Business systems group setting in location master

Hello experts,
I am currently in the process of trying to set up the integration models for a second R3 system to be connected to one APO system. All of the locations / plants for the first R3 system were created under BSG1. The locations / plants for the second R3 system were created under BSG2.
I have identical product in both R3 systems. They have the same material numbers. The materials have existed in APO for quite some time under BSG1. When I try to send the material numbers from the second R3 system, I get an error that the materials already exist in a different business systems group. I changed the config for the second R3 system to be BSG1 (same as first r3 system). But now I cannot create an integration model for my plants, because they already exist under BSG2.
If I change my locations / plants to BSG1 would that correct my initial error message? Is there a way to change the business system group of a location once a location already exists in APO?
FYIu2026 I tried using /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS to delete the locations and resend them, but /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS doesnu2019t seem to do anything. After I run the program, I still have all of the locations in APO, whether the location was flagged for deletion or not.
Thanks,
Matthew Bruckner

Hi Matthew Bruckner
do you set deletion flag to your location master ? If not, please set deletion flag at first, then please delete your location by using /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS .
To set deletion flag to your location, please perform following.
1. Open transaction /n/sapapo/loc3
2. From the menu, select "deletion flag".
(the location should be de-assigned from related data like product, model)
3. delete your location by using /SAPAPO/DELETE_LOCATIONS .
And if you have same location or same location product, I recommend you to add some kind of information to your location and product by using CIF user exit.
Please take a look at my comment in following thread.

• Whr should maintained a business system group in SAP APO

hi gurus,
where should i maintain business system group in SAP APO
can u explain me, what is the process, how it will work, why need BSG in APO
prasad

Hi,
We maintain Business System Group in APO IMG.
IMG >> SCM Basis >>Integration >> Basic Settings for Creating the System Landscape >> Maintai n Business System Group
In this IMG activity, we determine the assignment to a business system group of this system and the ERP systems that are to be connected. By doing this, you create areas with the same naming conventions. These guarantee that the same names are used for master data and also their synchronization in distributed system landscapes.
In addition to the ERP systems, this system too must be assigned to a business system group (BSG) as an independent logical system.
Proedure :
u2022 Choose New Entries.
u2022 On the New Entries: Overview screen, specify the following information for the business system group:
o An alphanumerical key (maximum of 10 characters).
o A description of your choice
u2022 Save your entries.
Example :
An SCM System is to be connected with the two ERP systems A and B in which two different materials (for example a hammer and a screw), have the same material number (100). The two materials are to be represented as two different products in the SCM system.
Assign The two ERP systems to different BSGs. Assign the SCM system to one of the two BSGs.
u2022     ERP system A (material number 100 = hammer) -> BSG A
u2022     ERP system A (material number 100 = screw) -> BSG B
u2022     SCM system -> BSG A
Hope this gives you insight.

• BUSINESS SYSTEM GROUP

What is a business system group please explain in the simple words?

Hi,
BSG is concept used in SAP APO, as the APO is part of SCM server and this server in separate than the R/3 server. U can couple more than one R/3 server to one SCM server. It might possible that every R/3 server has its diffrent nomenclature system for Material so in BSG the similar nomenclature system are grouped for streamline processing.

• Business system * is not assigned to a business system group

I am running XI3.0 (SP12), Oracle 9.2.0.6 on a Windows 2003 Cluster Server.
I am trying to import some config from the Integration Directory from Dev into QA but I am getting the following error:
IMPORT XI 3.0 Design Objects
Business system XIT is not assigned to a business system group with the ID (XISystemGroup)
I have copied my Dev SLD into my QA SLD.
Has anyone else come across the error??

Barry,
You should ideally have assigned Business systems in ur QA landscape to 1 group & Business systems in your dev landscape to another group. Also , hope you have created transport targets for all ur Business systems in dev environment. In ur QA SLD , you should have two entries for each business system , something like
DEV-BS-1 -> transport target -> QA-BS-1
QA-BS-1 -> transport source -> DEV-BS-1
Thanks

• System not assigned to any business system group

In transaction /SAPAPO/MAT1 an error occurs when I try to create a new product.
Error message: " System SC1CLNT100 not assigned to any business system group".
When I received this error I created business system group in SLD and assigned my system to this new business system group.
Then I went to transaction RZ70 and executed Data Collector without Job scheduling.
But when start transaction /SAPAPO/MAT1 again the error /SAPAPO/MAT030 still occurs.
What should be done to make changes, which I made in SLD visible for the system?
Thank you in advance,
Kind regards,
Maria Kazakova

I assume you assigned this BSG in the IMG in APO
"As an independent logical system, the APO System must, in addition to the SAP R/3 Systems, be assigned to a business system group (BSG)."

• Creating System Preference "Sets" or "Locations"?

I recently began frequenting coffee shops to utilize their free WiFi access away from the distractions of home. When I am there I generally change a few system preferences from my usual norm like changing the default AirPort network, adding the requirement to use my password to turn off the screen saver, change my desktop or screen saver images, etc.
Is there any way under 10.3.9 to save different sets of preferences for my User Account (like "Home", "Office", "Coffee Shop") and apply them with a single "click" or menu selection of some kind?
I realize I could do this with separate User Accounts but that is problematic for accessing files, saving application preferences, etc. and is a pretty rough and clumsy workaround. I'm looking for something more elegant and targeted.

Scott,
Network "Locations" should help you achieve some of your objectives.
1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and click Network.
2. Choose New Location from the Location pop-up menu.
3. Enter settings for each configuration you want to use in that location.

• Business systems Group

Gents
currently using SCM4.1, we have a situation whereby more than 1 R/3 system is connected to the APO system. However in the near future the product numbers will be aligned for each R/3 system. therefore product 1 will exist in each R/3 system, and the assumption at the moment is that they will be the same product description.
Questions
1. Will the creation of different BSG's for each R/3 system control the flow of data between the APO system and the R/3 systems. Also is it necessary to create a different BSG for each R/3 system.
2. Is it essential to use the exit APOCF005 to prefix the product master data from each R/3 system
I have read the SAP help and it infers that the suer exit should be invoked. however if someone has a real life situation this would help the understanding.

Guys,
I incorrectly stated that the products would have the same description, I menat to say they would have different descriptions.

• Business System Groups - CMS

Hi,
I am following "How to Transport XI Content Using CMS", managed to install the CMS and finished up to 57th point. As per the general SLD preparations, i need to create BS Groups, what my doubt is?
a) while creating a group for DEV, I have assigned the Integration Server of DEV from the drop down box. To create a group for QAS, does i need to assign IS of DEV or QAS? If it is IS of QAS, which is not available in the dropdown box. I am stuck up without any clue? plz help me!
b) If any body is having the "How to Configure Groups and Transport Targets" document, plz forward it [email protected] or else give me the link. I have searched for this document in the Market Place but cldn't find out.

Hi,
See It depends upon your landscape..
If you want to transfer the Dev to Quality..
--The basis team should create the all respective track..
--After activating your Objects in IR ,ID you will get another option in change list there you have to rclick and click on transport automatically transfered to QA..
The other way is through file you can transfer..export ,import... options..
-- this is you have to export the objects by SWCV or namesapce wise .. the all object will be stored under one path in server .. next you have to prepare the excel sheet you objects ..then the basis team will transfer the tpz file to qa and there it will be imported..
Please see the CMS transfer links..

• ATP Check Issue - No business system could be determined for logical system

Dear all
Got an issue while executing ATP check on a planned order in product view,
with a message: "No business system could be determined for logical system"
CIF setting wise:
regular business system group maintained and assigned in place,
master data wise:
business system group info fine in product master,
Is there anywhere suggested to check under ATP setting:
category, check mode, business event, check control/check instruction?
Your kindest enlighting is appreciated,
Thank you,
mandy

Dear Mandy,
usually this error is caused by a missing customizing entry:
spro:
Integration with SAP Components
Integration via APO Core Interface (CIF)
Basic Settings for Creating the System Landscape
- Maintain Business System Group
- Assign Logical System and Queue Type :
Please read the documentation for these two transactions and create the systems.
You need to specifiy there all systems that are in your BSG. The documentation for the customizing of 'name logical system' in APO says:
To enable the transfer of data between SAP R/3 and SAP APO, you need to name both the SAP APO system in which you are working and the SAP R/3 system to which you want to transfer data as logical systems.
I hope this helps.

• Business Systems and Related Integration Servers

Each Standalone Business System has a corresponding Related Integration Server.
Suppose I am Developing a scenario for a Business System in the development environment, I have a related XI Development Integration Server (call it XD1) then I want to transport the changes to the test environment. Since this business system is defined to only point to XD1 as the integration server, in the test environment I want it to use the Test Integration Server (call it XD2). But the Business SYstem is pointing to XD1 only!
What I am saying is: Given that one Business System only points to one Integration Server, do I need one Business System for Development (call it BS_DEV), and one for test (call it BS_TST)?
Kind Regards,
Tony.

If you have only 1 sld and you want to move the XI objects from development(XIDEV) to Quality(XIQA).
you will have to define the 2 business system groups and the related transport targets in the SLD..
1st transport group XIDEV --
BS_DEV will have XIDEV as the integration server.
2nd transport group XIQA --
BS_QA will have XIQA as the integration server.
So you will have to name the business system differently as DEV and QA

• Difference between Business service, Business system and Business process

Hi,
Can anyone tell me the difference between Business service, Business system and Business process?
Thanks,
Harikumar. S

Hi,
Business system
It is a logical system from a business point of view.
One or more logical systems that belong together from a business point of view is called a group of Business system group. A business system group represents a unit within a company or organization that can be defined according to legal, economic, administrative or geographic factors.
The objects in a business system group are uniquely identified by a uniform numbering system.
Business process
Business procedure within an enterprise that uses resources and can involve activites from a number of different cost centers in a controlling area.
When executing a business process, activities can be utilized for several cost centers of a controlling area.
Business service
It’s a third party system.
All these belong to a Business Scenario which is
Description of the flow of business processes according to a business typology. A business scenario represents a template for a business process, which runs within a particular area of a company process. All processes required to completely process the task are listed in chronological order in the scenario. Business scenarios can be described graphically, in either aggregated or detailed form (EPC). Example: Direct sale to industrial recipient

• Unable to assign Business System in Configuration

Hi,
I have created a new Technical system in SLD. I have also configured a Business system for it. But when i am trying to assign this system in Configuration, "Assign Business system", i am not able to see the newly created business system.
Please help me.
Regards,
Siva Maranani.

We have already assinged the Integration server to their respective business system groups while creating the Business system groups.
BSG: XI_DEV --> UKD_400( Integration Server DEV )
BSG : XI_QA  ---> INTEGRATION_SERVER_UKQ( Integration Server QA)
As per documentation, the business systems should be automatically assigned to their respective Groups based on their association with Integration Server.
But, we are not seeing this behaviour, both the Integration servers are being assigned to the same Business System Group.
Please help me understand if i am something in the configurations.
Thanks

• Unable to Export Business System

Hi ,
I am on XI 7.0 spo9.I am trying to transport from dev to qa .
I am able to easily export (login using pisuper ) Technical system.
However while exporting Business system .when it gives me to download a file I get an error .I have the necessary authorisation
Kindly help

Hi,
First, you have to start the SLD.
To transport business you must first of all create business system groups, then associate the business systems with the group and finally map your business systems.
To create a group, proceed as follows:
> Business Systems
> Click on the drop-down next to Group and select Edit Groups
> Create a group for each environment (eg DEV, TST, PRD). Specify for each group which Integration Server is used.
To assign business systems to a group, proceed as follows:
> Business Systems (Group = all)
> Select your Business System
> Click on the Integration tab.
> Select the related Integration Server (which is associated with a group - see step 1)
To map your DEV Business Systems to TST Business Systems etc., proceed as follows:
> Business Systems
> Select the group of your choice
> Select your Business System
> Click on Transport
> Click on Add/Change Target
> Select the Target Group and System

• How can ID automatically change the business system while importing?

Hi gurus,
There are many scenarios in our PI system. It will be a tedious work if we don't use transport system(CTS+).
You know we have to create the scenarios manually in Integration Directory since the business system is different.
The question is as below (BTW:We are using local SLD for dev, qas, prd separately):
If we don't use transport system, and only use export and import functionality, and create business system group, can we make the ID automatically change the name of business system while importing?

Hi Xinjiang,
You can follow below method.
In Quality system transport targets will be DEV(Dev pi system) ---> QEA(Quality PI system)
In Production system transport targets will be DEV(Dev pi system) ---> PEA(Production PI system)
This will ensure that you does not need to create separate request in Quality system. You can use the same request created in Dev to transport to production system. This will reduce your efforts of transportation. This is the same type of approach that is followed in ECC system as well or next solution is creating transport target in each sld system as you mentioned below,
we have three local SLD, so we need to create TS and BS for PI DEV in SLD QAS, and create TS and BS for PI QAS in SLD PRD,
Following link will help you for defining transport target.
