Business Rules in end2end-po-processing

I am trying to distinguish between the BPEL component and the Oracle Business Rules component within the Oracle SOA Suite. I was curious if there were any aspects of the Oracle Business Rules component in the end2end-po-processing tutorial? If so, I was curious if you could point out the specific differences in this tutorial between the BPEL component and the Business Rules component? If the Oracle Business Rules is not a part of this tutorial is there an example tutorial that incorporates both the BPEL and the Oracle Business Rules components?

On the TP3 page there is a link to the tutorial that shows you how to add Rules to the end to end PO Processing tutorial.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/bpel/techpreview/index.html
Once you do this tutorial, you will have a better understanding of Rules and can re-frame your question.

  • BUSINESS RULES WITH SYNCHRONOUS BPEL PROCESS

    Hi
I want to know whether i can use Business Rules with Synchronous BPEL process. Actually i developed an example synchronous BPEL process but while invoking decision service it generated an error stating RECEIVE TIMEOUT fault. But when i created identical process in ASYNCHRONOUS mode it went through without any error.
    Thanks and Regards

Just in case, here is some documentation about changing the syncMaxWaitTime

  • Business Rule Hit by BPEL Process

(newbie question) I'm using JDeveloper 10 and am getting a "Build Failed" error when trying to deploy my BPEL project that invokes a business rule.
My environment is ok deploying projects without a business rule. I seemed to have no problems creating the business rule.
I'm able to see the "Build Failed" error from the "Ant" tab, but I'm trying to find the log file that might give me the root cause of the problem. How do you figure out the cause of this error?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The output of the ant is on the most right tab of the log panel.
It should give you more info about the failure.

  • JHeadstart, Oracle Business Rules and BPEL Process Manager

    Dear JHeadstart Team,
I have some questions regarding integration of JHeadstart and Oracle Business Rules and Oracle BPEL Process Manager. As a matter of fact I don't have any work expriences with these tools so my questions may not be good and precise.
1- Using a business rule engine can dramatically increase speed of development and ease of maintenance.I had a very good exprience in using JHeadstart and Headstart in the past but I wanted to know if it is possible to use Oracle Business Rules in conjunction with the JHeadstart ? If so, What steps should be taken? Is there any known issue about this integration? Does Oracle Business Rules have any interference with JHeadstart or it is only used in model layer during insert, update, delete?
2- Is it possible to develope a system based on oracle work flow engine (Oracle BPEL Process Manager) using JHeadstart ? If so, What steps should be taken and how the changes in the flow of work would by applyed in a system developed by JHeadstart. Is there any known issue about this integration?
Any help, link to documents or general guidelines would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Navid

Couple of things I would like to add, are the following.
In the context of an ADF application usage of Oracle Business Rules most likely is in the business logic layer, but mind that it does not need to be restricted to that.
Oracle Business Rules takes so called 'facts' as input, evaluates some rules based on that and change those facts or return some result. That might be checking a business rule as defined in the JHeadstart Developers Guide. But it might also return some value that is used in a navigation rule.
Think about a page flow where after page A normally page C is presentend, but in case of some situation (like a customer ordered something and you want to present some special offering based on that) you want page B presented in between (i.e. A -> B -> C). Oracle Rules could be used to determine this page flow. This would be an example of using it in the controller layer (probably in combination with using facts that come from the model layer).
Another remark that I would like to make, is that in my opinion it does not make much sense to use Oracle Rules for business rules that logically more or less are part of your data model (like end date must be on or after begin date). You typically use Oracle Rules to implement business rules that are of a volatile nature, meaning that day-to-day business may require a change of the rules. One example is the navigation case that I mentioned before. Another (typical) example would be a rule that defines when a customer is a Gold customer.

  • After completion of Business rule Job Console shows status as Processing

    Hi All,
    I have installed Oracle EPM 11.1.2 .
When I run rules through Hyperion planning the rules that go in to job console do not show a change of status even though they are completed. I checked Essbase logs which shows that the BR has completed its processing yet in Planning job Console it shows the status as "Processing" .
Please share your thoughts on how to rectify this issue.
    Thanks

  • Execution time of Business Rule

    Hi,
My rule is taking more than a day to run. How can i watch its exact execution time. I can't see it in job console as it shows that the business rule is still in processing. And i have also checked in HSP_JOB_STATUS table. It also shows that it is in processing.
Is there an other way to see the exact execution time of business rule.
    Thanks and Regards.

To see the exact execution time, you can check in HBRlaunch.log file in planning.
If you want to track the execution time of different parts of your calculation script/business rule then see the essbase application log in detail in EAS.
To see log specific to your business rule, use maxl and spool log to text file, this will give you the logs related to your business rule only and the execution time.
    Thanks

  • How to Reuse Business Rules

    Hi,
I've created a composite business rule and exposed as a composite, if i want to call reuse that business rule in multiple bpel processes, how can i do it?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you :)
    Thx,
    Rahul venkat

    Hi
I am currently facing a problem invoking a Composite from within the BPEL.
Scenario: I have created a composite which has one Business Rule Component. The composite deploys successfully to the Web Logic Server. (Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings). However there is a number of "ignoring messages" which do not affect the deploy. These ignoring messages could be the souce of my problem which I will explain later. Example of an ignoring message
ignoring C:\Work\Project\ValidationProcess\Rules\xsd\PDQuality_DecisionService_1Types.xsd; not on source path
Now if I create a new project composite which has a BPEL component. The BPEL component has a partner link to call the Composite mentioned above. When assigning variables i.e Input variables to the partnerlink service, I notice that the payload of the invoke variables ( TO Section) has an error "Exception - Problem building schema!"
To prove that the partner service is working. I can view the WSDL in Internet Explorer. I can use the Eclipse WTP workbench to invoke the service ( Composite with Rules ). Now could it be that I am getiing this problem because initially when deploying the service (Composite with Rules) I was getting these ignoring messages and could it be that I should add all the ignoring source to the source path.... OR am I just embarking on a tangent!
    Thanks in advance
    Using SOA 11G - 11.1.1.2 (WebLogic Server 10.3.2) and Jdev 11.1.1.2.0
    Thx,

  • Modify Business Rules without redeploying the application

    Hello everyone,
When using a "Business Rules" with a BPMN Process, we can change the business rules without redoploying the application by using BPM Composer. I would like to know if it is possible to do the same thing when we use a business rules with a BPEL Process.
Thank you in advance for your answer

    Hi Neeraj,
    Thanks for your answer,
BPMN Process exist only in Oracle BPM Suite, in Oracle SOA Suite we have a BPEL Process to model the business activities
My problem is when I try to open a deployed project from Business Composer, it opens only projects where I use a BPMN Process. So when I use a business rules with a BPEL Process, I can't open the deployed project from the Business Composer.

  • Logs of Business rules

    Hi Experts
I am running Consolidation business rules - IC Match & consolidation process , I can see the some number of records getting generated but not sure what exactly records by line item..
Where I can check this records level details ?
    Thanks!!

You are awesome !! Thanks for your valuable feedback..this will definitely help many people..
I will just summarize from that post how we can check logs..
Example: You want to test the Consolidation business rule & check what records it is writing..
Step 1)Do Light Optimize so that request id in the Manage of consol cube in BW closes( Yellow->Green)
Step 2)Run the consolidation business rule, you will see some 250 records written..
Step 3)Again right click on consol cube in BW and hit Manage and now you can see new request id with yellow status..
Step 4)Copy the request ID of the new entry and filter in Display data and now you can see that 250 records which was run by business rules
I guess this will be helpful for someone !! Cheers!!

  • Business rule assignment in Process Control 10.0, does not show any Control

    Hi All,
I have created Organization, and assigned Mitigation control, as shown below. I have also created data Source and Business rule. But Business rule assignment is Blank for Controls. So, could you suggest, how can i see the Controls for the Business rule
    Regards
    Plaban

You'll need to ensure the timeframes are aligned. What is the valid from date of your organisation and equally so important from your (sub)proces and your control. You are trying to do an assignment as per the first of january 2015. You'll not find entities that are created after Jan 1 2015.
Furthermore you can only select controls that are either earmarked to be tested automated or semi-automated.
Finally you're refering to mitigating controls. So that would imply you have integrated the AC mitigating controls with PC or vice versa. What is the creation date of the mitigating control and per which date has it been assigned to the local subprocess?
In order to provide a precise answer we'd need more details on the exact process you've follow. There are simply more than on possible root causes depending on what you've done.
    Hope this helps.

  • Creating simple Business Rules in BPEL process

    Hi,
I have an environment consisting of SOA Suite 11g running on Weblogic Server. I'm using JDeveloper 11g for development.
    Scenario
I have a BPEL process which starts off by polling a DB table and I then assign the input to a Recieve activity's InputVariable. I have a 'Number' column which will contain a number between 1 and 3. I then require Business Rules (BR) to be set up which read this value, and based on the number, assign a 'Name' string (which is to be the output variable from the business rules) to be used later on in BPEL process.
Problem - I have followed the basic tutorials available in order to set up the business rules, but am getting numerous errors. Firstly, I sometimes find that my input/output variables created during setup of BR component and the XSD based on this, does not have XML Faces automatically created for it (therefore have to create it myself by clicking on the + button and doing this for each element of XSD). When I do get this working, I then double-click on my Business Rules activity in my BPEL process, only to find that the input/output variables here no longer are assignable to my BR input/output variables as I get the following error "Exception: Problem Building Schema!".
I am not sure why this is, but suspect that my XSD (which is very simple anyway) or the setup steps I follow to define the link to my XSD, are wrong.
I have taken the following steps so far:
    1. Create empty BPEL process
    2. Set up polling adapter to poll DB table
    3. Create Receive activity and assigned polled input to created variable
    4. Add Business Rules component to composite and set up and create dictionary here. Also set up inputs/outputs to be in form of my XSD elements.
    5. Add Business Rules component to my BPEL process and configure this to include input/output variables (*This is where error occurs*)
    6. Go back to .rules component in composite to define rule and define rule
Upon deployment, I get many errors most of which pertain to "Unresolved XML element... make sure XML element +xxxxx+ is defined in one of WSDL's that are referenced by the deployment descriptor."
I have only imported a simple XSD containing two elements to this project. The other XSD is the one of my polling adapter. I've not created any input/output variables for the overall BPEL process as didn't think I was required to.
Can you please help in getting this process doing the simple activities described at the top.
    I appreciate your help.

    Hi,
Create a project with BPEL composite
    Now drag a business rule
Now create input variable of type ur requestelement
and output variable of type response element
Now in rules designer page take decision table
and then craete a condition (inputelement.input > 1000) and in the rule select true
now create another rule select false
Npw create an action with assertion and select the parameterized box there
now in designer page for first rule assign some value (say 500) and for second rule some value(100)
Now in bpel u have to assign a value to input var of BR
    Deploy the process
    If u supply 10000 u will get 500
    if u supply 100 u will get 100
In the same way u can do by using If-Then
You can use facts and bucketsets according to ur requirement

  • Business Rules are not imported in deployment process

    Dear friends:
I am deploying a project. The project has 23 business rules.
In the Oracle BPM Process Administrator,--> Projects --> In the column Business Rules --> Details , There are not one business rule imported which was created in Oracle BPM Studio.
What is happening? Something is wrong in the deployment process?
Or what is the correct way to write business rule for a project?
    I hope your answers.
    Best Regards,
    Danny

    Hi Danny,
If you're using Oracle BPM Enterprise running on WebLogic you're ok. I know it's disconcerting, but your business rules were really created and deployed. It's a cosmetic bug that prevents them from being able to be viewed in the Process Administrator tool.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi
I know that we can use business rules in BPEL process as decision services.

    Hi,
I am not sure if the configuration of MSMQ is fine at you side, it is better to check my how to document too as here I clearly mentioned about MSMQ steps.
This is the direct link: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/101531ad-bcf5-2b10-ac9c-c102908c1b7f
Just skip the ABAP part and follow the MSMQ part.
