BUtton VIdeo Thumbnail Animation

Umm how can I have  a button in Encore to do one of the most important ideal feature such as:
I want a button that links to a chapter in my main movie sequence. However, I want the button video thumbnail to show a preview of another sequence (another small clip) and not the same damn video that the button is linked too. I just want the video thumbnail to play a 5 sec other clip that I created instead of the the begining of the sequience encore chapter mark it is linked tooo. This should be pretty simple but I cant find the feature?  I was under the impression that encore can do this???
If not, adobe fails major since a lot cheaper software out there can do more complex things.

For example, many people would want their ceremony button to start a few seconds before the ceremony starting (titles, blank screen, then ceremony), while the video thumbnail in the menu plays some clip for example, bride walking down the isle.
The bride walking down the aisle is part of the ceremony video being linked to, right?  Well, not if your clips brought into Encore are all separate timelines.  But if it is, there is no problem; Encore does that fine.  Select chapter 1 of the ceremony timeline, set the poster frame to the "walk down aisle" - Encore creates the thumbnail video there.
I do not think that many people would want the thumbnail to be something that is not in the video they are going to watch.
But I agree that it would be nice to add other content into the thumbnail.  You might want to submit a feature request. It should not be too hard to select an asset for the thumbnail.  But AE or Premiere for such a background is pretty quick.
Remember that much of Encore is not Adobe (it was licensed from Sonic), and Encore is not available as a separate purchase; it is an extension of Premiere.

  • Customising start of Video Thumbnail button

I have a project that is nearly done. I have several buttons, to chapters in the movie, that are video thumbnails. My question is:
I want the appearance of the button (video subpicture) to show the frame at say 2:12 of a timeline but I want the link to point to chapter 2, which might be located at 1:54 on the timeline.
Can I have the picture (Not a still picture) on the button thumbnail that is different than the location of the Chapter marker. I don't want to use a still picture, which I could easily add in photoshop. I want to use a different frame of the timeline.
    thanks

You can customize where the video in the thumbnail starts by setting the Poster Frame property of the chapter (in Chapter Properties) to the timecode where you want thumbnail playback to begin.

  • Video and animation Skips 10% of video/animation duration button

    Hello,
Is it possible to create a button to skip 10% of video and animation duration? I can easily make it work on just the video but I need the animation scroll bar to follow on where I skip. Below is the playback animation I did:
The play button and the blue with orange bar syncs nicely but I can't sync the skip buttons to work with the video and the bar animation. Basically it's a video player that can do a frame-by-frame for the animation video above to show frame-by-frame when you start drawing. I'd like to have the bar follow the skip buttons on where the video timeline is.
I'm no code expert but knows how to use Edge Animate, the basic functions.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
I ve tried to re-create a project with the issue... but it is working all right.
The timeline animation is not stopping my video....
If I reproduce the issue I came back to the forum.
    thank you

  • Video Thumbnail images gone - iPad 1st gen, iOS5

After updgrading my iPad 1st gen to iOS5, all of my video thumbnail images are gone.
The iPad just displays a white box with a gray flat screen TV icon for every video file listed under Movies or TV Shows
This is most troublesome when I touch the TV Shows button and I get a page full of those white boxes with the TV icon - and, as has always been the case, there is no name for the TV show. So I'm lost in the white boxes trying to find LOST the TV show.
Any thoughts on how I get my thumbnails back?

If they are in your iTunes library on your computer why don't you try syncing again. Make sure that all of the shows are selected to sync along with the sync Movies heading and then sync again.
If they are only on the iPad it might be a good idea to transfer the purchases into the iTunes library. Connect the iPad to the computer, launch iTunes and right click on the device name and select Transfer Purchases.
If you have tried syncing, try restarting, resetting and quitting the videos app.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
To quit the videos app - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • No video thumbnails on nautilus

The title pretty much describes it, I'm getting no video thumbnails on nautilus, I tried following solutions proposed in some older threads on this forum with no luck, I tried installing ffmpegthumnailer, ffmpeg, and all of the gstreamer plugins, reloaded gnome as suggested, even rebooted and video thumbnails are still not being generated.
    I also tried deleting ~/.chache/thumbnails/fail .
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks in advance.

strange, for me its visible in the gear menu. I'm not using gnome shell though.
    anyway, back to the topic.
If you have totem installed, thumbnails should work out of the box. I don't really have any idea why it wouldn't unless you have messed around with something that disables it.
If you want to use ffmpegthumbnailer with nautilus, you need to create ~/.local/share/thumbnailers/totem.thumbnailer with this content something like this:
    [Thumbnailer Entry]
    TryExec=/usr/bin/ffmpegthumbnailer
    Exec=/usr/bin/ffmpegthumbnailer -s %s -i %i -o %o -c png
    #Exec=/usr/bin/ffmpegthumbnailer -s %s -i %i -o %o -c png -f #add "film"borders

  • Motion Menu - video thumbnail change?

I have a load of motion menus on a Blu-Ray project which play part of the scene that they link to. I was wondering if it was possible to change just one of the video thumbnail previews to another video? I can't seem to find any setting or anything online about it. I know you can choose any video for the menu background video, but this is for one of the scene selection thumbnails.
    Here's a picture:
    Any help appreciated! Thank you

Ok so that works perfectly, but now a new problem has come up. Basically, I created all my highlights in Photoshop so they weren't the bad highlights (yellows etc) like Adobe has by default. They were all working fine, like this:
It's un-rendered but you can see the highlight is a thicker white box around it which looks nice.
But, for some reason, scene selection menu 1 has decided it doesn't like these highlights and has reverted to "Group 1" of button highlights like this:
I have no idea how to revert this and I noticed that if you click on a button, the "highlight" drop down now has "group 1" or "group 2" but for every other menu the box is grayed out and just says "--".
Do you possibly know how to revert this? It's really annoying me now, almost everything was perfect.

  • Making menu with video thumbnails

I'm creating a menu with video thumbnail. I want the video thumbnail to use chapter 2 on the timeline but when the user click the play button, I want the timeline to start from chapter 1. How do I do that?

I think now that JSB and I are proposing the same method.
    Your original post:
I'm creating a menu with video thumbnail. I want the video thumbnail to use chapter 2 on the timeline but when the user click the play button, I want the timeline to start from chapter 1. How do I do that?
If what we proposed doesn't work, what happened and why was it not what you want.
You have timeline, with a button linked to that timeline chapter 1.  When the button is selected, you want the video to play from the beginning.
You now want to add a video thumbnail.  Ignore whether there are other chapters or not.  The thumbnail for the button is going to look to the timecode for the poster frame for that button link (chapter 1) to determine what to play in the thumbnail.  Select chapter 1 on the timeline, go to any location on the timeline, and set the poster frame.  It doesn't matter whether the poster frame location is in chapter 2, 3 or whatever, that is the poster frame for chapter 1, and therefore for your button.
Hunt, do you see why that won't work?

  • Browsing through video thumbnails in N90 is not sm...

Did any other N90 user noticed this? Since I updated to FW 5.0607.7.3, when you go browsing through the thumbnails of photos and videos in the Gallery, when it gets to videos, the animation of transition between the thumbnails goes totally unsmooth. In FW V3 I did not have this problem.
I tried without the memory card, saving the videos on the internal memory, but the problem continued.
Here's a video for comparison. My camera video is pretty **bleep**py, but you can see that when it gets to video thumbnails the animation goes slower.

  • Putting description on video thumbnail while selecting

is it possible to make the video thumbnails to generate text description while selecting the thumbnails? I made a gif of the aspect that I want to do: http://i28.tinypic.com/2ymgfhv.gif
is it possible with encore? workaround on the button overlapping, autoactivate or scripting something?
    thanks

    Encore doesn't do scripting.
You can use autoactivate to go to a different menu that has the text for that button.  Create multiple menus.
Mouseover won't autoactivate, so doesn't work on a  computer the way you'd like.

  • Video Thumbnails Activate Uncommanded When Highlighted

I have created a PAL DVD project using DVD Encore 2.0. The check build and flow chart processes state there are no errors. The transcoded video plays fine on computers allowing access to all thumbnails, menus and submenus, and once the "Play Movie" button is selected on the Main menu the video plays fine on most stand alone DVD players. However on stand alone DVD players there is a recurring problem when trying to select thumbnails in the submenus. When a video thumbnail or button is highlighted by using the four direction buttons on the remote control, the thumbnail starts playing the video without the "Enter" request. There is a main menu page and then two sub menu pages. From the Main Menu, it is possible to enter the first submenu page by selecting "Chapters" where there are six video thumbnails and a NEXT button to access the second submenu page. It is not possible to select any of the thumbnails other than the two nearest to the top left thumbnail, either of which play the video uncommanded when highlighted. Is there a setting that I have missed in the preferences prior to transcoding. I have used PAL DV High Quality 7MB VBR 2 Pass which I understand results in good quality.
Thank you in advance for any help that may be offered.

You are quite right. Stupidly I confused "Auto Activate" with Animate thumbnail. Everything now works perfectly on the stand alones. I cannot thank you enough as although the solution itself was very simple, you have saved me many many hours of head scratching and frustration. Thanks.

  • PNGs + Video Thumbnails = HUGE render times

    Dear Users,
I've always used Tiffs before as my export option from Photoshop, but just learned recently that I should be using PNGs. However, now when I use those PNGs in a timeline with custom sized video thumbnails, the render times are LONG. I'm used to rendering cause I'm on a 1st generation 17" MBP, but I'm talking an hour to render a 24-second sequence. The timeline consists of 5 PNG layers and 5 240x180 (Multimedia Small 4:3) 29.97 videos using DV/DVCPRO - NTSC as the Compressor and quality set to 50%. When I drop one of the video files into a new timeline, FCP6 asks me if I want to conform the timeline to meet the clip settings, and I choose yes, but as soon as I put any of the PNGs over the video, I get the orange Unlimited render bar. Any ideas as far as what's causing the Long times beside me being on a laptop? I figure it's gotta be something I'm doing wrong, just like I wasn't using PNGs before. This is for a DVD's Scene selection menu, hence the small videos acting as previews of each scene.
    Thank you all,
    -Brian

Found the problem. The key was where I said "from Motion." The movie came in with Animation as the compressor type, so when I dropped it onto a new timeline, FCP asked me if I wanted to conform the sequence to match the clip, and when I chose OK, it changed the video rendering from YUV to RGB and the compressor from DV/DVCPRO to Animation. Now for the science of what I found and who I tested it all: PSD = 18 layers, 2.4MB TIF = "layered" Tif, 2.5MB PNG = 540KB
In a brand new timeline, the video and .psd were Unlimited and need rendering to play back smoothly. The tif and png were both fine to play back.
With the conformed timeline settings, the video then played fine, but the psd, tif, and png were all red "Needs Render."
Now as for the rendering itself, the video was a 7 second, 14 frame Animation clip. Still images were placed 3 seconds from the end of the video then rendered. PSD = 18 seconds, TIF = 5 seconds, PNG = 5 seconds to render.
    • Both the TIF and PNG could be freely moved around, including over the whole video without requiring another render. The .psd would loose it's render when layered over the video.
In a second brand new NTSC timeline, video captured from DVCAM tape was fine, along with the tif and png again. The psd yet again had the orange render bar even when layered over nothing.
So there's my unscientific tests. I've hated working with the PSDs natively, and those numbers show why. I'll continue to use PNGs because they're both small file sized, nice quality, and fast rendering.
As for my original problem, it was the Animation compression that was causing the problems.
What do you all do for your Photoshop workflows?

  • Missing Video thumbnails in iphoto in iphoto 11

I have just discovered lots of missing movies in my iphoto library, I have re imported them from an iphoto backup, and if i search for the keyword movie they appear, but no thumbnails appear in the photo display. I have tried rebuilding the library but none of the imported videos show up. New videos imported from my camera show up fine.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
I triple checked a handful of the video files and they aren't exhibiting black at the start.
    How I checked:
    - Select black video thumbnail image
    - Press space bar (to "zoom" and begin playing video"
    - Stop video playback at approx. five seconds in (video counter reads 00:00:05)
    - Rewind "playhead" to very start of video so that the counter reads 00:00:00 and there is definately an image / content being displayed (e.g. is not black)
See attached screen shot with playhead at 00:00:00

  • How can I delete the iPhoto Video Thumbnails in iMovie?

It's been a while since I've used iMovie, and when I opened the application tonight, I got the following message:
"iMovie needs to generate thumbnails for the videos in your iPhoto library. This process may take several minutes.
You can postpone this operation by clicking Later, but your iPhoto videos will be unavailable until the next time you restart iMovie."
I accidentally hit NOW, and the process began. When I realized it had used about 5 GBs of space, I force quit iMovie, but the disk space was not reclaimed. I need this space back now... I can import the iPhoto videos later. How can I undo the generated iPhoto video thumbnails? There was no project generated, and so no folder with the thumbnails in them. Where are they located? I would like to delete the iPhoto video thumbnails within iMovie, but preserve the thumbnails for other projects. And of course I would like to be sure that I keep the videos themselves in iPhoto - I definitely do not want to lose the videos there. Thanks for your help.
    Greg

The latest incarnation of iMovie doesn't offer the 'Export with Quicktime'-options, the previous versions did.

  • Video thumbnails scrambled, won't playback (v3.4.3)

My video thumbnails in Aperture (version 3.4.3) are scrambled. Sometimes I can see part of a reference thumbnail frame (often in monochrome or with a single color overlay, like green), sometimes it's just all snow.
    1) I just restored my mac mini from a time machine backup.
    2) I also just imported an iPhoto library
If I browse to a pre-existing (before Time Machine restore) Aperture project, the correct thumbnail appears briefly before changing to the scrambled version.
When I select the video for playback all I get is a blank Viewer window (not video content, no controls, no playback).
If I browse to the source file via finder the video thumbnail displays and the video plays back correctly.
    I have tried:
    1) verifying and repairing disk permissions
    2) repairing Aperture permissions
    3) repairing the Aperture database
    4) rebuilding the Aperture database
    5) regenerating thumbnails (select video Photos->Regenerate Thumbnails) (thumbnail changes, still scrambled)
I don't use Aperture often so I'm not 100% sure when this started, but it seems to be after this current restore as supported by the brief correct appearance of old video thumbnails before they update to the scrambled version.
    OS X 10.8.2
    Aperture 3.4.3
    Example of affected video:
    IMG_0002.MOV
    QuickTime movie
    5MB
    640x480
    Duration: 00:11
    Capture Source: iPhone 3GS

I suggest to check the video codecs you have installled; if you use Perian or have a flip-camera, you may have an incompatible video codec installed, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4155
Why was a TimeMachine restore necessary? And did you use any helper/uninstaller/cleaner utilities, before you made the backup or after restoring? Sometimes this kind of helpers remove too much. I  this case you may need to reinstall Mt. Lion to restore missing system components, that are not included in your TimeMachine backup.
Have a look at this thread Re: Import video to Aperture library on Mountain Lion,
and also at the post: Re: Import video to Aperture library on Mountain Lion in the same thread.
To reinstall from the "Recovery partition" see Linc Davis's post here: Re: Garageband doesn't open in Mac Mini mid 2011

  • How to create a video thumbnail???

I'm pretty new to FCP but I've just finished several shorts and I'm getting ready to upload them to my web site and other video sites. I would like a specific frame to appear as the video thumbnail. (In other words: the "preview frame" that appears in the player when it's not playing).
No one in my periphery seems to know how to do this.
Most video sites give you their choices of frames you can use. For instance YouTube gives you three options but chances are none will be the frame you want.
I would like to select the specific frame I want, regardless of where I upload it.
Has anyone had experience with this?

I would like to select the specific frame I want, regardless of where I upload it.
That's not going to work. The frames available on YouTube are set to specific times in the video.
Other services such as Vimeo might use a different timing or a different system altogether.
QuickTime compatible media can take advantage of the Set Poster Frame function and it can be any frame that you choose. Once the clip is outside the QuickTime environment, you take your chances with what's on offer.
The only way you can have any control over this is to set the poster frame in a QuickTime movie and host it on a compatible site such as MobileMe for example.
