Busy searches to Lotus Notes Gateway

Hi
We are running Groupwise 7.02 and want to install a Gateway to Lotus Notes
7 system. After reading the documentation I am not sure if the Gateway
supports busy searches between GroupWise and Lotus Notes.

Lotus Notes Gateway

I have a quick question. In our environment we have users who use Lotus notes and we use GroupWise. Our GroupWise servers are at 7.0.2 latest SP and Lotus notes servers are at version 7. We currently have a GroupWise/Notes gateway ver 3 but I would like to upgrade it to GroupWise Gateway for Lotus Notes ver 7
What is the best way of doing this. I would also like to point our Gateway to the notes server by IP, where do I change this so it doesn't use UNC (Is it in Console One?).
Is there anything else that I should worry about when upgrading ver 3 to ver 7?

Lotus Notes Gateway - Upgrading to notes v7.01

Hello,
I currently have the 7.0.0 version running on a windows xp box, its been running much better than the previous version and the auto-reconnects have been working well. The notes side is getting upgraded to 7.01 (on 5.x now). Is there anything that needs to be done on the gateway?

Secure Search Lotus Notes and NTFS?

How can I do secure search with Lotus Notes and NTFS sources? When configuring Identity Management, I have to choose between Lotus and MSAD. And user names are different between both directories. Any chance to secure both sources with one query?

If user names are different on the two systems, you can't combine them in a single SES instance. You only log on once to SES, so the system wouldn't be able to tell which username to use for each system.
However, this can be done via the federation architecture. You need two SES instances, one connected to AD and one connected to the Lotus Notes native identity plugin.
You will then need to have an attribute in your AD which contains the Notes username. Let's call it LNNAME.
You would then create a federated source on the instance connected to AD, which collects results from the instance connected to the Notes plugin.
When you define your federated source, there is a field called "Search User Attribute". This is the name of the AD attribute which contains the Notes username - LNNAME in our example.
SES then authenticates the user against AD. It then runs federated queries against the Notes system, asserting that the logged in user is a valid Notes user with a certain username, which it gets from the LNNAME attribute.
Naturally this requires trust between the systems. The Notes system has to trust the AD to correctly authenticate and identify the user - even though the Notes password will never be given.

Indexing Lotus Notes bases

I read somewhere in the oracle websites that it was possible to index and search into Lotus Notes bases (.nsf files).
Where can I find more doc on this ? Have anyone tried this ?

Ultra Search would be the Oracle tool to achieve this. However, support for crawling Lotus Notes bases is not included out of the box. You would therefore need to implement your own crawler agent. Ultra Search provides a crawler agent api that can be used to program your own crawler agents. Information about this can be found on OTN in the with the Ultra Search Online Documentation, which is one of the Database documentation books and can currently be found at

Gateway error in sun ONE portal gateway when invoking a Lotus notes channel

Hi Friends,
I have configured a channel in the portal server for integrating it with the lotus notes server. I have to edit the following options in the channel.
servername: <name>
portnumber: 80
username: <username>
userpassword: <password>
This configuration is working fine when I login through http. But when I login through the gateway (https), it gives me error saying
"Unable to connect to host - icemail.
Contact administrator".
But when I use IP ADDRESS instead of server name it is able to open the lotus email normally.
I have pasted the log files below. Kindly help me in solving the issue.

Busy Search Not Working

Hey All - thanks for looking at the post...
I have GWE 7.0.1 Gateway up and running, but am unable to get busy search
to work in either direction.
From GroupWise to Exchange a free busy search is executed and I see it
logged in the GWE gateway logs, but nothing is returned to the GroupWise
client during the busy search even though there are appointments posted for
the day for the Exchange user(s).
From Exchange to GroupWise the busy search returns nothing. I have run
through the manual like 10 times and all configuration options have been
configured with the appropriate options. Anything I am missing that might
not be documented?

I have resolved the problems that I was having and wanted to share what I
found out. Turns out there was a bug in the 1/23/07 file version of the
exgate 7.0.1. A new version was given to me by Novell support, but I don't
know what the timestamp on the file is from novell b/c windows screwed it
up, but I don't see that's it's been released yet on downloads.
The bug was that you could not do a busy search from GroupWise to Exchange
if the primary SMTP namespace for the Active Directory users did not match
the Active Directory domain name. Basically, the gateway would try to
perform a busy search using an LDAP query on username@ADdomainname and
would fail if you gave your users an alternate primary SMTP namespace with
a recipient policy in Exchange.
Hope that helps someone b/c it took me about a week working with Novell to
get it figured out. The gateway support folks (still in the US thank
goodness) were awesome.

GroupWise Gateway 7 / Busy Search

Anyone has problem with Busy Search using GW Gateway 7 between GW 6.5
System and Exchange 2003 Ent R2. I'm getting MS Visual C++ Runtime Library
while doing busy search from GroupWise. Then Gateway terminated. Any
resolutions or work around is much appreciated. Thanks.

Lotus Notes 7.0.1/7.0.2 and SAP Business Workflow

Hi Everyone!
Please help me on this.
My client has received an email from IBM that they could have their SAP Connector free of charge if they are to upgrade their current Lotus connector ver5 to version 7.0.2. This version has included Workflow Integration as part of IBM's integration points with SAP.
Does anyone have an experience on integrating the two? Please share documents or procedures on how to integrate them.
My current configuration is intended for a 1-way communication integration.
I used the report RSWUWFML2 for sending notifications (though in my case, it only sends a message that there were workitems present in the recipient's SAP inbox). The SMTP configuration works fine. The client has not yet purchased the SAP connector.
If the SAP Connector is now available, the 2-way communication will be imposed.
I am planning to configure a 1-way communication integration where it could work either on a 1-way or 2-way communication. Is this possible?
Can I have a configuration (for sending of workitems to Lotus mail or internet mail) which could have a link that connects the recipient to the transaction for approval or workitem execution?

Lotus Notes and SAP Business Workflow

Hi Experts!
If you have an experience or if you have SPECIFIC notes on Lotus Notes/SAP Workflow integration, please share some views on these following questions:
1. The SAP version we are using is ECC6. The client wants to upgrade their Lotus Notes client to V7.0.1 which caters Workflow integration. Do we need to have the Lotus Connector for this? (Workitem should be processed using the Lotus Notes client and there is a link where the apporover can process the workitem.)
2. What are the essential technical specifications for this this integration?
 a. Domino Server Platform
 b. Client Platform
 c. Domino Release
 d. Lotus Notes Client version
 e. Product/connector for the link.
3. What should I use for configuring the notification scenario?
 a. Extended Notifications
 b. RSWUWFML2
 c. SWN_SELSEN
Please provide answers on these.

Am I right to affirm that according to what you've said, there is no Lotus Notes Connector needed for Lotus Notes and SAP Workflow integration?
I actually haven't tested yet the Extended Notification, but from your reply, I think you are confident enough to tell me that it is possible to have a link in the Lotus Notes mail and then this link could bring you to the Document and process it using,of course, the Extended Notification.

Urgent: Lotus Notes and TREX

Hi,
We are planning to use SAPs TREX to search for word documents and ppts embedded within Lotus Notes. However, we have a couple of queries regarding our requirement and would appreciate your help.
1) Is it possible to use the TREX server for indexing documents within Lotus Notes without an Enterprise Portal platform (For Ex., Is it possible to set TREX as the default search engine of Lotus Notes?)?
If the above is not feasible then please read requirement 2:
2) We are currently running Lotus Domino 6.5 and the portal platform is NW 04, SP15. I understand that there was a limitation of not being able to connect the portal with any Lotus Notes repository having version greater than 5.0.8. Does this restriction still exist?
Any help would be greatly appreciated and suitably rewarded.

regarding 1) in the notes client, the search button actually contains a dropdown. This dropdown list may also contain HTTP URLs (e.g. in the standard R6 client you find AIL, Altavista and some other search engines linked). You may think of adding the TREX URL also there

Lotus Notes documents migration into Solution Manager

We have been using Lotus notes application for maintaining only documentation in our landscape. But now, the plan is to move all the documentation from Lotus notes to SAP Solution Manager and use it as a document management system from now....
Could anyone please answer the following queries:
1) Does LSX environment help/enhance the migration ?. If not, are there any tools/accelerators/functions/automatic methods for mas uploading?
2) This documentation is not project specific documentation. Where do you think this must go in Solution Manager?
In the custom area of BPR?. If yes, please do let me know the procedure for the same.
3) Would it be possible to link the documents to functional domains/ business scenarios/ business processes in the BPR?
4) Lotus notes provides access to all the versions (Draft/Approved/Reviewed) of a document. Would it be possible to have the same features even in Solution Manager?
5) What all document types does Solution Manager recognize?.
I think the Lotus notes documents can be converted to 'Word' format and then put in Solution Manager. Besides this, is there any other common format which is recognized by both the tools?
6) Standard SAP Solution manager does not provide indexed search. So, in order to retrieve a document later what indexing nomenclature/guidelines do you recommend?
Has anyone done/faced with this kind of requirement. The idea now is to use Solution manager as a document management system. The efforts/process/timelines information if already known would be of great help to start with for us....
Could you also provide the trade offs b/n Solution Manager and SAP knowledge warehouse (KW)?

You do have versioning in SolMan and you can upload any kind of document via SOLAR01
regarding the indexing you can either use SAP SES or connect TREX, this is documented in the customizing (SPRO)
TREX will also be the prerequisite to make use of KM in SolMan

Icloud calendar invite lotus notes

Ever since I migrated from MobileMe to iCloud last week, my calendar invites from both my iPhone and my iMac are no longer readable by Lotus Notes (my wife). This is, obviously, a big problem!
I searched the Google-verse and do not see any other mention of this.
Am I alone?

I decided to open a real problem, so I went to Support.Apple.com and within a few short clicks, Apple called me.
I accidentally hung up on them, and they called back in 2 minutes.
I then waited in the queue for a few short minutes. The person who answered, understood my problem and transferred me to the iCal department where I waited another 15 minutes.
The iCal department then did some research for 10 minutes, and came back to tell me that, unfortunately, iCal is working / not broken. I disagreed, saying that this is my business computer and not being able to send meeting invites to anyone not using a MAC is insane.
The support guy suggested I tell the developers directly, via http://www.apple.com/feedback/ical.html.
I already did that.
He suggested that you all do to. The more people who feedback, the faster we'll get a fix!

The SBOMailer Service uses SMTP for sending emails - that means if the
Lotus Notes have an SMTP gateway/connector your client will be able to
use it for sending emails. Be aware that the gateway should not use SMTP
authentification (please see the note 782611). In that case you should
use an additional program between Lotus Notes and SBOMailer Service.
