    Hi,
the best place to get an intial overview of the pharma business processes is to look at the solution map. This can be found here: http://www.sap.com/industries/lifesciences/index.epx . On the right there is an area called "SAP Business Maps for Life Sciences".
    I hope this helps.

  • Business Process for Paper Industry

    Dear all
I have done a business process study for a paper industry.Where they have different varieties of paper which has different variants GSM,BF- Bursting Factor,Shade & Width.
Generally the customer orders are grouped to match the Dekle size(Paper Width) and the manufacturing program is designed manually according to the width of the paper. After production the goods are despatched to corresponding customers.
They have a power plant to produce Power & by product steam .The Power generated is used for home consumption as well as they do sell the power.
Can anybody suggest me a good process to map the power plant and Paper plant.
Expecting your suggestions for Planning the manufacturing according to width wise and production execution for different customer orders.

    Hi,
For the Paper Industry, IS-Mill will be best suited.
All your Scenarios will be covered with this.
Depending upon your Width: You can combile your Sales Order/Production Orders (Order Combination)
The Big Bundle of PAper which you get at the end of the process you can have the Original Batch concept.
Your settlement will be as per your Sales Order quantity.
For better understanding of the processes refer below link:

  • SAP Business one for GAS Industry

    Dear Experts,
My client is in GAS Manufacturing Industry. We calibrated multiple gases as per client requirement. we sale the gases sometimes with cylinder, some time cylinder on rentle besis and refilling the cylinder.
Pls tell me how to manage the below process in SAP.
    1. Receipt of empty cylinder from customer.
    2. Production of Gases & filling it in cylinder.
    3. The rent calulation of cylinder from the date of Invoiced to the date of receipt of empty cylinder.
    4. Ageing report cylinderwise.
    5. The history of cylinder (how manytimes cylinder refilled)
    Regards
    Datta Kharat

    hi
In my opinion u would require to manage the cylinder with serial number
when u receive the cylinder from the customer to be filled in that case u can receive it in  form of putting the minus sign in front of the quantity and could receive in whatever warehouse u want that would increase the quantity of cylinder received in that particular warehouse
    issue 2
i would like to know that what exact problem u are having in this concern ?
    issue 3
the return of cylinder i belie would be as per the payment period defined so u can define a account for return of cylinder in the freight setup and while filling the document u can fill the amount keeping in mind per day cost of cylinder * nu of payment period defined and if there is a delay u can raise a  invoice stating late charges
hope the few points are worth trying

  • Business Process for Cement Industry

    Hello all,
    I am an Indonesia
    I am new to SAP
I just graduated from college, now I work in a cement company
The company uses SAP, I was placed in the department of business processes
Without going through the training process, I was asked to understand the business processes in SAP that they use. They gave me access to the development server.
But it's still hard for me to understand the business process.
Can anyone help me? from where I had to start
    I apologize if any mistakes...
    Thanks..

    Hi
That is ot correct to udnerstand the business process from SAP. it is difficult.
your company needs to provide the existing Business Process scenarios and how are they mapped to SAP with all scenarios documentation. Then, it would become easy for understand and digest and take care of issues.
    Thanks,

  • Business scenarios for the Steel industry

    Dear All,
I need the various business scenarios used in the steel industry for the procurement and inventory management. In case anyone have worked on an implementation project for Steel industry can you please guide me which are the major scenarios common to all steel industries?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Here are a few scenarios which I have worked:
1.Steel is usually procured in the form of plates of different dimensions (length, width & thickness).
To capture this, you can activate material class (class 001) for material master.
You can create your own class and have these dimensions as characteristics.
While creating material codes, you can capture the dimensions as characteristic values..
This way, you can maintain the uniqueness of material codes in the system.
    2. Steel is usually procured in bulk from various sources, both domestic and imports.
As such, the price of the same material may vary depending upon the source and also when it was procured.
Hence, it becomes a necessity to manage the different lots separately.
You can activate batch management in inventory or better still, Split valuation by batch to handle this.
    3. If steel is procured for specific project, then the purchase requisition/purchase order will be for specific Project (WBS element).
This means you will be working with a/c assign.categ "Q"
    4. You can have Order unit that is different from base unit (Stock keeping unit.)
you can maintain suitable conversion factors for the same.
    5. While issuing steel to Production, the big steel plates may be cut into smaller pieces and issued.
So, you can have a different unit of issue in material master along with conversion factors.
    6. If your client is having tender system for procurement, then you can have the RFQ to handle this.
You can have different loading factors to assign different weightages for vendors while maintaining Quotations.
You can go for an enhancement to RFQ screen to capture extra fields relating to tender.
You can have a Z form to output tender comparative statement as per client requirement.
Hope the above info is useful to you.

  • Business Process for Casting Iron industry

    Hi All,
We are going for a implementation for a casting iron industry... can you please let me know what will be the business process required for such industry.
    Thanking you all in advance
    Rgds
    Toshniwal

    Hi there,
The BUSINESS process should be determined and explained by the business - this is the purpose of the blueprint.
In the blueprint phase you will build-up an inventory of all the business processes from your client (AS-IS) you can then map them to SAP processes and these become the TO-BE processes.
As to perhaps SAP solution, your project manager should know what industry solution (if any) is being implemented.
I would imagine that for this industry you would implement FI, CO-PA, PP, MM and SD - at least.

  • Business Content for Industry Solution Aerospace and Defence (A & D)

    Hi,
We would like to implement BI for one of the organization where ERP SAP R/3 IS Aerospace and Defence (A & D) is already implemented. I tried to see business content for A & D, but could not find. Could anybody advise me where anything is available for A & D?
    Thanks and Best regards
    Rajendra

All business content is available in the helpfile (help.sap.com). For your IS however, the link in the helpfile seems to be dead.
This either means there's an error in the online helpfile, or there's simple no business content available...
    Try contacting SAP to verify?

    Hi Dan,
Ther is no such standard guide or practice availabe in the documentation form for the implementation process.Help guide available with SAP B1 is sufficient to let you know all the functionality available. As far as business process concern,Implementator has to study the process and customize the software accordingly.During the Implementation process you can take the help either from forum or through rxperts directly.

  • Need BOM related solution for Textile Industry (Weaving proces)

    HIi,
    Made to Order Strategy:
Every times customer sends the specification of product. Specification format as given below:
    Ex. 80x100/154x80*3-118u201D 4/1 Twill
    Details of specifications:
80: Count of EPI (Ends Per Inch)
100: Count of PPI (Picks Per Inch)
         154: EPI
         80: PPI
         3: Insertation
         118u201D u2013 Width in Inch
4/1 Twill : Design of Fabric
    Operations Details:
    1 Warping
    2. Sizing
    3. Weaving
    4. Quality Inspection
    5. Packing
    As Is Business Process:
There are mainly four production lines viz. Warping, Sizing, Weaving and Quality Inspection. For all the production lines the individual machine work centers will be as listed below with brief description:
    1.     Sectional Warping:
A kind of Warping specially used to prepare fabrics for shirting. In sectional warping dyed yarns are used to prepare warping beam. The end constraint of sectional warping is 720 ends at a time. The actual capacity of Sectional warping is 800 MTR/min.  This activity is job work for DEESAN group.
    2.     Direct warping:
Direct warping process is used to prepare warping beam. The end constraint of warping is 1088 ends per beam. Machine width of the beam in 2200 mm, speed of warping varying from 300 MTR to 1200 MTR per minute depending upon the construction required. It has backup procedure for next round. Uploading speed   for single yarn is 8 yarn / min / person.
    3.      Sizing:
Sizing process is used to prepare specific number of EPI/ beam as per the requirement of construction. A calculated no of warp beam used to prepare a single sizing beam. Speed of sizing 45 to 55 MTR / minute depending on the requirement of fabric.
    4.     Preparation of Drawing:
This process is used to preparation of new drawing for the loom machine. Drawing includes frame & reed. It will take 12 hr for 2 persons to prepare a single drawing i.e. 8000 ends per shift. This activity given as job work to some group of people.
    5.     Weaving:
Two types of weaving machines used are CAM and DOBBY. Fabric to fabric PPI is varying, the capacity of loom machine depends upon the PPI so the capacity of loom machines varying with the type of fabric. CAM is used specially for plain fabrics.
    6.     Quality Inspection:
The beams of fabrics coming from looming machine are inspected on Inspection machine. 100% fabrics are inspected on QA machine for further grading, which is then bifurcated in Export, Local and chindi type.
    7.     Rolling:
Rolling machine is used for rolling of inspected fabric on card board rolls according to the quality of fabric. A roll contain of maximum 350 MTR of fabric. Which are then packed with LDPE followed by HDPE with appropriate coding on rolls.
    Material Requirement:
    For ex. 80x100/154x90*3-118u201D 4/1 Twill
    Order Qty.: 20000 M
Currently they are using single level BOM.
Formulas for calculate raw material requirements as given below:
Warp wt / mtr = (EPIWidthCrimp) /(1693*Count of EPI)
              = (154 * 118 * 1.025)/(1693 * 80)
              = 0.137524
              = 0.138 Kg/Mtr
Weft wt / mtr  = (PPIInsertationWidth * Crimp) /(1693*Count of PPI)
              = (9031181.025)/(1693100)
              = 0.192891
              = 0.193 Kg/Mtr
    Total Qty req:
    Warp = 0.138 * 20000 + add 5% loss
         = 2898 KG
    Weft = 0.193 * 20000 + add 4% loss
         = 4014 KG
    Packaging material requirement :
    1. Paper tube = Total order qty / approximately for 300 m 1 paper tube required + 5% loss
              = 20000 / 300 *1.05
              = 70
    2. HDPE sheet = No. of paper tube * 0.4 KG
          = 70 * 0.4
         = 28 KG
    3. LDPE sheet = No. of paper tubes * 0.15 KG
              = 70 * 0.15
              = 10.5 KG
Chemical consumption in terms of yarn on KG basis. Its combination of 4-6 chemicals depends on construction to construction also material availability.
Note: We will consume chemicals against cost center.
    Production planning at execution time:
    Sizing and warping calculation:
    1.     Sizing :
    EPI per inch = 154
    On loom will be = 154 * 1.025
               = 157.85
    Total no of ends for 118u201D width = 157.85 * 118
                        = 18626
    Add one more ends per 1000 ends = 18626 / 1000
                        = 19 ends
    Total no of ends  = 18626 + 19
              = 18645 for  sizing
    Warping :
Warping m/c capacity of output is 1088 Ends per set/beam.
    Speed of machine 300-1200 MPM.
So for sizing we need 18645 ends. Now we want to calculate no warp set required for sizing & no. of ends per warp set.
    Ends required per set = 18645 / 18 = 1036
         i.e. 18 * 1036 = 1 Sizing set
We need total yarn on KG basis
    Issue related to BOM:
    1.     How We can feet below 2 issues in BOM
    a.     we want to calculate RM(Yarn) material requirement in Unit of  u201CENDu201D
NOTE: Procurement of Raw material Unit- KG as well as it depends no. of ends required for warp set / beam. i.e. its multiple of yarn cone required for 1 warp set.
As per Bom of Raw Martial Unit- Ends (EA)
    b.     Also we want to calculate no of warp set required for sizing and no of ends required for warping process.

    Hi Pankaj,
Hope you might have completed the project for Textile industry. I need to know implementation in Textile and some specific process. If you can share some documentation for Textile industry would be very helpful for me. My id k.anamika06 at gmail

  • EP60 :  Business Package for Communication & Exchange

Hello, I see that the Business Package for Communication isn't supported on SAP EP 6.0 SP2.  Is there any other package available which can be used for Exchange integration and EP60 SP2?  Sorry if this is an obvious answer but I am new to portals and part of our project sign off was the ability to do exchange integration.

    Hi Sandra,
Please note that the Business Package for Communication was only available for SAP EP 5.0. Newer releases of SAP EP contain the groupware (GW) functionalities and some GW iViews automatically as soon as KM is installed with the EP. The integration with MS Exchange 2003 should work. If you look for iViews such as Send EMail, Create Appointment, Show availability and Room Calendar, you can use the iViews shipped by SAP. If however you need the EMail inbox or the personal calendar and tasks, then the native OWA iViews are the way to go. For further details please refer to the SAP NetWeaver admin guide http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/0c/30d624a0fae949902f7a4b2a8f98bd/frameset.htm.

  • Business Package for Communication with NW04 and Exchange 2003?

Hi, we are evaluating opportunities to realize a groupware integration in the SAP Portal EP60SP2. A upgrade to Netweaver is planned, so the possible solution should work with Netweaver too. Our Exchange version is 2003.
I'm thinking about the standard SAP Groupware-Integration in combination with the Business Package for Communication.
<b>Has anyone expirences with the Business Package for communication, Netweaver and Exchange 2003, yet?</b>
I know, it's not officially supported, but maybe it works.
With the OWA-iViews we've got problems to implement our Styleguide and to devide into different iViews. The informations shown in the iViews of the Business Package are adequate and we would save ActiveX.
<b>Is there another solution that works?</b>
<b>Are there other iViews from 3rd party developers, that show Outlook informations?</b> Has anyone realized something like this in a project yet?
I would be grateful for any ideas.

  • Business Components for Java & XML

In the application I am currently developing, I am using XML metadata to communicate between a web browser and servlets (the xml is parsed by a servlet using an XSL stylesheet to output plain html). To build the XML, I am using the XML SQL utility and the following code:
    try{
    dset = new OracleXMLDataSetExtJdbc(conn, (Reader)sqlStr);
    dset.refreshDataSet();
    }catch (Exception ex){}
    OracleXMLDocGen doc = (OracleXMLDocGen) new OracleXMLDocGenString();
    OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(dset);
    qry.setRaiseException(true);
    qry.getXML(doc, qry.DTD);
My question involves Oracle's Business components for Java. We have recently been doing more research into this technology and the features of it are quite appealing. However, as far as I can tell, there is no way to use the Oracle XML Utilities in conjunction with the BC4J. ie. XML is created based on a view object, not a SQL query to the Database.
Does anyone know of any way of acheiving this XML generation based on a BC4J foundation?

A BC4J View Object is effectively a Java component that represents a database query.
The key difference is that the view object exposes a rowset API to work with which is
fully updateable, fully scrollable, and automatically coordinated with underlying business logic which you have encapsulated into your companion entity objects (another BC4J Framework building-block component). View objects can also be used to create any interesting hierarchy of master/detail/detail queried database information using "View Links" to link the View Objects together. This allows you to effectively work with a "tree" of data that is perfectly shaped and filtered to the needs of the task at hand -- including self-referential "parts-explosion" kind of view links.
In JDeveloper 3.1, BC4J ships with a utility class called oracle.jbo.xml.XmlRowSetRenderer which automatically supports rendering the results
of any view object (and its "tree" of view-linked view objects) as XML, either in DOM format or into a Writer.
In JDeveloper 3.2 (the next major release) the B2B XML features of the BC4J framework are further enhanced by supporting true, bidirectional XML-in and XML-out for any view object. This means that an XML message can be "fed" to any view object and it natively knows how to handle inserts, update, deletes and (most importantly) enforcement off all shared business logic from the underlying, related entity objects.
