BusinessObjects Enterprise HOST NAME PROBLEMS

As we can find in other posts, we know that BO has problems with underscore in the host name.
I read in some posts that the problem can be solved by writing the IP address instead of the host name when we use Infoview or whatever we need.
I've done two BO enterprise installations in two different Vitual Machines (made with Virtual PC).
I know that SAP guarantees that BO works fine only on VMware platform with the host name without underscores.
The host on the first Virtual Machine was named correctly, but after the installation I changed it inserting an underscore; after this the Infoview login interface didn't work. So I tried to write the IP address and It worked properly.
Trying to use Designer and Translation Manager I had  only to use the IP address instead of the current host name.
The host on the second Virtual Machine was named with an underscore, and after the installation I launched the Infoview login interface that didn't work. Again I tried to write the IP address and It worked properly, but in this case I couldn't launch the Designer and I couldn't import the universe from cms with the Translation Manager!!!
I got this exception opening the Designer:

I got this exception importing the universe from cms in the Translation Manager:
[repo_proxy 37] UniverseFacade::importUniverse - (Helpers::InfoStore::ObjectFileHandle::extractContent) Local file copy has failed Errore del File Repository Server: La directory C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Dati applicazioni\Business Objects\Business Objects 12.0\Universes\@l3_dwhsrv_6400\Folder 95/Universes\ richiesta u00E8 inesistente.(hr=#0x80042a4a)
I'd like to know if:
1) Is this a problem because of the Virtual PC virtual machine?
2) Is this a problem because of the BO problem with underscore in the host name?
and
3) How can I resolve this problem without changing the host name?
Thank you for your attention,
Giorgio

Hi Agliano,
changing the Hostname of a Server after BO is installed is a bad idea ! The WAR files for your Tomcat are in some sort "hardcoded".
I would suggest re- deploying your war files on the Tomcat would fix this issue. Check SAP Note - 1308027 for assistance.

  • Host name problem

    Hi,
whenever I excute the web application ,it is not showing the result.I found that there is  a problem in configuring of host name by using the function module "RSBB_URL_PREFIX_GET".The value for E_URL_SERVER is in the format  ls3022 rather than ls3022.wdf.sap-ag.de.
So it has the only host name but not the domain (including the extension). How can i change this value to complete host name(including the domain).

  • DNS Host name problem

Hi, I am a newbie to AS. Nice to join the family and meet u all.
I got some problem during installation of AS 2005Q2, when I install and select 'Config Now' option, I cannot pass since the DNS hostname always fail.
If I select 'Config Later', I will find something is missing, like asadmin tool is not avaiable.
Since I will use the Ip only, can I disable or bypass the DNS host name? since no matter how I enter it always fail.
Please advise, thank you very much in advance. :)

Need some sanity checking here. We have an existing intranet that uses SP 2010 Foundation (all out of the box) using SQL Express. We are standing up a brand new 2013 Farm on new hardware in a new network which will use host name site collections.
    According to
TechNet this is a supported upgrade path.
My thought is to do a database attach method from the old farm to the new one to get the product edition upgraded. Then to convert path-based site collections to host-named site collections I would need to follow the method described
here which is to backup and restore to the hnsc of my choice.
Something seems off about this though. Can I just attach to the new SQL instance and run the Mount-SPContentDatabase  or is there something about the backup-spsite and restore-spsite commands that does a conversion??
    Thanks!
    Love them all...regardless. - Buddha

You need to do the Mount-SPContentDatabase to upgrade the schema of the database from 2010 to 2013.  Then you'll need to do the backup and restore to change the sites over to Host Named Site Collections.  Both steps will be required to accomplish
what you want since you can't backup a 2010 site and restore it to a 2013 farm.

  • Host name problems

    Hi,
I have a server set up with something.info as the host name, and everything is set up so that I can point the browser to something.info and it reaches the server. But I keep getting alert messages that my host name has changed, at random, to something.info.home. I have done absolutely nothing to provoke the change, and when I change it back to something.info it won't be long before it changes to something.info.home.
Is there a reason for this?
    Thanks.

    Hi Agliano,
changing the Hostname of a Server after BO is installed is a bad idea ! The WAR files for your Tomcat are in some sort "hardcoded".
I would suggest re- deploying your war files on the Tomcat would fix this issue. Check SAP Note - 1308027 for assistance.

  • SSO installation host name problem

    Hi all,
I am trying to install OCS single box on my server. I have successfully installed oracle storage and infra. When it came to SSO it asks for valid host name and port number. My system is in workgroup. I am trying to give my server name but it is not accepting. Is it compulsory that my system need to be in a valid domain.
    Pls guide me

    Create mailsystem
Follow the installation instructions, and run umconfig (located under $ORACLE_HOME/oes/bin on Linux) to configure your mailserver. Make sure you remember the usernames/passords, as you will need them later on. This will start a Java program, and you should make sure you run both menu selections, starting with the MailStore database configuration, and then run the Middle Tier configuration.
    Create user login
Now you want to create users in OID (Oracle Internet Directory) by accessing the URL http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/oiddas and log in as orcladmin. Create accounts and make sure you grant rights as Collaboration suite users.
    Create mail account
Create an E-mail account for these users from this URL: <midtier hostname>:<port>/um/admin/UMAdminLogin.uix and log in as orcladmin. You will now be presentet with another login, where you should log in as UMADMIN. Create your mail users, and create a mail super-user that may be used to create and administer mail later on.
    Create calendar account
To create a calendar account for your users, go to <midtier hostname>:<port>/ocad-bin/ocad.cgi?object=nodeadm
To log in as calendar administrator, leave the username empty, and enter the calendar SYSOP password. Choose Calendar management, push the "Go"button to list all users, and push the "Provision Calendar service to user" button.
    Create a Files domain
From <midtier hostname>:<port>/files/app/AdminLogin, create a files domain (you only do this once). Files accounts are automatically provisioned for all users registered in OID. The Files superuser you created during installation, must also have an OID account. Log in to files as this user to restore deleted files from backup, administer users and control quotas.
Enjoy your excellent new mail and files server :-)

  • Windows 7 IPv4 resolution of own host name problem

    Hi,
    Preconditions:
I have a Windows 7 SP1 with 2 network adapters. LAN1 has a static IP address and shall be used by our applications.
LAN2 uses DHCP. DNS or WINS is servers are not available.
For the applications it is necessary that the own FQDN resolves always to the same IPv4 address ( of LAN1).
    I test this with the command "ping -4 -n 1 own.fqdn".
    Problem:
When LAN2 has a ethernet connection, but there is no DHCP server it gets a autoconfiguration IP address starting with 169.254 .
In this case the own FQDN resolves to the  169.254.X.Y address and confuses our application.
    Questions:
How can I avoid this change of the name resolution?
How decides the OS to which adapters address the own FQDN resolves?
    Thanks
    gs2013

    Hi,
Network one is not connected to the network you think it should be connected to but that it is in fact connected to the 169.254.x.y network
    instead of another network.
Windows doesn't make up IP address so if your computer is getting one it is connected to a network with a DHCP server.
please verify that you have the network cards plugged into the network you think they are plugged into and that you haven't reversed them
    accidently
Then make sure you disable the first one when you choose the second one adapter.
Meanwhile, please refer to the article below to force the adapter:

    Hello anyone !

The Universal Installer (2.1.0.15.0) don't accept my network configuration. The host is connected in TCP/IP network using
"obtain IP address & DNS server address automatically"Installation Guide documentation doesn't mention anything thereof, but it seems like AS is constructed to not allow DHCP (dynamic IP). During installation the IP is used in key-generation or something like that.
There is a note possibly referring to configurations without network cards, but nothing about DHCP.

  • Error: There was a problem logging on to SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise

I am trying to use Crystal Reports Enterprise XI 4.0 with BusinessObjects Enterprise 4.0 using a Bex Query on an SAP NetWeaver 7.01 SPS 9 BW system. I have been using the SAP Press book u201CIntegrating SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.x with SAP NetWeaveru201D as my guide, attempting to follow it step by step. Please bear with me as I have only started working with this set of products within the last month. (Very new at this and do not have a very good grounding of the way it all works together. Trying to learn as quickly as possible as I am expected to support this set of tools for our developers / users.)
I have been trying to follow along with the book to get everything connected. At this point, I have BOE set up to attach to the SAP NetWeaver BW system. I have created a test Bex Query on the BW system. From within BOE, using CMC, I can configure the Bex Query as an OLAP connection. I have set it up for SSO. I have also exchanged certificates between the BOE and the SAP NetWeaver systems which I believe will allow the exchange of tokens.
I then go into Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0 on my PC. (I am running Windows 7 64-bit on the PC. I installed the BOE 4.0 suite of client tools except for SAP BO Live Office and SAP BO Analysis for MS Office). I can attach to my BOE system and can browse to see the OLAP connections in the BOE. I then try to select one as the data source for a new report. I then get a pop-up window stating:
       Unable to Logon
There was a problem logging on to SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise.
Please check your logon credentials and make sure your network is properly configured before trying again. If the problem
           persists please contact your Administrator.
I cannot find a log / trace / error file on my PC, the BOE system or the BW system to indicate any additional information as to what the root problem is. Has anyone seen a similar error and might know where I can find more information, how to increase trace levels so that I get some additional information or provide hints as to what the root problem might be?
I am also trying to figure out how the authentication works between the PC, BOE and SAP NetWeaver. If using a token, there has to be consistency with the username (or some value) and I am not certain that is happening. Right now, my BOE sources its UME from the SAP NetWeaver BW system. So its user accounts are in the form SID123/ACCOUNT where SID is the SID of the SAP NetWeaver system and the string u201C123u201D is the client on that SID. When I log into the BOE system from within Crystal Reports, I am using the account in that format whereas the account on the SAP NetWeaver BW system in actuality is only the string ACCOUNT. So is the token stripping the string u201CSID123/u201D from the account name when it is sent so that the accounts match? Or do I have to manually configure some kind of account alias (in the BOE system?) so that the two recognize each other? Or something else?
Any hints or ideas around where I can find additional information or where I have gone wrong, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank-you in advance,
    Deb Nugent.

    Henry,
Many thanks and excellent suggestions. But I am still not able to get this to work and (once again) am stuck.
RE: Server Connections: When I check my server connection, I have not ticked SSL and am using the non-secure server port for my BOE system. When I click on u201CTest connectionu201D, I can successfully log in using my username / password on the SAP NetWeaver BW system. If I tick the SSL box without changing the port, I get the error message u201CFailed to establish a connection. The cause was u201CCannot connect to SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise at this time. Please try again later.u201D If I tick the SSL box and change the port to use the secure server port for the BOE system, I get the same error.
RE: Preferences: I am using the default settings under Preferences -> Network Settings. We do not manually configure proxy settings on our network so I have ticked u201CUse system proxy configurationu201D and under SSL settings, have ticked u201CUse system keystore / trust storeu201D. I have swapped keys between the BOE system and the SAP NetWeaver system but I have not swapped any keys between my PC and the BOE system or the SAP NetWeaver system (which I do not expect to do but am mentioning here in case I am wrong).
RE: BILaunchPad: I do not have any references for BILaunchPad. Is this u201CWeb Intelligence Rich Clientu201D? If so, I tried starting it, it reported an error: u201CAn error occurred at session creation.u201D Details showed u201CSSL mode is being requested but the following argument(s) are not present: passphrase (FWM 01012)u201D I went into the CMC and checked my SAP connections under Authentications. On the tab u201COptionsu201D, there is the section u201CSAP SSO Serviceu201D where I typed in the KeyStore password. When I created the key store file, I only specified a keystore password and did not specify a private key. Originally, I had it set with the private key blank with the correct password on the keystore. I also tried entering the same password as the private keystore and saving it. I verified that the connection services for Web Intelligence had restarted but I still am getting that same message when I try to start the Web Intelligence Rich Client.
At OS level on the BOE server, I logged in as my boe1 account and checked the parameters that can be entered for the PKCS12Tool.jar file that I used to create the ketstore file I had used. There does not appear to be an option for anything other than the keystore password. There is no private key password field listed.
I searched for the FWM 01012 error and found the HTML and PDF help files form SAP explaining errors. However, it only states u201CEnsure that all SSL arguments are presentu201D but gives no details as to what, exactly needs to be checked.
I will be talking with co-workers today to see if any of them can make sense of this (anoterh set of eyes sometimes helps). Any other suggestions about areas to look for addiitonal details / increased traces / logs?
    Deb Nugent.

I have checked IP,DNS,Gateway and more each & everything is well.
    Pls suggest us.
    Pankaj Kumar

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the same shared folder can be accessed by name, but can’t be accessed be IP address and asks for credentials.
Please try to enable the option below on the device which has shared folder:
Besides, check the Advanced Shring settings of shared folder and confrim that if there is any limitation settings.

  • HOW TO DEFINE VIRTUAL HOST NAME IN HPIA64 + SAP R/3 ENTERPRISES 4.7

    Hi all,
I am trying to install sap r/3 enterprises 4.7 with OS as HP-UX and Database as Oracle in a cluster environment.
In cluster environment sap installation should be done on virtual hostname ( package id ). I'm using the env variable SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<VIRTUAL HOSTNAME>.
My cluster is running and I'm able to ping it from network, but at the time of SAP Installation my sapinst starts with the physical host name not with the virtual host name.
What can be the solution ..?
    Thanks,
    Chandresh Pranami.

    Hi Chandresh,
Try executing sapinst with virtual hostname.
    eg. ./sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<VIRTUAL HOSTNAME>.
    This should work.

  • Login problem with E-Recruiting URL, where check host name?

    Hi,
I've set up a standard Recruiter user and assigned him the standard Recruiter security profile. When I run RCF_GENERATE_URLS, I get this URL:
    http://iwdfvm2160.wdf.sap.corp:51080/sap/bc/bsp/sap/hrrcf_start_int?sap-client=200&sap-language=EN&rcfSpId=0003
But I get an "internal error" when I login with my User. Our server's host name is iwdfvm2160.gcsap.com, but the program isn't resolving this. This is probably the cause of the error, but how can I get it to pick up our host name?
We are on E-Recruiting version 6, and it's running on the same box as HCM.
    Thanks, Vlad

    Hello Vlad,
usually the links generated from the report are correct. Only very rare problem might be in the network structure of your company that the internal dns servers can't resolve the server name or the sap servers are in a not reachable network segmant as you never worked with http access to the servers for other applicatiohns.
But if you log on the first time with your user and have not been working with the application yet, the more probable reason for this error is the missing candidate for e-recruiting. Without a candidate you won't be able to work with the application.
Check transaction SLG1. There should be an error "No candidate for User <your username>" or sth. similar.
If so run report RCF_CREATE_USER to get a candidate. Then you should be able to log on.
If you already have a candidate and cannot login check SLG1 and SM21 for error messages. If there are any but you don't feel able to solve the logged problem. Just post the message here. I think someone will be able to help.

  • Problem with OAS Instance Name y Host Name to create trial ssl certificate

    Hi, everyone
I have a problem when creating a trial ssl certificate from Verisign page, affer a live assistance, that page rejected my CSR generated from OAS, saying thay my common name has invalid characters.
My Oracle Application Server installation name: Instance.HostName is:
    IAS_IND01.ind-internet
So, Verisign told me this name can't contain "_" or "-" characters for example.
I need to know if it's possible to change the instance name and if OAS host name changes also if i change server's host name.
I wouldn't like to reinstall all over again.
    Please help.
    Regards
    David

    Hi,
No your AS server will not automatic. even if you change your host name.
If U 'll try to change your host name, be carefull when U 'll try to start you AS instacne
it ' not start anymore , AS user hosts fill to get full quallified name of your host.
    U 've two choices
-1 delete your AS, then change your hosts name, then new installtion of AS
2- If U 've exprience with AS, just breng your AS down, change your hosts name,
U 'll need to do some changes in your AS, just read admininstrator Guide.

  • How to check the host name or rename the host name in Enterprise Manager

    Hello,
How do i check the host name or rename the host name in Enterprise Manager for Oracle 11g?
    Regards,
    Ming Man

there is a shell script called chgip or something
like that is there . I used it for IAS. I beleive the
same is there for database too
Rajesh AlexIf there is, I have not been able to find it.
Off the top of my head, changing the host name involves at least the following (others feel free to add on):
    For listener and connectivity
    - listener.ora
    - tnsnames.ora (on all clients as well)
    - potentially ldap.ora (on all clients as well)
    - init.ora parameter LOCAL_LISTENER
For admin using Enterprise Manager (starting 10g)
    - the contents of the sysman schema
    - the directory name of the OEM agent directory
    - the directory name of the OEM OC4J config directory
    - various config files in the OEM OC4J config directory
Oracle provides the emca to handle this last set.
In addition, the following refer to hosts that are [probably] not local
    - init parameter REMOTE_LISTENER (usually just points to a tnsnames.ora entry naming remote hosts)
    - init parm SMTP_OUT_SERVER
Again, adding to the list might be interesting.
