But iPhone in America but live in Denmark

If I purchase an iPhone here in America while I am visiting here for the holidays, will it work when I go back home to Denmark?

The phone will work, but read the following :
I purchased an iPhone from an Apple store in LA. I told the salesperson that I wanted to use it overseas , on business. I was told by the Apple Store salesperson, that roaming per month "would cost about $100 to $150 per month for 100 to 200 calls".
My first account from AT&T was $1316, then the next was $1100+.
These are facts about AT&T.
The phone is good , but do not go outside the city limits of a US town unless you are a billionaire Denmarkian.
Wait untill the IPhone goes to Finland, as that country prohibits phone companies locking in contracts to phones. I am sure the roaming will be cheaper from there !
