Buttons in PDF Folios

Just to double-check... Vector Buttons become rasterized (pixelated) in 1024 PDF Folios when seen in iPad 3?
I just made a PDF folio, based on PDF and 1024 as v24 Folios, made several MSO's inside with Vector option, and they look just fine.
But when I convert a vector shape into a button (with Click state) it appears rasterized always. So may I assume that buttons are those few overlays that don't support vector preservation even in v24 then?

Hello all,
I've been using Captivate 1 for years. I have always linked
buttons to PDF files. The only thing I really ever had to remember
was to take away the local directory address so where as only the
filename was left. When I burned to CD I would just leave
everything top-level.
Well, for some reason now Captivate won't launch my pdf file
(and yes I put the ".pdf"). It launches my web browser looking for
a web address. Here's what I do. I create a new text or image
button, next I select "open url or file". Finally I select the file
through the browse window. I immediately take off the local
directory before the filename because everything is located
top-level on the CD's I produce.
Please help, anyone. BTW I am experiencing the same thing on
Captivate 2. I'm afraid I'm doing something silly wrong since it's

ID CS3 : the 101 buttons bug - PDF file turning into a form

Hi there,
I'm just mentionning this issue with a clear title (I had mentioned it in another thread but with a wrong topic name, since I hadn't found out the bug).
When working in inDesign CS3, there's a slight but annoying issue with interactive PDF buttons. As soon as your file reaches 101 buttons, the PDF document exported is considered as a form instead of a standard document (no matter if the buttons are present on the master pages, on the same pages or through the document).
I've managed to find a workaround myself, and I found another one on these forums, but no real solution. Here they are:
Workaround #1 (http://http://forums.adobe.com/message/2177707#2177707) :
Instead of creating my controls in the master page (which caused the file to have more than 100 buttons), I created them (only once) in the first page they appeared in. Then, in Acrobat Pro, I just selected them and used the "duplicate" command.
There are two benefits when using this solution:
your PDF document won't turn into a form (which can be a real problem if you don't want to confuse the document users).
your PDF file will be lighter. Indeed, when creating a button in inDesign (even if you create it on the master page) the exported PDF document won't contain X occurences of the same button, but X different buttons (which can incread the size of your document dramaticaly when it reaches a large amount of pages).
Yet, if your document reaches 101 buttons on the solemn content, the bug will trigger anyway.
Workaround #2 (http://http://forums.adobe.com/message/1322652#1322652) :
After having exported your PDF file, lock it against editing (through the password protection system). Your document will still be considered as a form, but the annoying purple box won't pop any longer when you open the file.
This solution is quite simpler, but it still is a workaround to the issue, not a solution.
Well, I hope those workarounds will help someone, but if someone had a *real* solution to it, that would be great.

The Bookmark Panel to the left of the pdf is not displaying - I have checked everything (and double checked under preferences to ensure that under Documents > Open Settings > Restore last view settings when reopening documents is Not checked.)
Have reinstalled Acrobat and still am having issues. The only thing I did was open AcrobatLive and converted a doc to a fillable form - I am getting error messages with that now as well.

More trouble with PDF folios

Hi.
I also have a trouble with PDF folios, where vertical article has 2 pages and horizontal article has 1 page.
When i set that folio horizontal swipe only, there will be one extra blank page at the horizontal article.
When there is more pages in articles (4 and 2 accordingly), there is no such artifact.

Weird PDF folio performance (scaled up to 2048)

Hi all
I'm working with a set of articles which are 1024 x 768 but are within a 2048 folio, all in PDF format rather than PNG etc. They look great but there are two strange things which happen erratically, when navigating.
First, a page within an article sometimes disappears, leaving just a white blank page. Leaving the article and then going back in doesn't seem to fix it, nor does pinching/zooming or going back to the top of the article. It just seems to reappear at random, without me doing anything specific to cause it to come back.
Second, when scrolling up or down within an article (on content viewer) the page gets 'stuck' in between pages, so I see the top half of one page and the bottom of another - like an elevator between floors.
Any ideas?
I'm running the latest ACV. All articles are vertical scollers, snap enabled.

V25 JPEG Compression in PDF folio sucks....

Guys -
What happened to compression in v25 folios?
I've had two deisgners ask me this in the last week...and I noticed it myself. I don't think we are doing anything differently...
It seems that JPEG compression in PDF folios has been increased since prior releases of Folio Builder.
Pixelization is really noticeable even over JPEG folios set to high quality.

The image on the left is a High Quality Print PDF exported straight from inDesign. The central image is the doc as a JPEG folio. The right image is the doc as a PDF folio.

Any one else notice this? And/or is there a way to override the default compression settings for PDF folios?

This was not resolved.
I worked closely with Yasin at DPS Gold Support - and he could reproduce the problem but was unsure what or why it was happening.
My guess is that a decision was made by Adobe to increase default compression to reduce file size.
The knock against DPS is file bloat - both as it relates to file transmission and file storage.
I think this was how they attempted to address both issues.
There are no controls within inDesign or Folio Builder to override the default compression.
The only way around is to create a PNG or JPEG folio and lose vector artwork.
I'm hoping it may be addressed with V 26

PDF folio suppurt on Android

Can anyone predict when there will be PDF folio support for Android viewers?
PDF folios are really much smaller than jpg ones.

Problem solved by uninstalling and re-installing the Android App. Only showing single version of each magazine now.

How to remove submit buttons on workspace and use submit buttons on PDF instead?

I am working with LiveCycle ES2. I will get submit buttons automatically render on workspace according to routes i designed after User component. However, I do not want that submit buttons on Flex. I would like to use submit buttons on PDF as designing in LiveCycle Designer.
Could you please give a suggestion on this?

You would also want to ensure that the Adobe LiveCycle Form Bridge is not on the form.
Here are some scenarios, from the Workbench help, which may help:
If your process uses Adobe XML forms (XDP files), you can render the form to PDF and then use the Inject Form Bridge operation. To render to PDF, you use the renderPDFForm operation that the Forms service provides.
Workspace ES provides a Complete button that users click to submit their forms. However, forms can also include submit buttons. When the Inject Form Bridge operation is used on a form, Workspace ES either hides the submit button, or disables the Complete button.
Form design
Result
Design: The form includes no submit button.
Result: Workspace ES disables the Complete button and users cannot submit the form.
Design: The form includes one submit button.
Result? Workspace ES hides the submit button and enables the Workspace ES Complete button.
Design: The form includes a button (indirect submit) that points to a submit button (direct submit)
Indirect-submit buttons always take precedence over direct-submit buttons, even if multiple submit buttons exist. Workspace ES always shows the indirect submit buttons.
Result: Workspace ES hides the submit button and enables the Workspace ES Complete button.
Design: The form includes multiple indirect-submit buttons that point to one or more direct-submit buttons.
Results: Workspace ES disables the Workspace ES Complete button. The user must click the appropriate button on the form to submit it.
The user can still save a draft version of the form or take the form offline
Design: The form includes either an indirect- or direct-submit button in a repeating subform.
Result: Workspace ES excludes these buttons for submitting the form in Workspace ES.
Note: When the submit button that was added to the form design with the Process Fields form object to the form design is hidden, the button still provides the functionality for submitting the form.
Submit requests are handled by Workspace ES, which acts as an intermediary between the LiveCycle ES server and the form. Also, forms can be used both offline and online.

How can you see page previews in Folio Producer for pdf folio files?

Hi,
When we load pdf folios into Builder, Producer doesn't show us a preview of the page like it does for the jpg folio loads. If you click on the page area for the pdf folios, it just gives you a red box. Is there a way to see the page previews for the pdf folios like you can for the jpg folios? It makes entering metadata more difficult without being able to see the page preview.

Do buttons work in a MSO in a PDF folio, version 25?

I created a button within a Scrollable frame, which is part of an MSO. The button is a blank frame over text, and it's anchored to that text. The buttom simply goes to a page in the document. When I click on the text, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

Ok I figured out the issue. When I Anchor Texted the button, it would move below and to the left of the text I wanted it to be hovering over, so I went to Anchor Options, and under Custom, I manually changed the X and Y coordinates so the button would appear over the text. What this had actually done when viewed through the Content Viewer (on desktop and on phone),was move the button somewhere in the middle of the text frame. I was not able to see that initially because the button had no fill and no stroke, but by putting a fill in there, I was able to see the button in the Content Viewer (in both desktop and phone) in the middle of the text frame.
So my solution was to anchor the button, didn't touch anything in regards to placement, kept it left aligned, and typed text into the button.

No print button on pdf

I have no print button option in my pdf files only a save or cancel option. How can I fix?

Check the document properties (Security) if printing is allowed.
