Button disabled or not

Question

I'm trying to disable a button, but although the button changes appearance it is not disabled, I can still click it and it still works. So I tried to work around it by checking if the button is disabled or not before submitting, but then it does nothing. Please help!
This is my javascript function:

Hi,
What Theme are you using and what button template? It could be that the button does not actually have an ID that you can use to disable it.
For example, I've just tried this on a Theme 10 application using the "Button" button template. This template is defined as:

&lt;td class="t10C"&gt;&lt;a href="#LINK#"&gt;#LABEL#&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;td class="t10R"&gt;&lt;a href="#LINK#"&gt;&lt;img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_10/button_right.gif" width="4" height="24" alt="" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/td&gt;
&lt;/tr&gt;
&lt;/table&gt;and, as you can see, there is no ID attribute anywhere. No javascript code can, therefore, disable the button by referencing the page item name as the ID.
It would be possible to change the template or, preferably, create a new button template that contains a ID attributes that allows you to control the disabled attribute for a button
