Buy desktop version of Indesign for teachers at special discount

I'm a teacher and want to buy InDesign for my desktop which runs windows 7, I understand as am a teacher and eligible for  at a special discount.
PS help me with the link to buy the product with the discount available.
Thanks,
Arif

Despite the name, no version of InDesign runs "in the cloud". It is always a local app, running from your hard disk.
However, current versions are ONLY available in subscription and ALWAYS need to check the internet regularly.
At least, that is the retail position. An educational establishment should enquire about volume licensing and possible offline use.

Hello, I am doing a layout in arabic language, and I am missing option of change direction in paragraph. I read on forum that I am supposed to download some kind of an plug in or version of indesign for arabic language support, but I just don't know what to download.
Can you tell me step by step what to do and download.
    Thank you very much!

InDesign is from a technical viewpoint a Plugin Activator.
    Every function is a plugin.
With CC and higher you can change the language in the CC app preferences.
When you change the language, additonal plugins, necessary for that language are installed, with the MENA (Middle East North Africa) versions RTL functionality is added into your primary version.
InDesign chooses to start the program in the same language as you OS is set up, RTL functionality appears translated into your normal User Interface.
After installing a MENA version you can switch back to your main language.

  • Using old version of InDesign for upgrade

Hi. I have an old, never-opened retail copy of InDesign 2.0 that I bought with a new Mac some years ago. The white tape seal on the top of the jewel case is still unbroken.  I'm semi-retired and don't do any layout or graphics work, but I have one project that was created for me years ago using Indesign that I would like to be able to update myself.  I would like to be able to upgrade to a later version of InDesign, but not to the current one--probably to version 3 or 4. One reason is I think the file I will be using is in 3; the other reason is I am still running OS 10.6.8 on my Mac. Can I install this software now on my Mac?  Will its serial number work to authorize an upgrade version on installation?  What can I do?  Many thanks

Thank you, Bob.  Just finished a verrryyy lengthy chat with a nice Adobe rep, who gave me some slightly different info, and, sadly, about the same conclusion.
    I was told I can't install the ID 2.0 on anything past a G5.
I might qualify for an upgrade to CS4 (ID 6.0) but I'd need help from Adobe for the authorization. However, that supposedly runs on OS 10.4.11–10.5.4 only.
He said I can't use CS 6 because it requires OS 10.7 and up.  So I could take a chance on CS 4 and if that didn't work, give up and swear off Adobe.  (I was raised on Quark)  Or look for a later full version of Indesign -- if that was ever even offered.
As far as finding old software, I'm sitting with an unopened retail copy that's 7 years old.  If it were still usefiul, I believe it would be legal to re-sell.
I've had success buying authentic old stock software more than once.  I ask for pictures of holograms, etc.  (I'm still using Appleworks and until I couldn't run system 9, i wouldn't give up Claris Emailer).
Thanks very much for the advice!

  • Buying previous versions of indesign

    Hi
I am a home user of Quark and would very much like to start using indesign, however my imac running Snow Leopard is not compatible. My question is... is there any way of buying a previous version of Indesign that does run on my platform?
Thanks a million for your help

If you don't want to invest the $700 for the perpetual license, you can also get the cloud subscription, which lets you choose any version starting with CS6. There's a single app plan for $20 per month.
How old is your iMac? Mid 2007 and newer will take Lion 10.7.5, which will let you run ID CC.

  • Desktop version under 'Save for Web'

Does anyone know the differences in the technical spec of the 'desktop' version of a video saved under 'Export for Web' on QuickTime and the video saved under 'Export'/'Movie to iPod'/default settings?
I am puzzled as the desktop version seems to be more compressed (smaller file) than one saved as 'Export'/'Movie to iPod' but both are targeted at the iPod (presumably).

And, from your prior statement, the "iPod" export is larger than the "Desktop" version, correct? There's always a tradeoff with video on the web... either Quality or Size. If you have high quality, you have generally have a large file size, if you have a small file size then your quality degrades.
Either way, 50 minutes is going to be a pretty good sized file no matter how you slice it. If your users don't have access to a broadband connection, then trying to get them a 50 minute video file shouldn't even be tried over the internet. Maybe you could cut this down into 5 10 minute segments, but some way or another, you're going to have to better manage the data you're attempting to send out from your end.
If you like, give a brief description of what you're trying to do and perhaps that will help lead to an answer. (Also, I think "Export for Web" was conceived as a way for users to create iPhone videos that perform the same as YouTube videos... that is provide the low quality stream over EDGE and the higher quality iPhone version over WiFi with "Desktop" being tossed on at the end as a highest quality option)

  • Non-tech Q: How to buy Educ. Version of InDesign for 4th Grader?

I've seen the price list on Adobe.com, which includes a $199 educational version.  I'd like to buy this on behalf of my 4th grader, for his school newsletter and other work. (His allowance isn't quite high enough yet to afford this, and it will be a few years before his Visa applications get approved!) But I can't locate that version to load into my shopping cart. Is it only available for older students or something?
    Thanks,
    JB

hmm - that's what I guessed, although it's not too clear on the site. Too bad -- 10-year olds can certainly use InDesign. Thanks.

  • Have I to buy two versions of PSE8 for my two computers?

I bought PSE8 (99 €) for my PC computer three months ago. Last week I bought an iMac computer and I would like install PSE8 also on this new computer. I don't want buy a new PSE8 version for Mac and I would like use my licence for the both. Is it possible? Adobe refuse to accept my code. Have I really to buy 2 licences?
    Thank you for help.

I am in a similar situation, but reversed!  I have a Mac and I run a virtual pc .  I downloaded the drivers from the Canon site for my i9900. but come to find out after spending about 1 hour with a Canon techie that he cannot get the Mac to communicate with the i9900, yet I can print from the virtual pc side to the i9900.  when I found they had drivers for the Mac at canon I purchased the pse 8 for the Mac.  Now I need to sell Mac pse 8, I did open the package, but never downloaded the software, I purchased for 54. with a $20.00 so hopefully someone will want to purchase then I can purchase pse8 for the pc side.  I can understand you dilemma about having a different os but I also don't know of anyone allowing you  license for both os without purchasing another  package.
I'm upgrading from pse5, and what I gather there is quite a difference between the 5 and 8.  I eventually will be happy!

  • Can I purchase the most recent version of Indesign for 1 flat fee?

    Please help

The most recent version (CC 2014) is available by subscription only. If you want to purchase a perpetual license, your only option is CS6.

  • Where can I get Indesign for CS5?

    Hi,
Does anyone know where I can get Indesign for CS5? I'm a former student of Kaplan University. I was charged $$ for the purchase Creative Suite 5 (CS5) from the university for use in classes for my BSIT, but the version I received from them for the full purchase price did not include any version of Indesign?!
Prices around the 'Net, including the Adobe store, seem quite high for the CS5 version of Indesign, despite the fact there's already a CS6 version out there. Problem for me is that I can't afford to purchase it at $900 nor purchase a whole new CS6.
Found out I really needed Indesign as a cohesive for the rest of the programs in the Creative Suite after purchasing a self-teaching manual for the CS5. Didn't even know the program existed prior to purchasing the manual (thanks Kaplan! LOL)
Hoping one of you gurus can help me out and one day I'll be able to repay that favor to someone else :-)
    Thanks so much,
    PinkAwakening

    Thank you Mylenium.
I just looked on eHow and Indesign is merely a way to compose brochures, booklets, and ebooks, it's not important as I'd been led to believe. I can buy a new version of Indesign for CS5 as a standalone and it costs roughly $338, which I may do later this year.
It does matter who's to blame in the case of Kaplan and I'm working with my U.S. Senator on that case. Online schools need to be just as accountable for how they treat their students as any other institute of higher learning and/or group that is taking $$ for assistance. The way to change that is through law and better oversight to ensure they meet accreditations and specified educational and regulatory standards.
Sadly CS6 is only available in a downloadable version. It's crazy to know that I'd have to spend $2,700.00 to purchase something that is only in a downloadable format and to know that new computers may be made without CD/DVD drives so that everything can go cloud - meaning anyone would look at my ideas on the cloud end and use them?! But change is inevitable and so be it.
You're helpful in the fact that it might be best to either purchase new versions of specific products I want or upgrades I need as that's more cost effective and the versions would be compatible with the latest technologies. But since circumstances had not allowed me to complete my education (yet), I work in a minimum wage position and will need to save up to get anything old or new
It's nice to know there are good people to respond here and I'll take your advice to heart. Have a great year!!
    Sincerely
    PinkAwakening

  • How can I enable CJK typesetting options in English version of InDesign CS6?

    Hi,
I've installed InDesign CS6 recently in English (International). I need to typeset a Chinese text vertically.
I've heard of shareware plugins like "World Tools Pro" that can enable CJK special typesetting options, but I need a cheaper approach.
Does anyone know how to typeset CJK text with a freeware plugin or internally without plugins?

Thank you for your prompt reply! I understand that it's not easy for developers to make a plug-in without profit, especially in the Creative industry nowadays... So maybe a "free" plug-in is not what I should demand for, right?
I've heard of a way to "sort of" enable the CJK editing options by playing some regedit magic! (HERE) But I hate this because it changes my entire UI into other language... (well I'm a Chinese and English reader but I've stuck to English version of InDesign for a long time... ) So may someone suggest some other possible ways to change settings internally like regedit-ing other than plugins?
BTW, when googleing, somebody actually says that using a Chinese/Japanese/Korean version of Microsoft Word to type the CJK text and copying it to Id afterwards may work... Well I've tried but it seems to fail. Also someone suggests that since Illustrator's text box support some "pseudo-CJK options" (vertical text, rotating text, but the language can still NOT be recognised as CJK...), just copy the paragraph made in Illustrator to InDesign will work. But the latter method doesn't allow further editing of text. (most likely because the copied content is soon recognised as vector image in Id) Are these all true?

  • How do I open PageMaker 7 files in InDesign CC without buying a previous version of InDesign?

without buying a previous version of InDesign?

InDesign CC does not have the capability of opening Pagemaker 6 and 7 files, but InDesign CS6 does.
If you have a Creative Cloud subscription, you can also download InDesign CS6 at no charge using the Creative Cloud desktop app.
In the Creative Cloud app, go to the Apps list. Scroll down until you see the heading Filters & Versions. Choose Previous Versions. You can download CS6 from there.
Both versions can run on your computer at the same time.
