Buttons in Buttons?

Hello, I'm working on a website for my recent music projects. Essentially what is happening is, I'd like to have a thumbnail of the album on the page, and when you mouse over it, it brings up two buttons (for the most part), one linking to a page with more information, and another linking to a .zip file download. Up to this point, I've got it fine.
What i did was, create a button from the thumbnails, with a 'hit' area including both the thumbnail area and the area where the options appear. Then, in the 'over' frame, I placed the two buttons, with their respective links. However when they come up, if you mouse over them they flash and you cannot follow the link.

So, I realize this buttons inside a button strategy must not be the best way to go about this. What would be the ideal thing to do?
I've tried to follow a few tutorials that use a button mouseover to make a movieclip start playing, but I just couldn't get it to work (I think it was for an older version of actionscript? maybe? I don't even know if that'd make a difference?).
So yeah, if anyone has any advice, or can point me to some relevant tutorial, I'd really appreciate it!

Alright, movie clips are the way to go then. I'm assuming thats all actionscripting...
Any good tutorials to get me started in the right direction you know of? I mean, when I've got the time to settle down and look into it I can search around, but are there any that stand out as a good place to get into this sort of thing? (I've only got minimal practice with the scripting so far, but everything is pointing in the direction of me learning asap, so, I guess this is it)

A drop or two of water may have been enough to cook it. If it was bad enough to prompt you to put it in a bag of rice, then I'd venture to guess it was more than a drop or two.
Try putting it back in the bag of rice and leave it there for several days.
If that doesn't fix it, then you're more than likely looking at paying for an out of warranty replacement.
Water and delicate electronics don't generally get along well.

You need to restore the iPad.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
If that will not work, you will need to use Recovery Mode to restore.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

My location bar, tool bar (file, edit, tools, bookmarks, help) disappeared and cannot be restored. I have no back button, home button etc. the top of the screen is just an empty blue bar. Internet still works if I click on a hyperlink on the main page.

The problem started when I turned on the computer this morning. I tried to install Mozilla 4 from your website and that installed but I still have nothing on the top.

It may be due to Firebug. Seeing as how you're a web developer, it's very possible you have this installed. The latest version, 1.7X a10, appears to cause everything you described. I downgraded to "a8" and that seems to have fixed everything.
I also recreated a profile from scratch before trying this out, so I can't guarantee it's definitely Firebug.

Difference between Submit Button and Button

Hi,
Please help me understanding the difference bewteen the following cases.
1) Submit Button + ActionType : None
2) Submit Button + Action Type :fire partial action
3) Submit Button + Action Type : Fire Action
4) Button + Action Type : fireAction
5) Button + Action Type : firePartialAction
My Understanding is 1st and 4th Both submits the form.
Also, please let me know, is it a valid scenario where we use the SubmitButton and still gives ActionType. What difference it makes when action type is given with submit button.
I understand that when we use 4th then it submits the form and whereas in case of 5th it doesnt.

Thanks for your replies.
Actually i wanted to understand this in context of the issue we are facing.
We have a text field and a button besides it. We have a TAB OUT even associated with the text field which is captured using firePartialAction event. Also, the button is a SUBMIT BUTTON with a partialFireAction associated with it.
1) When you give % in textfield and tab out a popups come and load the data in a table - WORKS FINE
2) When you dont enter anything in textfiled and clicks on the button, same popups comes and loads data into the table. - WORKS FINE
3) When you give % in Text Field and clicks on the BUTTON, from JDEV, we verified that TAB OUT event gets triggered.Once that event is over, we can see the HOUR GLASS which doesnt go away. --- ISSUE
Resolution Tested : When i just remove ACTIONTYPE from button and do NAVIGATION - 3, issue is resolved.
Also, if i make that button as BUTTON and give FIRE ACTION, issue is resolved.
Now the main concern is the same combination SUBMIT BUTTON and ACTIONTYPE: firePartialAction works fine in 11i and causes issue in R12.
Please let me know your comments.

Mail 2.1 lost attachment button, font button

My daughter's eMac is running Mac OS X 10.4.8 and Mail 2.1. She has just informed me today that she no longer has an attachment button on the toolbar, nor can she easily change fonts or font colors when she sets up a new message. She is correct in that these items are not showing up on her version of the Mail app.
I am also running Mail 2.1 on my iMac G4 that is running Mac OS X (10.4.8), but I have these elements in my application windows (attachment button, fonts option in new message).
I have looked over my daughter's mail preferences several times and don't see any settings that would change how her mail app shows up. I have run Cocktail over her eMac hard disk to re-set caches & disk permissions.
When I sign-on to the eMac with my administrator account, I am able to launch Mail properly and have it show up with the attachment button & fonts button in new messages.
What is wrong with my daughter's access of the Mail app? Would deleting the preferences file be a way to re-set things?

Is it just those two buttons that she doesn’t have or is it the entire toolbar?
If the window’s toolbar is hidden, either do View > Show Toolbar or click on the grey oblong button at the top right corner of the window.
The toolbar can be customized doing View > Customize Toolbar or ctrl-clicking (or right-clicking) on it and choosing Customize Toolbar from the contextual menu.

The toolbar which has the go back button, refresh button, etc. is gone. How do I get it back?

Push Buttons, Radio Buttons, Folder Tabs

Could someone please let me in on the secret to selecting
background colors for push-buttons, radio-buttons and folder
tabs. I've tried the obvious properties with no luck.
I am developing on a Windows NT 4.0 platform using Developer
6.0. I will be releasing my app to the web soon and could
really use some help.
Ideally, I would like to be able to select any color ( i.e. to
match the background color of the canvas ), but so far the only
choices seem to be black, white or a couple of other non-
desirable colors ( bright red, green, yellow, yuck! ). Is a
custom color palette the ticket?
I realize that many button properties are controlled by Windows.
If this is the case, are there any work-arounds? When I
distribute the application, will I be able to offer my customers
the ability to configure Windows to correctly define the button
colors?
I am sure that others have these same questions. I have not
been able to find any answers. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. Disabling Push button.
    In PBO loop at sccreen and check the field name is equal to push button name
    set screen-input = 0.
    modify screen.
    endloop.
2.assign a function code to radio button in screen element it will trigger the PAI.
In PAI during loop at table control check the field value is equal to 'X'.then not down the roqw number and in PBO enable the button based on the row number by looping at screen.
3Assign the fcode to push button.Once the user presses the button in PAI check the focde and see for which line it is pressed based on it call the pop up screen using FM or dialog box.

Disable button on button click to prevent multiple inserts!!

Hi everyone, ok here is the situation.
I have a Submit button (HTML Button) on page 2. When user clicks this button, I have a branch to page 10. In my branch, I set the value of items on page 10. On page 10, I have an "On Load" process that runs some insert statements.
Everything works fine, but I have just realized that if user clicks the "Submit" button more than once (for example 5 times), the insert statement in the "page load" proces in page 10 happens 5 times. This is very bad. I cannot allow that. I would probably have to disable the button?? how can I do that??
Please note that I have not created this button using HTML in html header, I have created this button using the wizard.
I have looked at some threads but I have been unable to find a slution,
I will appreciate your suggestions

Have your button URL point to javascript:submitanddisable(this); and then use the following code:

</script>If you disable the button and submit the page, the page should refresh and the button will not be disabled anymore. You can obviously pass in a value to your custom script to use as the request parameter in doSubmit().

While installing an update for my IPod touch 4g ( that I`ve had for around over a year )

Flash CS3: Buttons and Button issues

Hello,
I am currently using flash CS3, and going at my 1st attempt at making a flash website for my screenprinting business. I am using action script 2. I created the buttons (Button Symbols) in flash and am having difficulty with them. When I go to test the movie I get this error message "Mouse events are permitted only for button instances". Once again, I have created these buttons as button sumbols in flash and they are all not working properly as I have a error message for each button symbol. What might be going on, and what can I do to resolve it?

What you should do is take a different approach and not use code that gets attached to objects--it's an old practice that unfortunately couldn't be dropped due to the need to support old designs.
Give each button on the stage a unqiue instance name and assign code for them using their names. So if you have a button that you assign the instance name "btn1", then you can assign its code in the timeline using...

By the slide to unlock screen, are you talking about the slider at the bottom of the screen after taking out of sleep mode?
And by trying the sleep/wake button and home button, are you talking about a reboot by holding both the power/sleep button and the home button until the apple logo appears and it reboots? And that does not help release the issue with the slider?
Are you sure the iPhone is well charged?
If none if this helps, have you tried syncing/backing up to a compter and then restore by iTunes on a computer?
If you cannot do any of this it would be good to schedule a visit to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs try their hand and diagnostics.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
