Button Scripts for Sharing on Social Media

I need sharing scripts for social media buttons (Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, FaceBook). For example, hovering over a button produces a tool tip ‘Share this site on Google+’ and clicking the button pops up a login window, or similar.
Anyone has good and simple scripts?

I found button scripts right here in the Adobe Developer Connection Cookbooks http://cookbooks.adobe.com/post_Simple_social_networking_share_buttons-19482.html
However, there is a bug: Google Chrome displays a LinkedIn pop up with an editable field. I tried to report the bug in a comment to the article, but I got a 'server communication error' message.
Anyone knows how to report the bug, or fix the bug?

Hello,
I just setup a LaserWriter 8500 for TCP/IP printing using LPD/LPR and a specific IP address in Mac OS 10.4.
Now, however, I have to add this printer to a plethora of computers, and I was wondering how one would create either a script or a .PPD that would replace my current manual installation (which requires changing the model type, manual name change, printer optional settings, etc.) on each office computer.
I know I am asking a lot, but a 'one-click' solution would just rock my world...for at least a day.

So you have to make the LAN to LAN connection ( i.e.computers Ethernet port to one of the routers Ethernet port ) ...Secondly do the wireless settings as per your requirement, disable the DHCP server and change the IP address of the Router to 192.168.0.2 so that you can open the Router setup page in future.... You need not have to assign any IP Address to my client to make it work....

Deleting all photos from iphoto without deleting photos that I have 'shared' on social media

Hello lovely techno wizards!
I have recently purchased an external hard drive for my macbook air in order to make more room. Therefore I have transferred all of my photographs from iPhoto to the external hard drive and now I would like to delete everything from the iPhoto application. However when I select 'delete all' it informs me that I will also be deleting all the pictures that I have uploaded to facebook, which I do not want to do... I could go through and delete them individually, but I have over 5,000 pictures and only share them sporadically. Please help!

To make room on your MacBook Air you could also simply have dragged the iPhoto Library to your external drive and used it from there. You just need to make sure, the external drive has the correct filesystem.

Custom social media buttons

Hello Dreamweavers,
I am working on a site that will have twitter and facebook buttons.
I tried the buttons provided by twitter and facebook: For twitter the "tweet" button and for facebook the "like" and "send" button as you generate on their sites.
There is a lot not to like about this: You don't control the looks (they are loaded through a script), the buttons facebook and twitter are different in size, they come with a ton of code that is loaded from the facebook servers and thus seem to slow down loadtimes.
The facebook button is quite wide and does not go well with my fluid design.
I would like to replace them with my own.
The fb and twitter scripts also send info, like the page you come from, username etc, so that users can quickly send that page to their followers.
The company that the site is for does not have a facebook page or twitteraccount.
We don't want a counter with the buttons.
So how can I have my own buttons and still have (some) of the functionality that the FB and Twitter buttons offer?

don't understand why you are adding buttons to a web page whose company does not have social media accounts for those buttons to link to?
Actually is not really a real "company" it is more like a collaboration of people with an idea that won a price with that.
Visitors cab join in if they want.
So it is a "social" thing, but all the info will be on the site.
The people that will visit the site are typical users of twitter and facebook (and Linkedin) and will most likely use that to share the site.
In any case, you can design any button you like and change the URL to link directly to the facebook or twitter page. It does not need to have the functionality but you mention you want to keep some of that functionality - what parts exactly?
For instance that the URL of the page that you want to share is sent.
And I set up the site with Open Graph, so you can "send" the page complte with a description, url and small picture.
I must add that this whole social media thing is unknown territory for me, I am reading up on it right now.
So perhaps I should rephrase my question:
Do you or did you implement social media buttons in the website you built and if yes, how did you do that and why?

Sharing flv or swf to social media sites

Hi all... I am researchign some solutions for building a new flash video player that will allow me to share the actual video on social media sites like Facebook. What I'd like as far as UX is for the user to be able to watch the vidoe on my site, the click a button to share it on a site like Facebook... and then on Facebook, I'd like the video to actually show up, in the same way a vidoe shows up if you post a YouTube video there. It's viewable on Facebook, and it's not a link to go back to the site webpage that contains the flv video.
I'm still working in AS2, that's why I'm posting in this forum. This might also have to be resolved elsewhere like in the page language (asp, cfm, etc.), or through Facebook (FBML).
Any suggestions?

To determine what project preset was set, one approach is to read the Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and its Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio fields even if they look grayed out. From those readings, you can reason back to what was set in the new project dialog for the project preset.
To get to the project presets yourself, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Properties button in the New Project dialog. At that point - before you hit Change Settings button in the New Project dialog, the New Project dialog may (not always) display the project preset for the last project. If any problems in this regard, just tell me the readings in the Edit Menu/Project Settings/General, and I will interpret them for you.
Based on what you wrote....Project Settings DV Pal and Video Render Microsoft AVI DV Pal, your project could be set for PAL DV Standard or PAL DV Widescreen. The Pixel Aspect Ratio in Project Settings/General would give us our answer.
Also, are you saying that the same Premiere Elements Timeline in the same project can upload to Vimeo successfully but not YouTube? What is the file size and duration for that Timeline video as reflected at the bottom of the Premiere Elements YouTube export area?

Using Automator for Social Media

Hi,
I would like to use Automator to schedule social media posts (links/articles) on a daily basis on 4 different platforms. Is this possible?
If you have tried or are using this method, or would like to please get back to me.
Would be a great way to avoid external software permissions and do it all privately and all for FREE.
With reports and metrics. This may require some Apple Script. I am trying to do what Hootsuite does.
I can probably execute 50%, but would need an Apple developer's expertise to seal it all.

you don't need automator for this. go to finder preferences->general and check the box to show connected servers on the desktop. then just connect to the remote computers and then drag the mounted volumes from the desktop to your login items in system preferences->accounts->login items. then when you log in the remote computers will be automatically mounted. you can also use a cloud storage solution like Mobileme or DropBox and store the password database file in a central online location.

Using social media share codes with custom buttons

Is there a way to use custom buttons/icons for social media share, like, etc..? I have tried inserting the html with no luck. The canned social widgets don't really match the look of the site I am designing.

Social media button... i'm confused?

This might be stupid question time but when you're building your site and you add a social widget from the Muse library that widget is linked to the temporary URL? When we do actually push our sites live to a proper domain, I assume that all these widgets we automatically switch over to the new page URL... right?
The one I am most confused about is the Facebook comments widget... I have the 'current page' check box marks at the moment.

It's not that I have issues with any of them at the moment. It's just not having ever actually taken a site 'live' I just wanted to know what will happen to the widgets when I do... if that makes sense?
For example, I have several Twitter 'tweet' buttons set to 'current page'... will that current page URL change to its new page URL when I actually send the site 'live' in a few days or will I have to go back into each one and manually update the new URL?
The Facebook comments widget... same question as above?
All together I have over 100 social media widgets throughout the site (many on product pages and blog pages) so it's important I know now.

How do I create an mail button in my site? (Like, for sharing the site to a friend, not to the site administrator)

I would like someone to be able to share my site to their friends so the friend receives an emailed link, preferable with a logo and strap line.

Best Practices for sharing media with iMovie and FCPX

So I've a large iMovie Events directory, and would like to use that media with both iMovie and FCPX projects.
I'd rather not duplicate the media, so would prefer to import as references into FCPX.
The dilemma is that I see that it's possible to modify or move media from within the iMovie application, and therefore break the reference to that media with FCPX.
I only see two options: (1) Never Ever modify the location/name of media in the iMovie Events file (even from within the iMovie app) since I would break an FCPX link if that media is referenced, or (2) always import (copy) the iMovie events into the FCPX Event Library making an independent original so that I can confidently operate on those media files in either application.
I'd surely rather not have to do (2 )(e.g. doubling my storage demands) to gain the flexibility of using either application to edit the video, but really don't want to live with the restrictions of (1).
Thoughts / Solutions? What might you consider as options or best practices?

Unless there is some other reason, users should own the right to share their mailboxes - it shouldn't be something that demands administrator management (if only so that the administrators aren't swamped by user requests for sharing their mailboxes).
For true shared mailboxes, when the mailbox is created, full access is granted by an administrator.

When I open an article, I scroll the text to keep reading it. Unfortunately, the social media stuff, which was in the left side of the screen, isn't seen anymore. I want this social media stuff to go along with text. An example is the New Yorker's App, whose image is below. Please, let me know how I can manage this using only InDesign. Thank you.
