Buttons in an attached movie from library

I used the tutorial posted at

Now I have a button on my stage that attaches a movie from the
library.
on (release) {
this.holder.attachMovie(“contents”,”contentslinks”,1);
It works fine but I also have buttons inside the attached
movie clip that need to control a movie that is already on the
stage.
contentslinks.contents_link_1.onRelease = function() {
content_mc._visible = false; book_mc.directGotoPage(4);
If I just place the attached movie on the stage the buttons
work but I when I proceed to use attachMovie, they do not work. How
do I get the buttons in the attached movie to address the movie
that is already on the stage?

you can use the enabled property of movieclips to
enable/disable them.

Downloading rented movie from library to ATV

I rented a movie from itunes and downloaded it on my laptop. I have not watched the movie yet and I wanted to watch it on Apple TV (ATV). I open my itunes and it is listed on rented movies and gives me an option to "move" from library to ATV (only after I downloaded the new update), but it will not sync to the ATV. The syncing starts but then 10 sec later just returns to the orignal screen without transfer. Suggestions???

Only the newest iPods (Touch, iPhone, Classic, 3rd gen Nano) support rental movies. You've posted in the forum for a much older iPod, one that doesn't supprt videos of any kind. Which iPod do you actually have? When did you buy it?

ITunes Deleting movies from library

When you delete a movie from iTunes and tell iTunes to move it into the trash, it doesn't. The file doesn't get deleted until you restart you computer.
Looking through the folder systems. The files chosen to be deleted are gone, but the trash shows empty and the available hard disk space hasn't changed in response to them being deleted.
Maybe a trash similar to that of iPhoto should be introduced so you have a trash within itunes.

When I delete things from iTunes they do wind up in the regular trash, sometimes you need to wait a minute (it looks empty briefly) but that is where they do go so you can undelete them if you want.

With New 7.0 how to put movies from Library into iPod??

Help Please.
I now have 7.0 and usually I drag and drop movies into my ipod from itunes library. I have several short movies already in the ipod and it seems if I want to add more, the ones that are in will be taken out and replaced with the new one. I changed my orriginal movies to m4p and did not keep them in the library, so I think I will lose them when I try to add.
The only way I can think of to do it is to revert back to 6.3, put in the movie and then update again.
Is there any way I can keep my movies in the ipod and add more without losing them?? Any ideas??

additional info: I found some hint that the iPad can't take just any old movie format, so I used "Convert to format for iPad", an option i had never seen on iTunes on my imac before. But sadly, even the .m4v format of the movie will not show up on the iPad under iTunes nor under iMovie.
I can certainly take an iPad iMovie trailer to the iMac if I 'finish' it, but it is a final a product, so i would have to break it up into all the little sections again.
So I still cannot seem to move a movie file to the iPad iMovie edit window. All my 'finished' iMovies show up under "movies" on the iPad, but never under the iMovie edit window. Hope that's clear.
I want to use those new trailers with my home video.
NEWEST Update, still no joy
I found this tech article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4792 that says i can move an iMovie from iOS to iMovie on my Mac. I followed the steps exactly, but iMovie on teh Mac does not recognize the iMovie Trailer, so the Import button stays grayed out.

Can't play movies from library on Apple tv

I have been streaming purchased content from my PC to my apple tv with no problems until today. I can see my PC library displayed on the apple tv menu on my tv. I can select a movie to play but after a bit of spinning I end up with the message "authorization is required" and instructions on how to authorize my PC through itunes. I have tried so many different things to correct this but with no luck. I have deauthorized and authorized. I removed all other authorized computers, so my PC is the only one of the five that is authorized. I have reset my apple tv. The problem is not the ATV2 because it recognized my library from my PC but it will not play. I only have one apple ID so I know that is not the problem. I can play all purchased on my PC and stream it to the apple tv via airplay. But I cannot directly play a movie due to the "authorization is required message." I have no idea what to do. Any ideas, or similar issues anyone has been able to resolve?

Since yesterday, many AppleTV users around the world have been experiencing the same issue. From what I've been able to tell from other postings, it's related to the Apple servers - they are being upgraded for the iCloud and many Apple TV users are getting the "Need to Authorize Computer" message when they try to play a TV show or movie. Your iTunes movie RENTALS and MUSIC should still work though.
A get-around is to stream your TV shows and purchased movies. To do that, start the movie or TV show in iTunes on your computer as if you are going to watch it on your computer. Once it starts to play, click on the little icon in the lower right-hand corner (hover your mouse around the area to get it to show up)....and then click on "Apple TV" (one of the two options the little icon gives you).....that will start it streaming on your TV. It's going to "push" it to your APple TV box rather than it being pulled there by Apple TV itself.

How do i delete a partially downloaded movie from library

i started to download harry potter and a few extras started to download but i only wanted the film. now i have stooped them they just show up greyed out in my movies library and on downloads, how can i delete these as this is becomming annoying

Yes it will stop other downloads on the iPad until you can get rid of it. Have you tried the really standard, basic stuff - restart, reset the iPad?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Move from library module to develop module : same photo but colors differ

When in the Library module, i see the original photo with its original color.
When i move to the Develop module, it automatically changed or lightened the colors of the same photo.
Did i set this automatic mode on ? or how can i turn off this mode ?

In library LR uses a preview, from the camera, or rendered on import. In Develop it renders from the RAW to LR's standard starting point set up by the Adobe Team. You can make it more like the Preview by applying a preset you develop to better match the look and saving it to apply to your imported images.

Problem streaming movies from library after update to 5.0.1

Hi, I just updated my apple tv to 5.0.1 and after doing so it is unable to load/play my videos from my home library. It starts to do it but is v...e....r...y slow to load the video, as in, 1/2 hour has passed to get ready to play a 2 minute video and it still hasn't started yet. Purchased tv shows work fine. Netflix streams fine. I have restarted the apple tv, itunes, and my airport. Please help! Everything was working fine before the update. I have a first gen apple tv and the most recent version of itunes.

Try deleting the account(s) you're having problems with, resetting your phone (hold on/off and home buttons simultaneously 10-15 seconds until Apple logo appears, release buttons and wait for it to restart), then add back your mail accounts. I've read that this has worked for some.

Oh boy, movies from library gone!

I upgraded to iPhoto 7.x when it was released and everything went fine (other than the fact that it's slow). Now when I went to double click on a movie I found out my movies are gone! I do show file and the folder is emtpy. I did a search using spotlight for the movie name, NADA.
iPhoto certainly does not live up to the standard of an Apple product. I am disappointed. And I know a lot of people here have had a lot of problems. Apple should do something to make up for such a disaster, iPhoto 8.x should be free. (and hopefully better?)

Give this a try: delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. A damaged pref file has been known to cause a variety of unusual iPhoto behaviors. It's worth a try.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Transfering movies from library to icloud

I moved previous purchases from another computer and added them to my library. They are stored in my imedia folder on my computer, and show in my library allowing me to download when synced to my computer, but not on my device as being part of the icloud. How do I get these movies to show available to download from the icloud on my device?

Load movie from library

is it possible to load a mc from the library on to the stage with specific coordinates, without uning a mc to load it in to? Simply something like this:
load the menuMc on the stage at x = 200 and y = 300;
i called the identifier menuMcAs

ok i tried about everything i know..(which isnt a lot)
i think the correct way to write it is this:

and i put this line at the very top of my code, which is in a .as file.
i cant see the menu!!! its not working.

I don't usually download video from the iTunes store. I had a couple of long plane rides coming up and thought I might have time to watch the Stanford IOS7 programming class. On the plane I discovered this issue which has gone unaddressed since 2011 and has been worsened in Mavericks. in 2011 the advice was to open iTunes' get info pane and click run in 32 bit. That worked at least for some people. In Mavericks, iTunes will not launch in 32 bit.
For the files you can locate in the finder ( mine are at

) you can click on the file in the finder and it will launch in QuickTime. For some reason on the plane I could see the first lecture in the iTunes view but, although I could see all the other lectures in the finder, I could not see the first one.
Ah well, maybe some other year I'll think about getting up to speed on ios7. Heck, maybe by then they will design a decent user experience.

HT2729 Adding select movies from library to ipad

Reinstalled itunes after reformating computer. Now I can view my itune library for movies but cannot add selected ones to my ipad or iphone. Any ideas about fix?

You usually get that message if your iPad never been synced to this computer in the past. If you can sync the one movie, I don't understand why you are getting that message or are there details that you are leaving out or forgetting?
I think that the blue dot means that the movie has not been viewed yet.

Back button returns to the movie, not the main menu

I created an iDVD with a main menu of three options: 1) Video, 2) Photo with audio track, and 3) Photo with audio track.
When I watch the video option and hit the "back" button, I return to the main menu. Perfect. But when I'm in either of the Photo/Audio pages and hit "back", I return not to the main me menu (which is what I want), but to the video.
Why is this happening and how do I correct it? Thanks!

I am a bit confused. When you say the "back" button, do you instead mean the "Menu" button?
Normally the back button would jump you back to the last chapter. If there are no chapters in your movie, then the back button would just back to the default first chapter at 0:00. In other words, back button should restart the movie from the beginning.

Attach movie - broken buttons - targeting

Let's say i have a simple movie clip called "navBar" and in
that movie clip I have nested another movie clip called
"green_btn". I have assigned linkage to both clips the first as
"navBar" and the second "green_btn". It is removed from the stage
and saved in the library with proper linkage.
Now let's say I return to the stage and create a "holder" for
my attached movie. I leave it blank, I call it "myHolder_mc" and
assign it linkageand give it a instance name of "myHolder_mc" and
move the cross hairs to the upper right hand corner.
Then I create a red button movie clip on the stage of a red
circle called "red_btn", and give it a instance name of "red_btn".
I will use red_btn.onRelease to load up the attachedMovie. When I
press the red_btn, the "navBar" movie attaches fine.
OK, thanks for sticking with me this far - HERE IS THE
PROBLEM - I want to be able to target the "green_btn" that is
located in the original navBar and assign it a onRelease function.
I can't seem to be able to target it, and have tried to find the
right target path, but can't seem to do it correctly.
So here is the code so far that isn't working

What should I do?

If you are importing the swf into the library it will lose all its actionscript. You need to either copy that file from its original fla and create it as a movieclip in your other file (copy its timeline into a movieclip) or load that swf dynamically when the file is running using actionscript.
