v11.1.1.1 - Cannot Communicate with Business Rules

    Hi,
We are unable to log into Business Rules no matter how many times we recreate users and properly provision them. I found this in the 11.1.1.1 Installation and Configuration Guide but have no idea of where or how to make this change.
    Planning
    • After you manually deploy Planning, Business Rules does not communicate with Planning. To work around this issue, add the following Java Options:
    -DESS_ES_HOME=/hyperion/products/Essbase/eas/server -Dhyperion.home=/hyperion -DHYPERION_HOME=/Hyperion [8622082]
Where exactly would we do this and could it possibly help?

Issue is with SSH the SSH ware running in two sys and conflict issue.
Restored the Open DAP and suggested the client to re start the Service and server ones.
Client can successfully able to log to EAS and to BR now.
Couple of BR access issue is resolved by provision and Refresh of Manage database.

  • Business rules help

    Hi da,
I have few queries on business rules.
    1. what is the use of business rules ? and how can we use and where can we use it. is there any usefull guide?
I can see BR outline tab in EAS console with some of functions. ( I just recently finished my essbase training and we never told about these business rules).
    2. In shared services when I try to open Business Rules under projects it is showing the error" Refer to essbase security guide" . ( I externalized all users to Shared services). So how can I access Business Rules in shared serives? or is there any other way to access.
    {OS: windows server 2003 sp2
    DB: Sql Server 2005
    Hyperion System 9( 9.3.1).}
    Help will be appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sri-Oralce.

    Hi Sri,
    1. Basics of BR ( Business Rules ) can be found in planning document ( there are 2 planning docs 1. user guide and 2. Admin guide). Pls find that
    2. From Planning perspective , we create Business Rules ,which are nothing but another version of essbase calculatino scripts , thats why you do see in EAS.
    3. Essbase training does not include Business Rules ( planning does include). If you are comfortable with calculation scripts, then BR's should be comfortable to you.
    4. To see BR's in shared services , I have a question , did you install Planning and all.

I had came across with same error in system 9, few years back.
Luckily, issue was in the installation phase. I had reconfigured the HBR repository to fix the issue.
Can you check on the Shared Services Roles for that user. Again, what you can try is create a new user, assign HBR admin and try login.

  • Automating consolidation entries using business rules

    Hi all,
May I know whether it is possible to automate the following standard consolidation entries in SAP BPC using Automatic Adjustments Business Rules tables:
    1. Attribution of profit after tax to Equity Holders and Minority Interest;
    2. Appropriation of changes in post-acquisition Reserves to Minority Interest; and
    3. Elimination of parent company's Investment in Subsidiaries against subsidiaries' pre-acquisition Share Capital and Reserves.
The mechanics of these entries are:
    1. [Profit after Tax|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x POWN% -&gt; post to [Retained Earnings|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] and [Profit after Tax|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x Minority Interest % -&gt; post to [Minority Interest|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/]
    2. [Post-acquisition changes in Reserves|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x Minority Interest % -&gt; post to [Minority Interest|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/]
    3. Parent company's [Investment in Subsidiaries|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] -&gt; post to [Goodwill|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/], Subsidiaries' [Pre-acquisition Share Capital and Reserves|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x POWN% -&gt; post to [Goodwill|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] and Subsidiaries' [Pre-acquisition Share Capital and Reserves|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/] x Minority Interest % -&gt; post to [Minority Interest|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/].
    The questions are:
How do I specify the Minority Interest % in the Automatic Adjustments Business Rules Table.
How do I specify that I am using Direct PCON% and Direct Minority Interest % for some entries and Indirect POWN% and Indirect Minority Interest % for some other entries?
How do I post one entry to the same level in the ENTITY hierarchy in which the ENTITY resides for subsidiaries and post the same entry to the immediate next higher level for the Parent Company in that level?
    Thank you.
    Regards.

    Resolved.

  • Business rules implementation: suggestions

    Hi all,
my customer has asked me to implement a set of screens that would allow him to enter new rules or modify existing business rules for his company. Currently, they are sort of hard-coded into the software he uses.
The software he used is a java application combined with an Oracle database.
One way to do this would be just to put together some clever tables in the database with columns and rows indicating what parameters to use for a specific business rule. But how to assess whether a "clever" Oracle table is going to be enough and how far could it be used with more complicated rules ?
    OTher suggestions ?
    Thank you .
    G.

Well, there was an official API (meaning from Sun) for a rules engine in Java... Java Rule ( or Rules) Engine API. No idea how mature it is , since I've never used it.
Search for it and find out if it can help..

  • User Variable Options: How can I use them in a Business Rule?

How can I use a "User Variable" set in File / Preferences in a Business Rule? It doesn't seem to appear as an Essbase Substitution Variable or as a Global Variable of Business Rules. The only way I know how to use it is to place the dimension on the POV or Page dimension of a data form, then use a Global Variable in a run time prompt to pick the member and run a BR against it, or some function of it.
What do I do if I want to have that dimension in Columns or Rows? How can I set a BR to directly reference the member chosen under User Variable Options?
    J

Thanks Alp, but I can't seem to reproduce what you are writing below. I want to refer my Business Rule to address the value set in File / Preferences / User Variable Options; no matter what members I show elsewhere in the data form.
My other workaround is through a run time prompt and hope the user selects the appropriate user variable at the very bottom of the selection list in order to calculate the appropriate list of members.

  • How to get rid of Business Rule in JhsModel: JHS-00128 Allowable Values req

    JHeadstart 10.1.3.2
We are using FlexItems in our application.
The JhsModel implementation, shipped in Jar file jhsadfrt-10.1.3.jar, contains the underlying ADF BC objects for the FlexItem functionality.
When we try to create (or remove) a FlexItemDefinition of type Dropdown List, we are stopped by the error: JHS-00128: Allowable Values are required for this Item Display Type.
We do not want that - we have a UID that does not allow editing of master and details on the same page. Therefore, we will never be able to successfully create a dropdown list item since we cannot in the same transaction create the allowable values as well.
How could we disable this business rule - or remove it altogether? I suppose it is implemented somewhere in the jar file that contains the JhsModel project. What is the recommended way of disabling this constraint?
    thanks for your help
    Lucas

    Hi Lucas,
This error is raised if the number of allowable values is zero and the allowable values query of the flexitemdefinitions entity is 'empty'. You could write a (temporary) dummy allowable values query in the flexitemdefinitions entity in order to save the master, and then once you've input the allowable values in the details page, remove or reset the value in the allowable values query attribute of the flexitemdefinitions entity.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,

  • How to create business rule for 'Integrity constraint - child not found'

Hello, I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0.
When an integrity constraint is violated an error message coming from database is displayed in my application. In this case is the error "integrity constraint (TableName) violated - child record found "
How can I personalize the error shown in this case? I tried with EO business rules but I couldn't find this key, only "Key exists" or "UniqueKey".

  • How to create Business Rule?

    Hi All,
i am new to Hyperion, can any one help me on the following issue.
i want to crate a business rule to aggregate data from level 0 to parent level for one partcula data form and aloso have to calculate the data for the following member
Cost per Unit = Total Revenue/Unit
i have already have the member formula in outline for cost per Unit as follows
    Cost per Unit = Expense/Unit
How i can create the business ruleto calculate the data for cost per Unit (Total Revenu/Unit) and the aggregation of data to the parent level in data form
I have 12 dimensions and i am using 9.3.1 Version
    Thanks in advance

i want to crate a business rule to aggregate data from level 0 to parent level for one partcula data form^^^These are oldies but goodies:

    http://camerons-blog-for-essbase-hackers.blogspot.com/2009/06/why-i-hate-and-love-business-rules-part_17.html
Cost per Unit = Total Revenue/Unit^^^Are you asking if it makes sense to calculate this ratio at all levels of the database or only at the top level? If you mean that it only makes sense at level zero, you could use a FIX statement to select all level zero members and then perform the calculation. Based on the formula, I would think you could get away with a dynamically calculated member formula, assuming Total Revenue is dynamically calculated as well. Generally, level zero calcs in a business rule are only required if there's a percentage involved; if the formula is valid at aggregated levels, make it dynamic unless reporting performance (I have seen dense formulas that go across many, many blocks -- bad idea) falls off a cliff.

  • How to Load Business Rule XML in 9.3.1

    Hello,
I am using EAS 9.3.1. On the Business Rules component, I selected Export Business Rules, and it invited me to export all business rules, variables, macros, and projects into one xml file.
