I am the owner of a small CPA firm. We currently use Adobe 9 Pro which is no longer supported. I have read through the differences between a subscription to XI Pro vs just upgrading and purchasing. When I look at the comparison chart I do not see much benefit in the additional options gained by subscribing. We use the product to scan documents as we try to be paperless. We then use a bookmarking program on some documents. Our access to fast DSL in limited at present so I believe a cloud solution would be very slow. It seems to me I would be fine with the purchase option which would mean I should get a least a couple years out of the product vs paying am amount slightly more than the upgrade amount annually. I would love to get some replies which can help me decide as I cannot find anyway to actually talk to a human at Adobe. They seem to have eliminated all customer service voice options or at least I cannot find them.

With the subscription you sign in with your Adobe ID that you used to order the subscription. By installation code, I assume you mean serial number. You do not get one with the subscription, but use your Adobe ID.

I called into support and they said it was because I had multiple subscriptions under my account but there was a manual fix I could make to fix it. The retail version of Acrobat costs around US449$ and the monthly subscription is available for a very nominal fee of 19.99$ per month.
The software is the same and there's no difference between the functionality of Acrobat except that in the retail version you have a serial number to permanently activate the software whereas in subscription Acrobat validates the license very month to check if the subscription is active or not.

I just bought a new iMac and I would like to buy Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. a ps license allows either 2 pc or 2 mac installations. to install on both mac and pc, you must purchase two licenses, or subscribe to adobe cc which does allow 1 pc and 1 mac installation for all adobe programs.

When I try to export from a pdf on my Adobe Reader app on my iPad, it asks me for $2.00 per month subscription fee. I'm logged in with my CC account, so should there be an extra subscription for something you'd assume is included in the CC license?

There is no connection between your Creative Cloud account and Adobe Reader on an iOS device.
Acrobat and Reader are developed by a different unit within Adobe. The only connection is that Adobe Acrobat Pro is offered as part of your CC subscription for desktop use.
The Acrobat unit is trying to generate revenue by offering certain services by subscription (e.g., EchoSign, etc.)

Adobe no longer sells CS4, outside of the exceptional cases of After Effects CS4 & Premiere Pro CS4.
For other CS4 products, if you really need them, your best bet is to check Adobe's authorized resellers.
A quick Amazon search turned up some available CS4 inventory. Just be sure what you're buying and installing is genuine and authentic, as there are a lot of fake copies out there now with hidden malware.
