Button Help with Captivate 6

When I am installing a button in captivate 6, I am trying to have that button be linked to a pdf form of another captivate presentation. I click the Open URL option for the action of the button and I click the project that I want to open, but instead of the captivate link, I click the pdf format that I created for that other project. When I view the main project, with all of the buttons/links, It will not open any of the pdfs that I have linked to the button.

Make sure that Captivate is updated to 6.0.1.240 or 6.1.0.319.
In which Format have you published your Parent project (.swf, HTML5 etc.)?
and where are those Published PDFs kept? are they in the same folder where the Main Project is published or are they on another location ?
When you have inserted button, which option did you use to open those PDFs Current, new, top or Parent?
Are you viewing the Published Project locally? or have you uploaded it somewhere?

Adobe Reviewer buttons interfere with Captivate simulation

Utilizing the Reviewer buttons (forward, back, Add comment) affects the simulation in Captivate 4. For example, after adding a comment, the buttons on the screen no longer work. Utilizing the back and forward buttons can result in you getting stuck on a page and not being able to move forward either by clicking the Forward button or by following the instructions in the training. The only workaround we have found is to close Adobe Reviewer, reopen the .crev file, and go through the training without clicking on any of the Adobe Reviewer buttons. Do you have any insight into this issue?
Note: our training is a simulation where the user needs to click on a button or click box to progress to the next slide.
I am also wondering whether this issue occurs in Publish mode? Should users utilize both the Captivate buttons and the instructions on the screen to move through the slides?

The issue is with the software compatibility with firefox.
Kindly install the updated hot key and power management driver and check if it resolve the issue.

Button help with asp database in dreamweaver

Hey i have a page that has an iframe inside it with 2 menu's
side by side with buttons in between to move items from one menu to
another and i have them set with javascript to move back and forth
works great only problem is its also supposed to update to the
database as well and i used the update command feature in
dreamwaver and i set it up but its still not working if i post my
code can someone help me?

Help with Captivate 2 quiz

I am creating a short quiz in Captivate 2. T/F and MC. There
is no LMS currently to send answers to, so I set it to send an
email of the test results. When I test it out, it tries to send an
email for each question instead of at the end of the test.
I don't know what I am doing wrong. Or if there is a way for
them to print/pdf their results? I have exported as a .swf

Desperately need help with preview/publish problem in Captivate 5

I'm working with Captivate 5 latest version (incl patch) on a Win 7 computer.
I have a project of ~120 'light' slides (boxes, buttons, TEBs only on ~30 of the slides), the slide deck is imported from ppt. In addition I have short audio files (recorded with ppt, important into library) for each slide.
My problem: if I preview 'slide' or 'next 5 slides', everything works - but as soon as I try full project preview or 'from this slide', the audio carries on, but the slide content disappears, I get a white screen that is flickering & a sound like continuous mouse clicks. When flickering, you see elements of other slides appear and disappear, but so quickly (milliseconds) that it's impossible to figure out which slides. And most importantly: WHY?
I've tested with various slides as starting point and it always plays out as above, thus don't think it's got something to do with a particular slide.
Hope somebody can help. I'm at my wits end

Need some help with Flash + Captivate (ActionScript in Flash)

I have what I think is a fairly simple question.... I have an SWF File embedded in a Captivate 4 Presentation. The SWF requires the user to click on a variety of items, after they have gone through all the required items a "FINISH" button appears... I want the finish button to "close" the SWF file.
I'll add this info to in case it helps with the "right" answer....
The reason I am doing this is because Captivate automatically rolls from one "slide" to the next. The only way to stop this is to add a "pause" button to the slide, I want the user to have to finish the SWF before they can see the "next" button in the captivate file...So I was thinking, put the "swf" over the "next" button... then have the "complete" button close the swf revealing the covered "next" button in captivate....
The short version of what I need is information on closing an SWF file via a button click. Is there a "swf.visible=false" or anything like that?

Need some help with putting a folder in users directoryI recomend using System.getProperty( "user.home" ) not a hard-coded value.
This will use the users home folder ( C:\My Documents ) on Win9X (I guess), C:\Documents and Settings\<current user> on Win2K +, and ~ on Unix-a-likes.

Help with buttons in AS3

Hi Folks,
I'm stuck with a simple flash movie I need to create in which two images fade in and fade out, and each of them must be clickable and hyperlink to a separate URL.
I've got the fading going okay, but I cannot for the life of me get even a single button to work on it.
If it's helpful I can send along what I've got so far. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I think I was close - I was aware of the changes between AS2 and AS3, but I
think I was putting the Action in the wrong place.
Next question - if I have 2 buttons (say btn1 and btn2), how do I make btn1
available for say frames 1-60, and btn2 available from frames 61-120?
I am primarily a ColdFusion developer, and a complete newbie to flash, so
sorry if this is a dumb question.

In AS3, to make a button work with code, you need to add an event listener
for it. In the timeline that holds that button, in a separate actions layer
that you create, in a frame numbered the same as where that button exists,
you would add the event listener:

Well here's a doozy for ya. I have no idea what I'm doing as you will be able to see when you look at my form.
What I want to happen is to have the user fill out the form, choose the operations manager and select submit button associated with the drop down box. All other dropdown boxes and submit buttons should be hidden. I need the form to lock so there are no edits except the signature field, the next dropdown box and submit button. I'd like to customize the email with a specific subject line and specify the email address based on the person selected from the drop down box. I'd like this to repeat itself until there are no more signature fields left. It is very important that this document follow the order specified.
I tried to use an example Niall put out there to use regular buttons as submit buttons with script. I changed a couple things and it worked to submit the form based on the person selected but I still do not know how to lock the fields. Long story short, I broke what did work and don't know how to do what I really want to do or fix what had once worked. I don't understand javascript so please, if you're willing to help teach me, be patient and spell it out like i'm speaking a foreign language.
Oh boy, even I don't want to do this. What a mess!

Restore iPhone with iTunes on computer. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time of holding both buttons. Click the Update or Restore button that iTunes offers.

Help with Re-Linking Navigation Buttons

I have Adobe Flash CS3 Pro.
I have a navigation header flash file that came with my website template and I am having difficulty making sense of the actionscript. It has a logo section with effects, 5 main nav buttons that move, and two extra link buttons above the navigation bar. Let’s focus on just the Navigation buttons for now. Here is what I have gathered. I have multiple text buttons on one movieclip, and I have successfully edited the text for each button. If I look at the actionscript in the top layer of this movieclip I see:
“gotoAndStop(parent._parent.num);”
I also have a separate movieclip symbol (with effects) with 5 buttons layers listed in the actionscript with the following actionscript tied to each button from numbers 1 through 5:

My problem is that I have created new pages (index.html, about.html, featured.html, projects.html, contact.html). I would like each of the 5 buttons to correspond to these pages, not the existing standard “index-n.html” pages.
Also, this is probably not relevant, but each html page has something to this affect so I can see how they correspond to each button.

I guess my real question is: What actionscript do I need to update or remove for the nav button LINKS to work with my new html pages rather than the standard 5 index-n.html pages that it automatically wants to link to?
When I try and add a “getURL” command to each of the 5 buttons and test preview the movie, the links work, but it messes up the effects of the movieclip. In other words, the buttons don’t move, they are motionless, however the links work. If I added this command to each button in some way, what actionscript would I need to remove so there weren’t any complications? I need some expert help here for it would be much appreciated. I am a novice with Flash script and its killing me that I can’t figure it out. I asked for help from the template support and all they came back with was the following message and it wasn’t helpful:
You need to duplicate each button you are editing - it is very important.

First of all, thank you for showing interest and helping out in my dilemma here. I wish I understood your meaning behind “on” because with my luck there is probably some hidden way of placing script on an object that I don’t understand or haven’t discovered yet.
This is what I know:
I have multiple text buttons on one movieclip entitled “textbutton1” (see previous picture), and I have successfully edited the text for each button and created two extra frames/buttons to make 7 total. If I look at the actionscript in the top layer of this movieclip I see:

But there is no action on each individual frame (all 7 of them) on that layer.

so that when you click and hold it, the button becomes lighter in
color (I used Alpha). I want the button to stay this light color
after i release the click. Right now it goes back to the normal
color when I release the click. Can somone help we this?

you can't use the button itself if you want to maintain the
DOWN state after
release as button automatically resets itself once the mouse
lives the HIT zone.
Use movie clip instead and on press simply send it to a frame
where there
is DOWN state like image.

Help with Flash AS 2.0 Buttons

Hi,
I really need some help with this file, I m fairly inexperience in action script and have great difficulty getting this to work.
what happens is when you click on the Performance button on the left, the Learn more buttons below the gloves on the perform frame of movie clip mButtons will not work. These buttons are movie clips on a separate frame of the same time line of the movie clip mButtons which contains the Lifestyle Learn more buttons on the life frame.
Ideally the buttons would have been in the rollover on the gloves, which are buttons rather than movie clips, but I was unable to get that to work either.
If you can help with the 2.0 code it might be most helpful as I am even less familiar with AS 3.0

Is it a wi-fi or cellular connection that isn't working? If its wi-fi and other people/computers/phones can connect check your settings. If its cellular, are other people's phones (on the same carrier) working in the same location? If other people can't connect then it is likely a network problem. If others can you may need to reset/restore you iPhone.
