Business Rules Not Validating

<p>Hi</p><p> I have a business rule that is not validating against thegiven database.</p><p>I have tried copying the calculations into a calc script andthey validated and executed successfully. Can someone tell me whyis the business rule not validating the calculations?</p>

Hello,<BR>if you would give the error message then we might help you better. <BR><BR>The HBR are not at par with calc scripts. One thing that is different is that an nested IF statement should be on a sparse member block. In Calc scripts it does not matter which member from which dimension, in HBR it is important.<BR><BR>Regards,<BR>Philip Hulsebosch<BR><BR>www.Trexco.nl

  • Job status of Business Rules not reflecting correctly in Hyperion Planning

    Hi,
In our Planning Web Application version 11.1.2.1 (Classic application), we have issue with the Business Rules not changing the job status from Processing to Complete.
Essentially giving an indication to users that the job is taking longer than expected.
Having noticed that behavior, when we cross check with Admin credentials (Application Logs ) HBR Launch.log. The End Time of the job is updated promptly.
We have couple of SRs Open with Oracle but they concluded it’s a bug and need to upgrade to 11.1.2.2. But currently we do not have any plans to upgrade to the latest version.
In order to force the Status change to mark it as Complete at the SQL Server backend.
We have to update the status table HYP_JOB_STATUS manually via database update.
    But this is laborious process.
Did anyone encounter such issue? Please suggest a feasible option here ?
    Thanks,
    Venkat

    Hello Shiva,
We do not have any issue with calc rules; we are facing this issue with Business rules.
We have looked into the logs in both Applcation logs and Essbase logs nothing found strange except couple of .xcp files were generated in Essbase server. We have sent those .xcp files to Oracle for investigation. We have also noticed that Web Logic server was not hand shaking properly with Hyperion Server. Oracle responded with few application settings which we are already sycn with recommended settings.
We had the same issue in 8 months back and the same repeated now.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

  • Business Rules not available in Planning

I logged into EAS console and created a business rule against my planning outline. It validated properly and even runs properly from the EAS console (changes data as expected).
But when I log into Planning to assign this rule to a form the business rule is not listed either under the TOOLS > Business rules menu option or under the Business Rules Tab in Form editor.
What do I need to do to get this business rule into Planning?

    I am on 9.3.1.
I have 2 servers, the essbase (hy01) and the planning (hy06). When logging into EAS I usually select the essbase server to log into (hy01). I created 1 business rule while logged into hy01 and it appeared when I logged into planning through workspace. I associated that BR with the outline hy06/AppName/DBname and used that as the location as well.
After that business rule was a grand success if I log into hy01 when logging onto EAS and then try to expand the BR node I get a "Error logging in to Business Rules. The repository has not been configured or you are not authorized to use Business Rules."
But I can log into EAS using hy06 and access the business rules just fine (including the original one). But every business rule I have created since then does not show up into planning.
So, in retrospect, I guess my question might be why can't I use Business Rules when logging into EAS through the Essbase server (hy01) but have full functionality when logging in through planning server (hy06) except for being able to then see the business rules I create in Planning through Workspace?
I am logged in as admin and no permissions have changed.

  • Business Rule Not Deploying - Receiving Error Message

while trying to launch a business rule that I had updated this morning. This business rule is in the OH plan type. I was able to hit launch and even though I could see the calc running in EAS, I received this error
Rule was validated with no potential errors, the rule could not be validated against the deployed application as connection information could not be found.
    looking for the assistance.
    Thanks
    Kiran.Kolli

If restarting the calc manager services does not help, increase the JDBC connection time-out.
    1. Open CalcMgrConfig.properties present in calc-mgr deployment folder (WEB-INF\conf)
    2. Increase the value of property 'DB.timeout' to 60000.
    3. Remove the starting '#' for this property.
    4. Re-start calc-mgr service.

  • Business Rules Not Visible in Planning.............

    Hi All,
I have created business rules in Essbase & works well. But Those are not showed in planning App.Here , While i'm
creating Business Rules ,able to access for essbase only , when click on planning to shows unable login planning.
    Plzzzzzzzz help out.......
    Thanks

I am having the same problem with accessing business rules in version 9.3.1. I have been working with Oracle support for 5 months now trying to resolve this and they have not been able to help.
This application has been up and running for over a year before this behavior occurred. Previously users were able to view and run business rules. It is only affecting non-native authenticated users. The admin user and natively authenticated users can run/edit & vaidate rules. In order to run business rules all users have to log in with the admin user ID (not a good solution).
Any ideas, clues or new method of debugging this issue would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    John

  • 11.1.1.3 Business rules not appearing in form

    Hi
I am working in 11.1.1.3, and creating HBRs in calc manager, with variables, for use on planning forms (i.e. to "Run on Save")
Problem I have is that even after the rule is deployed, it is not visible in the "Business Rules" tab while editing the data form.
Anyone know of any bugs that might be causing this issue ?
    Thanks

There are a few bugs that will cause this -- have you patched up to the latest EPMA, Calc Manager, and Planning patches that are available from support.oracle.com?

  • Business rule not showing the result

When i am executing a business rule, it runs successfully but it does not show any result. But when i enter any amount in that specific cell where the BR should calculate the amount and then run the BR then it shows me the required result. What can be the reason for that?
    We are on 11.1.2
and im making BRs through Calc Manager (Wizard Based)
    Edited by: ar_aff on Mar 24, 2011 9:56 PM

    I think that's about Block problem (value of a cell). The BR can't open block automatically. In BR sorce usually used a command Set Createnonmissngblk on before calculating value;

  • Shared Services 11.1.2 + Provisioned Roles for Business Rules not reflectin

    Hi,
I have provisioned users to have 'Basic' role in shared services for Business rules. We are using Calc manager + classic planning app. However users are unable to see the business rules associated with the forms due to which the rules dont run on save. Is there a intermediary step which I am overlooking?

  • Business rules not showing up in Planning

    hi guys,
we qare in the development stage.
i logged in to planning application and could not see the business rules in the tools
.could some one help me out on this....very urgent

    Hi,
One thing to check for is that hbrserver.properties exists in file structure under the planning web application, e.g.
    \Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\HyperionPlanning\webapps\HyperionPlanning\WEB-INF\classes\HBRServer.properties
This example is for tomcat on 9.3.x
If the file doesn't exist there copy it from your AAS installation dir e.g. Hyperion\AnalyticAdministrationServices
Make sure you restart planning if you have to copy the file across
    Cheers

  • Error code returned if the business rules not executed

Recently we found that some Hyperion business rules are not executed during the daily batch file but no error code was returned.
Is there any method to force the return of error code so that we can check the batch result more easier?
    Thanks a lot!

For information, we are using the batch file under EAS console directory of Essbase:

  • Business Rules not visible in Hyperion Planning

I created a group in Shared Services and added 6 (native) accounts.
After that, I assigned Access Privileges to Business Rules in AAS for this group.
When I open Planning Web and go to Tools - Business Rules, 5 of the 6 users can see the Business Rules,
but one users only sees the CalcScripts.
I think I tried everything; removed/added the account from the group, refreshing security, refresh in Planning-Desktop
    I'm using version 9.2.03
Anyone knows whats going on here?

Thats the strange thing; We use (native) groups to provision. This works fine for the other 5 users.
But even if I provision this one user for the Business Rules, they remain invisible to this user. (in Planning)
I discovered this morning that this user can create a new BR, but when I try to open it in AAS console I get an error
"Exception occured, Please check your log file for details."
Unfortunately, the log doesn't provide any more details. (even if I set the level to Debug)

  • Business Rules not visible sometimes-via web and smartview

    We use EPM 11.1.2.
we have a unique problem-Business rules (associated with forms)sometimes fail to appear either via web or smartview for our users. After logging out and back in,sometimes they appear again.
If we explicitly 'disconnect all' from smartview, close Excel, and go back in again, then the rules are visible.
It is becoming hard to tell when the users can or cannot see the business rules.
All users have the right provisioning-interactive user.
Has anybody seen this kind of behavior before?
We had a similar issue a while back-with eas web versus eas desktop client. Oracle gave us a specific fix for the eas business rules problem.

  • Business rules and validation at view level?

    Hello,
I was hoping to be able to do attribute validation at view level but I could not find this option and I would need to help to determine how to achieve this.
I have a view based on several entities. That view include a updatable entity and others read only entities.
Basically I have a season entity/ table and a dateRange Entity/table. The model is that dateRange is a child of Season ( a season can have several dataranges...).
I need a validation rule to fire when users change the dateRange in the UI, I have to make sure that the date range attributes from and to are in the range of the season definition (season table has two attributes: starting date and ending date). So I would like to verify that
    daterange.from > season.startingdate and daterange.to < Season.endingdate and daterange.from < daterange.to
Can I do that in some way? I don't how to resolve this at the entity level. the entity does not know about other entities, here I need a validation of the transaction by checking serveral entities.
Thank you very much for your help

    You can do this programatically.
