BusinessObjects XI 3.1 bossosvcacct account for QA(etc) and PRODUCTION

Question

Hi All,
      We are using a bossosvcacct service account in PRODUCTION as suggested and this is working fine for AD authentication.
      QUESTION: What is the best practice for QA and OTHER environments, should we use the same bossosvcacct account or is it better to create a separate one each for QA, INT and DEV etc? If yes, what is the suggested naming convention?

Hi Tube Girl,
It sounds like you may have some configuration issues in your environment.  I see a few confusing things in your post.
First of all, InfoView and the CmcApp are web applications that run on Tomcat.  Tomcat, by default, runs on port 8080.  Therefore, the two URLs you would use, should look like this:
http://<servername>:8080/InfoViewApp
http://<servername>:8080/CmcApp
The CMS (Central Management Server) runs on port 6400 by default.  This is not a port you would ever use through a URL.
If the URL "http://<HOST>:6400/CmcApp/logon.faces" is working for you, then you have likely misconfigured Tomcat to run on the port that the CMS is supposed to run on.
What you need to do, is check the server.xml for your tomcat server and ensure that it is configured to run on port 8080.  You also need to check the web.xml under the /tomcat/webapps/InfoViewApp/WEB-INF directory and the /CmcApp/WEB-INF directories to ensure that the CMS referenced there is the correct TEST CMS name and port.
You will also want to check the CMS configuration to ensure that it is setup to run on port 6400.
If this is just a test machine, it may be worth wild to uninstall and reinstall with the defaults again.  That may be quicker than trying to sort this out.
