Buy button is gone for itunes plus after 10.4 upgrade

ever since I upgraded to 10.4 the buy button for individual songs in itunes plus is gone.  the big buy all button is still at the top but I can't download them individually.  the buy buttons for all the songs were there in 10.3.   I've tried checking all the settings and I can't figure it out.  any help would be appreciated.

I feel your pain. All I can offer is what I found worked for me in my upgrade from 3.9 to 4.9--and the WHY of that is not clear to me. Perhaps it could have been done better by trashing the .plist files that are listed above . . .
But, several things--you have provided little in the way of the details of your situation--what are you trying to connect and what error windows are you getting. So, if it's not exactly like macmend then maybe you should start a new thread/topic and provide more info. And, if you read my post at the linked thread you would see that it took me a long time to piece my personal answer together--depending on who reads your question that may be faster or slower. BUt, don't give up--I did a number of searches in the search discussion bar to the right and followed along to try to find other people who were having the same problem. The answer is probably simple if everything was working right before hand. And that is the question--was everything right before you did the upgrade--did you "repair permissions" and did you perchance "repair disk" using install CD before you did the upgrade? These kind of details can provide more info so that someone can help you with your issue. Good luck.

  • Grace period for iTunes Plus?

In the past couple of months (as recently as five days ago), I've purchased some non-Plus iTunes albums. Now, several of them are being offered as Plus upgrades to me.
Is there any grace period for newly purchased items, or do I just need to swallow a $3-or DRM penalty for buying something on its release date?

at least be pointed to some documentation about this
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1711
"Can I upgrade previously purchased music to iTunes Plus?
Yes. Any available upgrades will be shown on the Upgrade to iTunes Plus page. You can upgrade all of your items at once by using the Buy All button. This replaces all eligible previous purchases with iTunes Plus versions of the same items. You can also choose to make individual upgrades by clicking the Buy button to the right of each item. Song upgrades are available for 0.30 USD, video upgrades for 0.60 USD, and albums for 30 percent of the album price. The counter to the right of the "Upgrade to iTunes Plus" link in the Quick Links box will indicate when additional eligible content become available."

  • ITunes Purchases not Available for iTunes Plus Upgrade

I have upgraded nearly 250 songs to iTunes Plus and have upgraded my library at every available opportunity, but I still have 155 songs that have not been available for upgrade. Many of the songs and albums that have not been upgraded are available for purchase in iTunes in the iTunes Plus format.
Why are these songs not being made available for upgrade? I have emailed iTunes support but have not received a response. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have a solution or information about if/when these purchases will be available for upgrade? Thanks!

What can apparently happen is that for various reasons (replacement of a track in the Store with another copy, slight changes in the release identification, etc.) the link between the track and your Purchase History can break, which will result in the track not appearing as eligible for iTunes Plus upgrade even though it exists as Plus in the Store.
What you'll need to do is contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page (there is no category specifically for this issue, so I'd suggest just picking one under the Purchases - problem area) and explain the problem to them. If you've already contacted them via this form, wait a day or two and if you don't get a reply (and if you haven't even received the automated reply you may have a spam filter blocking Apple's messages), try again.
It may take a couple of email exchanges to get past the "form" email responses, but eventually they should work out a solution for you. You may need to provide the track name, artist and order number so they can confirm the original purchase.
    Regards.

  • Where has the "Clean up" "Clean up by" option gone for organizing folders? I just upgraded to OS X Maverick today and noticed it was no longer a option when right clicking; also, it is grayed out in the view tab.

    Hi Josh
Thanks for this useful information and for the report about your experience.
I have already noticed this Toshiba Value Added Package for Vista and have already read the More info .
This option provides details about the single drivers and tools. For Toshiba Value Added Package I found this:
"This package installs a range of important utilities.TOSHIBA Components Common Driver This module is an essential component on Windows Vista. It is required to make other TOSHIBA original programs work properly.

  • Support for itunes plus file transfer / playback

The lastest Nokia Media Transfer application for the mac allows the transfer of itunes plus (.m4a extension) files, these are purchased itunes tracks without DRM. From what I understand apple have modified the tag data on these files which prevents them from being played on a Nokia phone, the Mac transfer application will process these files to modify this data and allow the tracks to be played.
My question is, will windows users get a similar application, to avoid the use of third party / manual operations, to allow these files to be transferred directly from itunes to my Nokia in the same manner as the mac application?
Its usually the mac being the un-supported OS but appears to be windows in this case !

yeah, Apple have their own way of working with aac/mp4 tags. They add extra bits that other players, unless programmed to read, won't understand, and at worst they won't play the file at all. There is another standard, the Nero standard, and they are similar but the Nero version is more universally recognised. There isn't an ID3v1/ID3v2 for MP4 files, yet. Although, like I said, since 90% of the world uses the Apple method of tagging, that is close enough to being a standard.
It's not that Nokia don't want you using iTunes, or like you said, they would force Mac users to use a Nokia music program. I think it is just that the whole "PC Suite" philosophy is geared around the Windows Media Player way of doing and tagging things. And since WMP doesn't recognise m4a files, neither does the Nokias. To get around this, instead of fixing their mp4 codecs to recognise Apple formatting, they made a transfer program that swaps the tags to a Nokia-understandable format. Which is just silly.
I've tried the Suite Music Manager, I have. Honest opinion - use Windows Media player instead. BUT I don't want to use that either, I have a huge collection ripped/catalogued in iTunes, and I shouldn't have to go about fiddling with tags and swapping software/workflows just so my phone can play it. I don't need to with MP3 so why should I need to with AAC/MP4? It would only take a few lines of code in the phone's AAC codec for it to read these tags, surely thats easier than making transfer programs and Music Managers?
The arguement "Nokia want you buying from the Nokia store rather than iTMS" doesn't hold water either, because I'm never buying from either, as long as I can still buy CDs from the shop.
Like I said, this whole thing may be fixed with the new N95-8 etc. If its not, and Nokia have no intention of fixing it, then my next phone will be an iPhone. I don't WANT an iPhone, but this whole thing is a deal-breaker for me.

  • How to check for iTunes Plus upgrades

I can't find the link to check if I can upgrade my iTunes purchases to iTunes plus. It use to be on the store's main page. Is it gone? Is there another way to check? I know that at least one of my purchases is for sale as an iTunes Plus selection but I can't find a way to upgrade.

If you don't have the iTunes Plus link in your Quick Links list, then you don't have any songs/albums that are upgradeable. I have the same problem that you described: I have some DRM versions of albums that are now available in iTunes Plus format. Yet they have never shown up in my upgrade section.
I e-mailed iTunes support about this issue. I received a response that, essentially, the new versions provided by the labels are slightly different in some way and cannot be matched to your purchase history. So you're out of luck.
If someone can shed more light on that, I would appreciate it. I'm obviously not too thrilled with that response.

  • THE BUY BUTTON WONT WORK IN ITUNES?

The buy button isn't working in iTunes. I can sample songs, but can't buy them. When I hit the 'buy' button nothing happens. It is not greyed out. It should just purchase the song, fine, but nothing occurs. My credit card info. has not changed and just a week ago it was working fine. Please help.

See if there's an iTunes upgrade available.
Also try quitting and restarting iTunes, to see if that clears the issue.
Failing that, try a system reboot.

  • Artwork for iTunes Plus songs

Hi. My iTunes Plus songs don't come with album artwork and I can't seem to add artwork to them. When I open the artwork viewer on the bottom left-hand side of iTunes it says "Album Artwork Not Modifiable", and when I try adding artwork by going to Get Info it doesn't work either. Is this happening to anyone else? Maybe Apple didn't include the artwork feature in their iTunes Plus songs or something.
    -Eric

yes, I know that all iTunes songs are supposed to come with artwork (in fact, all my iTunes purchases that are not iTunes plus have it), but my iTunes plus ones don't for some reason. In fact, as I said above, I can't even add artwork to them because the Get Info tab says that "Album Artwork Not Modifiable". I can modify any other info for the songs (like the comments field, genre, album, grouping, etc) and I do have read/write permissions for the song files and the folders they are in. Also, all my iTunes plus purchases are upgrades (I had the 128kbps DRM versions before), and before I upgraded, the artwork was modifiable.
One more thing: I just noticed that I can't add lyrics either. I can put them into the lyrics field, but they don't stay there (I put them in, press OK, then Get Info again later and they're not there).
These two problems (can't add artwork and can't add lyrics) happen with all my iTunes plus songs.
    My iTunes plus purchases are:
Beastie Boys - Ch-Check It Out
Beastie Boys - So What'cha Want
    Coldplay - Speed of Sound
    Coldplay - The Scientist
Roxette - It Must Have Been Love
The Rolling Stones - Waiting On a Friend
The Rolling Stones - Start Me Up
The Rolling Stones - Beast of Burden
The Rolling Stones - Miss You
The Northern Pikes - She Ain't Pretty
Nat King Cole & Natalie Cole - Unforgettable
    Heart - What About Love
The Beach Boys - Surfin' USA
The Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice
    The Beach Boys - Kokomo

  • Upgrade Charge for iTunes Plus Songs

Doesn't anyone feel Apple is doing a disservice to its loyal customers for charging another $.30 for upgrading songs to iTunes Plus when others can get the same songs in the higher quality for the price we originally paid? It seems unfair but I'm not sure how others feel and how we can provide our collective feedback to Apple.

itunes menu > help > Provide itunes feedback
I don't really care. The original songs sounded fine to me for several years.
This upgrade is just marketing to make you want it.
Although I do think getting rid of the DRM is the way to go, it really doesn't matter since I've burned the older songs to an audio CD and can use them how I want.

  • Airport Express for Itunes Invisible After Adding Time Capsule to AX Networ

One step forward, one step back.
I have an airport express linked to my airport extreme network for itunes streaming. It's worked fine forever. I recently added a time capsule to the extreme network for backup purposes using Time Machine. The extreme and TC form a single network are both connected via ethernet. The TC and express are in the same room. Time machine now is working fine. However, the airport extreme is no longer visible in itunes or airport utility. The light is green on the express and I was able to verify the settings when connecting it directly with an ethernet cable.
In setting up the AX/TC network, it called for the setting 'extend this network' not to be checked. Could that be it? As I recall, it wasn't anyway.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
    JB

Got this working by directly connecting the Express and TC with and ethernet cable. I don't know if this is the right way for this to work since the two devices just happen to be near enough to do that. That said... I'm happy it's working.

  • Could not complete the iTunes Store Request (for iTunes Plus)

Since the announcement yesterday of the expanded iTunes plus library and the price reduction, I'm finding that if I click on iTunes Plus I always get the 'could not complete' message. Plus, many iTunes plus songs are still showing at 99p, only a few I've found are 79p.
I'm really surprised nobody else has reported this - is it just me?

No it's not just you, I haven't been able to access iTunes Plus either.
I assumed they were busy upgrading that section of the store but it's taking its time and if that was the case then there ought to be a more informative error message.

  • Can't access movies in iTunes Store after iOS 7 upgrade

I cannot access, click, scroll, or download movies at the iTunes stores after downloading iOS 7. It's the first issue I've encountered. Sort of weird that I can access music but the movies section is inaccessible. I can see all the titles, but can't click on any of them to read details or download the movie.  What's the fix?

I was on the phone with Apple for over an hour last night…they had me trying all kinds of things (deleting plists, creating a test account, etc. We did solve the multiple sign ins problem with the Apple ID (de-authorize iTunes and re-authorize), but I still cannot see podcasts (in the dropdown categories list) in the iTunes Store. The last thing I tried was to re-install Mavericks, but that issue persists…

  • No status messages for any components after 2012 SP1 upgrade

Hi, after a recent upgrade to 2012 SP1 two of my sites no longer show any status messages in monitoring. All the services seem fine, I can distribute and deploy packages to clients, run queries etc.
All other sites are now fine, the difference is the working sites are on 2008 R2 or 2012 and the trouble sites are on 2008 Storage Server SP1. So obviously close at hand to assume the Site Server OS is somehow the culprit.
SP2 is installed on all sites for SQL Server 2008 R2, servers have been restarted.

    There we go!
    So sender.log had these:
There is no existing connection, Win32 error = 7054
    and
Error during connection to \\primaryserver.domain.local\SMS_SITE (7054).
As mentioned already, I already verified the secondary site computer accounts were in the SMS_SiteToSiteConnection_XX1
on the primary site server. But I added my main SCCM service account there as well and under Administration\Hierarchy Configuration\File Replication I changed the File Replication Account from the computer account to the service account and the status messages
are now transfered and appearing in the Status Message Viewer.
I don't really care why the computer account wouldn't work, I'm just going to leave it like this, the 2008 Storage Servers
are due to be replaced or upgraded this year anyway.
    Thanks Juke and everyone else!
