  • Why text and button links on a PDF do not work in the iPad

    I have Acrobat Pro 9.2.3 and InDesign CS5.
    I've tried creating both button and text links directly from InDesign (Window > Interactive > Hyperlinks). I then export the multi-page PDF with "Acrobat 6 and Above" selected as well as the "Hyperlinks" and "Interactive Elements" checked. When I open the PDF in my iPad, none of the text or button links work.
    Then . . .
    I tried opening the same multi-page PDF in Acrobat Pro, and manually created the link boxes (Tools > Advanced Editing > Link Tool). The iPad still can't interprete these two interactive elements.
    Any clues what I'm doing wrong?

    Try exporting as ePub - now test inside Digital Editions and if OK - drag the file into iTunes and synch to iPhone/iPad.
    It's probably a Preview issue as mentioned but exporting to ePub is good fun!

  • "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" doesn't work

    Under Tools > Options > Tabs, "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" is selected. Also, in about:config, browser.tabs.warnOnClose is set to "true". I always have multiple tabs open. However, sometimes my hand slips or the mouse falls off the table and Firefox closes without any warning.

    I had this problem too a few monthes ago,
    sorry don't remember how I solved the problem...
    BUT a general TIP is that you sometimes should fully reinstall Firefox from the scratch.
    I mean save your bookmarks (json), have a list of your add-ons,
    preferably with their url too, and one for your plugins too, everything safe in a folder in your documents...
    And only then "shoot away" Firefox from your computer, profile included...
    make a full cleaning of everything belonging to Firefox.
    (with Glary utilitises, CC cleaner or any soft alike)
    Reinstall everything with the latest Firefox.exe !
    This especially if you're used to ( as I am) try new adds, make changes
    in about:config... and so on.
    I guess it comes because with the "normal way of updating", which I suppose is the case for most people, just to download the updates, Firefox, after a few monthes,
    starts to mess a little things around.
    And even "Speedyfox" nor defragmentation can't help that much...
    Personnaly, I don't like so much to do it, but like that, usually my Firefox works fast and well.
    Another solution is to use "FEBE" add-on...
    I wish this "general tip" will help some of you, or at least give some indications,
    on how you want to solve some Firefox problems :-)
    Note : depending on how many add-ons you have, this may take ~30minutes up to 3 hours (:-(), if you have never saved anything before (list from your adds).
    PS Me ? I save everything quiet often, because I once lost, years ago, everything concerning Firefox because I did a main mistake (lost all my bookmarks)... and told myself : Not Twice... :-)
    Happy Christmas ! :-)

  • Tools,Options, "warn me when closing multiple tabs' is not working.

    Windows 7; Firefox 5.0.1
    Tools, Options, "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" is selected. Firefox closes unexpectedly without providing a warning.

    Ahh, yes, I remember that warning as well. Apparently the check box has worked as I have forgotten about that additional warning. Anyhow, I agree - the wording does not distinguish well between the two scenarios. Supplying an option for both would be great.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Little video player (1 playback component, 3 buttons linked to 3 .flv files) not working in the published html! Why?

    Hey everyone out there that is smarter than me. I have made this little prototype video player, and it isn't working. It'll eventually become a nice little player show videos from our summer camp for the last few years, but first I want to make it work in a basic stripped down version.
    There is a playback component with one of the skins right above the three buttons.
    Here's the ActionScript:
    btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, vid1);
    btn2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, vid2);
    btn3.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, vid3);
    function vid1(e:Event):void{
    vidPlayer.source = "Video1.flv"
    function vid2(e:Event):void{
    vidPlayer.source = "Video2.flv"
    function vid3(e:Event):void{
    vidPlayer.source = "Video3.flv"
    It runs fine when I test in in flash and even the .swf file runs fine alone, but when I put it in a .html file  via Dreamweaver and in the published .html it doesn't run. What up?

    Oh yeah, all the files are in the same directory.

  • Click on URL in email, open new tab in browser, BUT stay in same Thunderbird email

    There used to be a way to click on a link (URL) in an email that would open a new tab/window in the browser (Firefox), BUT stay in Thunderbird - similar to what Ctrl-Left-click does in Google search results in Firefox.
    My work flow is usually to open several links, staying in Thunderbird and then when I'm done - go to Firefox to look at them all. E.g. I get a stackexchange weekly summary email, click on all the topics that look interesting and then, when I'm done selecting them, go look at them in Firefox.
    I don't want to be forced to jump back and forth for every link, one at a time. This used to work.
    Is there a preference or add-on that will do this - or anything else?

    I'm not aware of any complete reference to all preferences that offer a full explanation of what each does, what the Value means and how to use in a problem-oriented fashion.
    But the list below does help:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Category:Preferences
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config_entries
    http://www-archive.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html#ui
    http://preferential.mozdev.org/preferences.html
    there is also a postscript module used by eg: linux
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/PostScript_Module
    Margins are set up here:
    File > Page Setup > Margins & header/Footer
    or via File > Print Preview > Page Setup button
    Helpful hints:
    if you have Margins (millimeters)
    and set eg: Bottom margin as 20.0
    then look in config editor, you will see:
    print.printer_XX.print_margin_bottom; Value = 0.787500023841858
    This seemed odd at first. All Values in config were being converted to inches represented in a decimal format.
    If you ever need to change the margins from millimeter to inches:
    Print.printer_xx.print_paper_size_unit Value: = 1
    Change the Value to 0 (zero) to get inches
    If you change the Value to 0 for inches and then reopen:
    File > Page Setup > Margins & header/Footer
    you will see the Bottom margin has auto changed from 20.0 (mm) to 0.8 (inches rounded up), so although the display is different in File > Page Setup > Margins & header/Footer tab, the actual information in config preferences remains unchanged as it is saved in decimal inches format used by US as default.
    if using millimeters then the paper size would be A4 210 x 297 mm.
    Although looking in the config preferences it will say paper width 8.50 and paper height 11.00.
    Usually, you can change the paper size when you select to Print and look in Print Properties. I'm in UK and using millimeters so get A4; the US uses Letter 8½ x 11 inches.
    So I can see how it could be confusing to anyone using millimeters and then sees, what appears like wrong data in preferences.

  • Power button on open box iPhone 5 not working

    So I got my iphone 5 in april of 2013.I purchased an open box from best buy. I accidently dropped it in july on the top left corner the opposite side of the power button. Although recently I have been experiencing diffuculties with my power button. Over the past 2 weeks it has completly stopped working. another peoblem i am experiencing is troubbles charging it will only charge from one side of any charger. I am wondering if i go to the apple store if they will replace it or blame it on my fault because I dropped it. i read other posts that stated that they proved water damage im worried that they will not give me a new or referbished one and I will have to live with a broken power button for the next 2.5 years of my contract. Will they replace it or will they not take it back because of the open box and the dent?

    It sounds like whenever you dropped it, something rattled the parts inside of the iPhone.
    With power buttons, Apple typically replaces those under warranty but if you have accidental damage, you would have to pay for it regradless of warranty.

  • "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" does not work on Mac Version 5.0.1

    The "question" says it all. Even though this box is checked in FireFox Preferences, it doesn't work on my iMac. The browser closes immediately. There is no pop-up with a question.

    You can set the warn prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page to <b>true</b> via the right-click context menu or toggle the value with a double left-click.
    * browser.showQuitWarning, see http://blog.zpao.com/post/3174360617/about-that-quit-dialog
    * browser.tabs.warnOnClose, see http://kb.mozillazine.org/About%3Aconfig_entries
    * browser.warnOnQuit , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnQuit
    * browser.warnOnRestart , see http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.warnOnRestart
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
    *Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
    *Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
    *Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • I would like to open a Firefox browser with multiple tabs per topic, like work1/work2/hobby and see that given name in the taskbar, instead of the tab-name

    I usually open a new browser window per subject, let's say I'm shopping online for something and open about 5 tabs for that, but in the same time I am working on 2 systems which are lookalike, but defenitely should not be mixed average 6 tabs open per subject. Also I read something on my hobby and I open another window and want to read a few tabs on that.
    I don't want them to mix and preferably I'd like to see a self-chosen subject for a minimized window in the taskbar.
    Is there a feature like this or is it possible to add a feature like this?

    Another alternative by the way maybe to use multiple Firefox profiles. I will give more information on that if required. It is fairly easy if you are used to using computers but not something this forum officially supports with KB articles.
    The bult in Tabs groups sounds more like what you want. Did you try that ?
    As for trying to interest Developers. You could make a comment using ''feedback'' but I would not hold out much hope unless you yourself know a developer willing to undertake the coding and press for its use. Maybe you would be more likely to interest and get something from add-on developers, assuming a similar add-on does not already exist.
    The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
    If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox ''Help'' menu and select ''Submit Feedback...'' or use [https://input.mozilla.org/feedback this link]. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

  • Cannot open multiple tab when checking "+".

    Once the multiple tabs worked. Then a recent 'new' FireFox development ad occured. Wasn't interested in new cute stuff. Continued. Now the multiple tabs don't work.

    hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

  • Using the middle mouse button to open a link in a new background tab also reloads the current page.

    When I click on a link with the middle button to open the link in a new background tab, the original page reloads and my view jumps to the top each time.
    The new tab loads fine but in order to continue reading the original page I have to scroll down to where the link I clicked on is.
    If I right-click on the link and select "Open Link in New Tab" from the context menu then the behaviour is as expected -- does not reload the original page. The flaw only happens when using the convenient mouse shortcut.
    This is annoying, for example, on long Wikipedia articles where I want to open some of the cited pages in other tabs for reading later whilst I continue to read original article. I'm constantly having to find where I was in order to continue reading.
    I've observed this behaviour on both Windows XP and Ubuntu on various computers.
    [EDIT]: Better description of problem in title.

    I've never had that happen with Firefox 4 on WinXP. I haven't updated my Netbook that runs Ubuntu to Firefox 4 yet.
    1. Try disabling the Java Console 6.0.24 and the Java Quick Starter 1.0 extensions and see if that solves your middle-click problem.
    2. Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.''
    ''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    # You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    # Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
    ''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
    If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • Tab bar will not generate new tab if press+ - Links work- Right Button click 'open in new tab'

    Now working with 3.6.18 (I had v4, then v5 briefly), the tab bar 'failed' in v5 so I went back to v3.6.18, but the problem followed.
    No matter how many tabs are open I cannot get a new blank tab by clicking the "+" tab on tab bar.
    I CANNOT get a new tab by mousing over another tab, right button menu "new tab" will not work.
    I CAN select a bookmark "open in new tab" it works.
    I CAN do the same on a link, "open in new tab" it opens in a new tab.

    Didn't even know I had one, so I told it to display then went to the right hand end where a drop down menu offered "uninstall" and fired that , and again, and again, and again, the sticky little booger grinned back, but would not leave.
    Reminded me of early Windows days when Win would die and tell you, "I just lost all your work" "OK?"
    Going to look for a big hammer, it used to make me feel good to have the last FINAL word.

  • Multiple Tab Home refresh issue, I would like to not get 6 new tabs to open when I hit the home button, I would like it to refresh the six tabs I already have open back to the saved settings. Internet explorer does this.

    I like to have my home button restore multiple tabs for me. Sometimes I close some of the default tabs or they move from their default pages. Based on my experience with internet explorer I first select the left most tab and then hit the home button. It restores all saved tabs in the default. With Firefox is always opens brand new tabs and moves the existing ones to the right. Is there a setting to make it not open all new tabs.

    That's the way the Homepage button works in Firefox, it reloads one tabbed homepage and opens all the rest of your homepages in new Tabs, appending the Tabs that are already open.
    IIRC, the TabMix Plus extension has an option to reload your Homepages in existing tabs.

  • Email links when clicked causes Firefox to open many multiple tabs, unable to close any of them, in other words, crashes. Anyone else having this problem?

    I cannot click on any email links on any pages. It causes Firefox to open many, many multiple tabs, which I cannot close. My only recourse is to quit Firefox and relaunch. It happens most of the time, so that in order to click an email link I must open another browser altogether.

    You can look at the network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs on the about:config page.<br />
    If network.protocol-handler.external.mailto prefs are user set (bold) then right-click and Reset them to the default value.<br />
    You can open about: pages via the location bar like you open a website.
    Did you try to delete the file mimeTypes.rdf in the Firefox Profile Folder?

  • Whenever I click on a link with the middle-mouse button, it opens multiple copies the link instead of only one (Version is 4.0.1).

    Whenever I click on a link with the middle-mouse button, it opens multiple copies the link instead of only one (Version is 4.0.1). I have checked the mouse in other browsers and it doesn't behave oddly in them.

    Does that happen if you {Ctrl + Click} the same hyperlinks?
