Business Rules "Run on Save" in SmartView - Message after running

Hello Experts,
There is any way to display a message (success / failure) after a Business Rule run in Smart View (version 11.1.2.2)?
Our rules, running in Smart View, aren't displaying any message in contrast when they run through web workspace - we only know they run (successfully / unsuccessfully) going to Job Console.

Thank you John, It is nice to have this feature in Smart View. 
Although, we want that the Planner don't worry in going to Job Console. We would expect a message (success / failure) in the same way it happens troughs workspace.

    We have users using Smartview which get the following error: "The request timed out. Contact your admistrator ro increase netRetryCount and netRetryInterval." It appear that everytime a user execute a business rule or refresh a form, if the business rule or the form takes more than a minute to complete, the user will get the timeout error. If it is only few seconds to run, then the user will not get the timeout error.
    We use Hyperion Planning 9.2.0. Is this something to do with the setting in HBRServer.properties? We have the following settings at this moment:
    HBR.maxconn=20
    HBR.timeout=30000
    HBR.catalog=HYPSVR01
    #embedded server timeout in minutes
    #HBR.embedded_timeout=10
    #HBR.css_refresh=30
    HBR_APP_NAME=orclrddb01

    Could anyone advise the meaning of the above entries or where can I get the information about the entries?
    Do we need to use: HBR.embedded_timeout or HBR_DB_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT setting?

    As advised by Hyperion, we add :8300 (port number)
    into the smartview connection string, this appear to have solve the problem, e.g.

  • Can not run Power saver on my Satellite after SP2 installation

    I cannot Install or run toshiba power saver on my Satellite A60. I updated to SP2 on the windows update page and cannot run power saver. I have tried re-installing the software but that still won't work. Any ideas PLEASE!!!

    Hi after installing the power utillites for A60 the instll ran through OK but when i tried selecting the power options in the control panel i get a access denied. Now everytime i boot i get a error:
    Toshiba Power Save
    A fatal error has occurred. This programme will be terminated.

    i quite suprised as this seems to be a Toshiba problem as they obviously aent supplied correct driver s for this platform.

  • I am trying to re-install ITunes on Windows XP.  When I do this, all I get is the "save" or "cancel" message, not "run".  What am I doing wrong?

    Because of  getting the message that I had to uninstall Apple Mobile Support Device and ITunes, in order to get my ITunes to be usable, I did that.  While trying to re-install ITunes, all I get on the message is the choice to "save" or "cancel".  It will not give me the "run" choice.  What am I doing wrong?  This should be fairly simple to reinstall, I thought.
    I am running Windows XP on a desktop computer using Firefox.

    Thanks so much.  This definitely worked.  I'm sorry I did  not think of using IE.  I use Foxfire exclusively so seldom even think of IE as an alternative.

    Please help. I cannot do the latest Software Update. I have tried multiple time and each time I have gotten the same error message. Here it is:
    "The update could not be expanded and verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."

    I can't help with your issue as a general problem, but for the specific update to OS X 10.6.6, I'd download the updater directly from http://support.apple.downloads, then install it from the ".dmg" file. The specific links will be either
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1349 for the "combo" update or
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1343 for the update from OS X 10.6.5.

    My requirement is to Post vendor invoice through ALE/IDOC ( Inbound IDOC ).
    - For that I had generated the IDOC using  Function module 'IDOC_INBOUND_WRITE_TO_DB '
    - Then I had processed that generated IDOC by calling the standard program rbdapp01(BD20-Tranaction ) using the below statment
    SUBMIT rbdapp01 WITH SELECTION-TABLE lt_seltab .
    Could any one suggest me how to get the report output of standard program (rbdapp01) to an internal table so that I dispaly as an seperated report like Posted Document number with messages or Error message
    Suggest me any Function module or any other standard program to process the IDOC so that I can fulfill my requirement.

    Use can read the IDOC status after processing...
    Eg.
      SELECT * FROM edidc INTO TABLE t_idoc_control_tmp
          FOR ALL ENTRIES IN t_update WHERE docnum = t_update-docnum.
    and then add your own logic IF SY_SUBRC EQ 0.

    I recently ran a diagnostics tool on my Mid-2010 17" MBP and it came up with the following 4 fails - any ideas?

    I have a similar situation. Did the ASD test as well and came up with this:
    Battery: Unconsumed Battery Capacity Test (test #31) - Unconsumed Battery Capacity Test
                        - Checks Battery has completed less cycles than design-cycle-count and maximum capacity is greater than 80% of designed capacity.
               ERROR -- 6 [Capacity below minimum] -- TEST FAILED
    I was wondering how things are now?

    These are complex issues to solve, you should open a case with support, they will ask for atl, log files and the DUMP file that is created in the log directory when a system exception occurs.

  • Business Rule Design Transformer fails with ORA-00001

    I'm stuck with the Business Rule Design Transformer Utility of Headstart. After running this utility over one BR it is impossible to run it over other BR's because of violation of the unique constraint HST65.QMS_MSP_PK (table QMS_MESSAGE_PROPERTIES). The problem is that the utility tries to insert a record (message, specified in the Notes property of Designer) into QMS_MESSAGE_PROPERTIES with the code "ABI-10000", that was already created by running the utility for the first time.
    Exact error message: "Activity aborted with ORACLE internal errors.
    -1 ORA-00001: unique constraint (HST65.QMS_MSP_PK) violated"
    I'm using Designer 6i (6.5.52.1.0) and Headstart 6.5.1.3
    If someone has any clue about this I would be very grateful

    The name of the business rule is already in the CONSTRAINT_NAME of the QMS_MESSAGE_PROPERTIES table.
    I already tested by deleting the records in the two tables, QMS_MESSAGE_PROPERTIES and QMS_MESSAGE_TEXT, and ran the utility, but it didn't help either. I can run the utility for one rule, but when I want to run it again at some later point, it fails with this error.
    But, I managed to create rule definitions using the HSU Create Business Rule Design Definition, rule by rule. I only had to add references in the business rule to the used module.

  • Can't see some Business Rules after running the Import via LCM

    I am trying to migrate our Business Rules down from Prod to Dev to get them back in sync. Here is the steps I have run:
    Export ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Prod via LCM
    I confirmed the export directory contains an .xml file for EACH Rule.
    copied the export directory down to Dev Shared Services server
    Turned on DEBUG for Shared Services
    Deleted ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Dev EAS BR repository
    I confirmed that ALL BUsiness Rules are listed and checked in LCM Import.
    run the Import from Dev Shared Services via LCM
    I get a Completed successfully message. No Errors.
    I Refresh Rules in Dev EAS and I only see 25% of the Business Rules listed.
    I have tried to Stop/Restart the EAS services and still nothing.
    I confirmed that the ID I am using to Export / Import has access on each Business Rule either directly or via a Group that has access.
    Any thoughts??

    I was really trying to get it done via LCM since I have all other migrations being done there. but I ended up taking your advice and doing it the old fashion way via EAS export.
    To answer your questions:
    We are on 11.1.1.3
    I did not see any problems in the Services logs for EAS. Nothing that stood out.
    We are migratiing 66 Rules and 15 Sequences.
    We are using Weblogic instead of Tomcat.
    Even though I have a workaround for the issue I am still interested in understanding why some of them did not import via LCM. You mentioned that you might consider adjusting some config settings. What settings would you recommend looking at?

  • Smartview Forms - Business Rule Execution

    Users edit data within Planning, but don't see changes when refreshing in SmartView until a user executes business rules {Aggregation rule} on the Plan2 cube within Planning [via internet explorer].
    Once the form where the business rule is attached is loaded/saved [set to both on the form / business rule property] - the data in SmartView has the calculation updated.
    Do business rules NOT run from SmartView?

    buiseness rule can be executed from smart view as well but before that i would like to tell you that smart view can be connected to
    1)Essbase using the URL http(s)://<servername>:13080/aps/SmartView
    2)Planning using the URL http(s)://<servername>:8300/HyperionPlanning/SmartView
    here 13080 is the default smart view port for Essbase and 8300 is the default port for Planning.
    Now if the user makes a connection to planning then he can view the data forms and the buiseness rules but not the normal grid view that was visible otherwise in essbase.
    for Forms : Hyperion tab -> Forms -> Select Forms
    for HBR/Calculation Scripts : Hyperion tab -> Calculation options -> Buiseness rule
    if you are connected through Essbase then you can not view the HBR and forms but if you are using the calculation scripts for aggregation then they are visible

  • User Variable in Business Rule or Global Variable

    I wanted to call the User Variable value of Planning application under the Globel Variable of Default Value. Example I have created one Globel variable under the Default value the user varible value need to pickup so any thought how I can do this.
    I know in the Form if you use &UsrVar this will show the user variable value in the Data form but it is not showing the User Variable value in global variable or inside the Business rule.It is giving an error message there is no substitution variable has been defined. Please explain.

    Hi,
    User variables are meant to be used in web forms and web forms only. You can certainly pass their values to business rules when you used them in POV or page section of the form during save. All you need to do is to create another business rule (local or global) variable in business rule on the corresponding dimension and use it in your business rule. If you enable running the business rule on save and using the form values for variables options in form properties, business rules would replace the values of business rule variables with the values that are set in user variables.

  • Business rule provision not reflecting in planning

    We are using Calc manager + classic planning app(11.1.2.1).Following are the steps I have performed.
    1. Assigned 'basic' role for business rules to a group in shared services.
    2. In planning-->admin --> business rule security, i assigned launch access for this group to a folder containing several business rules.
    3. When i open up planning, I am unable to see the business rules associated with the forms. so it doesnt run on save.
    Btw, I refreshed security as well. Am i missing something.??

    But we are using calculation manager. I created a new id and assigned all the groups that an existing user has. When i login with the new id, I can see the business rules, but the existing users cannot see them.
    Please help..

  • Composite Forms and Business Rules

    Working with 11.1.2.3. I have a composite form with 4 tabs - 3 input tabs and 1 review tab. Each of the 3 input tabs have the same business rule attached to them and are set to Run on Save. Within the composite form I have selected the business rules from the 3 input tabs.
    Problem is, when a user enters data into one of the tabs and then clicks Save, the business rule runs twice.
    Any ideas what would cause this?

    In regards to the 3 input forms, the Page/POV sections were slightly different.  For example, Input 1 had No_Category and No_Brand in the POV and Channels in the rows, Input 2 had No_Channel and No_Brand in the POV and No_Categories in the rows and Input 3 had No_Channel and No_Category in the POV and Brands in the rows.
    I have since modified the forms so all 3 Input forms have the same members in the POV (these are No_ICP and No_Function) and also have the same members in the Page (Local_Input and SC_No_Scenario).  As part of the change I also have Channels, Categories and Brands in the rows of all 3 Input forms (although each Input form has different members from the Channel, Category or Brand dimensions)
    Anyway, even after making these changes, the business rule runs multiple times.  (I did notice that when I Save data in the Category form the rule runs once.  When I run Save data in the Brand form the rule runs twice and when I Save data in Channel form the rule runs 3 times.)
    Very strange - and very frustrating.  (Rule takes 34 seconds to run, which is almost too long.  Multiply that by 2 or 3 times and it's much too long of a wait.)

  • Business Rule to folder, how?

    Sorry for the newbie question, I have a good deal of experience with Essbase but am finding Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2 a little strange...
    As administrator I create folders to hold Business Rules, from Hyperion Planning, under Business Rule Folders, create new folder.
    Now the manual tells me to use 'Calculation Manager', but does not say where to find this.
    In the absence of this being accessible from Hyperion Planning or Workspace I go to EAS, create a new business rule and then log back into Hyperion Planning and can see that business rule is now available to launch under 'Tools > Business Rules'
    However, I cannot seem to find a way to move this business rule into my folder structure.
    Can anyone advise; -
    1. Am I accessing the right calculation manager
    2. If yes to above is there an extra step to put it in an appropriate folder, and if so where. If not where do I find the 'Calculation Manager' in question?
    And yes, I am using the same admin user at all points in the process. And yes task list, form et al forms / folders work fine for me.

    The Business Rules folder within Hyperion Planning is only used when you have enabled Calculation Manager as you chosen option of calculation type when creating the application.
    When you first created the application you would have been given an option of Business Rules or Calculation manager on the very first screen. If you chose Business Rules then the Business Rules folder section within Hyperion Planning means nothing. However if you selected Calculation Manger at setup then Business Rule folders will allow you to group you Rules created from within Calculation Manager.
    The choice though of Business Rules was removed by the version you are running
    To get to Calculation Manager, Navigate->Administer->Calculation Manager.
    If you cannot see it then you havent got Calculation Manager running or setup.
