Button widget 'back' bug

Hi,
I am pretty new to captivate (using 5) so am not sure if this is a bug or if there is something else I need to add to my slides,
I have used the button widget to create forward and back buttons on my master slide to give the user control of the presentation. On the first time through the presentation the forward button works fine with the slides not advancing until this has been pressed but if I use the back button at any point in the presentation it then plays at the original speed runnign through all of the slides.
Once the user has returned to check something or re-read something on the previous slide I would like this to pause until the click the next slide button again.
The end presentation is part of a course and overall there will be a few hundred slides so I am trying to avoid having to add something individually onto each slide - unless there is a quick way to do this?
Thanks,
Mary

Hello,
Not sure if I understand the issue, have been using the button widget on master slides.
A quick way to have a normal button on all slides (or multiple buttons): put them on one slide, and do all the configuration, then copy them, select all the other slides in the filmstrip and paste. They will all have the same functionality and be in the same position.
Another idea: there is also a PerpetualButton widget: put it on the first slide and set its timing for the rest of the project. But of course, you have to like that button or to adapt it in Flash.

  • Spry Radio Button widget for CS3

    Hi,
I can't seem to find a definitive answer if the Spry Radio Button widget for CS3 is available or not. The help menu says that it's there, but I can't find it. I've updated my Spry and checked the web and can't find an answer. Can anyone help me out?
    Thanks!

I can't remember that far back, but if you cannot find i, then you may be right; it's not there. CS5 has it located on the insert bar as follows
but you can aslo go to the Insert Menu, Insert->Form->Spry Validation Radio Group.

  • Print Button Widget disappears if print properties is cancelled

    Hello All,
Maybe I am doing something wrong, but when using the Captivate 5 print button widget the button hides when the clicked.  The print properties panel appears. That all makes sense (the button does not need to appear in the screen print), but if the user cancel the print job without actually printing it, then the button does not re-appear...  This seems like a major flaw.
Has anyone successfully used this widget dispite this flaw or have any idea why it is not displaying again if the print dialogue box is cancelled out.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • How to uninstall a third party home button widget from 5c ?

    Hey there
I have just bought my wife a new 5C.
Previous to this she had an iphone 4 that had a third party home button widget installed (due to the home button on the handset crapping out a while back)
I have done a restore on the new 5c from the latest backup from the old 4 and the third party home button widget is now on the new phone. Obviously she doesnt need it as the home button on the 5c handset works fine (for now!)
Can any one tell me how to get rid of it ? I cant figure it out for the life of me !
    Cheers guys.

If it's Apple's built-in "widget", it is called "Assistive Touch" and can be found in the "Accessibility" settings.
    1) Open the "Settings" app
    2) Select "General"
    3) Select "Accessibility"
    4) Scroll to the bottom of the list, tap "Assistive Touch" and turn it off.
    5) The "widget" should now be gone!
Enjoy the 5c! Which colour did you guys go for?

  • Button Widget - Need it to jump to next slide, not simply continue

I'm new to Cp 5.5. I was an expert in Cp4 and prior versions, but due to work changes I've not worked with Captivate in a few years and am just getting back into it. Definitely things have changed!
I setup a master slide and at the top-right I placed one of the static SWF button widgets that comes with Captivate. In the options for it I set it to go to the next slide when clicked, however upon preview it is continuing on the same slide and not jumping to the next one. I tried it with a few of the swf buttons and they all work the same. Am I doing something wrong? Or is the code broken on these buttons?
If the latter, then I guess my option, if I really want to keep the look of the button (I do), then is to just use it as an image button?

    Hello and welcome back,
The static button coming with Captivate 5.5 has no pausing point but it should work OK, does for me anywat. How did you test? Can you insert a text caption with the system variable rdinfoCurrentFrame to see if there is indeed no jump to next slide?
If you want the static button with a pausing point, at half its duration, you can download it from my blog:
    What I (dis)like in Captivate 5.5
I do not understand your last question? You want only the image, not the functionalities of that button? You should be aware that only static objects can be inserted on a master slide, not interactive objects.

  • How to Use an Image to Customize the Static Button Widget

Can I just get someone to help me figure out how to use an image to customize the static button widget, please?
I have tried using several different types of images, but none of them seem to actually change the appearance of the button.
    Thanks!
    Laura
    Captivate 5.5

I tried to use the tools within the widget itself - it offers you the opportunity to use an image (see screenshot below).
I also opened it in Flash and tried to replace the images for one of the button styles there w/ my own, but in re-publishing the SWF from there I broke the widget.  When I attempted to use the edited widget, there were no customization controls available after I inserted it (see screenshot two below).

  • Adding an image to the Static Button Widget

    Hi all
I managed to convince my client to let me do my own navigation instead of using the by default navigation bar and its limitations. I finally will be able to do branching and customised feedback on several slides! Great. BUT. There is a but. I need to make the new buttons look like the current ones: Pause/Play, previous, next, TOC and Exit.
I was happy to discover that I could use a static button widget on my master to deal with my previous and next buttons for all my standard slides. But when I try to add an image of my button the way I want it to look, it looks like that:
If I resize the button the picture remains at the same size:
I don't get the Image feature here at all and I wonder if it's possible to customise the button with our own pictures...
    Any success anybody?

Alright thanks for your suggestions. Yes I am publishing to a slightly different location and I pasted the picture at the root of the published folder. The pic is found but it appears tiny:
It should replace the button by default but it is added to the button actually, by its side.
    Cheers

  • How do I make a Radio Button Widget Report to an LMS?

Alright....still trying to solve my basic problem.....
I can put in a radio button widget which looks great, but radio buttons do not report info to LMS.  THen I can use Ravvi's code style to set a variable based on which radio button was clicked and then take a specific action depending on the value.  The action I want is to send info to LMS.  How can I do this?

I may have, but I have run across many Survey forms that do exactly that.
Some also have checkboxes as well and they are used for Check all that apply.
For all I know they may be using JavaScript code for the buttons to react the way the do.
I don't know if any of you are old enough to remember the old two button light switches. push one in and the others pop out. Push the other in and the first pops out.  That's the button action I see on many survey forms.
I am not saying it correct. But if its not correct, how does one change their mind if the clicked the wrong choice?

  • Radio Button Widget Highlight Options

In Captivate 5.5, is it possible for the standard radio button widget (RadioButtons.swf) to not have a highlight color behind the text? I just want a transparent background with text so the master slide background shows. Adjusting the Alpha Channel only effects the radio buttons themselves, not the highlight color.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
But I have bad news, having explored this widget a lot, and struggled with that 'highlight color' a lot. I try to put it on a uniform colored background and apply the background color as a Highlight. Didn't find another way.
Perhaps a tip: do download the enhanced version of this widget, that allows you to control it more (variable can be changed by advanced actions and displayed). It was created by Jim Leichliter (CaptivatePro) and it is FREE:

  • Adding full screen code into Captivate 5's basic Button Widget

    Hi everyone!
I was able to create a full screen button in Flash that works with Captivate 5 projects, however, I want to be able to active the full screen feature for every button created using the basic 'button' widget that comes with the Captivate program.  I am not a AS3 programmer so I think my issue is that I am confused as  to where to place the full screen code into the existing 'button widget'  code. • How do I get Widgets back on my Dock and Flash Mcaromedia Problem

I took off Widgets from my Dock last week, now I want it back. Could someone please tell me how to do so?
I have done a search on the Macromedia Problem and I just cant figure it out!
When I go on the Forums I get "The page “All things iPod, iTunes and beyond | iLounge” has content of MIME type “application/x-shockwave-flash”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed."
Then it also directs me to the site to download it from Macromedia.com, after I download, nothing happends, tried numerous times.
    Could someone please help????
    Thankyou

    Hi there,
To get your widgets back in the dock go to your applications folder click and hold Dashboard. Drag it to where you want it in the dock and release. Good to go.
I unfortunately do not have an answer for you on your Macromedia dilemma. I have run into this myself without resolve. It may not be Mac compatiable?...Maybe someone else will have more insight.
    Take care and good luck,
    Lee

    WidgetID theSelectedWidget = controlView->GetWidgetID();
    if (theChange == kTrueStateMessage)
    //if (theSelectedWidget == kEXTCODGoButtonWidgetID

    Hi,
Do you have any idea about how to get the class name (ex: kSplineItemBoss) from a ClassID.
    I know how to get the class id;
                                                      ClassID unknownClassID = ::GetClass(unknown);
I found it from an example..
now i want to know which class name related to that ClassID..
    Thanks.

  • Assigning Actions to Radio Button Widget

I'd like to be able to use the radio button widget as a way to jump to slides. I created a variable for each option (assigning a value of 1 to each) and tied it to an advanced action I've attempted to create. I then added a button that executes that advanced option once the radio button is selected. It doesn't seem to be working.
Does anyone know how to do this, by chance?
My advanced action script looks like this:
Check if [var1 is equal to 1]
    begin
    Jump to slide Slide 4
    end
    Or Else
    begin
    end
Check if [var 2 is equal to 1]
    begin
    Jump to slide Slide 5
    begin
    end
    Etc, etc.

    Hi,
Only one variable is sufficient to acheive this.I tried the following steps and it worked.
    1. Create a variable say var1
    2. Create advanced actions
Check if [var1 is equal to 1]
    begin
    Jump to slide Slide 4
    end
    Or Else
    begin
    end
Check if [var1  is equal to 2]
    begin
    Jump to slide Slide 5
    begin
    end
    3. Insert the Radio Button widget
    4. In Widget Parameters provide the comma seperated values like 1,2,3
    5. Provide the variable name (var1)
    6. Insert a button and call the above script.
    thanks

  • Publishing the 'button' widget using the source file

    Hi everyone!
I want to use Captivate 5's 'button' widget, but wanted to change the design of the buttons. The source file I found was located at: Adobe Captivate 5/Gallery/Widgets/Source/ButtonsWidget/Button.fla
The problem is, when I try to publish this source, I get an error that says "/Applications/Adobe Captivate 5/Gallery/Widgets/Source/ButtonsWidget/comp/transformTool/TransformTool.as, Line 1314    Warning: 3553: Function value used where type Boolean was expected.  Possibly the parentheses () are missing after this function reference."
What does this mean? Does anyone know how to publish this widget correctly? Please help!
    Thanks.

If you are on Windows you can just create a message in Outlook Express, then save it as a .eml file. This is just a plain text file in MIME format. (You can probably do the same from most simple email client apps... except Outlook).
To load this in to a Javamail object, you will still need a Session (which in-turn means you need an SMTP Server, although the server just has to be a valid IP belonging to a computer which is network accessible). I typically use the com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPMessage for simple SMTPMessage operations. You can load this from you .eml file like this:
    FileInputStream fileSource = new FileInputStream(yourEMLFile);
    Session session = Session.getInstance(null, null);
SMTPMessage message = new SMTPMessage(session, fileSource);Or if you want to use the javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage class just use this instead. It has the same session/stream constructor

  • Customising the button widget

    Hi
I would like to include the navigation options on all my slides to give the user control of the presentation, from reading other posts, the best way to do this seems to be to include the button widget on the master slide. I have looked at inserting this but is there a way to make this just an image of an arrow rather than a text box?
    Thanks

    Hello,
The button widget is a static widget. If you have access to a Flash Developer, it could be customized, the source file is available with Captivate. Because it is a static widget you can use it on the master slide, which is not the case for interactive objects (like buttons or click boxes or interactive widgets). And it has the look of a real button, there are different states when hovering over it etc. But it is indeed a Text Button. A more simple solution would be to delete the text and put an image of an arrow on top of the widget, but its color will not change with the state.
    I blogged about this widget:
