Buttons containing URL's dont work when published.

I am using Captivate 3 and when publishing a project as an swf any buttons which include links to external URL’s don’t work.
When the buttons are clicked on in the browser nothing happens, the URL’s seem to have been lost. Other buttons in the project which navigate to other slides carry on working, only external URL buttons have stopped.
Could anyone please help me with this?

ECourse radio buttons dont work when published as a HTML file

Hi Guys
We are creating some eCourse's in Captivate 7 but when they are published in to HTML format the radio buttons don't work - they wont let you click them. (Have tried IE, Chrome and Firefox)
However is you publish the course as swf it works fine - unfortunately the web provider we upload to doesn't support swf so they NEED to be HTML
Any ideas on a fix? We did a chat session to a support guy and he said as a workaround copy all slides to a blank project and publish that which we have done today and the same issue has is there.

I am assuming you have Windows 7 and you have SP1 installed
As a testing, please follow these steps :
1) Close Adobe Captivate 7
2) Go to this location : C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Adobe
3) Rename "Captivate 7.0" folder to "1234"
4) Launch Adobe Captivate 7
5) Open any of your projects and then republish it.
If issue still occurs, share one of your project with me ([email protected])

Which buttons dont work when you run windows xp

the keyboard for a mac and a pc are kinda different. are there ne buttons that dont work when you run xp with bootcamp?

Only one I can think of (if you're using the latest version of Boot Camp) is the "delete" key won't act as "delete" (such as in ctrl + alt + delete) under Windows. Other than that, every other key should function correctly. (The Apple/CMD key will work as the "Windows key." And the "option" key will be "alt."

Close window not working when publishing as HTML5 on Adobe Connect using CP8

Hi all,
I'm trying to get a button that closes the project/window at the end of a video. I am using CP8.
I can get it to work when publishing as SWF to Adobe Captivate.
It also works when publishing as HTML5 but not on an LMS (Adobe Connect).
I have tried various methods including
- On success execute a Javascript = window.close()
- On success - exit
- On success execute advanced action = Assign cpCmdExit with 1
I also tried adjusting the slide settings On Exit: exit and the publishing settings Project End Options: Action: Close project.
Nothing works.
Any ideas?

Hi Aimee,
Can you test this to close the course window:
Insert 2 buttons or smart shape used as buttons (as Finish course buttons).
On the first button apply an action to execute javascript and in the script window, use this script: parent.close()
On the second button apply an action to execute javascript and in the script window, use this script: top.window.close()
Upload the published project on your LMS and check if any of these works for you.

Captivate 6: Can't get any JavaScript to work when published as SWF

Windows 7 x64
I have a button with an action of "Execute JavaScript" and can't event get a simple alert("hello"); to work when published as SWF. I've tried publishing it with each of the different Flash Player versions. JavaScript works fine when published as HTML5.

@Erickj: Either do what Rod stated (adjusting your Flash Security settings) or test your content from a true web server. Flash automatically trusts content coming off a true web server where the web address begins with http or https and ends in .htm or .html.
The nice thing about Cp 7 is that it has a built-in web server so you don't run into issues like this when testing your content.

Does iWeb blogging (comments, etc.) only work when published to .Mac?

The subject says it all, but I was wondering how well the blog features of iWeb work when publishing to a non-.Mac host.
Right now I use WordPress for my blog. Is iWeb's blog feature a reasonable alternative?

The iWeb features which are .Mac only are: Direct one-step uploading, Password protection, Hit counter, Slideshow with viewing controls, and Blog Comments/Searching.

Continue Button not working when publishing to swf

I have created a quiz in Captivate and set my pass/fail options to opening a URL on successful completion. I need to publish it in flash (swf) but the Continue button does not open the URL. It works perfectly if I publish the file in .exe format.
Here are my current settings (I've swapped my URL to the BBC website whilst testing)
I am using version 5.5

Links not working when published

I know, I know, this topic has been discussed before but I am very very new at this and most answers I just don't understand (I am used to visiting not building sites). Anyway, I am having a **** of a time getting some links in my webpages to work (better said, most work, some not). I don't understand, I've checked all links, no problems (not even when published locally). But when I FTP it to my host something seems to get lost in the transfer. I've deleted the pages where this problem occurs and made new ones. Doesn't help. Does any one have any idea and know how to explain the answer to me in the simplest terms? I would be so very grateful!

The correct ftp settings would be your username and password and what you use to connect to your server. If you have already uploaded your site, then these settings would be correct. If using Cyberduck with incorrect settings, you would not be able to connect to your hosting space full stop.
Anyway, you said that you were just uploading the contents? If this is the case, perhaps if some of your links do not work, then you have not uploaded all the files that you need to. If uploading the contents of your site folder, then when Cyberduck asks you to upload, or you click it under action at the top, it will ask you to select the files - normally you would go to User and then Sites and then click on your site folder. When this shows up, click on the first file that is shown and do a select all and this will then upload all the contents. Check to ensure that all the html pages are there, plus their relevant folders - these folders contain all the CSS - so for each html page their is a folder of the same name e.g. About Us.html and About Us folder. There are also feed files that need to be uploaded too.
What you can try to see if it works is to upload your whole site folder and separate index file and see if the links work when you do this. Your url will be different if you do this, but just try it and see.
The other problems when links do not work is that you could have either an image or another text box too near to the navigation menu or link that covers it up so that it will not work. Go into iWeb and check this by doing a command A to see placement and you can then move images and text boxes around if this is the case.

All hyperlinks are not working when published

All of the links work on iweb 09; however, when published some of the links are not working. To get an idea of what I mean you can go to the site, thinkwhatif.org and see it. Would someone be able to provide an answer how to solve it? I have unlinked and relinked too and that didn't work (at least the one time I did it).

It's a layout issue. Two of your buttons (who or what) are in the navigation part of your page (nav_layer), which is back layer of your page. In your page, the content (body_layer) overlays the bottom of this layer (nav_layer) where the buttons are.

Show layout (iWeb > View > Show layout) and replace the buttons in the content. As you can see , you 've got also a empty textbox in the content

Preloader not working when published

Hi...I have situation with my preloader. I am loading audio
from an external folder. When I click on the audio a preloader
loads the audio and upon completion plays audio.
My problem lies in that when I test the movie everything
works as expected. Once I view the actual .swf or the .exe after I
publish, the preloader doesn't work. The audio still loads but the
preloader does nothing. It might be important to not after I
ctrl+return to test, I ctrl+return again to test as if it were
online. It works when I do the simulate download and not right away
then.
Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Is there a
setting in the publish settings I need to change?
This is the first time I've had this happen. Usually I have a
pre-loader at the begining of a flash file and load the file. This
one is in a movie clip and only activated upon a mouse action.
Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

This is an example of what I am doing
I have a panoramic shot that is in an image scroller, that
panoramic is of a group of buildings each building has a button
next to it. Those buttons then call up another movie clip from the
library using the attachMovie clip to show another mini movie clip
of what the building looks like inside, and what the purpose is.
Issue:
The buttons within the movie clip that is loaded into the
image scroller fail to work. If I just load the .swf files into the
browser it works just fine...
but the issue is I have a huge file with an image scroller so
I need a progress bar and a MovieClipLoader function.
How do I now get the other code attached to the buttons
within the movie clip that says attachMovieClip to work within the
context.
I am so baffelled as to why it won't work...

My actionScript skills are very limited so any help is
greatly appreciated but needs to be supplied in simple language.

Buttons inside movie clip dont work

I have a simple HTML website with 5 buttons one of which, a movie clip, drops down 3 more buttons but the buttons dont always work. I get wierd issues for instance: whether I'm on the mcs page or another page completly the drop down buttons only work when Im on the parent movie clips page. When the buttons do work and you click on the button of the page your on they only work once then the whole issue repeats itself. Hopefully to clarify here is the code inside of the movie clip that directs the drop down buttons.

From what I see you are trying to somehow program a Actionscript only iframe navigation. That will never work without an external Interface call to the Browsers Javascript. This is complicated stuff and surely not what you have in mind. If concept art, draw sketch etc. are all separate swf files, you should load them (instead of the html you embedded them in)
