Button won't work on brand new ipod

i just got the 30gb yesterday. everything went fine through installation until i tried to shuffle songs, and realized the forward button isn't working. can anybody help me with this and tell me what the problem might be?

It clicks like it's supposed to but in order for it to actually select something I have to press REALLY HARD. I spoke to Apple today and they said to send it back. So annoying, especially after I waited and tracked it from Shanghai, to Alaska, to Indiana, to Tennessee and then watched it sit at the local hub over the weekend before finally getting it. Now I've gotta send it back and wait for them to receive it before they ship it back. I wonder if the replacement will be coming from Shanghai again. Ugh. It was laser engraved so I'm sure that's adding to the headache. Has anyone out there needed to return an engraved iPod? Am I right in guessing that the replacement will be coming from the same place the original came from? Has anyone else had the center button problem?

On/off button not working on brand new iPod touch 5th gen

My daughter has just unboxed a brand new iPod touch 5th gen that arrived today.
It wouldn't turn on so I assumed the battery was flat which I thought was odd but I plugged it in and it came on - 90% + battery.
The on/off button does not do anything. We've pressed it, held it - nothing. If I press the on/off and the home button together, Siri starts.
It will only switch off after a minute has elapsed. We can't do it manually.
What's going on? Any ideas?

my itunes won't recognise my ipod touch, I've had one before and there was no problem, but this one is brand new, my computer recognises it but my itunes doesn't, help please? I've followed the steps on the support but it won't work, I've updated my iTunes and everything..

So yu tried everthing here included here including removing and reinstalling all the Apple software?

Next I would try another computer to rule out an iPod problem.

Backlight doesn't work on brand new iPod

Hi, I just received an ipod today for my birthday and the backlight worked for about 10 seconds after I turned the ipod on and now it won't work anymore. Everything else seems to be working fine. I was able to load my music on and everything. Do I just need to return it or is there a way to fix it?

Face time isn't working on brand new ipod touch 4-new apple id also

Not sure why, I've got a new apple id and i enter the password and it just kicks me back to the "enter password" screen. I've doublechecked the password etc.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Can't get menu to work in brand new ipod classic.

I cannot get the menu to say anything other than "video" at the top. I can't get to where it says "music" on the menu. I've reset 3 or 4 times, but it doesn't help. I had it at first, but can't get it back. Help!

Toggle your Hold switch at the top, make sure you cant see any RED, when you do the steps below
Press Menu and Center Button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON, then let go.
Select the preferred language
it will bring you to the Menu screen.
Go down and select music.

Power button and voice control buttons won't work on my macbook pro retina

I found that my power and voice control buttons won't work on my new Macbook pro retina. I can't shut it down or restart it in any way. And Im afraid if I force to shut it down I can't turn on it cuz the power button won't work. What should I do? Any idea???

Back up all data.
Quit Facetime and Messages if either is running.
Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following item from the Library folder to the Trash (either may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in. Try the applications again. If they work now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
Step 2
If you still have problems, quit again. In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Trash. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash too.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again.

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.

Brand new ipod touch not working like it should??

I have a brand new ipod touch that i got last tuesday.and every downloaded app will stop working after i have had it for about a day..like it starts to load the app then just goes back to homescreen..all pre-installed apps work fine.
but i have tryed restoring my ipod and it doesnt really fix it because all the apps stop working just like before..and i have also tryed deleting and re-installing the apps but is still doing the same thing.
Is there a way to fix this or should i get it replaced??

Maybe your using too much Virtual Memory. Try holding the sleep/wake button and the home button until you see the silver apple.

The head phone jack on my brand new iPod touch 5th generation is not working properly

The head phone jack on my brand new iPod touch 5th generation is not working properly. It has sound without the headphones in but when I plug them in it has no sound, it's low, or poppy. I had only used my apple supplied headphones once before and it worked fine. I know it's not the headphones because I tried them on my girlfriends phone and they worked fine.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.

- Reset all settings

Brand new ipod touch suddenly stopped working. please help!

I was messing around on my brand new ipod touch and it suddenly crashed. it flashed a static-y black and now the screen is bluish white and won't change. I tried holding both the home button and the black button on top of the ipod and neither helped. I even connected it back to my mac book but nothing happened. please help! i've only had it for two days!

That sounds like a mechanical problem. You might want to insert and remove the headphone plug several times and see if it fixed the issue. If it does not, call Apple. 800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada.

Brand new Ipod touch won't charge or turn on

I recently got a brand new Ipod touch. The first thing I did was plug it in to charge it. A red battery icon showed up on the screen. I left the ipod on the charger for hours and the icon was still red. It won't turn on either. I have tried connecting it to ITunes but the red battery icon just comes up whenever I plug it into the computer and it does not show up on itunes. I am new to the ipod touch so maybe I am doing something wrong, or is there a fault in the ipod??
