Buttons w/in mc unexpectedly shifting: .fla to .swf

Hi
In Flash CS3 I am making a menu bar with buttons but am
having issues with the position of the buttons changing
unexpectedly when testing or publishing the file.
My menu bar consists of a long, horizontal box on top of
which I have text-based buttons "Home", "Portfolio", etc.. I have
the buttons so there is an even space above and below them but when
I test or export the file all the buttons shift
Has anyone heard about this type of issue or know of any
solutions for this problem.
Thank you

Hi!
Did you made a (a.c) stop, at every scene on the first frame? Or where ever you want to navigate to?
Goodluck! Ishi Greetings!

  • Standalone FLA or SWF

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am new to Flash. I
want users to be able to click a link on my website and have that
link open a Flash movie in a separate window in the Flash Player.
However, I have about 50 movies (about 2 minutes each) to load and
I am trying to figure out how to link to each movie by loading only
one swf or fla file. I have noticed in all the Flash info I have
read that Flash publishing produces several files - html, js, fla,
a swf of the movie, and a swf of the player, for each published
movie, and that all of these files must be uploaded in a folder on
the server in order to play.
I am trying to find a way to upload just one file (swf or
fla) so that I don't have to create a new folder for every movie
and don't have to load other files. I can't embed the files because
each movie is about 2 minutes and there's sync issues when it's
    embedded.
I have seen many websites that play standalone swf files but
I can't seem to figure out what must be uploaded, and how to
configure that file, to make it play without loading all the
    individual files in a folder.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Not in Captivate.
If this is a movie file, there is a Full Motion Recording
    editor you can
    download from Adobe
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/captivate/articles/fmr_editor.html.
    This lets
you edit full motion recordings made in Captivate.
Otherwise, you need to use Flash to edit your Flash files.

  • Versioning of fla and swf files

    Hi there,
I am working on a small flash project with one other
developer and we email fla and swf files back and forth. So far
date/time stamps and file sizes have been good enough for "version
    control".
I am familiar with versioning systems for development but
what about after a release? How can I determine a released swf
file's build version? Date/time stamps can change with copying and
development could have already progressed and multiple version of
the same swf file are out there...
I am surprised that there isn't a built in mechanism to
assign a version number to a fla/swf file (e.g. as part of the
publish profile) that one can then view via the files properties
dialog... or perhaps somebody has to show me the light... :)
Does anybody have a recommendation on how to give a fla/swf
file a version number that can be checked once the file has been
    released?
    Thanks,
    Dan

.. or, Plan B), use QuicktimeX' ability of Screen-Recordings to record while you playback those files in their app.
The resulting mov can be treated as any other movie in iMovie.
Vector-graphics, interactive formats, etc are of no use in an video-editor ...

  • FLA or SWF to HTML5 Conversion

I am trying to figure out the best way to convert an existing site (90% Flash / SWF) to HTML5, so that it works on the iPhone and iPad (or other mobile devices).
So far, I have decided Flash CS6 with the CreativeJS Toolkit is the route to go.
Someone (at Adobe) mentioned Dreamweaver CS5.5 can do it (convert the FLA or SWF to HTML5).
I have not found this to be true.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me?

    hey, chadXSO
I want to know that have you ever resolved your problem, and I believe that you have done!
Could you tell me which tool that you used? Now I have the same problem(the best way to convert an existing site (90% Flash / SWF) to HTML5, so that it works on the iPhone and iPad (or other mobile devices).), and someone asked me to convert swf files to html5 video, so i found this tool-swf to html5 movie maker, but i don't know how to use it, and can you tell me the tool you use? or you could tell me how to use this tool for our same question.

  • Merging ActionScript into existing FLA or SWF

    Hi Folks,
Are there any tools or tricks to do this? I'm trying to take
existing (arbitrary) FLA file (or SWF) and merge in bunch of
ActionScript code into it so that resulting FLA file (or SWF) ends
up executing my ActionScript when the Flash presentation starts up.
I'm interested in tools that will allow me to do this using
command-line - I don't want to go through manual procedure of
operning up the Flash 8 editor, creating new layers, coping the
code into first frame, etc. I would like all this to be done
    automatically through a command-line.
I look into Flex but it seems Flex cannot deal with existing
FLA files and you need to start with a XML definition file. This
doesn't help me as I have bunch of existing FLA and SWF files I
    need to work with.
Since it is possible to decompile SWF into FLA, I imagine
there must be a way to hack it (e.g. through binary patch).
Any help would be great. Thanks.

  • Unexpected Shift+parent Behavior - AE CC

Todd mentioned that shift+parent has some new functionality in the "What's New" post.
    (http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2013/04/whats-new-changed-after-effects-next.html - See "changes to Shift+parenting behavior:")
However, I've noticed another change that is less than desirable.  When shift+parenting, the child layer jumps to the comp center coordinates (eg. [960, 540]) instead of the anchor point coordinates of the parent as it would in CS6.
Is this intended and/or should I report a bug?

I think you are misinterpreting what it says in the explanation. Let's say your child layer is at 200, 200 and the parent layer is at 400, 400. If you hold down the shift key and select the parent layer the child layer will move to 400, 400 in the comp window. This happens whether or not the child layer was previously connected to the same or a different parent layer.
After holding down the shift key and selecting a parent the position of both layers should be the same. The position values may not be the same, but the actual position should be. In other words if you child layer and your parent layer were both 200 pixels square they should overlap perfectly when using the shift + select parent feature as long as the anchor points for both layers are the same are the same.

  • JSplitPane/JMenu/AffineTransform & unexpected shifting drawing on resize

I was able to reproduce my problem with the code snippet below. Whenever I move the divider or resize the window, the line
will jump, if I don't do a translation transform and use absolute positioning - I don't see any jumping. If I use translation and remove the menubar - it works. If I use translation and I remove the split pane - it works. Is this a bug? Or should I do painting differently.

Tried this code under JDK1.6 BSD Native and Linux Compatibitlity Mode JDK1.6 - both produce the same problem.

                   public void run() {
                        EntryPoint application = new EntryPoint();
                        application.getJFrame().setVisible(true);
    }

Using JDK1.4.2 on XP I get different results. I'm not sure what you are trying to do. The standard code for painting should be:
    super.paintComponent(g);
g.drawLine(0,0,100,100);The line will start at the top left of the panel and continue until 100, 100. As the divider is moved the line will move since the panel is now being painted at a new position within the splitpane. So it is normal for the line to move when the divider is moved.
If you want to paint the line at some point relative to the top left of the panel then you can use:
    super.paintComponent(g);
    g.translate(100, 100);
    g.drawLine(0,0,100,100);
    g.translate(-100, -100);

  • Embeded FLA in SWF

    Hi
I am trying to add several FLA videos on the same flash page and control them with different navigation buttons.
So, Button 1 to play video 1, Button 2 to play video 2, etc .
I have already put two navigation buttons and added two videos.
However, I need to know Action Script to enable navigation button to do above.
    Can someone help, please!!

I hope they are not all on the same timeline because if they are - they will all play at the same time and you have no control over them. In any case embedding videos on timeline is the least desirable way of using them. I suggest you look into FLVPlayback.

  • Old FLA's/Swf's not working.

    Hi,
I've just changed my machine to another Windows XP PC but
have upgraded to CS3. I've set the machine up the same way as my
old machine but old FLA's don't work anymore. What stopped working
is linked media being imported into the SWF. I've run my files from
my old machine and it all works fine?!!?
    I'm saving the FLA's as Version8 Actionscript 2.0.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Cheers Simon.

Hi again - I thought I'd give you an update on my progress as
    I still need some help.
I've managed to get my external XML files loaded. I was using
'import com.communitymx.CacheManager;' and this component didn't
come over when I upgraded to CS3!
Upgrading seems a bit of a work up sometimes!
    cheers Simon.

  • Button works in cp version, but not in swf

I created a click button to take the user to a url in the last slide on my film.  The click works in the preview, but it does not work after I've published as an swf.  What could be the issue?

    Hi there
If I only had a nickel for every time someone here has reported that same issue. I'd never have to worry about money ever again!

  • .fla into swf files

Okay here is the deal. I downloaded a template for oscommerce
that has a flash header (this flash file is main.swf). I am able to
make the adjustments that are needed in Flash 8 but once I try to
save it as .swf it tells me that I am unable to save it as an older
file. It says that I can try to save as "save as" but everytime I
save as main.swf it tells me the same thing again.
Also is there anything special that needs to be done in my
FTP program to upload flash files correctly?
Thank you for your time guys.
    Mike

    According to http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flash/cs/using/WSd60f23110762d6b883b18f10cb1fe1af6-7f12a.html# WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7acf
asset is reflected in Flash immediately.
Edit a SWF file from Dreamweaver in Flash
If you have both Flash and Dreamweaver installed, you can select a SWF file in a Dreamweaver document and use Flash to edit it. Flash does not edit the SWF file directly; it edits the source document (FLA file) and re‑exports the SWF file.
In Dreamweaver, open the Property inspector (Window > Properties).
In the Dreamweaver document, do one of the following:
Click the SWF file placeholder to select it; then in the Property inspector click Edit.
Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) the placeholder for the SWF file, and select Edit With Flash from the context menu.
Dreamweaver switches the focus to Flash, and Flash attempts to locate the Flash authoring file (FLA) for the selected SWF file. If Flash cannot locate the Flash authoring file, you are prompted to locate it."
But I don't see "Edit with Flash" option.  Maybe because I have a trial version of Dreamweaver?

  • Working with multiple fla or swf files

Hi am working on a large flash presentation that
combines several clips that I previously developed in Flash8 and
new ones that I have created in Flash CS3. I need to combine these
into one presentation. I know that I will have to save my CS3 clips
back to Flash 8 to use them there or open the 8 and save them to
CS3 to get everything into one version. However, can you tell me
should I import fla files into a single fla presentation and output
to a swf or import the swfs? I am finding that the text effects
that I developed in SwishMax are then lost regardless of what I do?
When I view the finished file, all of the text effects are gone.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Michelle

Unless you save the attachments to an app they are not stored anywhere on the iPad apart from with the email in Mail.
There are a number of apps that support word documents e.g. Apple's Pages app, and QuickOffice HD and Documents To Go. Jpeg pictures can be saved to the built-in Photos app (they should go in the Camera Roll album if you save them).
For PDFs there are free apps such as iBooks and Adobe Reader where you can save them to.
To save an attachment press and hold the attachemtn after you've opened it in the Mail app and you should get an 'open in' option appear.

  • Converting .fla or .swf to .mov (Quicktime)

I've read the thread about Quicktime 7.3.1 which I have not supporting Flash files. That being said, is there anyway to open a .swf or .fla file and convert to .mov to be used with Final Cut Pro?
    Thanks in advance,
    Shelley

If you have the Perian component. You can open a flv in quicktime and then export it to a format/code that FCP understands.
    http://perian.org/
Quicktime no longer allows flash track. Meaning, you can't open .swf in Qt. Even if the flash track track is version 5 or below.
You can open a .swf in the Flash program and then export it to Quicktime movie.

  • How to convert a flash demo (either FLA or SWF) into FLV file

I first converted the FLA file into AVI file by using the option of export movie in my flash software. But the ouput was not good, the quality of the demo was hit. The animations looked shaky. Then I tried converting the same file into QT format but as I use Flash 8 I was told to change the version in the publish settings to either Flash 5 or a lower version which did not support the actionscript and the animations that my file had. My file occupies 13,320 frames which makes the FLA and the SWF file quite heavy. Is there any way in which I can convert my demo to FLV format without using a third party software and just use Adobe Flash and Adobe Flash Video Encoder to do the same?

I wanted to know how can the conversion be made without using any tool apart from Quick Time movie player and Adobe Video Encoder.
Though I managed to make the FLV file I discovered that the background music was not playing.
I want a solution through which I can make the FLV using only Quick Time player and Adobe Video Encoder and not lose the background music and the voice-overs that exist in my file.

  • How do I hide the SWF play button when printing an embedded PDF with a SWF

When I print the PDF there is a big play button over some text. Can it be hidden?
Is there are a way of resizing a SWF once embedded? It's a pain to work with.
Sometimes, although the SWF is transparent and embedded as transparent but when printed it buts a grey box behind.
    Any ideas Adobe?

If the annotation isn't activated, you are printing the JPEG poster image instead - which doesn't have transparency. By default, poster images created from the media will have the play icon burned in, just choose your own image.
