Buy a Macbook in manhattan with a Danish keyboard - how?

Hello
I wan't to buy a Macbook with a Danish keyboard when i visit New york in 1 month. How?
Emil

I know that if you show up at an Apple Store in the US you can order a bto MacBook Pro or Air with a Danish keyboard.
A friend of mine did that - he lives in the US. It took a few weeks to get there.
The only little problem is that they would only do it if he had a registered address in the US.
I know why you are thinking about it.... saving a lot of money since they are expensive here in Denmark.
Not only is it a lot easier with a Danish keyboard when you live in Denmark - you are almost 100% sure of getting caught in customs if it has US keyboard - they are sooooo aware of Apple hardware from the US.
So unless you plan on staying in the US and have an address there... I wouldn't count on getting one - no matter who you call.

Is it possible to purchase a Macbook Pro 13" with a danish keyboard in USA?

Apple stores don't see any that have that.  They go with the normal languages spoken in the US, etc.  If you ordered it, then that would be different, but don't expect to walk into an Apple Store or Best Buy and find one with a Dane keyboard on it.  Won't happen.

  • Can I order a MacBook Pro retina with a Danish keyboard in a US applestore?

    Hello,
Is it possible to order a MacBook for pickup in a US apple store with a foreign (Danish) keyboard? I see no option on the homepage, and can't chat with support, since I’m located outside the US.
I want to order and pay in advance and then pick it up when I visit the US, since it's about 20% cheaper that way.
If this is possible what is the correct procedure?
    Thanks in advance.

You may have to declare the machine upon return in and frequently there is a value added tax for doing so.
You might be able to purchase the machine by phone when you enter the states.  The store is available by a tollfree number when you are in the states.     But you are correct while in the U.S. the online store only offers the two most common keyboards for the market.  There are ways of making the Danish characters with the English keyboard with certain Option keyboard commands though.   That may just be simpler.  Or you can always buy an external keyboard in Denmark when you return.  Macs accept most USB keyboards.  Logitech and Microsoft both make good Mac compatible keyboards.

  • Buy new MacBook in Paris (with English keyboard layout)

I want to buy new Macbook in Paris with US keyboard layout not French one. Since there are no official Mac Store in France how can I do that ?
Oh one more thing. I also want to laser Russian alphabet on buttons in Paris. Is it possible to do that ?

    http://store.apple.com/fr - this is a reseller.
No, it's not, not if you mean an independently-owned company apart from Apple. It's the official Apple Store, owned by Apple. When you order from that Apple Store, you're ordering directly from Apple.
why don't they writу full number with France code - as far as I know it is 33. so it is 33 0800 046 046
Probably because they assume that anyone ordering from the French Apple Store is in France and so doesn't need the country code. Why you can't get through to that number from another country, as I presume you're attempting, I can't say.
Well the information I have from Russian reseller is that they order them from US or UK they do not laser buttons in Russia.
Again, what Apple can and will do for a distributor/dealer is different from what they can do for an individual purchaser. Apple computers sold in a given country are usually only sold with a keyboard applicable to that country. Getting a different keyboard is often just not possible as may well be the case for you.
A workaround might be to get a MacBook with a keyboard from another language and get a set of Russian keyboard overlay stickers. Another possibility would be to purchase an external USB keyboard with Russian keys. Neither option would be an elegant solution but it might be worth it if you can save as much as you say by buying in France. Again, though, note that Apple France will not ship a system to you in Russia (or any other country); you'd have to go to France to get it.

If you have further questions about the policies and procedures for ordering, call the Malaysian Apple Store at 1800-80-6419. Everyone here is just a fellow user and cannot speak for Apple.

  • Can i order a macbook pro retina with a german keyboard?

    Hey,
I'd like to know if it is possible to order a MacBook Pro with Retina display with a german keyboard?
And if its possible is it only possible to buy it in the online store or can i pick it up at a retail store?
    Greetings Hannes

    Hannes,
for the Apple Online Store, it depends upon which country you’re in — the German keyboard is an available option only in some countries. You can visit the Apple Online Store for your country, select the MacBook Pro model that you’re interested in, and see if a German keyboard is offered for it on the configuration page.
If you’re not in a country with a majority German-speaking population, you should call your closest Apple Retail Store to see if they can special-order one for you.

  • I want to buy a iMac in Ireland with a PT keyboard

    Hi All,
I am looking to purchase a iMac from the Ireland Apple store.
However, because I write in multiple languages besides english, my best fit is a Portuguese keyboard. After going thru the IE website, which only has British, US, French and German I looked at the PT website and cant buy there because it will be shipped within Portugal and not abroad.
    Any ideas???
    Thank you!!!

If you cannot get an iMac with a Portuguese keyboard from the Apple Online Store, you should call Apple. Normally they allow you to get your Mac with different keyboard configurations than the ones listed in the Apple Online Store.
For Ireland, the phone number is 1800 92 38 98. Another option would be to look for a new iMac with Portuguese keyboard at another website, like Amazon.

I am about to buy a 13" MacBook Pro with 256 GB SSD.  I want a Windows partition set up.  What size should it be, and can I load Win XP Pro or does it need to be Win 7 or 8?

You can use XP but it has to be in a Virtual Machine and OS X as the host instead of as a dual boot system with XP in its own partition. That is how I run Windows on my Mac, in a Virtual Machine.
Take a look at VritualBox from Oracle. It's free and works very well.

  • I would like to buy a MacBook Pro Retina 15" w QWERTY keyboard in Paris, France... do I have to add the price of an airline ticket to the US to do this?

    Hi,
I hope that someone in the community can help - I called the Apply main number in the US and the guy was clueless - he was even surprised that there are different time zones in other parts of the world.  Yep, I'm an American in Paris and realize that after 7 years here that I just don't want to switch to a french keyboard.  I'm in the market for a new MacBook Pro Retina (I already have one but am changing jobs), but can't seem to figure out how to buy one from Paris.  Apple doesn't ship outside the US...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Found some items on Google for what you can do, customize when buying, swapping out ($US200 it sounded like) so it is possible.

unfortunately it is not so easy because replacing the keyboard is like replacing the upper case!
Installing MacBook Air 13" Mid 2012 Upper Case - Use this guide to replace the upper case, including the backlit keyboard.
For information, i'm french and I have a friend that bought a US macbook pro but wanted a french AZERTY layout. If you buy a brand new one, the tip is to order the devise directly at the online apple store and to ask for the free option Canadian keyboard. Canadian keyboard are also azerty! I don't know for German layout...
    http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/111945/How+to+exchange+the+complete+Keyboard+ (MBA+2012+13%22)
The apple.ca store lists an English or French BTO option. But I don't know if that's the "real" French layout or the Quebec government's stipulated CSA layout. And maybe one with the QWERTY or maybe QWERTZ layout.
    The apple.com US site lists:
    Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
Keyboard (Western Spanish) & User's Guide
    Keyboard (French) & User's Guide
    Keyboard (Japanese) & User's Guide
Again. which French or others show what the actual keyboard layout will be or look like.
But buy the MB Air in France and other European countries and the choice and keyboard layout changes again, and most likely the France purchase will have the AZERTY KEYBOARD layout.
No mention I could find of the variations of the "Enter" key differences.

  • MY MACBOOK ONLY WORKS WITH CAPS LOCK ON HOW CAN I FIX THIS?

I CAN ONLY TYPOE IN ALL CAPS. IF I TURN CAPS OFF AND PRESS NUMBERS IT WILL TYPE OUT SYMBOLS, IF I HIT DELETE THE SAME WILL HAPPEN AND IT WILL TURN ON CAPS LOCK. IF I HIT THE VOLUME CONTROLS IT CLOSES AND OPENS RANDOM APPS. HELP ME PLEASE.

Have you spilled anything on your keyboard? Sounds to me like your ALT key is stuck on. It's possible that the key is just stuck down, but if there's liquid damage, you may need a new keyboard unit.

  • Can I buy a MBP with the danish software?

    Hey!
    My name is Farida Laryea.
I am a danish exchangestudent in America and I would like to buy a Macbook Pro here since they are a bit cheeper here.
Does anyone one know if it is possible to buy one with danish software or at least change it into danish?
I was going to change the keyboard setting to danish if I couldn't buy it with the danish sofware and then buy stickers and stick them on.
But I would really like the whole thing to be in danish!
I hope someone can help me!
    Thanks

    (1) Mac OS X is already localised for Danish. There's nothing to re-install; all you need to do is change the respective system preferences.
    (2) Other applications (eg, MS Office) may or may not have Danish localisations -- that does not depend on Apple, but on their developers.
    (3) Ordering an MBP with a Danish keyboard in the US is going to be difficult. You have to ask at the Apple Store; in fact, you should ask in several Apple Stores.
    (4) Using stick-ons may be a solution; at any rate, don't count on changing the keyboard in Denmark -- that's possible, but it's quite expensive.
    (5) I'm told Danish customs officers are eagle-eyed and merciless. You must know much more about that than I do -- but you may wish to keep it in mind.
