Button bar buttons open pages in new tab!

It was working yesterday (pages opened in current tab) but now it's broken. Help would be great! Thanks

Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
Quit Safari. Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash, not move it back to the Preferences folder.
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari to test.
~ (Tilde) character represents your Home folder
For Lion:  To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
And empty the Safari cache from the menu bar. That may help also.

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Why can't I scroll or use MMB to open pages in new tab, when I have a PDF file opened in FF4?

If I have a PDF file opened in firefox 4, I am for unknow reason unable to open pages in new tabs with MMB or scroll thepage up or down. The scroll function isn't working at all, and it seems like I'd be scrolling the PDF file, not the page of my current tab.

    Hi aK'
    Nice, memorable user name!
-1712 is a timed out error. One reported cause (with other applications) is that the application is attempting to open a large number of files, or a file that no longer exists.
Try holding down the shift key when launching preview. This prevents the application from attempting to open windows that were not closed before quitting the application.

  • Strange behavior in the top link bar and open in a new tab

    Hello,
I am having a strange behavior in the top link bar. Every element in the menu has the "open in a new tab"-option checked and is working fine but is not working at all in a sub site which inherit the menu.
I have look at the code thinking that the menu in the sub site did't get the target="_blank" but is there.
Anyone who knows what can be happening?
    Thanks!!!!

No worries, I found the problem.
Strange but Minimal download strategy feature cause the problem. I unactivated it and everything works fine.

  • Opening pages in new tabs is slow and switches to the new tab and back. How can I stop this?

I work with a lot of tabs and most of the time, I need pages in new tabs to open fast. Recently, whenever I open a page in a new tab, Firefox goes to the new tab for a second, then back to the tab I was on previously, although I have it set to not automatically go to new tabs. This is slowing me down and I'd really like it to stop. I've even tried just having one tab open.

  • Opening pages in new tab from Bookmark Folder

From my Bookmark bar, I can open up a bookmark in a new tab by Cmd-clicking on it--just like any ol' regular link. But when the bookmark is in a folder, Cmd-clicking opens up in the current tab. I'd like it to open in a new tab. Am I doing something wrong? I'd hate to think I have to open up a new tab and then open the bookmark...

    Hi Brian,
You're not doing anything wrong - it just doesn't work the way most people would expect.

  • When in an Apptab, I want new adresses typed in the adress bar, to open in a new tab.

It seems quiet unreasonable to me, that when I'm in an Apptab and I enter a new adress in the adressbar (or select one from the dropdown menu), it is opened in the same Apptab.
Can I configure Firefox to open those adresses in a new tab?

You can use Alt + Enter or middle-click the Go button on the right end of the location bar to open a web page in a new tab if you do not want to replace the current tab.

  • Open page in new tab?

i like that you can open up multiple pages in safari in a way similar to tabs, and links that pop new windows automatically pop a new page. but can you choose to open links in new pages that arent set to do so in the html already? Im used to reading a message forum or search page and keeping it open as the main navigation point, and spawning multiple tabs of what i want to check out. With the edge network slowness, keeping a hub page of links open rather than having to reload pages seems extra important. so...any way to hover over a link and make it open in new page rather than same page on iphone Safari? i sure cant figure out how...
semi-related: any way to save a cached version of a page on the phone? i want to be able to repload some stuff before i travel and wont have good connectivity, but it seems a bit odd and when it tries to refresh content. In particular, I pulled the giant (for EDGE) pdf of iphone instructions, and would like to be able to either save it or cache it or whatever so it stays local on the phone. I dont think this is currently possible...but sure should be...any ideaS?

I tend to browse the same way on sites like Forums or when I want to read a linked in story later, while retaining the main story to continue to read and go back to. If you or anyone else find a way to do this (i.e. the equivalent of the "apple" + click on the desktop Safari) let me know.
If there is no way to do this currently, Apple should add this functionality in the next patch. It would make browsing better, particularly on the iPhone for the reasons you mention.

  • Open pages in new tabs

Preferences are set to open new sites in a new TAB, but it keeps opening them in a whole new window. I want TABs like my old Firefox. How do I teach stupid software to be smarter in this??

Are you clicking links in ordinary web pages, or do you mean from external applications?
Do you have any tab-related add-ons, such as Tab Mix Plus? If so, please check their settings in case they are overriding the built-in settings.

  • Middle click new search bar's search for with should open in a new tab.

Is there a setting anywhere to enable middle clicking on alternative search engines in the new search bar to open in a new tab.

You can set this pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to open the results in a new tab.
    *<b>about:config</b> page: <b>browser.search.openintab</b> = true
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • When I click on a link, it opens in a new tab, FF3.6, would open a link in the same tab, unless Iwanted it in a new tab.

Any link that isn't a button, opens in a new tab.

I don't know of this behavior being changed just by going to Firefox 4.0, basically this is difficult to do if you want that behavior.
'''Middle-click''' defaults in Firefox to opening a link in a new tab (I override through the system to be "Enter")
Do the links open '''into separate tabs''' or do they open into the '''same different tab''' (like in Google searches).
Does this happen from any web page. Normal preferences (but maybe not default) used from search bar, and search results.
Firefox 4.0 introduced '''app-tabs''' which are pinned or unpinned from the tab context menu (right-click on tab). A pinned tab would not show the title on the tab and shows the favicon centered on a narrowed tab. Links opened from pinned tabs open in a new tab, does not apply to use of keyword shortcuts -- not links.
"'''Perma Tabs Plus'''" extension could do that but you would have to invoke it for each tab, though isn't of much/any use in Firefox 4.0 although it did work differently it is or was not working same with Firefox 4.0 (though I still have it active).
"'''Tabs Mix Plus'''" fiddles around with a lot of things almost anything could happen and it could leave things permanently switched (if you have it check it's options; I would never recommend the extension).
Try bringing up Firefox once in "'''Safe Mode'''" to see if that behavior disappears. Firefox 4 can help you with that quickly though Help ("Alt+H") -> "'''Restart with add-ons disabled..'''." this method will bring up safe mode for only the one time, then back to normal. This may not affect all things changed in "Tabs Mix Plus" but otherwise if things work properly in safe mode it generally means an extension was involved.
If an extension is involved the first place I look is "'''[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions Problematic extensions]''' " then the process of whittling down possibilities by disabling/reenabling half of enabled/disabled extensions described in ''' Extension issues''' within "'''[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_(Firefox)#Extension_issues Standard diagnostic - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]''' ".

  • Browsers display pages in new tab

My default browser is Chrome but I also use Firefox and Safari on my iMac.  Since installation of Yosemite, I have a sporadic problem when the browser starts opening a link or displaying successive pages in a new tab rather than replacing the on-screen page with a new page within the same tab.  The only way to stop that is to Quit the browser and relaunch.  This occurs from time to time in all 3 of the web browsers I use.
I have gone into the preferences and, where possible, made sure the " open page in new tab" is not enabled.  As far as I know, I have not made any changes that would have caused this phenomenon since installing OS X 10.10.  Any ideas or thoughts would be welcome.

  • When clicking the + tab in the tab bar how do I set new tabs to automatically open my home page

When clicking the + tab in the tab bar how do I set new tabs to automatically open my home page

You can do that by using an add-on such as:
    * NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl
    * New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage
Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.

  • Web Viewer - getting buttons to open in a new tab or window

I am trying to get a button to open in a new tab or window in the DPS web viewer.
The options when creating a button are:
    Open link in folio
    Open link in device browser
Both which do not work when we export the web viewer.
I know it is possible as Adobe are using this function for their Inspire magazine. This does not seem to be html either that they are using. See link here - at the bottom of the page: Adobe Inspire Magazine October 2014: The Truth in a Face
Any help with this issue would be highly appreciated.

There is a parameter on creating the iFrame called externalLinksOpen. They can set it to 'window', as it defaults to inline, which opens it in the current window. It's documented here:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/digitalpublishingsuite/ContentViewerForWebSDK-2.0/classes /FrameService.html#method_createFrame
There is also a demo linked from our 'What's New' section under 'External Link for Embedded Viewer' at http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/digitalpublishingsuite/ContentViewerForWebSDK-2.0/modules /What's%20New.html.
